Funcion to display query output

Hi,
I want to create a funcion like below.
I will pass select query to function from my java application and function should return query output. Then I will use output into my application display part, results may be thousands of rows. Will it work ? If works which is the faster between calling a funcion and using "open resultset" method.
Please tell me how to create funcion like above and how to use funcion returned values in java program.
Could some one guide me.

Hi ,
I am fetching data as follows.
ITEM CODE, DESCRIPTION, UOM, PRICELISTNAME, PRICELISTVALUE
Item can exists in more than one price list.
I want get the output as follows
ITEM CODE, DESCRIPTION, UOM, PLIST1 PLIST2
X X X PLIST VAL1 PLISTVAL2
Y Y Y PLISTVAL2
Item X exists in PLIST1 and PLIST2, but, item Y exists in only Plist2.
Can this be possible. Please let me know, if some one as solution for this requirement.

How to Align Query output in vertical grids in Classic Reports

HI all,
I have a requirement to display query output in a vertical grid.
For example, If my query output is :
SQL, PL/SQL, Forms,Reports, XMLP, APEX etc then output should be displayed in following format:
1. SQL 2. PL/SQL 3. Forms
4. Reports 5. XMLP 6. APEX

ERROR displaying in the query output... urgetn

For the amount keyfigures in the query output it displaying ERROR after the amount like ex- 2000 ERROR.

i have created only two keyfigures EMP_BASIC and EMP_HRA. and in the transformations i have mapped with 0DOC_CURRCY.
but in the report its showing ERROR only after the amount. plz tell me exactly with what field i need to map???

Create SP that returns value and at the same time displays query result in output window

I would like create an SP which will return the records from the table and also return value to my c# client application.
For Example:
Select * from employee returns all the query results in output window.
Now I want to create an SP
Create procedure Test
As

The above algo should return 1 0r 0 to c# client application and at the same time display all employees in sql query output window.

Why? and No!
Why? Your procedure generates a resultset of some number of rows. You check the resultset for the presence of rows to determine if "anything is there". You don't need a separate value to tell you this. Note that it helps
to post tsql that is syntactically correct. While we're at it, if you just need to know that rows exist there is no need to count them since that does more work than required. Simply test for existence using the appropriately-named function
"exists". E.g., if exists (select * from dbo.employee).
No! A stored procedure does not display anything anywhere. The application which executes the procedures is responsible for the consumption of the resultset; it chooses what to do and what to display.
Lastly, do not get into the lazy habit of using the asterisk in your tsql code. That is not best practice. Along with that, you should also get into the following best practice habits:
schema-qualify your objects (i.e., dbo.employee)
terminate every statement - it will eventually be required.

How to display header title for 0MATERIAL texts in the query output?

Display Selection variables on Query output

Hi,
I have web template used for reports. When user enters say 0calyear as 2005 on selections screen and runs the report, the data result is shown, but the selections entered(2005) is not shown on the navigation block..How to display those values entered on selection screen.
The display info button does show, but users do not want to press display query info button..

the values of the variable will only show when the variable can be changed during navigation and this feature is also enabled in this specific query context.

for your own reports (beginning with z and y)and queries this should be no problem. Create a program, which makes your demanded heading, and include it to your reports.

How to Display PHP Output as Portlet in HTML Region using utl_http.request

I wanted to be able to parse PHP functions to add more functionality to my Page. nothing fantasy, something simple like: http://phpsysinfo.sourceforge.net/phpsysinfo-dev/?template=classic
Where the realtime values are retrieved from the OS. this represent some kind of problem to me, I know how to do it from Shell Script, Perl or PHP, but not from PL/SQL.
Based on my experience using Oracle Portal, Portlets, I think we really can make use of the feature used in Portal called Web Clipping. [ This feature basically goes to some Site a retrieve part of the site to show in the current page]. Well the PL/SQL utility utl_http.request does something similar.
Make sure your request page does not retrieve some headers because that would cause a problem in your page and will not show up.
This is what I did:
 1.- Grant Privileges to execute [ utl_http.request ] to the owner of your schema.
login into the OracleXE / APEX as SYS then go to the Object Navigator, then click on packages, find the utl_http.request then click on it, later click on grant and select your schema owner for your applicaion.
 2.- Logout as SYS then login as your application schema user. just to test the functionality go to the sql command then enter the following command and then click run:
 select substr(utl_http.request('http://www.oracle.com/'),1, 255) from dual; 
If your output is:

