Querying on the client

I need to do some querying client side. As a simplified example, this works great:
var filter = "(substringof('Futterkiste', CustomerName) eq true)";
msls.application.activeDataWorkspace.ApplicationData.Customers
.filter(filter)
.top(1)
.execute()
.then(function (results) {
if (results.results.length >= 0) {
screen.prpCustomer = results.results[0];
function (error) {
alert(error);
However, if I already have the customer data loaded (or at least available as a local screen query), how can I filter and use that collection?  This produces Error: Object doesn't support property or method 'filter'.
var filter = "(substringof('Futterkiste', CustomerName) eq true)";
screen.getCustomers()
.filter(filter) // filter not supported
.top(1)
.execute() // is this necessary with getCustomers?
.then(function (results) {
if (results.results.length >= 0) {
screen.prpCustomer = results.results[0];
function (error) {
alert(error);
I also tried screen.Customers instead of screen.getCustomers and got the same error result.  How do you filter screen collections?  Or, should I just use the datasource and be happy something works?

Hi Hessc,
You can override the screen collection query with a hack like this:
In the screen design: Edit Query and add optional parameter called filterString - no filter needed.  Then do this in screen_created.   Upon setting screen.filterString, your collection will filter.
myapp.BrowseCustomers.created = function (screen) {
// Write code here.
screen.details.properties["Customers"]._entry.simpleDescriptor.createQuery =
function (filterString) {
return this.dataWorkspace.ApplicationData["Customers"]
.filter(filterString);
}; screen.filterString = "substringof('Futterkiste', CustomerName)";
The code above has limitations like, if your screen is based on a query having filters, it will override those and base on the table.  A more flexible way is to use a Monkey Patch to append the this filter on top of the screen query like so:

  • Using the client result cache without the query result cache

    I have constructed a client in C# using ODP.NET to connect to an Oracle database and want to perform client result caching for some of my queries.
    This is done using a result_cache hint in the query.
    select /*+ result_cache */ * from table
    As far as I can tell query result caching on the server is done using the same hint, so I was wondering if there was any way to differentiate between the two? I want the query results to be cached on the client, but not on the server.
    The only way I have found to do this is to disable all caching on the server, but I don't want to do this as I want to use the server cache for PL/SQL function results.
    Thanks.

    You haven't provided ANY information about how you configured the result cache. Different parameters are used for configuring the client versus the server result cache so you need to post what, if anything, you configured.
    Post the code you executed when you set the 'client_result_cache_lag' and 'client_result_cache_size' parameters so we can see what values you used. Also post the results of querying those parameters after you set them that show that they really are set.
    You also need to post your app code that shows that you are using the OCI statements are used when you want to use client side result cacheing.
    See the OCI dev guide
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28395/oci10new.htm#sthref1491
    Statement Caching in OCI
    Statement caching refers to the feature that provides and manages a cache of statements for each session. In the server, it means that cursors are ready to be used without the need to parse the statement again. Statement caching can be used with connection pooling and with session pooling, and will improve performance and scalability. It can be used without session pooling as well. The OCI calls that implement statement caching are:
      OCIStmtPrepare2()
      OCIStmtRelease()

  • Publishing server doesn't work - error 'The request URL doesn't contain the query string for the client OS'

    Hi,
    I'm trying to setup an App-V environment in my lab.
    I've used the App-V 5.0 Trial guide to help me configure all necessary components.
    I'm able to install everything without error.
    when come time to publish an app, it simply doesn't show up on my client.
    after looking at events on the client and server, I found that the Publishing server is returning under Admin the following message.
    'The request URL doesn't contain the query string for the client OS'
    My setup is pretty simple.
    App-V Server managament and Publishing on the same box
    App-V database on my SQL server.
    I'm able to see the publishing "webpage" by using http:://localhost:889.
    It only display this :
    -<Publishing Protocol="1.0"
    <Packages />
    </Publishing>
    I've published one app from the management console.
    any idea what could mean this error?
    thanks

    Hi,
    thanks for the link.
    I've validated the suggested debug steps. It seems that the problem is with my Publish server again.
    I've looked in the web.config file. It seems to be missing some parts compare to the example provided.
    Again, I've published an application from the management console. Management and Publishing are running on the same box, while SQL is remote.

