Question About Advanced Replication

I red advanced replication concept on your blogs and i done sucessfully in my test database.
you choosed to configured only one user and taken two tables.its ok. i want replicate all the users include all the tables to replication database just once time..i don't want to take one table and do it and then take another table and do it not like this.. i want configure all the tables to replication database, is there any procedure? may i want to know about this?
Thanks & Regards

  • Newbie questions about Database replication, "backups", and sql version

    Just created my first Sql Database using the "SQL Database Management Portal". A blast but three questions come to mind:
    1. Is this DB automatically
    "replicated"? (In other words,  is DB "failover" or clustering,  a feature of all newly created Azure databases?)
    2. Our on-premise model is to make a daily DB backup which is saved to a nightly tape. If needed, we can restore a two-month old database backup under a new name to compare it with the current one. Does Sql Azure support this capability
    or not? Can it be requested?
    3.  Which on-premise version of sql is "Sql Azure" closest to? (2014?)
    TIA,
    edm2
    P.S. My database was created using the "web" edition.

    Hi edm,
    According to your description, you create a SQL Azure database in Azure platform. The replication feature is not supported by Microsoft Azure SQL database. If you want to sync the SQL Azure database and local database, you can use SQL Azure Data Sync service.
    For more information, see:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/the_cloud_pilot/archive/2011/10/24/your-first-sql-azure-data-sync-step-by-step.aspx
    In addition, if you have Web or Business Edition databases, you must create your own backup strategy. You can use database copy or Import and Export services to create copies of the data and export the file to an Microsoft Azure storage account. Meanwile,
    Windows Azure SQL Database provides a mechanism for automating the process for exporting a database to BACPAC files on a set interval and frequency. For more information, see:
    Schedule an Automated Export:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh335292.aspx#automate
    Windows Azure SQL Database Backup and Restore strategy:
    http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/3057/windows-azure-sql-database-backup-and-restore-strategy/
    Currently, Azure uses a special version of Microsoft SQL Server as its backend. It provides high availability by storing multiple copies of databases, elastic scale and rapid provisioning, when we check the version of SQL Server, it shows as follows.
    Microsoft SQL Azure (RTM) - 11.0.9216.62

  • Question about advance compression in Oracle 11gR2

    Hi,
    I am on Oracle 11gR2 on Solaris 10. I want to run the oracle advance compression advisor for my database and get compression ratios for the tables, how can I do it? I am looking for a sample command to run this advisor package (dbms_compression) from sqlplus.
    Can someone please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Nirav

    Thanks SriniChavali and Stefan. I can't make more answer "Helpful' so I couldn't do that for your answers! Here is my point. In Jonathan's blog i see this remarks:
    "Sadly it seems that “compress for OLTP” (formerly “compress for all operations”) doesn’t compress for all operations, it compresses only for inserts, and the benefits it has over basic compression are that (a) it leaves 10% of the block free for updates, and (b) it doesn’t require direct path inserts to trigger compression. Given the limitations on how it works you may find that the problems it brings might make it something you want to avoid.... this is at this link: http://allthingsoracle.com/compression-in-oracle-part-3-oltp-compression/
    To date I’ve only heard complaints about OLTP compression (there’s an element of self-selection there as no-one ever calls me to look at their system because it’s running so well and has no problems). A common thread in the complaints I have heard, though, is about the significant amount of row migration (once it has been noticed), the extra CPU, and ”buffer busy waits”.
    Compression for OLTP is (according to the manuals) supposed to be able to compress during updates – but it doesn’t (at least, as far as I can tell); this means that you can easily end up suffering a large number of row migrations on updates, which can result in extra random I/Os, buffer busy waits, and increased CPU and latch activity.
    If you can work out a good strategy for using OLTP compression, though, think carefully about making a choice between freelist management and ASSM – there seem to be some undesirable side effects that appear when you mix OLTP compression with ASSM."
    Note that I am not that technical and I hope I have not mis-quoted. I am trying to figure out if this is a good option or not and seeing some findings that it may not be so good and seeing at some other places notes that it is indeed very good.
    Best regards

