Question about Keep Alive feature in Forte 3.

Does anyone use Keep Alive feature under Forte 3.0F.2 environment.
I got trouble and encounters the following problem in the service objects
daily:

It seems that Keep Alive sometimes disconnects the connection between the
service objects and the environmental manager.
So that any further connection request from the client encounters the
abnormal exception.
Forte seems not to recommend to use this feature in the Forte Relase note
3.0J1.
She states that "Sites that chooses to test KeepAlives should report all
problems to Technical Support ( and let
Technical Support know that you have enabled this capability)"
Should I disable Keep Alive feature under Forte 3.0F2 environment?

I can`t find a view that is named like "APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_IR%". Is it not available on the evaluation instance.
I don`t want to use the build-in CSV download, becaus I want to export thousands of data sets. I got this already to work with APEX 3.0 and I get the sql from the application views. The procedure which creates the file runs a few hours and after that it is inserted into a table from which the user can download the file. In the procedure there happens a few other things, which are very import, so I have to create my custom solution.
And for that I thought it would be very very very cool if I can get the sql behind the interactive report with the filters ant those things.
Don`t you think that would be possible? I guess the APEX create a SQL although, or am I wrong?

A question about the Calendar feature on a Samsung SCH-u410?

I have an older Samsung SCH-u410, and I have a question about using the Calendar feature. I will set an event in the calendar and set a reminder. Then later I will turn the reminder off, but the alarm will still go off. Shouldn't setting the reminder box to off turn the alarm off. Am I forgetting to do something or is there a problem with my phone? Any info will be gratefully appreciated!!!! I can be e-mailed directly at >> personal information deleted <<

Thank you for your post Junebug. On most phones, turning the reminder off will stop the alarm from sounding. As this is a much older device, I don't have a phone to test. Have you tried removing the calendar event completely? Did you recently purchase this phone or have you had this for awhile?

A question about keeping screen field unchangable in selection screen

I have a program as below.

When I executed the report, the field for S_KAPPL is unchangable. This is as expected. But if I select one variant, the filed will change back to changable.
My question is how can I keep the field unchangable after I select variant?

When you're creating the variant you've to mark the check-box "Protect field" as true.
This will make the field as output only.

Questions about RH Server features

Hi Adobe users,
we're considering to recommend RoboHelp Server as a
publishing solution to a client. They are already using RoboHelp
and want to make the contents available online. Another issue is
centralized management of their help content documents. I'd be very
glad if someone could answer the following questions:
Is it possible to integrate RH Server
with a CRM system or another user management system for
authentication? Can it be integrated in a single sign-on
infrastructure?
How does the access control mechanism
work? Can I set permissions who is allowed to publish certain
documents/projects?
Does it support workflows
(review/accept/reject)? Or is this done using the staging
server?
Does it support content versioning?
Or do we need RH SourceControl for that additionally?
Does it support locking (check-in,
check-out) of documents to allow concurrent editing?
In short - does the RoboHelp server act as a document
management system, or do the authors have to store the contents on
their local computers and publish only the final version? Another
issue is translation management - can the authors publish one
language version, which is translated by other people (in other
countries) and published to the same server?

That's quite a laundry list!
The answers are pretty much, "yes", if I understand
correctly. That said, I don't know that much about CRMs, so your
mileage may vary.
To start, you might want to take a look at my article on the
Adobe Developer Network for an overall perspective.
Adobe
RoboHelp Server 6 improves the feedback loop
I view RoboHelp and RoboHelp Server as a "content" management
rather than a "document" management system though this is a bit a
semantics. Using variables, conditional build tags and Single
Source Layouts, you can manage the content of your output in a
fairly granular way (including to some level, your translation
issues).
In other words a team of multiple authors can manage the
content of a website in the way you describe with a combination of:
1. The authoring client (RoboHelp's main application) to
develop content and manage it.
2. RoboSource Control (for the check in, check out and
versioning you mentioned) where authoring content source material
is stored on a central server for backup and access by the team.
3. RoboHelp Server for managing the authentication of who has
access to the web server for publishing, etc. RoboHelp Server is an
Active Server Pages application running on IIS, typically with a MS
SQL Server or Oracle DB as the back end. As such, it uses Windows
Server straightforward authentication methods. When you set up the
author's project to publish to the server it will ask you for the
Username and Password. Once this is configured, it's seamless from
there. That login name/password can be the same as whatever you
call your single sign-on pair as long as it conforms to the Windows
Server scheme mentioned earlier.
The RoboHelp author who may be designated as the "admin(s)"
of the team can create and assign permissions from the authoring
client and otherwise manage the Server site remotely without having
to pester the Web Administrator for maintenance of the site.
The staging server scenario you mention is an option that is
completely up to your team and the IT folks. RoboHelp Server
doesn't care one way or another. It's just an application sitting
on a IIS web server. That server could be the "development or
staging" server or the so-called "production" or live server.
The different languages you mention could be published to the
same server and comingled into a single site (kind of messy) or you
could have different language sites (as long as they are different
domains/IP addresses) sitting on the same RoboHelp Server enabled
machine.
Regarding language, one important item to research is the
RoboHelp version you are using and it's language support. The
much-anticipated Adobe RoboHelp 7 (now in beta and expected "before
the end of the year") will have full Unicode/double byte character
support for 35 languages and a wonderful way of handling
translation workflows.

