Query output into cfmail
I need to send an individual email to about 100 names fetched
from an Access 2003 database. I am fetching the distinct emails
from the database and getting each Project owned by each distinct
email address.
I created the correct output on a test web page where the
query will list every distinct email address with each email
address having their own Project Title listing. Now the question is
how do I use my output to send an individual email to each of the
distinct email addresses I got in my query??
For example someone with the email Address of
[email protected] would get one email with his Project Title
listings that could be 3 or 4 titles. The next distinct email
address of [email protected] will get his own email with his
Project title listings.
Here is my attempt but the #userEmail# has everyones email
address.
<cfoutput query = "theQuery" group = "userEmail">
<cfmail to: #userEmail# subject: Project Listing
<cfoutput>Project Listing:
#ProjectTitle#</cfoutput>
<cfmail>
</cfoutput>
Please help.
Jazzy has the correct answer. And if your project listings
reside in seperate tables, you need to run a seperate query within
the loop BUT outside of the cfmail in order to retrieve those. So
that would then be...
<cfquery name="rs_read" datasource="xxx" >
SELECT *
FROM #session.sometable#
WHERE whateverid = '#variables.whateverid#';
</cfquery>
<cfloop index="loopcount" from="1"
to='#rs_read.RecordCount#' step="1">
<cfquery name="rs_projects" datasource="xxx" >
SELECT projects
FROM #session.sometable#
WHERE email = '#rs_read.email#';
</cfquery>
<cfset variables.proj = ''>
<cfoutput query="rs_projects">
<cfset variables.proj = variables.proj & ' ' &
rs_projects.projects>
</cfoutput>
<cfmail from="[email protected]" to="#rs_read.email#"
subject="#rs_projects.whatever#">
bla bla #rs_read.anyvariable#
PROJECTS: #variables.proj#
</cfmail>
</cfloop>
REMEMBER: You can not nest outputs in outputs, that's why you
can not run the query output inside CFMAIL because CF regards
cfmail as an output routine.

Query output into ODI variable
Hi,
I want to take the output (multiple rows and multiple columns) into an ODI variable of Text type.
I have created the variable and put the query and set the variable type as Text type. But when I send the value of this variable to other variable, it comes as blank.
Can anyone tell me how can I do that
Thanks in advance
ArunHello Neha,
Though i have been working with APDs since some time. But havent actually been involved in designing one. But you could find many documents for the APD on web. And as far as i know, you will need a program to save file from APD.
I have a document which explains how you can use APD in process chain. can forward you the same if you want.
I am sorry as i wasnt of much help for you, as i havent worked on similar requirement before, but this thing just striked in my mind.

I am trying to insert or embed and image into cfmail from a database-stored path to an actual image. The actual JPEG image is stored in a folder called "images_personnel". The path to the image under the column titled photopath is stored in my database table as "/file/images_personnel/28.jpg". Displaying the image on the screen renders without a problem, embedding the same image as part of a cfloop query does not insert/embed the image into an email. All of the other output of the same cfloop displays and emails just fine. However none of the photos of each personelle show up. What an I doing wrong?
My code is below:
<cfquery name="Staffreport" datasource="master">
Select staffreport.*, name.personnelid, name.email, name.last, name.noiid, stafflt, CONCAT(name.fname,' ',name.middle,' (',name.last,')') AS teammember, CONCAT(name.fname,' ',name.middle) AS teammember2, concat(name.photopath,'',name.photo)as hisphoto, stafflt.*, trim(concat(ltfname,' ',ltmiddle)) as LT from Staffreport, name, stafflt
where 0=0

How to output a query results into a text file
How to output a query results into a text file instead of outputing it to the screen..
is there a way for us to write a SQL query which specifies to output the query results to a text file.
Pls let me know how to do it
Thanking u in advance
regards
MuralyMuraly,
If you are using SQL*Plus 8.1.6 or later, you can also spool output to a file in HTML format, eg
SET MARKUP HTML ON SPOOL ON PREFORMAT OFF ENTMAP ON
SPOOL c:\temp\report.html
SELECT DEPARTMENT_NAME, CITY
FROM EMP_DETAILS_VIEW
WHERE SALARY>12000;
SPOOL OFF
SET MARKUP HTML ENTMAP OFF
In iSQL*Plus 9.0.1 (the browser-based interface to SQL*Plus) onwards, you can also send the HTML output to a new web browser window, or an html file -- much easier than the command line method.