  • Quick question about advanced pulldown

    Hi,
    So, I am trying to make a MiniDV backup of a 23.98 sequence using FCP 4.5 and a Sony DCR-VX2000 camera. The footage in the sequence is non-time coded 23.98 footage from a DVD. To test if my backups are actually backups that I could later edit in 23.98, I have printed to tape, recaptured and removed the pulldown with either Cinema Tools or using Remove Advanced Pulldown, and placed the recaptured footage in a new 23.98 sequence. However, neither method has worked-- the wrong frames are removed or the captured footage just looked screwed up.
    I tried two methods: printed to MiniDV with a 2:3:2:3 pulldown in the Playback settings, recaptured into FCP using normal DV capture, then used Cinema Tools'"batch reverse telecine" to remove the pulldown, then placed the footage in a new 23.98 sequence When that didn't work, I tried a 2:3:3:2 pulldown print to tape and captured using Advanced Pulldown Removal. That looked even worse.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
    Powerbook G4 Mac OS X (10.3.8)

    Well, this is what I did:
    I created 4 tests clips, each printed to tape with a different playback setting (2323, 2332, 2224, full quality).
    I then recaptured them all using both "Advanced Pulldown Removal" and no pulldown removal with Cinema Tools Batch Reverse Telecine used to remove pulldown on the clips.
    Results: The proper frames seemed to be removed when 1) I printed to tape with a 2:2:2:4 pulldown and Reverse Telecined through Cinema Tools and 2) when I printed to tape with Full Quality and used Advanced Pulldown Removal. Nothing else worked.
    HOWEVER, with both "succesful" methods, I found that when I played the clips in a 23.98 sequence, they had noise in he picture -- thin black horizontal lines on areas of quick movement. However, when clicked through frame by frame, this noise does not appear.
    So, Apple users of ther world, who can explain a) why full quality works with Cinema Tools and b) what to do about the noise in the playback picture (but again not seen frame by frame), and whether it is part of the actual clip or not?

  • Question about package replication retry

    Hello. My environment is SCCM 2012 SP1. I will be setting up several remote distribution points that are rebooted daily. Once the distribution points are up, I will need to distribute several large packages to them. Because of the bandwidth available,
    the packages cannot complete before a reboot is finished. My understanding is that SCCM will retry to distribute a package 100 times before stopping. Also, my understanding is that SCCM will also start over where it stopped during the previous retry and not
    start completely start the distribution from the beginning. Is this correct?

    Retry value by default is 100, you can change that if you wish.
    For content distribution to DP, TechNet does not mention anything about resume option between site server and DPs:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg712694.aspx#BKMK_MonitorContent
    Clients can do that though by using BITS enabled DP.
    I found this for SCCM 2007:
    BITS is never used to transfer content from the site server to the distribution point. The site server always uses SMB to copy packages to distribution points and does not use any throttling or fault tolerance.

  • Quick question about data replication

    Hi all,
    We have 9i database running on Sun solaris. Can we make a copy of this database on another server (backup and restore) and then apply archive logs from the databaser to its copy to keep the copy current.
    I know Oracle has solution like Standby database for this but we need this a temporary solution for few months until we go to 10g/11g.
    Please let me know if I am not clear or any other info. is required to answer this.
    Thanks & Regards,

    That is what a Scripted Standby is -- not using DataGuard.
    You setup scripts to push/move/copy archivelogs from the Primary server to the Standby server (or you use log_archive_dest_2 to have the archivelogs written to the standby via RFS, with a listener and the database instance in MOUNT mode on the standby).
    On the standby, you have a script that periodically "wakes up" (or is awakened by a process on the Primary which has pushed new archivelogs) and then issues a RECOVER but does NOT do an OPEN. It then shuts down after having applied the last archivelog received.
    I don't have a script ready but did do this even in Oracle7. (with additional logic to check CHANGE# or SEQUENCE# and also do Checksum comparisons of the ArchiveLogs).
    A google search will return a number of suggestions.

