Querying exchange server address book

Hello guys
How can I retrieve information in microsoft exchange server address book using jdbc?
Thanks for any help.

IMO, I'd use Address Book. I tried Entourage for a while, but prefer the separate mail, iCal, and Address Book apps.
And I've had few problems keeping my work and home macs, as well as my Nokia, sync'd in the two years I've been a subscriber.

  • Viewing exchange global address book

Tried everything I can think of but I can't find a way to make all the contacts in the exchange global address book show up in contacts.
All I've been able to do is search the address book. But I'm wanting all the contacts to show at the one time and then select from that list.
Tried turning on contacts in the account setup in settings but that only seems to setup extra searches in contacts.
All I'm trying to do is have my normal contacts list from those on the iPad and another list for the exchange global address book.
Surely something so basic must be possible.

  • Lion Server Address Book vs. iCloud

I'm happy with iCloud with only one, big exception: Address Book.
I have 5600+ entries (growing) and managing large groups with Adress Book/iCloud always gives me pain but I need to have my contacts library sinchronized between Mac-iPhone & iPad.
Therefore I am considering various solutions like Exchange, Google Contacts and using a mac mini with Lion Server for my contacts.
I'm very doubtful about it because buying such a new device only for managing my contacts sounds exxagerated for me but it's clear that the iCloud Address Book is not designed for large libraries.
My question: In this case, managing a large Address Book on Lion Server will REALLY give me a better service than iCloud?
    Thank for comments/suggestions!

maybe you found a good solution for your company with FM2LDAP. Take a look at
    www.dircard.net
You can manage your Contacts with Filemaker, and put it on your LDAP-Server. From here, you can acsess your contacts from anywhere. Also can you manage access-rights to your Contacts with Server ACLs.

  • BPS - Exchange 2007 - Address book hangs - Net.riv.vm.StackOverflowError

Hello.  I have recently installed BPS on our Exchange server.  One of our users has an 8830 world edition that now hangs when he tries to access the address book on the device.  The address book was fine when he would sync via desktop.  The hanging address book also prevents caller ID info from displaying when a call comes in...it only shows the phone #.  When the address book is opened the device freezes and the only way to get functional again is to pull the battery.  When the device restarts he receives this message:
    Uncaught exception:
    Net.riv.vm.StackOverflowError
Any information on this is greatly appreciated.

  • Exchange and address book

Installed Snow Leopard and my mail is working great. I can download my personal emails and now, my work emails from within the mail program.
When I make changes to my address book, ie, names, phone numbers, or even deleting cards, the changes show up in Exchange when I log on via mail.companyname.org (from Safari or any other browser).
So my company has a couple of routing lists on Exchange, like @allemployees and @inoffice. I've never been able to use these lists on my mac. Apparently all the other people in my office (pc folks, I am a graphic designer and use a mac) can use these lists via MS Outlook.
I was hoping that now that I can actually use Exchange through Mail, and have been able to sync Address Book too, that I would be able to use these routing lists as well.
Can anyone tell me how to go about this?

I don't know very much about this, but one thing I have figured out is that the Exchange Server needs to be an up-date 2007 version (my company has 2007, but doesn't want to run the service pack). If you want to check your version of exchange, you can use WebAccess, hit the "Options" button, then look at "About". This shows the Exchange Server Version -- which you can Google to see if it's new enough. Don't really know if this is helpful, but maybe if gives you something else to check while you wait for a more knowledgeable response. Also, Mactopia website could be helpful potentially.

  • Outlook 2013 Exchange 2013 Address Book Error 0x8004010F : The operation failed. An object cannot be found.

    Hi,
We have Exchange 2013 running in our network, and are using Outlook 2013 on all PCs. We added some users several weeks ago, and they are not showing up in the Address Book. When we try to download the Address Book in Outlook, we receive the error 0x8004010F
: The operation failed. An object cannot be found.
Please let me know how I can start to troubleshoot this.
    Regards,
    Chris

    Hi
There is a multiple reason to receive an error 0x8004010f, it is just a generic MAPI error.
Let’s check all settings are configured the way it is supposed to be: -
    1.    Make sure the authentication setting is set up properly by using this command: -
Get-OabVirtualDirectory -ADPropertiesOnly | ft Identity, *Auth* -AutoSize
    2.    Check URL’S are configured properly: -
Get-OabVirtualDirectory -ADPropertiesOnly | ft Identity, *url* -AutoSize
    3.    Check the location of OAB: -
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\ClientAccess\OAB
    4.    Now find out the location of the database on which the Arbitration mailbox resides: -
    Get-Mailbox -Arbitration | where {$_.PersistedCapabilities -like “*OAB*”} | ft Name, Servername, Database
    Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus MGUxxx
    5.    It is also important to ensure all database has the OAB set up properly for this use CMDLET: -
    Get-MailboxDatabase | Ft Name, *book*
    6.    If one or more database does not have OAB setup, then use CMDLET to set OAB for it: -
Get-Mailboxdatabase | Set-MailboxDatabase -OfflineAddressBook “Default Offline Address Book”
    7.    If the issue is affecting only one or specific set of users, then check they have an OAB specified on their account: -
    Get-Mailbox abc.xyz | fl Name, OfflineAddressBook,Database
Please correct me if the information that I am having is wrong.
    Reply awaited.
    Thanks and regards

  • Exchange 2010 address book issue.

