Query to pull out Tables from Workbooks/Folders

Hi,
Do anybody have a query which helps to pull out tables which are used in the Workbook or folders, without opening the workbook or a folder ? Your earliest help is Appreciated.
Thanks,
Ashok

Hi Farheen......
Please try this........
SELECT T0.HousBnkAct, T1.CardName, T0.PymCode, T0.DflAccount,
T0.DflBranch, T0.BankCtlKey, T1.DocNum,T1.NumAtCard, T2.LineTotal, T2.Dscription,
T3.Branch, T3.Street FROM OCRD T0 LEFT JOIN OPCH T1 ON T0.CardCode = T1.CardCode
LEFT JOIN PCH1 T2 ON T1.DocEntry = T2.DocEntry LEFT JOIN DSC1 T3 ON
T0.HousActKey = T3.AbsEntry WHERE T1.DocDate >='[%0]' AND T1.DocDate <='[%1]' AND T1.DocStatus = 'o' AND T0.PymCode = 'EFT'

  • Need help in writing a select query to pull required data from 3 tables.

    Hi,
I have three tables EmpIDs,EmpRoles and LatestRoles. I need to write a select Query to get roles of all employees present in EmpIDs table by referring EmpRoles and LatestRoles.
The condition is first look into table EmpRoles and if it has more than one entry for a particular Employee ID than only need to get the Role from LatestRoles other wise consider
    the role from EmpRoles .
    Sample Script:
    Create Table #EmpIDs
    (EmplID int )
    Create Table #EmpRoles
    (EMPID int,Designation varchar(50))
    Create Table #LatestRoles
    EmpID int,
    Designation varchar(50)
    Insert into #EmpIDs values (1),(2),(3)
    Insert into #EmpRoles values (1,'Role1'),(2,'Role1'),(2,'Role2'),(3,'Role1')
    Insert into #LatestRoles values (2,'Role2')
Employee ID 2 is having two roles defined in EmpRoles so for EmpID 2 need to fetch Role from LatestRoles table and for
remaining ID's need to fetch from EmpRoles .
My Final Output of select query should be like below.
    EmpID Role
    1 Role1
    2 Role2
    3 Role1
    Please help.
    Mohan

    Mohan,
Can you check if this answers your requirement:
    Create Table #EmpIDs
    (EmplID int )
    Create Table #EmpRoles
    (EMPID int,Designation varchar(50))
    Create Table #LatestRoles
    EmpID int,
    Designation varchar(50)
    Insert into #EmpIDs values (1)
    Insert into #EmpIDs values (2)
    Insert into #EmpIDs values (3)
    Insert into #EmpRoles values (1,'Role1')
    Insert into #EmpRoles values (2,'Role2')
    Insert into #EmpRoles values (2,'Role1')
    Insert into #EmpRoles values (3,'Role1')
    Insert into #LatestRoles values (2,'Role2')
    --Method 1
    select e.EmplID,MIN(ISNULL(l.Designation,r.Designation)) as Designation
    from #empids e
    left join #emproles r on e.emplID=r.EmpID
    left join #latestRoles l on e.emplID=l.EmpID
    group by e.EmplID
    --Method 2
    ;with cte
    as
    select distinct e.EmplID,r.Designation,count(*) over(partition by e.emplID) cnt
    from #empids e
    left join #emproles r on e.emplID=r.EmpID
    select emplID,Designation
    from cte
    where cnt=1
    UNION ALL
    select a.EmplID,l.Designation
    from
(select distinct EmplID from cte where cnt>1) a
    join #Latestroles l on a.EmplID=l.EmpID

    vendordetails: vendorid, vendorname, contactnumber
    wingdetails: wingid,wingname,city
So i want a query that retrieves all the fields from linkdetails, vendorname from vendordetails wingname corresponding to wing_a_id, wingname corresponding to wing_b_id from wingdetails for a particular linkid..
    Thanks in advance

      select ld.*,
             vd.vendorname,
             wda.wingid   wingid_a,
             wda.wingname wingname_a,
             wdb.wingid   wingid_b,

  • Can I use Power Query to Import a table from Excel sheet range which starts not from the top row?