    Question about garageband: I have 3 short original songs that i wanted to merge ala "Bohemian Rhapsody". Is that possible in garageband? their tempos are all different from each other. Advance thanks.

    First of all, GarageBand iOS allows for only one tempo and there is no Merge Song feature.
    What you can do.
    Switch between the songs and copy-paste the individual Tracks. You can also Merge Tracks if you run into the 8 Track limitation.
    Hope that helps

    If you have a rescue email address set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
    If you don't have a rescue email address set up then go to Express Lane  and select 'iTunes' from the list of 'products' in the middle of the screen.
    Then select 'iTunes Store', and on the next screen select 'Account Management'
    Next choose 'iTunes Store Account Questions' or 'iTunes Store account security' (it appears to vary by country) and fill in that you'd like your security questions/answers reset.
    You should get an email reply within about 24 hours (and check your Spam folder as well as your Inbox)

  • Monitor Advanced replication

    Hi,
    we have advanced replication set up between two Master sites, this setup also serves purpose of DR solution as replication sites are in different cities. My question is that in case of disaster, how can we determine that when was the last 'push' we got from the other site...
    To elaborate it more...For eg we have Advanced replication between Melbourne and Sydney and 'sydney' goes down..how can we tell (sql query) that when was the last time we got successful 'push' from sydney to Melbourne...
    and reasoning for this question is to answer Exec's question that what is the data loss scenario in Sydney..
    Thanks
    Manu

    You can see when the push occurs at source (e.g. Sydney) by running this:
    SELECT last_date
    FROM dba_jobs
    WHERE what LIKE '%dbms_defer_sys.push%';However, if you loose Sydeny this isn't much use ... have you thought about setting up a simple "heartbeat" table which is part of the same replication configuration? We do this with our streams setup, the heartbeat table simply gets a row instered every minute via a scheduler job (or whatever frequency/mechanism you choose) with the current timestamp on the source system, we then replicate this to the target - you can then see on the target the "transaction lag" - i.e. what is the most recent timestamp in the table and thus when we last replicated data over, clearly this wont account for errors occuring for other tables but this will need monitoring seperately.
    Thanks
    Paul

  • DID YOU KNOW?? - ABOUT ADVANCED COMPONENTS IN THE PALETTE??

    <br>
    Hi All,
    DID YOU KNOW??
    The IDE ships with the following Advanced Components in the Palette.
    These advanced components are a set of JavaServer Page markup tags for advanced users. The components have no visual appearance and are useful to developers with experience in JSP and JavaServer Faces technologies.
    * Encoding
    * Faces Action Listener
    * Faces Converter
    * Faces Validator
    * Faces Value Change Listener
    * Faces Verbatim
    * Link
    * Load Bundle
    * Markup
    * Meta
    * Parameter
    * Script
    Lets look at MARKUP component in more detail.
    The MARKUP Component
    You can drag the Markup component Markup component icon from the Palette's Advanced category to the Visual Designer to create a standard HTML tag. The Markup component enables you to insert HTML elements into the JSP page in places that HTML is not permitted.
    When you drop this component on a page in the Visual Designer, you cannot see it on the page until you set the tag property. You can see it in the Outline window and you can select it there to edit its properties in the Properties window.
    Use the tag property to specify the type of HTML element to insert. For instance, to insert an <hr> tag, set the tag property to hr with no angle brackets and select the singleton property .
    To provide compliance with XHTML, if the HTML element you are inserting is a singleton element, you must specify the singleton property, which causes a trailing /> to be generated in the rendered HTML. For example, the <br> element is a singleton element that must be rendered as
    to make it XHTML compliant.
    If you want to specify HTML attributes in addition to id and style for the element you are inserting, use the extraAttributes property.

