Query - strings in different format

I am trying to query data that is not all in the same format. Example: "st. louis" , "st louis", "saint louis". does anyone have any ideas about doing this?

Invalid column name in query string - using Format function

In my post just before this one the problem was solved for writing a query string using a date range. The rest of the query string includes the same date field (Call_Date) but formatted as 'MMM-YY'. I get an invalid column name error when I add this field to the query string. Here is the rest of the query string:

Format(CALL_DATE,'mmm-yy')
in my ADO query string? I appologize for not being more familiar with Oracle Sql. Any help greatly appreciated.

"date format not recognized"
when I add "to_char( call_date, 'mmm-yy' )" to the query string. I tried using all uppercase, but that did not make a difference. Do I need to use to_date inside the to_char maybe?

I was wondering if anyone knew how to convert a string into different formats,
to enable it to be stored in a mysql db.

When i try to print the user entered date (dd/MM/yyyy)(which i am storing in a string) the program dispalys nothing. and everey time i enter a valid date it displas "invalid From date entered ". I need to store the user entered date into a string because i need that for further use. All my intesion is to get two dates from user in dd/MM/yyyy. Strore them in certain variable. How to manage Locale info in the URL path, but not the query string

We are building an application using Struts 1.1 and Tiles, on Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.3...
I know this is a strange question... but we have a requirement to represent the locale info in the URL string using one of the following options:
option 1: /eng/page.do?id=2 for english.../fra/page.do?id=2
option 2: /page-eng.do?id=2 for english.... and /page-fra.do?id=2 for french
We need to represent the 3 letter ISO lang code either in the directory structure, or suffix the page name (in our case, the struts action name)... we cannot replicate this using a parameter in the query string. I know this is odd, but that is what we are told to implement.
Is there any robust way of implementing either option in Struts 1.1, JSP, JSTL etc...?
Currently, we are looking at using a servlet filter to intercept the HTTP requests, parse the URL string, and extract the ISO lang value, and set locale and forward on the request.
This poses a few problems... adding additional action mappings (page-eng... page-fra... page) to our struts-xml.config file to handle lang permuations... but the biggest issue is all the embedded html:link action values throughout our code...
Because all our public facing URLs must comply with the rule, we need to change the html:link action to point to a different action, based on locale.
Very inefficent, and I'm sure not industry standard best practice... we are using Tiles, and resource bundles for all our labels etc... but fall short in meeting this rule with regards to URLs and locale.
Any advice or tips etc.. is greatly appreciated.

The filter option sounds like a good solution. So it can receive the urls and parse them appropriately.
You just need to take it one step further.
Additional actionmappings in your struts-config should not be necessary.
Filter:
- analyses the url and sets the appropriate locale
- adjusts the url such that the next level of the chain does not have to know anything about the locale being encoded in the url string.
Thus your struts classes and mappings can remain unchanged
/eng/page.do or /fra/page.do once through the filter should just look like /page.do to struts.
That should get rid of half of your headache.
Next the issue of generating urls.
There are two approaches I can see here
1 - use the filter approach again, this time with some post processing. Gather the generated HTML in a buffer, and do a find/replace on any urls generated, to put the locale encoding into them.
2 - Customise struts to produce urls in this format. This would involve the html:link tag, and the html:form tag at the least (maybe others?). Get the source code for struts, and grab the html:link tag code. Extend that class to generate urls as you want them to be generated. I think you would need to extend the class org.apache.struts.taglib.html.LinkTag and override the protected method calculateURL. You would then have to edit/modify the struts-html tld to point the link tag at your classes rather than the standard ones.
Option 1 is architecturally good because it gives you a well defined layer/border between having the locale encoded in the url, and not having it there. However it involves doing a find/replace on every html going out. This would catch all urls, whether generated by html:link tag or not.
Option 2 requires customising struts for your own requirements, which may be a bit daunting, but has the advantage of generating the urls correctly without the extra overhead involved with option 1. Of course you would have to ensure that ALL urls are generated with the html:link tag.
On reflection, I think option 1 is preferable, as both easier and quicker to implement, and doing a better separation in the architecture.