  • Returning the result of a database query to a client

    glassfish
    JAX-WS 2.0
    NetBeans 5.5
    Is it possible to send a CachedRowSet object to a client?
    I get an error when i try to do so. (I can't deploy the web service method that returns the CachedRowSet)
    Is there a better way to return the result of database query to a client?
    I'd appreciate any suggestions or sample code.

    Hi!
    The result of this query will be the max ID of users' IDs.
    Let say we have:
    String sql="select max(users.id) from users";
    Statement st = ctx.conn.createStatement();
    ResultSet rs = st.executeQuery(sql);
    rs.next();
    So you can get the max Id in the following way:
    int maxId=rs.getInt("id");

  • SCCM 2012 R2 site server client installation error: The client version 5.00.7958.1000 does not match the MP version 5.00.7804.1000.

    Hello,
    When I try to install the client on the site server itself it gives me this error message and fails the ccmsetup. I only have this on the site server. Clients to other servers and computers are pushed fine. If I check the version of the MP it says 5.00.7958.1000
    in ADSI. I removed the MP object in CN=System, CN=System Management. Waited for it to be regenerated automatically by SCCM but the installation doesn't work still.
    I tried to install with several methods including directly from ccmsetup.exe in ccmsetup folder, pushing by sccm itself, running from commandline, ...
    I run SCCM 2012 R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 and the database on SQL 2008 on Server 2008 R2

    I agree with Idan. You can easily remove the Management Point Site System role and add it again with no adverse effect. This should solve your problem.

  • Accessing print services in the client machine(browser)

    Query: We had migrated a forms-3 form to forms-6i. The forms-3 form used a userexit to call a related Pro*C functionality that helped finally to print the report file generated during the process into the client machine's printer.
    How do we take care of this functionality in forms-6i? That is, the user should be able to do the printing from the forms screen in the browser..
    Please help..

    Thank you for replying..
    We have earlier tried the web.show_document procedure to call the .html or .txt file....But in forms-3(back-end on a UNIX server with the Pro*Cs), an ascii file was created at the server side in the client's home directory, and this file was accessed and used from the front-end machine(a UNIX terminal or a QVTTerm like application on Windows), to be printed out onto the printer device configured on the client machine...As in your reply, through web.show_document also the printing can be finally done..But the user has to wait for the new browser window to get opened and show the content and then print it...These steps were not needed in forms-3, that is, on a click of the print-related-button, it did the job...So, in the same way, can something be done on the forms-6i form(use a printer-javabean or something else), to get the functionality???
    Please help..

  • Dynamic Page that uses javascript to run an executable on the client's pc

    I have an .exe file on a shared network that has to be called and executed from portal. The below code works as standalone but not from a dynamic page or an HTML portlet. Any ideas?
    <html>
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
    function runApp()
    var shell = new ActiveXObject("WScript.shell");
    shell.run('"c:/CstatsWeeklyreport.exe"',1,true);
    </script>
    <body>
    <input type="button" name="button1" value="Run Notepad" onClick="runApp()" >
    </INPUT>
    </body>
    </html>

    Thanks D, but that's not what I'm looking for. That changes which application a file opens with when you download it. That's not what I need for this situation. Here's a little more detail.
    The clients will have an application on their hard drive; it can be any application, even a custom application that they developed themselves. Then, they open a web page with a listbox full of items. Depending on which item they select, a query will return a file path to the .exe file itself. The .exe file resides on the client's hard drive, not on the server. So they're not downloading anything. Depending on the filepath returned by the query, the browser needs to start the process and open the .exe file for them.
    So let's say I have developed a simple text editor called Tedit. I have a file on my hard drive - "C:\TextEditor\bin\debug\TEdit.exe". When they click the open button, that file path is returned from the database. Then the javascript is called to start the process and open that program.
    Again, nothing is getting downloaded, the application resides on the user's hard drive and there is no file to associate it with.
    This can be done in IE using an ActiveX control. And it used to be possible in Firefox using the nsIFile or nsIProcess objects. But since FF15 that's not available anymore, so the javascript throws an error telling them that their permission is denied.
    What I need, is a javascript that will launch the .exe file from the user's hard drive without downloading anything.