Converting smartforms output into PDF
Hi ALL,
How to convert the smartforms output into PDF based form. After executing the form, it should directly open in PDF. How to do this?
Points will be awarded.
Thanks and regards,
vinoth.Hi Vinoth Kumar,
Please go throuh the below procedure and sample Code, this might help you.
Procedure
When we activate the Smartform the system generates a Function Module. The function module name we can get from Smartfrom screen from menubar
Environment => Function Module_Name . In a report we can get this Function module name by calling a Function Module standard SSF_FUNCTION_MODULE_NAME. This function module at runtime calls the FM generated by smartform, which in turn is then used to pass data from the report to Smartform. In the report given below the FM generated is /1BCDWB/SF00000152 . In this FM we can see CONTROL_PARAMETERS in import tab. This is of type SSFCTRLOP. We need to set the GETOTF of this to be X. Setting this field will activate the OTF field in smartform.
In export tab of the FM generated by smartform we can see a parameter JOB_OUTPUT_INFO which is of type SSFCRESCL. The SSFCRESCL is a structure of having one of fields as OTFDATA. OTFDATA in turn is a table of type ITCOO. ITCOO has two fields TDPRINTCOM and TDPRINTPAR. TDPRINTCOM represents command line of OTF format data and TDPRINTPAR contains command parameters of OTF format data.
In every Smartform output in OTF format, TDPRINTCOM begins and ends with //. EP represents the end-of-page value for TDPRINTCOM field.
In addition we need to set few fields at the place where we call this FM(generated by smartform) in our program. While calling this FM we should set control_parameters, output_options, user_settings and job_putput_info fields as shown in program.
Once these settings are done we can call Function Module CONVERT_OTF to convert the OTF data of smartfrom output to PDF data format. Once these are done we can call method cl_gui_fronted_services=>file_save_dialog to specify the directory path where we want to save the output PDF file. After this we can call Function Module GUI_DOWNLOAD to download the PDF file on our local system.
Here is a sample code of program to perform the function.

Need to split the output into files
Hi,
I have a query regarding splitting the output into different files. Please help to resolve that.
I have have select query query...
SELECT INDEX_NAME FROM DBA_INDEXES WHERE TABLE_NAME=<Table Name>;
If it returns less than 4 indexes then we have create one table and have to move those into the files.
For example...
File_1.sql
====
index1
index2
index3
If select statement returns more than 4 indexes then we have create 4 files and have to splict those indexes and has to move to those 4 files.
For example....
If select statement returns 13 records then...
File_1.sql File_2.sql File_3.sql File_4.sql
===== ====== ======= =======
index1 index4 index7 index10
index2 index5 index8 index11
index3 index6 index9 index12
index13
Index no need to be in order in any file and any file can I extra index in it.
Can be ok if we have any procedure or shell script. Please help me on this?
We are using 10.2.0.1 oracle db. Please let me know if you need any thing else?
Thanks
PathanAre you trying to put the output from SQL reports in different files?
Some reporting tools can do this.
You have a couple of options to do this.
Some reporting tools support the functinality to write to different files.
Another way is to write a PL/SQL procedure using UTL_FILE, which can open multiple files based on your conditions and to write to them as you need to.
An older, less elegant solution is to write nested SQL*PLUS scripts spooling to different files with the queries you need. A top level script would invoke the others, something like (untested)
--in first script
@subscript1
@subscript2
--in subscript1.sql
spool whatever.lst

Query Output to download in flat file through APD or other means?
Hello Experts,
I am currently on BW3.5 system and have requirement to load query output in flat file in .csv format. I checked the option of APD but looks like we cant directly load the query output in flat file like in APD (BW 3.5 system) .
One way i can think of it...load the query output in transactional ODS and built an infospoke on it to write into flat file.
Please advice if there are any better methods to store the query output in flat files.

RanadipHi,
You can store the Query output data into DSO through the APD process.

Is there a way to combine their query results into a single function
say I have a bunch of functions that return a query:
<cffunction name="getDeals" access="remote"
returntype="query">
<cffunction name="getDeals2" access="remote"
returntype="query">
is there a way to combine their query results into a single
function that returns a struct of the various results?Umm, it's probably more suited to an array - effectively
making it into a list of queries. You'd then loop the array and
output each.
I use a similar approach when creating system messages to the
user. Most of my functions that are called do their bit, then at
the end call another function I call "messages". This function
grabs whatever my function sends and appends it to a messages
array.
This way enables me to output a long list of messages -
because I could be calling several functions at the same time. If I
just output a message from each function, each one would overwrite
the other. So I'd get one message at a time.
Immediately after it's output, I then destroy the message
array so that old messages aren't kept inside of it.