 Wow It worked , this really could be useful !!, If not go back to step 1 and check your permissions to execute, or perhaps your Internet connectivity.
3.- Once we know the package works and we can retrieve content from the Internet. lets go to some of our pages add some HTML Region.
4.- Create an item and put into the new region. the source will be SQL, For the purposes of my test the query to the Oracle Page failed, so I decided to give a shot with a simple PHP script with no headers.
The internal server is: http://mytest.com/hello_world.php
Where the content of the hello_world.php is:

?>
This PHP works fine and display the basic Hello World. can be the same server or not, also noticed this can be another port perhaps using something like Ruby,Mason or Java.
 5.- Finally in my Item the source type is SQL and looks like this:
 select substr(utl_http.request('http://mytest.com/hello_world.php'),1, 255) from dual; 
Apply the changes and run the page !!!
Excelent It worked as expected. now you know how use utl_http.request to create webclipping in your OracleXE / APEX from remote pages, or how to use it to parse the output from CGI, Perl, PHP, Ruby or Java pages.
Note: [ Just make sure to strip the headers or parse into a PL/SQL Procedure to clean then show ]

Sorry, from your post in the LabVIEW board I did not understand that it was the Output message that you were looking for.
I thought you wanted the results from your test steps displayed on the user interface.
It is the “Output Panel” in the sequence editor that displays your output message, but I do not know if there is default Output panel activeX indicator for user interface that the TestStand engine would update automatically like it does the execution view.
Maybe someone else knows

How to replace # or Not assigned with blank in BEx Query Output.

Hi,
While running the query through BEx Query desginer or Anlayser, I am getting # or Not assigned where there are no values.
The requirement is to "Replace # or Not assigned with a blank" in the output.
I want to know, is there any setting in BEx query desginer where we can do this. How to do this.
Please share your inputs on this. Any inputs on this would be appreciated.

Is it possible to insert a table value in query output?

I am developing a query in which i have to display is a few values from a table in the output. I want to know if it is possible to directly get the values from the table thru the user exit and display in output or should i first put the values of the table into a infoprovider and get it from there in the query?

Hi Sujai,
You will have to put the values from the table into an infoProvider and then create a query on that infoProvider. Data from table cannot be directly shown in a query.

Ad-Hoc query output issue

Hello Experts,
Recently we have upgraded the system and we are facing issues with Ad-Hoc query output.
Issue : After entering data in selection fields and click on "OUTPUT" button we are getting output. now I changed the selection field data and click on "OUTPUT" button then we are getting message "No Data selected".
But when clicked on "HIT LIST" button for changed selection fields then we are getting HIT LIST count and after click of "OUTPUT" button we are getting output.
So at this point this is unclear why it is working after HIT LIST? This is not consistent but appearing most of the time.

Thank you for reply. Yes I have checked SQ03, 02 and 01.
It is not specific to particular query it is appears to be for all the queries.
The important thing is to get the output we need to click first HIT LIST button and then OUTPUT. Is there any specific settings maintained for displaying output without clicking HIT LIST ?

Once I export/download Query Output to Excel the fields are not in the order of Actul Query output
Char fields are treated as Key fields and displayed Left side.
As it is a SAP Query where to keep this kind of setting(key columns = 0).?

when u download data to excel sheet, u can't handle the data from SAP....The data in excel takes excel properties and accordingly data gets adjusted to the formats of excel.
If u need formatting u need to use OLE concepts in SAP from which u can set the formats of Excel Sheet.

Suppress zero rows in the query output.

Dear Experts,
We executed a query. In the output the values are displayed based on a hierarchy on gl account.
But in the output some rows dont have any values i.e 0 value. Still those rows are appearing in the report output.I want to
supress entire row. How to supress the entire row if no value i.e zeros are appearing in the query output.

go to change mode of query
in that set the query properties /go to the query property secreen
in the "Display " tab set the supperssion as "active (all value=0)" and in structure properties select the check box "also use zero suppression for strucure element"