Page not cached because "URL contains query string"

I have used JDeveloper to produce a search/display page using ADF where the user enters search criteria and then presses a Search command button. The parameters are POSTed to the webserver, and I need to devise a cache rule to cache pages using the entered search criteria so that another seach for the same values can be served from the cache.
I have created a rule that will cache GET, GET with Query String and POST.
I have put .* in the POST body. When I do this, the first query page is retrieved from the origin server and cached and resulting queries with different search criteria are returned the data for that first search (ie. it's not taking into account the search parameters).
If I switch off that rule and look at what's being received, I see the following:

It's not clear to me where (and how - in what format) I specify parameters to ignore and parameters to consider. I have tried listing these 3 parameters in the URL parameters table for the Rule (I did not specify a value - should I have done?) but when I do this, the page is not cached and shows the reason for this is that "URL Contains Query String".
Can someone explain how to specify important POST body parameters and unimportant POST body parameters?

Header and Footer in different format

Hi ,
I am using a single RDF file to generate a report in 4
different formats by giving the destype during rumtime. I am
facing a problem regarding the Header and Footer . My requirment
is to show the Header and Footer once in HTML (Header on first
page and Footer on last page) and in case of RTF andPDF on each
page. The header and footer contains formula columns in which I
query from database.
Can anyone help me how to do this using one single RDF file.

Header on first page in HTML but we also getting blank rows
between records wherever we are hidding the Header .

Dynamic Interface in Query String does not work?

i have exposed a interface as a webservice with the help of the Define Web Service in Configuration Builder.
In the SOAP Sender Communication Channel i have checked the options Use Encoded Headers and Use Query String
The url of the webservice looks like this:

This works which is great, i can now retrieve supplier details with this webservice. Now i want to expose another interface as a webservice. That URL looks like this:

The problem is that when i try to call the second web service (EventBooking) that is routes to the mapping of the GetDetails interface, i can see this in SXMB_MONI. Therefore it gives an Error.
When i try both scenarios in Configuration Builder they both work fine, only the webservice call of EventBooking ends up in the Message Mapping of GetDetail.... Why? And how to solve this?
Anyone have experience with the feature mentioned in the SAP note?

After some further examination it seems that both calls are picked up by the same interface. In the RWB both the messages are picked up by the MIOS_GetDetails...
How can i fix this?

Different format in one cell by formula?

does someone know if it is possible to grab and connect text with the & operator and set different formats (bold, italic...) with a command in the formula?
For example I have different lines in one cell done with the CHAR(10) and want to have the last line in bold format. Is this kind of manipulation possible?

As far as I know, there is no such function.
We may apply different styles in a cell by hand, not by a formula.
I checked that the concatenation of the contents of cells with different styles result with a string in standard style.

How to build dynamic query strings in the query using DB adapter 'Pure SQL'

Dear Forum,
I am building an application which will access DB to fetch some result set. The query involves retrieving data from multiple tables(nearly 10 tables). So I have created a DB adapter using 'execute pure sql' option. With this query works fine, but my inputs parameters will vary. So I need to make my query dynamic to append the query strings at runtime depending on the inputs.
For example I have 3 input variables - input1,input2 and input3 (in my request xsd) which are used in the pure sql query. Now if I get a 4th input parameter input4 in the request, I need to append this to query string as 'AND input4=[some value]' at runtime. Otherwise my query should have only 3 parameters. Please suggest how this can be achieved.

This is a strange requirement, depending on the columns you have and what are optional in them, one way is to have separate operations and each opeartion will have different inputs and for each operation , a different DB Adapter is called. But this way, it results in more number of operations for the service as well as more number of references in the composite. Even if you pass the column inputs to the SQL procedure, it will result in a large number of if-else cases..