We're using Exchange 2010 in our organization. My old database got corrupted so i created new mailbox and add existing users to it. Now the issue is, before users type other usernames in outlooks address bar and mail gets delivered to the recipients, now
they have to select users from "To" list in outlook and have to add them to the address bar, if they type the recipient name rather selecting from the list then the mail don't get delivered. What is the issue? Any idea why this happening?

    Hi
As per the information and details provided by you, to solve the problem of address book  in Exchange 2010, please follow these steps: -
Enable web-based distribution for the OAB to your client access servers
    – If you are upgrading from Exchange 2003 to 2010, this step is a must.
Change the mailbox server that’s responsible for generating your OAB to an Exchange 2010 mailbox server –
This is important whether you are migrating to Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2007.
I hope this information will be helpful for you.
    Thanks and regards

  • Mail is changing my Exchange server address

So I work offsite from my office and the office has it's own Exchange 2007 server.  When I add my email to Mail.app, it autodiscovers my settings and properly sets up my account.
The issue happens when I exit the app and re-open the app, I start getting errors and find that Mail.app has changed my internal server address to something different, and I have to change it back again to the right one, ie:
    Correct address:
    mobile.xxxxxxxxxx.com
Wrong one that Mail.app changes the address to:
    exchange.xxxxxxxxxx.com
Anyone know how to keep it from doing that?

    Figured it out.
I let Mail.app change the internal server to the exchange.xxxxxxxx.com address, and added the mobile.xxxxxxx.com address to the external server field, and everything works without errors now.

  • 10.7.2 Server - Address book sevice limits ?

Ok, wondering if anyone has run into this?  According to Enterprise support there are no limits to the number of contacts or groups for the address book service.  I seem to have found otherwise.  A customer running Lion on his iMac.  Had some 42,000 contacts and maybe 1000 groups running on his local address book with no problems.  He got a MacMini server which I have setup.
Having never heard of any limits I told him to just start moving the groups from the local address book to the server account I had setup on his iMac.  It choked at around 400 groups with 9600 contacts total (according to address book).  Called support went through everything, cannot find a reason why it stopped propagating new contacts/groups.  So I go and setup 5 different groups to shrink the size of each address book.  So that is working fine and they are moving things over.  But he called today with the same problem.  Turns out the last address account group of contacts/groups had many more that what he had indicated.  So it choked again, showing around 10,100 cards.  Same symptom, adding a contact and/or group does not propogate out from the server.  Needless to say he is not very happy.  Back when we started I told him this was uncharted waters for me since the largest I had setup at this point has been around 2000 or so.  The support rep I had talked to also had never run into anything so large on Server.

Thank you for responding Bruce.  Ok, here is the scenario in list format.
A - Prior to Lion Server setup
    1.  EU has a iMac running Lion.  Address book is a "On my Mac" copy.  Contains about 42k contacts and 1k groups.  Another tech came out but, unfortunately, was not capable of setting up Lion Server.
    B - Server setup - round 1
    1.  When I got out there I was unable to log into the Server app or the Server Admin tool, but, oddly enough could get into WGM.  At any rate, since nothing had been properly setup on the server, I just did a nuke and pave.  No problems with that.
    2.  Ran all of the updates, installed Server Admin and WGM.
3,  Setup VPN, local file sharing, and address book services.  Created an account on the server for the contacts, verified can log in ok and can add that carddav account locally on the server.
    4.  Setup the same account on a MBP.  Had no problem connecting to the server.  Had the EU's assistant start moving groups, one at a time, from the "On my Mac" address book to the server account address book on the MBP.  Making sure it propogated completely before starting on the next one.  She started with the Z's and worked her way up the alphabet.  Each group may have anywhere from 2 to over 100 individuals.  The individual contacts have very little information in them, basically name, a date, email address, organization name.
    5.  I had them setup a second MBP with the same account to verify that the server is propogating the additions to the server account.  She would move a group on the primary MBP and then check the secondary to see that it showed up.
    6. The first time it failed she noticed that the accounts moved from the "On my Mac" to the server account on the primary MBP.  Then the group would not be propogated to the other MBP.  Setting up the server account will also stop at the same place.
    7. You can move the groups back out and try adding just a single user and/or a single group.  Same symptom, will not propogate out from the server.  To me this means that it is hung up in the que on the primary MBP so it is not actually hitting the server.  There were no errors on the MBP or the server logs.  About 9600 users and 400 groups.
    C - Server setup round 2
    1.  Since we were unable to migrate all of the contacts and group to one address book I decided the best course of action was to break it up into 5 different address books - Z-W, V-S, R-N, etc.  The thinking is that this will make each address book smaller and cause fewer problems.  So I created the accounts and had them repeat the process as in 4 and 5 above.
    2.  The second MBP is showing the information  being propogated.  I had also setup up one account at a time on my Mac at home to monitor.  Everything is working fine until we get to the last group, FF-AA.
    3.  It turns out that his A group alone has some 4-5 k contacts alone.  So we end up with the same symptoms as in 6 and 7 above.  Except this time it hit around 10.1k before it stopped propogating.
    4.  Same symptom.  They can remove the non-propogating groups out of the MBP.  Attempts to add a user and/or group post to the machine locally but do not hit the server and therefore no one else gets it.
    D - Server setup round 3
    1.  Created one additional group of BB-AA, truncated the other to FF-CC, and was able to complete the transfer of all groups and contatcs to thier respective new group.