    Hi,
Being an experienced Excel user before Power BI, I am just starting to explore the M and Power Query capabilities, and need help already (ain't easy to google this use case somehow):
I need to import the table which sits in the Excel file with header row in the row 17 of Excel sheet, with some metadata header in the preceding rows of the columns A and B.
    01: Report name, Quick Report
    02: Report Date, 1/1/2014
    17: Employee Name, Manager, etc...
18: John Doe, Matt Beaver, etc.
Both (a) direct attempt to load as Excel file and (b) the indirect way through [From Folder] and formula in custom column -- both lead to the same error: "[DataFormat.Error] External table is not in the expected format."
Specifically, I tried to use the [Power Query -> From File -> From Folder] functionality, select an Excel file and add a custom column to access the binary content: [Add Custom Column] with formula "=Excel.Workbook([Content])".
It looks like Power Query expects a rectangular range with headers full-width followed by a contiguous table range to import anything, and refuses to load if that is not the case...
QUESTION: Is there any way to load whatever-formatted data from Excel first, and then manipulate the overall imported range (like referring to rows starting from 17th using "Table.SelectRows" etc.) to read the actual data? Reading and using
the metadata from header would be a bonus, but that comes second... The main issue is to get something from a non-regular Excel file to later work with using M formulae ...
    Thanks!
    SAM

Finally found the answer to this one in ():
You Cannot Open a Password-Protected Workbook
If the Excel workbook is protected by a password, you
cannot open it for data access, even by supplying the correct password with
your connection settings, unless the workbook file is already open in the
Microsoft Excel application. If you try, you receive the following error
      message:
    Could not decrypt file.
ANSWER: So, will have either weave in the work with temporary unprotected files or requires opening them before updating the data source (although this almost defeats the purpose of automation...)
ANSWER to ORIGINAL QUESTION: password was preventing Power Query from reading the Excel file. For solution see above.
Thanks anyway for participation and inspiration, Imke!

I recommend that you implement the admin EUL supplied by oracle, you can get there a lot of repository information (metalink note: 556932.1).
Try to use this (maybe you will need some pkg's):
    SELECT
    DECODE(KEYS.FK_MANDATORY,
    1,

'Might not exist in master folder') "Detail Item values",

  • Insert a query on the source table from ODI to Planning

Hi, I'm creating an ODI Interface. As source I have a table and as target a Planning dimension.
I'd like to extract record from my source table in a specified order (select * from MYTABLE order by ORD).
Where can I write this command?
    Thanks in advance,
    Roberta

    Hi,
Would it not just be easy to create a view on top of your table to extract in the way you want then use that view as the source in ODI.
    Cheers

  • Query to compare 2 different tables from 2 different database

Is it possible to write a SQL query to compare 2 Tables from 2 different Oracle Database. Also I need a query to do the same when the database is same.
    Thanks in advance

OK, well "compare" can mean one of two things: Compare structure or compare contents. Here is a quick script to compare column structures of two tables on one database:
    (select COLUMN_NAME,
    DATA_TYPE,
    DATA_LENGTH,
    DATA_PRECISION,
    DATA_SCALE,
    NULLABLE
    from dba_Tab_columns
    where owner=:OWNR1
    and table_name = :tablename
    minus
    select COLUMN_NAME,
    DATA_TYPE,
    DATA_LENGTH,
    DATA_PRECISION,
    DATA_SCALE,
    NULLABLE
    from dba_Tab_columns
    where owner=:ownr2
    and table_name = :tablename)
    union all
    (select COLUMN_NAME,
    DATA_TYPE,
    DATA_LENGTH,
    DATA_PRECISION,
    DATA_SCALE,
    NULLABLE
    from dba_Tab_columns
    where owner=:ownr2
    and table_name = :tablename
    minus
    select COLUMN_NAME,
    DATA_TYPE,
    DATA_LENGTH,
    DATA_PRECISION,
    DATA_SCALE,
    NULLABLE
    from dba_Tab_columns
    where owner=:ownr1
    and table_name = :tablename)
If this query returns any rows, then these indicate that there are structural differences between the tables. We do a minus in both directions to ensure that an additional column in either schema will be returned in the query.
If you are going across dblinks to remote tables then you have to amend the "dba_tab_columns" to "sys.dba_tab_columns@yourdblink"
If you also want to compare indexes, triggers, etc then do the same sort of thing for the associated dba_ views for those objects.
And if you want to compare table contents, then often the fastest way is also to check minuses in both directions, if the tables are not too big:
    e.g.
    (select * from schema1.table@dblink1
    minus
    select * from schema2.table@dblink2)
    union all
    (select * from schema2.table@dblink2
    minus
    select * from schema1.table@dblink1)
local tables, of course, simply omit the "@dblink" issues.
There are tools to help in such things. TOAD, for example, has a pretty good schema comparison tool, and there are plenty of other options out there. But if you need to script this yourself then the logic I've shown is a good starting point.
    Cheers,
    Mike