Access query strings in a search results page with custom display template

am trying to create a custom display template in my search results page , so i went to download the itemdefault html file and renamed it and saved as different file.and am started to updating.
the issue i am facing here is : in my search results page there are 2 query strings, which are passed by anotehr .net appln[ another asp.net appln will be sending the query string to my sp 2013 search results page]

FLVPlayback source with query strings (parameters) doesn't load

I'm currently trying to use the FLVPlayback component and pass a source FLV that's living on a cloudfront webserver. The problem is that the cloudfront requires authentication in the form of query strings in the source FLV. For example:

As soon as I take away the "dummyquery", it works fine. When I add a query string, it breaks (nothing loads).
Here is the error output I get:

It adds on "&FLVPlaybackVersion=2.1" to the end.
I saw a different article that said I should add a dummy variable at the end like "&dummy=.flv" because I was told that Flash is basically looking for an .flv extension at the end and you can trick it, but it doesn't work because they add on additional code.
Does anyone know how to work around this?

I know you already found a workaround to make this work, just figured I'd post an alternative to editing the FLVPlayback compoent. I also am retrieving an FLV file via a .Net ASHX file. To keep both worlds happy, I used a URLRewriter module to translate for me... this one translates what I am using for the FLVPlayback component source:
http://domain.com/flv/22.flv to be resolved as http://domain.com/API/resource.ashx?ID=22
There is of course no flv folder in the root of my application...
Here is my very simple URLRewriter class in vb.net:

and make sure you add this to your web.config.. this will cause URLRewriter to intercept all HTTP requests, and redirect as needed.

Search Engine Safe query strings

hi guys, ok i got a good one for you...
so ive heard that google (and users) like it if you chang:
www.abc.com/somepage.cfm?productid=1234
into
www.abc.com/products/red-ones/1234
or similar.
so if i'm going to do this which is the best format? (i'm
building the site from scratch so have a blank canvass)
option 1:
www.abc.com/products/car-parts/fuel-systems/1234
this option - looks nice but actually points to a *virtual*
page (www.abc.com/products/car-parts/fuel-systems/1234/index.cfm)
that is several sub directories deep; im sure i read somewhere that
the closer a page is the root the better google will rate it... so
maybe this is better..
www.abc.com/car-parts-fuel-systems/1234 or
www.abc.com/car-parts-fuel-systems-1234
-less visually attractive to my way of thinking but perhaps
google would rate this page higher than the option1 one?
or how about this (which had been suggested to me but i dont
like)
www.abc.com/products.cfm/car-parts/fuel-systems/1234
i dont like the above one as it isnt www3 correct is it?
although i can see how it is possibly nicer than
www.abc.com/products.cfm?carpartid=1234
so what do you guys think?

hi Nick,
whilst you handle it all in CF via stub files a much cleaner
approach is to use web server rewrites. On IIS you need to purchase
something called ISAPI_Rewrite and on Apache it's free called
mod_rewrite.
What this does is allow the web server to pattern match your
incoming url requests via regular expressions and rewrite them on
the fly.
For example,
I'm currently working on a fusebox site, that has big massive
query strings like
http://mysite/index.cfm?fuseaction=links.display
with mod_rewrite, I'm actually accessing the pages as;
http://mysites/links/display
- much much cleaner
and you can get as complex as you like, for example to get
information about a product into my URL i have one for example;
http://mysites/products/product/1234/a-super-cool-widget
and i have a rewrite rule that is then plucking out the
'1234' from the URL and actually serving the page;
http://mysites/index.cfm?fuseaction=products.product&productid=1234
have a look into that and see how you get on,
edit: I should say that you have to write the rewrite rules
yourself - they're not that magic and with a little bit of time you
can usually get them working pretty quick.

Reverse proxy query strings

Hi
got a reversse proxy running but no url's are cache where a query string is in the url. gif,doc, pdf are cached ok. what the max value for query-maxlen? will it accept 2000?
any other ideas to check and try. i can't see any log into to tell my why it not cachiiiing these requests.

User clicks on page tab and requests wcm001/idcplg?idcservice=SS_Get_page&nodeid=309&sssourcenodeid=308
nothing happens, the home page i displayed agian.
query_maxlen=2000. set it to 32 and no difference. HTML header traces show web browser did make a new request to the proxy server for the different query string