  • File Server, Mail Server & Address Book

Here's the structure in my company:
One OSX Server is running AFP & Windows services. This server has about 25 users. Another OSX Server is running Mail services and has about 31 users.
I am going to setup a shared Address Book to store and share our clients contact info, so I want to put them into one of the two OSX servers using LDAP. I am not sure if I should use the AFP server as the Directory Master.
The ultimate goal is to have one single Directory master for two OSX machines, 25 user account and a LDAP for about 300 clients info.
What's the best way to configure this? Thanks.

Welcome in the shared AB via Ldap world!
I made it, no-hassle, setting up the OD Master on our 'inner' OSX4.8 server, providing AFP & Windows services. The shared LDAP Address Book is activated on it, via the very nice piece of software 'ABXLdap' from j2anywhere.
The other 'outer' server is providing FTP and Mail services, and is bound via Directory Access to the 'inner' server to auth users from inside (192.168.X.X) and from outside (Internet). It's role is 'OD replica'.

  • Sync Sun Messaging Server Address Book with Mac OS X Address Book

    Hello,
I am wondering whether there is a way to synchronise my address books inside Sun Message Server and on my Mac?
Does anybody know how do to this? I tried an VCF export of all my contacts from my Mac address book and imported it with the Web mailer interface Sun Java System Communications Express.
The import was done without any errors but all emails and phone data is gone so finally I got several empty contacts.
Is this a known problem? Is there a workaround or a fix available?
Does anybody know a better way for synchronization in both directions and without duplicating all records on a second import?
Thanks in advance and best regards

You can try the demo site here:

Are you able to provide an example of a single exported contact that doesn't work (import into CE)?

does anybody know how to read an exchange server address book with javamail ?

I never think JavaMail could read the address book from exchange server.
I think you should make sure if the exchange has a pai supporting this function

  • Lost Exchange Address Book

After the upgrade to SL, I had many duplicate contacts and groups. Looking in the ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book folder, I found two 'AddressBook-v22' files. I moved the older file to the desktop, and the issue of duplicates was resolved. However, I lost all my connections to the Exchange 2007 address book. What is the best way to resolve this?
Update -- I did the obvious and recreated the Exchange account in the address book preferences and I am re-connected to our server. But again ... I have a host of duplicate address book entries that show up when I click on 'All Contacts.' They do NOT appear when I select 'On My Mac.)
Interestingly, I have two AddressBook-v22' files again: One at ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book and another one layer deeper at ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book/Address Book. Interesting to see the nested 'Address Book' directory.

    Thanks ...
I ended up doing something I didn't really want to do, that is deleting all my contacts on our Exchange server and retaining my address book records.
My Exchange contacts came from Entourage, prior to SL, and were mostly simple duplicates. After the upgrade to SL, I had nearly 6,000 entries in my Address Book and response time was beginning to lag.
Not the best or most elegant choice, but I've never found AB to handle large collections well.

  • Lion Server: How do I import into the central address book?

    Hello
I could successfully import addresses into the local address book of my Mac Mini (using the import function of the address book application).
However, I want the addresses to be in the central, shared address book of the Lion Server. I can't find a way to import there.
    Does anyone have an idea?
    Thanks! Martin

Never mind, I figured it out: Open the local addresses, select all, drag/drop to the desktop. Then open the server address book and drag/drop from the desktop.
