Query Perfomance - Time, Read Texts

Hi all,
I have an performance issue regarding an BI 7 Webtemplate. Most of the time is used to read texts. Is there a way to speed this up? Due to BIA everything else is nicely fast.

Hello,
Try to restrict the query with more selections and try to select small number of records.
navigation attr and infoobjects will not have much impact.
Right now the query is selecting lots of records so try to reduce it by having more selections in the query.

  • Bad Query Performance in Oracle Text

    Hello everyone, I have the following problem:
    I have a table, TABLE_A from now on, a table of more or less 1,000.000 rows, with a CONTEXT index, using FILE_DATASTORE, CTXSYS.DEFAULT_STORAGE, CTXSYS.NULL_FILTER, CTXSYS.BASIC_LEXER and querying the index in the following way:
    SELECT /*+FIRST_ROWS*/ A.ID, B.ID2, SCORE(1) FROM TABLE_A A, TABLE_B WHERE A.ID = B.ID AND CONTAINS(A.PATH, '<SOME KW>', 1) > 0 ORDER BY SCORE(1) DESC
    where TABLE_B has another 1,000.000 rows.
    The problem is that the query response time is much higher after some time of inactivity regarding those tables. How can I avoid this behavior?. The fact is that those inactivity times (not more than 20min) are core to my application, so I always get long long response times for my queries.
    Is there any cache or cache time parameter that affects this behavior? I have checked the Oracle Text documentation without finding anything about that...
    More data: I am using Oracle 9.2.0.1, but I have tested with the latest patches an the behavior is the same...

    This appears to be a generic database or OS issue, not a Text specific issue. It really depends on what your application is doing.
    If your application is doing some other database activity such as queries or DMLs on other non-text tables, chances are Oracle Text related data blocks are being aged out of cache. You can either increase the db_cache_size init
    parmater or try to keep the text tables and index tables blocks in cache using ALTER TABLE commands.
    If your app is doing NON-database activity, then chances are your application is taking up much of the machine's physical memory such that OS is swapping ORACLE out of the memory. In which case, you may want to consider to add more memory to the machine or have ORACLE run on a separate machine by itself.

  • 'Could not read text' pop-up in IT0128 (Notifications)

    Hi,
    We have customized the Notifications subtype to Z1, Z2, Z3 and Z4. The configuration works every time the Create button is used. However, once the record already exists and the Change button is ticked a pop-up occurs indicating 'Could not read text'.
    I have already tried configuring the text in SO10 to be consistent with that in Infotype 0128 but it does not work. We would like to keep the subtype values as is (Z1-Z4).
    If anyone needs further information, let me know. Appreciate any thoughts. Thanks!

    Hi,
    Did you also customize the subtypes of your notifications? If that is the case, we have the same query. We investigated the issue already and came up with several options, but it is still approval to the business side. For me, option 1 is still the best way to go.
    OPTION 1:
    In order to correct the issue, delete the customized subtypes and configure back the original subtype 1: General Notification and 2: Personal Notification. Configure the customized subtypes deleted in the text name field by putting the values in transaction Code SO10. Then add the text name field in the Infotype.
    OPTION 2:
    A Possible Code Change for Infotype 128 by commenting out the module pool that validates the text name field and subtype in the Infotype. Then create a new Include program that will cater to the customized subtype.
    OPTION 3:
    No Changes will occur but take note that changing, displaying and copying are not possible in PA30 and PA20. The only possible way to view Infotype 128 is the Overview button.
    For those that have a different solution, please feel free to drop a line. I hope these options will help you as well.

  • How to get Query response Time?

    II am on BI 7.0. I ran some queries using RSRT command. I want to find how much time the queries took.
    I went to
    st03 -> expert mode -> BI system load-> select today / week/month according to the query runtime day
    I do not see any Info Providers. Query was on a cube so why no Info Providers.
    Does something have to turned on InfoPorvider to show.
    When I look  in RSDDSTAT_OLAP table, I do see many rows but cannot make any sense. Is there some documentation on how to get total  query time from this table?
    Is there any other way to get query response time?

    why not use RSRT ? You can add database statistics option in "Execut & Debug" and you get all the runtime metrics of your query
    In transaction RSRT, enter the query name and press u2018Execute +Debugu2019.
    Selecting u2018Display Statistics Datau2019 .
    After executing the query will return a list of the measured metrics.
    The event id / text describes the steps  (duration in seconds):
    "OLAP: Read data" gives the SQL statements repsonse time (ok - because the SAP
    application server acts as an Oracle client a little network traffic from the db server is included,
    but as far as you not transferring zillions of rows it can be ignored)
    But it gives you much more (i.e. if the OLAP cache gets used or not )...
    In the "Aggreagate statistcs" you get all the infoproviders involved in that query.

  • Reading text from server socket stream

    I have a basic cd input program i've been trying to figure out the following problem for a while now, the user enters the artist and title etc and then a DOM (XML) file is created in memory this is then sent to the server. The server then echos back the results which is later printed on a html page by reading the replys from the server line by line.
    The server must be run it listens for clients connecting the clients connect and send DOM documents through the following jsp code.

    I'm suppose to modify the commented sections labled with #.
    #1,2 are correct but i have doubts on the 3rd and 4th modification.
    for #3 i changed so i serializes to the socket not to the "out" object:

    with "out" it prints out some of the results entered but it just hangs i'm thinking it might be the while loop that i added in #4. If i changed it to serialize the socket XMLSerializer serializer = new XMLSerializer(writer, format); it doesn't print out nothing at all; just a blank screen where it hangs.
    I can post the rest of the code (server thats in java and cdinput.html) but since i want to keep my post short and if required i'll post it later on i also omitted some of the code where it creates the DOM textnodes etc to keep my post short.