  • Universe Designer vs BEx query - Can't see the query in the OLAP Cubes list

    Hello Experts,
    We are facing a rather strange issue:
    While creating a connection to an existing BEx query - which wasn't being used by BO before - we aren't able to see that one query in a long list of available multiproviders/queries on the universe side.
    We already checked the option on BEx analyser to authorize external access to the query, with ODBO.
    The connection type we're using is the same for all the other universes built on top of BEx queries: SAP BW Client. Again, we already have a bunch of universes built using this method, but we can't seem to find the BEx query in the OLAP Cubes list.
    Does anyone have a lead on what may be causing this issue?
    Our environment is:
    - SAP BOE XI R3.1 SP2
    - SAP BW 3.5
    - BEx Analyser
    - Integration Kit
    Best Regards,
    Francisco

    Hi,
    i don't know, you'd have to search the BW-BEX component for notes.
    I noticed it with a revision of SAP GUI Front End tools 720 SP7 i think
    I applied the latest corrections (SP08 or 09) and that tickbox worked ok again.
    You might notice - as i did - that when you go back to check the bex query - that property becomes 'magically' unselected/

  • JDBC query in the course of a separate EJB transaction

    Hi all,
    I am implementing a web application that let user upload file and send it to the backend for processing,which involves EJB level transaction(many read+write operations),say transaction L .The processing time may last for 10 minutes. Meanwhile the user can view the history of the files he uploaded and CURRENT STATUS of the file he submitted for processing,we call it file upload history summary (they are from direct JDBC query to the upload history table,say table U in the database,since they are read only data).
    My problem is: the user can not see his LATEST file upload status UNTIL the backend processing transaction is completed,although the row for latest file he just submits in Table U was created during the course of the transaction L by an EntityBean UEJB.
    I am using Jboss server,do u guys have any idea so that I can see the new file status once it's created by the UEJB even before the transaction L is completed?Thanks

    You can achieve this by using JMS and MDB. Because once your file is uploaded, the server is busy in loading the data to the database. So it is not sending you back the response as you are doing a synchronous communication. You have to use Asynchronuous communication to achieve this. This way the client will not wait for the response and the transaction to finish.
    While uploading you a send the file as a message object using JMS and MDB. Let the MDB call the other EJB to load the data to the database. Then you can refresh the status browser automatically in certain periods to retrieve data using other EJB like simple access. The browser will automatically submit itself and get the data from EJB while the other EJB uploading the data to the database.
    Hope this helps. If you are still not clear write again. I will explain it again.
    Thanks

  • Transport abap query from one client to another--v--urgent---v----urgent

    hi,
    i have an abap query in one client and want to copy to another client.can i do this if so what are the steps involved .i tried the options like in query go to environment and then to transport .i also tried to do by running the programe RSAQR3TR.but it was transporting in the same client .i want to transfer into another client.plz help me out asap .

    hi,
    Create a request related to that Table Definition and add data content in the request like
    R3TR-TABL-<table name>
    R3TR-TABU-<table name>
    R3TR-TABD-<table name>
    and release the request
    Take the DATA files and CO files related to that request in a Pen drive and put the same into the new server DATA and CO files and import using STMS.
    For new program, it gets transported along with the program.
    For changed program (which has already been transported once), you need to include texts in transport request - just go to Selection texts, save them in the transport request and you're all set.
    whenever you assign a request number to the program
    and also the selection texts willbe stored under that request number
    so when u release the program
    the selection texts will also go
    after releasing the request if you change only the seleciton texts
    only the changes done to selection texts will reach the target
    and the rest of the things remain same
    so when ever you release a request all the things under that request
    will go

  • Issue in attaching dynamic Query to the View Object

    Hi,
    We are having a View Object attached to the JRAD page.
    The View object is build thru as Expert mode. There is no any CDATA
    SQLQUERY stored in the VO.xml file.
    We are building the query dynamically and attaching it to the VO in
    RUNTIME.
    The code is as below
    // getFcstQuery() is method used to return the dynamic query
    String query = getFcstQuery();
    // Setting the Query to View Object
    getViewDef().setQuery(query);
    setQuery(query);
    The JRAD page has sorting option on 5 columns. so when a sorting is
    done the data are interchanged between the clients.
    For example how the query will be build id
    Say for the first user the query will be as
    "select ename,eno,dno from emp where eno=1 "
    for the second user the query may be
    "select ename,eno,dno from emp where eno=2 "
    Now if both the user hit the sorting on any of the column the data is
    interchagned between this both users.
    Please provide solution if possible.
    Thanks in advance
    Balamohan