  • A lot of questions about my MacBook Air

    I am really new to re-using Apple computers.The last time I used an Apple computer was back in 1987 when the school and my family had Apple IIGS computers. I have been using PC's which reqiure Microsoft. I a lot of have questions (10 questions) about my MacBook Air and I hope you good people can and will help me.
    Product: MacBook Air
    Operating System: Mac OS X Version 10.7.4
    1) I Downloaded MacKeeper because I was fooled. I had a bad feeling just before I Downloaded it and I should have listened to my heart. However, I didn't buy it or fully Install it. It was like a test run and then they wanted me to pay almost $100 for it. Thankfully, I didn't because I read it is Malware. I spoke with an Apple Tech at Apple Care and he helped me get rid of it (or so we think). I don't see it anymore on my computer. I read it can slow down your computer. How can you tell if it's really off of the computer?
    2) When I open "Finder" and I see that there are people Sharing my computer with me. I went into AirDrop and it reads, "Other people can see your Mac as (my name) MacBook Air when their computer is nearby." I bought a HotSpot and while it's turned on and I selected it as my WI-FI connection I thought it would  get rid of these people, protect what I type, me, my items, computer, etc. But it didn't.
    I didn't know that I have to buy a exteral CD and/or DVD Player in order to connect to the brand new Modem and Router in one by NetGear. I am so used to PCs and the CD/DVD Players being built inside.
    The people at Apple Store told me that there is an internal modem inside, but I don't know how to find it and what to do then.  Should I use a Firewall?, An AntiVirus, AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, etc. Apple Care tech told me I don't need to get an AntiVirus.
    3) Is there a new kind of Wireless Modem and Router that doesn't require a CD-ROM?
    4) When I travel or fly and I am not close to home I was told by Best Buy and Sprint that I had to buy a mobile HotSpot to use the computer (WI-FI) safely. As I typed, I have one. But it's pretty expensive and only gives me 1 hour and 15 minutes per day to Stream. What can I do to use this computer safely Online when I am out of range from a Modem and Router? What do people do when they travel on airplanes?
    5) This compter won't let me use "Raid." I think you have to have a newer version. I hard about Raid on the radio from Leo (can't recall his last name) who's a Tech expert.
    6) Should I buy a ZipDrive? Apple Store Tech told me that I didn't need a ZipDrive. I just remember the episode of HBO's "Sex and The City" when Carrie looses everything because her copy crashed. Now, of course, I know that's a fictional show, but with PC's and Microsoft I have lost everything when it crashed, frooze up, etc. I know there's iClouds. I heard about Carbonite, but I have read the Pros and Cons about it. Mostly they are Cons about it. I just don't want to do anything wrong and mess up this computer.
    7) Should I buy a new Printer/Copier/Scanner because mine is an HP. It's not new, but it works. I even have a CD-ROM for Macs. What about the new product called, "Neat"?
    8) Is there a special product that I should buy to do Online Banking and/or other important stuff?
    9) I saw and read about iWork in the Apps Store and it sounds cool. I still have alot of friends and colleagues who still use Microsoft. Is iWork good to use? Should I Download it from the Apple Apps Store or can a buy it at Apple? Is there another Word Processing Program that is great and user friendly and will work with Macs and PCs?
    10) Should I Update the OS with OS X Mountian Lion Pro from the Apple Apps Store or buy it at Apple Store?
    In advance, I wish to thank you in this Apple Support Communites for your help.  Have a safe and happy holiday weekend!