    On your previous thread, why did you say the server was using http POST and application/xml content type when it quite obviously isn't, but a direct socket communication that abuses XML comments for message end delimiters?
    The comments imply you need to wait for "<!--QUIT-->" on a line by itself, but your loop is waiting for "QUIT".

  • Read text from purchase order.

    I have few queries regarding texts in a document.
    1. How do i identify the id for a text of a line item in any PO document?
    2. Secondly a pgm is using read_text to get this text. before which 'stxh' is queried. But when i debugged i found that for a particular document there is no entry in this table though there is a text in the document and hence doesnot perform a read_text. The text is auto generated through info records. How to retrieve this text?

    I have seen some PO's which have info rec texts in that, which gets pulled by the above code...first thing is its id is F02 which exist in STXH table also there is other text with F01 id, and hence the table it_itab gets both these text hence no pbm.
    but i came across a PO which has only one text which is info rec text with id F05 and is not store in stxh and hence doesnot get pulled by read_text fm. How do i change my cod to get this text which should not hamper other PO's as well.
    As mentioned in above msgs, this F05 could be retrieved by providing object name as EINE.

  • Query execution time

    Dear SCN,
    I am new to BOBJ Environment. I have created a webi report on top of bex query by using BISC connection. Bex query is build for Vendor Ageing Analysis. My bex query will take very less time to execute the report (max 1 min). But in case of webi is takeing around 5 min when i click on refresh. I have not used any conditions,filters,restrictions are done at webi level all are done at bex level only.
    Please let me know techniques to optimize the query execution time in webi. Currently we are in BO 4.0.

    Based on what you have posted so far, you may want to share details of following questions (in addition to details in above link)
    1) How much time does the query currently take to execute? How much time do you expect it to take? Also, how are you measuring query execution time?
    2) Your plan suggests that the query is expected to return 810K rows. Is this figure close to actual number of records? What are you doing with this huge amount of data?

  • Help required in optimizing the query response time

    Hi,
    I am working on a application which uses a jdbc thin client. My requirement is to select all the table rows in one table and use the column values to select data in another table in another database.
    The first table can have maximum of 6 million rows but the second table rows will be around 9000.
    My first query is returning within 30-40 milliseconds when the table is having 200000 rows. But when I am iterating the result set and query the second table the query is taking around 4 millisecond for each query.
    the second query selection criteria is to find the value in the range .
    for example my_table ( varchar2 column1, varchar2 start_range, varchar2 end_range);
    My first query returns a result which then will be used to select using the following query
    select column1 from my_table where start_range < my_value and end_range> my_value;
    I have created an index on start_range and end_range. this query is taking around 4 millisseconds which I think is too much.
    I am using a preparedStatement for the second query loop.
    Can some one suggest me how I can improve the query response time?

    Pre-requistee: you should know how to pass ARRAY objects to oracle and receive resultsets from java. There are 1000s of samples available on net.
    I have written a sample db code for the same interraction.
    Procedure get_list takes a array input from java and returns the record set back to java. You can change the tablenames and the creteria.

  • Read text in pdf files

    Hi Ppl,
    Is it possible to read text from pdf file ? We can use activex controls to open and display pdf files, but these activex doesn seem to support reading of text from these pdf files. Help me out plz.

    The full PDF format is VERY complex. Probably the reason why PDFBox was choking on one of the PDF files of a former poster. You are of course free to implement a PDF parser in LabVIEW but expect this to be a project where a man year of effort certainly won't be enough to even get close to what PDFBox can do. Then decide if you want to give it away for free just for the good karma of it, or attempt to sell it with a potential of maybe one license every year.
    Just look at the opposite direction: Creating a PDF file from within LabVIEW. There are several Toolkits out there who can do that and they already took a considerable amount of time to develop. Yet the generation of a small subset of PDF features in a file is several exponents easier than parsing and interpreting any exisiting PDF document that might have been created by tools like Adobe Acrobate, with Adobe as the creater of PDF potentially using all the bells and whistles they eventually put into the PDF standard over those two or more decades, including quite a few bugs that eventually got documented as a feature.

    It is writing continously in the file even if i use \n for new line ...

    I used "\n" after reading each line .. i want output file also same as input file ... how do i break each line by the time writing into text file .. "\n" is working in word pad but now working in notepad ... in note pad i am getting some thing like rectangle insted of "\n" ....

    \n works just fine, and every text editor in the world except Notepad understands that it is supposed to be a line-ending character. You don't have a problem, except in your choice of text editor. If somebody is forcing you to use Notepad then you'll have to output "\r\n" instead.

  • Can I save and read text files on a server that I host?

    Hello everyone,
    I am a java hobbiest. I was wondering if I set up my own server, running out of my house, could I have my applets save to my computer and read from my computer without having to learn JDBC and a DATABASE language. In other words could i just have my applet save and read text files from and to my server?
    I'm trying to set up a sight for my 5th grade class where parents can log into. Thanks for your time.
    Oh yeah, which is easier, learning how to set up a server or learning JDBC and a DATABASE language?

    Long answer: For this to work, the first thing you're going to need is a static IP address and a DNS name registered -actually you don't necessarily need #2 but you're probably gonna want it and it's by far the easier of the steps.
    As far as I know to get a fixed IP address you've either gotta be directly attached to a larger network (ie university network) or get a leased line from an ISP.