    Hi Steve,
    We are using 5 tables in building the query.
    Say,
    1) summary
    2) transactions
    3) transactions_history
    4) rules
    5) rules_temp
    but only 2 tables are used at a time
    for read only we are using
    summary table
    for edit only mode we are using
    1) transactions and
    2) rules
    tables
    for edit and recalculate mode we are using
    1) transactions and
    2) rules_temp
    tables
    for one more condition we are using
    1) transactions_history and
    2) rules
    tables
    From all the above combination we are getting 5 columns. All the columns are defined the above combination tables. So using the same region. based on the conditions the combination of tables will change.
    Becoz of this we are building the query dynamically.
    Thanks

  • Source, and Fix, for Event 8194 VSS "access denied" querying for the IVssWriterCallback

    Friends I encountered this error, pasted intact below, just a couple of days ago on a ia64 architecture HP system running Windows 7 Ultimate x64
    It appears that I may have a permissions issue somewhere but I do not know how to permanently root-cause-remedy it.  I should note that I do not have any routine backup service running on this particular mule, and no such animal was working at the time
    of the issue, so I'm baffled as to what invoked the process.  To anticipate a question you may have:  I did not use on this system a recent "registry cleanup" tool except that which Microsoft uses in a couple of automated packages:  one to do
    .NET cleanup, and another to resolve Uninstall/Install issues [this one succeeded... the .NET issue is another story].
    This system is a Homegroup owner/creator, but is not on a domain. It is essentially a lab mule that I use for tech work - other windows 7 clients fetch files from it via a bridged wifi AP.
    Thank you in advance for any direction you have for me.

  • Writing a log file in the client machine

    Hello,
    I need to write a kind of log file about the successful or failure of execution of
    some queries in a PL/SQL batch. The UTL_FILE.fopen command let me write to a file but in the side of the server. And it's necessary to update the init.ora with the path.
    That's not useful for me. I want a procedure generates a report for the clients.
    Is this posible?
    Thank you very much,
    Icaro Alzuru

    I want a procedure generates a report for the clients.Well, one way to do it is to write a file to the DB server and then use some OS mechanism to make it available to the client (ftp, e-mail). With moderate degrees of pffafing around this can all be done from inside the database.
    Alternatively, write to a log table instead and make that available to the client. Depending on who they are they might prefer querying a table to grep'ing through a file.

  • WMI filter query of the last GPO in an OU fails

    Hi,
    I've noticed an interesting issue:
    Server 2012 R2, Windows 7. GPO's. WMI Filters.
    I've linked some GPOs to a specific OU (which exclusively contains users). For example, there are three objects which configure Word, Excel and PowerPoint 2010. I've created a WMI Filter to query wether Office 2010 is installed and mapped it to these
    GPO's (I'm using the same filter for all these Office 2010 GPOs)
    The problem: On my test client (Windows 7 Pro x64), all these Office GPOs are getting applied (which means that the Office 2010 WMI query returns 'true') except the last one (regarding the
    link order). This last object is not applying because the WMI query returns 'false'.
    Here's an example. My test user is located in an OU called 'TestOU' on which the mentioned Office 2010 GPOs are linked to. The link order of the GPOs is as follows: 1. Word 2010, 2. Excel 2010, 3. PowerPoint 2010.
    In this case, the GPO called 'PowerPoint 2010' is not getting applied; the WMI filter returns 'false'. all other GPOs (using the same WMI filter) are getting applied. If i move the GPO named 'Excel 2010' to the end of the link order (1. Word 2010, 2. PowerPoint
    2010, 3. Excel 2010), it's the Excel GPO which is not getting applied.
    Any ideas?
    Best regards,
    eightcore
    EDIT: After logging off and logging in again (client-side), the "last" GPO is getting applied. But that's not a solution in my point of view. My goal is to get all things done right after the first logon.

    Hi eightcore,
    Based on my knowledge, when a GPO that is linked to a WMI filter is applied on the target computer, the filter is evaluated on the target computer. If the WMI filter evaluates to false, the GPO is not applied (except if the client computer is running Windows 2000,
    in which case the filter is ignored and the GPO is always applied).And in the same OU, the link order can tell us the applying order, and GPOs apply from the highest number to the lowest number.
    According to your description, the GPO which has the highest link order number will not apply. To do further trooubleshooting, please test the following situation:
    If delete the WMI filtering of the GPO which has the highest link order number, could the GPO apply sucessfully?
    If there are only two GPOs, could the two GPOs applu sucessfully?
    It would be helpful for future troubleshooting if you can provide the detailed information of the three GPOs.

    Lany Zhang