    1) Here are instructions for removing MacKeeper. Since it mostly consists of manually looking for folders and specific files, if you follow the instructions you either fail to find what you are told to find (because your AppleCare guide gave you complete instructions which you followed) or you'll find some additional files that need to be replaced.
    2 & 3) I assume you are looking at the sidebar of a Finder window and seeing Shared and computers under it. Those are computers that you can potentionally share. To do so you'd need an account on their computer and a password. They are not sharing your computer.
    AirDrop allows you to create an adhoc network for filesharing and it only functions when you have selected the AirDop item in the SideBar. Actually doing that merely announces to computers in the same network node that your computer is available for a file to be sent to. Even then you have to explicitly allow the file to be downloaded to your computer. Similarly you'd be able to see other computers with AirDrop selected and be able to send them a file - which they'd have to accept.
    The only reason your NetGear Router comes with a CD is to install and run their 'easy' step by step configuration program. It can also be done manually with a browser. Read the manual to find the IP address you must enter to access the router's configuration menu. Apple's WiFi routers don't require a CD to install the software because the configuration software is already on your computer.
    I do have my firewall turned on. AntiVirus software isn't a bad idea - I use Sophos having tested it for a review for our local User Group and I found I liked it better than ClamAVx which is what I'd been using before. Both are free.
    4) I think you were scammed by Sprint and BestBuy. I use hotel, coffee shop, and restaurant WiFi spots and have for years. However, because they can be unsecured, I do not shop online or bank when I'm using them. I also use 1Password and don't reuse passwords so even if a sniffer should grab an account and password that's all it would get - one account.
    5) Raid doesn't really make sense with a MacBook Air - a RAID involves 2 or more disks being used as if they were one.
    6) Zip drive? No. External hard drive - yes. It isn't a question of if a computer's hard drive will malfunction, it is when. OWC has a nice selection of external drives and the Mac has a built in backup system called TimeMachine. Due to the way TimeMachine works, I've found that your TimeMachine drive should be at least twice as large - and preferably 3-4 times as large as the data you are backing up.
    7) if your printer works and it has Mountain Lion drivers, why replace it?
    8) Online banking is done with a browser - Use Safari or FireFox
    9) If trading files with Windows users is important Mac: Office is your best bet. If not, iWork, Mac:Office, or LibreOffice are all good possibilities.
    10) you can only buy Mt Lion via the App Store.

  • A question about the impact of SQL*PLUS SERVEROUTPUT option on v$sql

    Hello everybody,
    SQL> SELECT * FROM v$version;
    BANNER
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    CORE    11.2.0.1.0  Production
    TNS for Linux: Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    SQL>
    OS : Fedora Core 17 (X86_64) Kernel 3.6.6-1.fc17.x86_64I would like to ask a question about the SQL*Plus SET SERVEROUTPUT ON/OFF option and its impact on queries on views such as v$sql and v$session. Here is the problem
    Actually I define three variables in SQL*Plus in order to store sid, serial# and prev_sql_id columns from v$session in order to be able to use them later, several times in different other queries, while I'm still working in the current session.
    So, here is how I proceed
    SET SERVEROUTPUT ON;  -- I often activate this option as the first line of almost all of my SQL-PL/SQL script files
    SET SQLBLANKLINES ON;
    VARIABLE mysid NUMBER
    VARIABLE myserial# NUMBER;
    VARIABLE saved_sql_id VARCHAR2(13);
    -- So first I store sid and serial# for the current session
    BEGIN
        SELECT sid, serial# INTO :mysid, :myserial#
        FROM v$session
        WHERE audsid = SYS_CONTEXT('UserEnv', 'SessionId');
    END;
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    -- Just check to see the result
    SQL> SELECT :mysid, :myserial# FROM DUAL;
        :MYSID :MYSERIAL#
           129   1067
    SQL> Now, let's say that I want to run the following query as the last SQL statement run within my current session
    SELECT * FROM employees WHERE salary >= 2800 AND ROWNUM <= 10;According to Oracle® Database Reference 11g Release 2 (11.2) description for v$session
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e25513/dynviews_3016.htm#REFRN30223]
    the column prev_sql_id includes the sql_id of the last sql statement executed for the given sid and serial# which in the case of my example, it will be the above mentioned SELECT query on the employees table. As a result, right after the SELECT statement on the employees table I run the following
    BEGIN
        SELECT prev_sql_id INTO :saved_sql_id
        FROM v$session
        WHERE sid = :mysid AND serial# = :myserial#;
    END;
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> SELECT :saved_sql_id FROM DUAL;
    :SAVED_SQL_ID
    9babjv8yq8ru3
    SQL> Having the value of sql_id, I'm supposed to find all information about cursor(s) for my SELECT statement and also its sql_text value in v$sql. Yet here is what I get when I query v$sql upon the stored sql_id
    SELECT child_number, sql_id, sql_text
    FROM v$sql
    WHERE sql_id = :saved_sql_id;
    CHILD_NUMBER   SQL_ID          SQL_TEXT
    0              9babjv8yq8ru3    BEGIN DBMS_OUTPUT.GET_LINES(:LINES, :NUMLINES); END;Therefore instead of
    SELECT * FROM employees WHERE salary >= 2800 AND ROWNUM <= 10;for the value of sql_text I get the following value
    BEGIN DBMS_OUTPUT.GET_LINES(:LINES, :NUMLINES);Which is not of course what I was expecting to find in v$sql for the given sql_id.
    After a bit googling I found the following thread on the OTN forum where it had been suggested (well I think maybe not exactly for the same problem) to turn off SERVEROUTPUT.
    Problem with dbms_xplan.display_cursor
    This was precisely what I did
    SET SERVEROUTPUT OFFafter that I repeated the whole procedure and this time everything worked pretty well as expected. I checked SQL*Plus documentation for SERVEROUTPUT
    and also v$session page, yet I didn't find anything indicating that SERVEROUTPUT should be switched off whenever views such as v$sql, v$session
    are queired. I don't really understand the link in terms of impact that one can have on the other or better to say rather, why there is an impact
    Could anyone kindly make some clarification?
    thanks in advance,
    Regards,