Programme required for query output
Hi,
We have created a Query in system which will give output of non-printed invoices in system. User select these invoices list and prints it manually.
Now user has comeup with a requirement that he wanted a programme that selects the query output (non printed invoices) and that automatically adds the output type XXXX.
Pls let me know does anyone know about such progrmme??
Thanks in advance
Srikkyhi,
1. sorry we have some limitation in query.
2. copy the logic into Zprogram and create newly.
3. add check boxes for each invoice in teh report.
4. keep select all and deselect all push buttons on the top.
5. write a SPOOL request inside the program which converts into PDF.
6. and execute for getting print out.
or
an out put is generated automatically when you save an invoice.
requisites: a spool program has to be attached to the driver program and execute the spool by selecting it.

Help with formatting multiline output into comma delimited ordered output
I have 2 tables:
SQL> desc table_1;
Name Null? Type
===================================
ID NOT NULL NUMBER
DATA1 NOT NULL VARCHAR2(440)
DATA2 NOT NULL VARCHAR2(1024)
SQL> desc table_2;
Name Null? Type
===================================
ID NOT NULL NUMBER
ATTNAME NOT NULL VARCHAR2(255)
ATTVAL VARCHAR2 (4000)
DATA1 NOT NULL CHAR(1)
DATA2 VARCHAR2 (2000)
DATA3 VARCHAR2 (255)
I need to get ATTVAL from where e.g. ATTNAME=att_name1 to ATTNAME=att_name6 from every entry (with its unique ID), and format the output into comma delimited format in e.g. this order:
att_val1,att_val3,att_val6,att_val4,att_val5,att_val6
So e.g. for entry with ID "9812" from the query below, the output I need would be:
187,179,156,134,1436,1809
What I've got so far is as follows:
SQL> SELECT id,attname,attval FROM table_2 WHERE id in (SELECT id from table_1 WHERE data2='xxx')
AND attname in ('att_name1','att_name3','att_name6','att_name4','att_name5','att_name6');
ID ATTNAME ATTVAL
===============================
1970 att_name1 123
1970 att_name2 abc
1970 att_name3 1234
1970 att_name4 def
1970 att_name5 1134
1970 att_name6 ghj
9812 att_name4 134
9812 att_name5 1436
9812 att_name3 156
9812 att_name1 187
9812 att_name2 179
9812 att_name6 1809
77 att_name1 1980
77 att_name5 1867
77 att_name3 174
77 att_name4 1345
77 att_name2 1345
77 att_name6 1345
but I don't know how to format the output comma limited in certain order. (or if this is the best way of getting the data out)
Would someone have idea how this could be done?846954 wrote:
Thanks Frank!
I got much further now :).
I've got Oracle 10g So I used the "SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH" for my query.
Now I get the output in the format I want, however, it comes out in the order that the attributes are (which is pretty random).The values you posted are in order: 'attval1' < 'attval2' < ...
So I'm using this now(had to use "|" as separator because SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH would not work with comma due to some of the attval having comma in them ):The values you posted don't contain and commas.
You're hiding what the problem is. It would really help if you posted actual data. It always helps if you post CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements for a little sample data, and the results you want from that data.
Assuming you really have something that has to be in a certain order, and that order is not based on anything in the values themselves, then DECODE might be a good way to do it. Storing the sort value in a table might be even better.
It looks like you were using an Oracle 9 exanple. In Oracle 10, using SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH is simpler:
SELECT id
, LTRIM ( SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH (attval, '|')
, '|'
) AS attvals
FROM (
SELECT id
, attval
, ROW_NUMBER () OVER ( PARTITION BY id
ORDER BY DECODE (...)
) AS curr
WHERE id IN (
SELECT id
FROM table_1
WHERE data2 = 'xxx'
AND attname IN ('attname1','attname2','attname3','attname4','attname5','attname6')
WHERE CONNECT_BY_ISLEAF = 1
START WITH curr = 1
CONNECT BY curr = PRIOR curr + 1
AND id = PRIOR id
;You don't need two almost-identical ROW_NUMBERs; one will do just fine. -

Store Query Output or Cache Query
My search query returns almost about 5000 records or more at
a time out of 7million records. and I am outputing about 35 records
at a time on a page. The problem is when the user pages to the next
page, I hit the DB again and again through the paging process of
the user.
The Cache attribute of <cfquery> does not work when you
are using <cfqueryparam> methods in the Components which we
are using.
How can I Store all the outputs of the Query returned into a
var and cycle through it instead of hitting the DB every time or is
there another method of caching this returned query output?
Please give example.Thanks, that did the trick, another problem that came out of
this is Internet Explorer. When Users page to lets say page #6 and
then use the back button to come back, when it reaches the page
one,the Query executes again. This only happens with internet
explorer. I have tried caching the page but still same problem
persists. I have changed the form method to "get" and it is still
problematic.