  • Link Pivot tables between workbooks

I have two BEx workbooks A and B.  Workbook A has the query data, pivot table and a pivot chart.  I need to create a new Workbook B and link only the pivot table from Workbook A to the Workbook B.
Can we link a pivot table between two workbooks?
    Raadooo

    Thanks a lot,  Chivukula !!!
This is what I got.  I have 5 huge separate queries  saved as workbooks.  Each of these workbook has the query data.  I created pivot table from this data and generated charts in the workbook for each of the seperate queries.
But now, I need to join or link only the charts into one workbook, to display a dashboard view.  This dashboard view should have all the charts.
Since I would like to get the charts as a dynamic pivot charts, I want to link the pivot table from the exisiting workbook to the new workbook.
Can this be acheived?  If not what is the other possible solution?
Thanks a lot for your help again!!!!

  • How to copy a set of tables from a database to another periodically?

We have a 4 node RAC primary database(10.2.0.2) with a physical standby(10.2.0.2) on our production site. Offlate we noticed that one of the applications(APP2) is causing heavy loads due large data downloads on the primary database servers. Our primary database has 2 schemas,
    1) one being the main schema with all objects, (USER1)
    2) and the other has views that query some set of tables from the main schema. (USER2)
The application APP2 uses USER2 views to query and download huge data periodically. We need to be able to give accurate data results to APP2, but in the same time take off the load from the database, as APP2 is not our main application.
We would like to know if there are any cost effective options in oracle to do this, and if so, what is the best option? Anyone has any experience setting up something like this before?
We have thought of creating another 10.2.0.2 database on a different server and giving it regular updates(like data feeds) from the current database. The current database data changes quiet often, so the data feeds would have to be done often to keep the data current on the new database. So, we are not exactly sure how to go about it. Would a COPY command help?
    Please advice.

    user623066 wrote:
Our 4 node RAC is already busy with our main application, which has its connections spread across all 4 nodes.
Our main applications services are the same on all nodes and use all 4 nodes in the same way.
There are some other utilities that we run from one of the app servers that connect to only 1 of the nodes.
APP2 uses all 4 servers, which is again controlled by connection pooling and distributes the load.Wouldn't separate services be more beneficial here? If APP2 is locked down to one node during normal operation, that ensures that other connections aren't going to be competing for hardware with APP2 on 3 of the 4 nodes. If APP2 is generating less than 25% of the total load, you can let the other applications use whatever hardware resources are left idle on the node APP2 is locked down to.
By Large data downloads, I meant both increase in network traffic and the CPU load on the database nodes.
We are already using resouce manager to limit the resources allocated to USER2 that APP2 uses.
And we have also limited the large downloads to take place in the early hours of the day when the traffic from our main application is less.
But this has still not been optimal for the usage requirements for APP2. APP2 is also doing queries all through the day, but has a limit for the number of rows downloaded during peak hours. Can you explain a bit more about why using Resource Manager hasn't been sufficient? That's normally a pretty good way to prevent one hungry user from drastically affecting everyone else. Perhaps you just need to tweak the configuration here.
Logical Standby seems a good option. But we need to keep our physical standby in place. Is it possible to have a logical standby and a physical standby? (ofcourse on separate servers)Sure. You can have as many standby servers of whatever type you'd like.
Could we use a COPY command to copy data for the set of tables to a new database? Or is that also a complex option? You could, yes. COPY is a SQL*Plus command that has been depricated for copying data between Oracle databases for quite a while. It only works from SQL*Plus and would only be designed for one-time operations (i.e. there is no incremental COPY command). I can just about guarantee that's not what you want here.
How do materialized views work? Wouldn't they still reside on the main database? Or is it possible to have remote materialized views? You probably don't want materialized views, but if you decide to go down that path
    - You'd create materialized view logs on the base tables to track changes
    - You'd create materialized views on the destination database that select data over a database link back to the source database
    - You'd put those materialized views into one or more refresh groups that are scheduled to refresh periodically
    - During a refresh, assuming incremental refreshes, the materialized view logs would be read and applied to the materialized views on the destination system to update the materialized views.