    Hi Dariyoosh,
    SET SERVEROUTPUT ON has the effect of executing dbms_output.get_lines after each and every statement. Not only related to system view.
    Here below what Tom Kyte is explaining in this page:
    Now, sqlplus sees this functionality and says "hey, would not it be nice for me to dump this buffer to screen for the user?". So, they added the SQLPlus command "set serveroutput on" which does two things
    1) it tells SQLPLUS you would like it <b>to execute dbms_output.get_lines after each and every statement</b>. You would like it to do this network rounding after each call. You would like this extra overhead to take place (think of an install script with hundreds/thousands of statements to be executed -- perhaps, just perhaps you don't want this extra call after every call)
    2) SQLPLUS automatically calls the dbms_output API "enable" to turn on the buffering that happens in the package.Regards.

  • Follow-up question about forms and SharePoint Online

    I asked a question about life after InfoPath earlier, and got a good answer:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/fb23b3d9-8a09-4267-aab5-09929f6a3082/life-after-infopath-seeking-advice
    After looking at all of the limitations of SharePoint Online, I'm wondering how developers are dealing with the limitations. Lets say you are asked to develop something that has complex logic, including fetching data from external web services, dynamically
    displaying parts of a process to people depending on role, and ending up with a printable document. In our on-premises environment, InfoPath is well suited to this task, with some code behind for some things. Or, if not using InfoPath, we would use application
    pages and workflow.
    Neither of those are available in SharePoint Online, so what would you do?

    Some things, such as the conditional display of content, can be done via JavaScript. More advanced items, such as integrating external web services would likely require a SharePoint "app". A SharePoint app is essentially a link to a separate site
    that is running an asp.net web app (or PHP, or whatever). This asp.net site can do anything it needs with any web services, or conditional formatting, or anything. Because it's registered as a SharePoint app, it can also call back into the SharePoint site
    and work with data. So, a SharePoint App could present the user with a robust form that simply sends the data back to a SharePoint list. The SharePoint app can also be surfaced on the SharePoint site itself in an iframe, so the user won't know that the form
    is hosted by another server.
    By the way, the ideas behind the app model permeate the entire SharePoint environment: instead of having the SharePoint server itself run all kinds of custom business logic, that workload is handled by other servers, so the SharePoint servers can be focused
    on running the core bits of SharePoint. InfoPath puts a large load on the servers, so it's out.  XSLT list views also put a load on the server, so they're also out. SSRS is an amazingly fantastic tool, but is not supported in the cloud (and there's no
    alternative). Timer jobs, event handlers, workflow, and many other things have been re-architected to take the load off the SharePoint servers.