Stupid questions about keeping important calls on the FX application thread

I'm working on a project that I've been developing for about the last 6 months. I'm using JavaFX as the graphical side, but I'm taking input from a music processing program called Max/MSP, and I'm getting user input from a camera. Both of these things need to run on separate threads from my FX application thread. Up until now, things have been going smoothly. I can manipulate things on screen from my user input, and I have two way communication working between my JavaFX application and Max. Now, however, I need to start actually drawing stuff at runtime. Up until now, pretty much all FX side manipulations of been to just make translations. I now need to create, add, and remove children from Nodes. So I'm of course getting an error saying "not on FX application thread". I understand why it isn't on this thread, and why this is a problem. So I made some changes, so that calls that will make changes to the nodes on the stage, will only note the data, and then make the changes later, on the FX application thread. And then I run into problems, involving my own stupidity...
I have no idea how to get these calls onto the FX application thread. I mean, this should be really easy. I'm obviously missing something. Or maybe I'm just really tired, and have been looking at this for too long, or maybe the fact that it's been 6 months since I wrote this part of the code. But I see my Mainstage class, which extends Application. It has a start function, which sets up all my on screen do-dads (extended from Nodes and such), calls stage.show()... and then seems to end. When I've done things like call translate functions on my nodes from my user input thread, or from my communication from Max thread, things seemed to have worked. But now I'm thinking I might have been handling that wrong from the ground up. It seems likely that I should be having a "main game loop" (it isn't actually a game, but still, same principle) where I can tell the stage to update all the various nodes with the changes that have happened since the last frame, and try to get everything to update in time for the graphics to render at a reliable frame rate. And yet, I'm just not seeing how to do that. I'm sure this should be obvious, but I'm flat out blanking. And the time crunch is starting to descend... Please, if you can point out some standard way of avoiding this hopefully common newb mistake, I would greatly appreciate it!

Checkout the documentation on "Pulse" in the JavaFX Archictecture overview which may help clarify some of your questions.

In simple terms, as I understand it, the framework will check 60 times a second if anything is dirty and needs repainting. If everything is clean, it will do nothing. If something is dirty, it will repaint it (although the repaint is kind of clever and highly optimized to support region image caching, make use of hardware rendering, etc).
So you can see that the main rendering loop is essentially hidden from you. Instead you construct a SceneGraph, the system checks regularly whether or not the SceneGraph has changed, and if it has it renders the updated SceneGraph.
In most JavaFX applications, you have a UI with controls and add event handlers which respond to control input to update the SceneGraph. In such programs, creating a main loop is unnecessary.
You can set up an animation timeline say at, for example, 30fps (half the pulse rate), then, on every other pulse, nothing will have changed so no redraw will happen. This is only necessary if you are performing an animation or capturing camera input, etc yourself (rather than using a Transition for example).
Actually, if I get my state changes working properly in a runLater call, do I need to also write a main loop? No, you don't need to write a main loop. Depending on the exact application, you may want one, but if you are already getting events generated by your camera input at 30fps, processing each 30fps from the camera in a runLater call would work fine without creating a loop.
But you do need to be careful that you don't send too many runLater calls and eventually overload the JavaFX event queue. For example it makes no sense to make more than 60 runLater calls a second to update the scene, because the system will never update the scene more than 60 times a second anyway.
If you do get a working camera app integrated with JavaFX, please post or blog about it as I am sure many people are interested in such an application.

MSI X79A-GD45 8D overclocking 3930k question about Power Saving Features

i could do the oc for my 3930k.Now i am on 4.3ghz.Here are the settings i made ;
i didnt change the cpu multiplier left it on auto.
EIST and Turbo features are on.I just change the multpliers of the core limits for every core.I made core limit 43 for all cores.
Also i set the vcore offset feature to %12.5 and it made the voltage under load 1.280 which can hold system stable @ 4.3ghz.
when cpu is idle multiplier and voltage decreasing and when the cpu is under load voltages and multipliers increase.
thats what i want. But;
i tested the vcore offset as %100 the auto voltage under load increases to max 1.344.If i go for 4.8ghz probably i would need more than 1.344 on this situation what will happen?because i will need more than 1.344 but the auto voltage will give me just 1.344.How can we arrange this?
then i tried to enter voltage manually but the voltage didnt decrease even all the power saving features on.I haven't change any settings i mentioned above for the 4.3ghz oc.I just changed the vcore voltage to manuel. Everything stayed the same like decreasing multiplier under idle and increasing multipliers under load except the voltage.It stayed the same as i gave in the bios.

I read from somewhere that on msi boards if you put the cpu multipler manually you loose power saving features.Everytime under load or idle cpu will be stay at the same ghz.Is that true?
if i give the cpu multiplier manuel or vcore voltage can i benefit from the power saving features like decreasing voltages and multiplier under idle and and incresing them under load ?
or when i enter the cpu multiplier and voltage manually ,does the power saving features go away?

Two questions about the events feature

Sometimes I think it is OK to use different rolls for the same happening, e.g. when I have received photos from my wedding from a lot of people that did not syncronise their cameras to the second...
If I have understood correctly, my present rolls (iPhoto '06) will all be rearranged and called "events" when I install iPhoto '08. So then I'll have to sort all those photos from my wedding manually. Is this right?
Second question: I already have an "event" with my own photos from my brother's wedding. If another guest at the wedding sends me his photos and I import them into iPhoto, what will happen? Will those newly imported photos be automatically placed inside the already existing event, so that I will need to use an hour to find those new photos one by one if I want to place them in another event, or if I want to adjust them etc?

It depends on how you have your Events preferences setup.
If you leave the checkbox unchecked then the import will go into a single Event. Then you can drag that event into the already created wedding event.
If the checkbox is checked then the imorted photos will go into new events based on the date of the photo and the criteria setup for Events date. In either case you'll have to drag the new event(s) into the current wedding event.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Questions about several iPhone features....

Has anyone figured out how to do any of the following on iPhone?
1. Synchronize Notes in Outlook with Notes on the iPhone.
2. Delete more than one email message at a time.
3. Setup filters per email account to block out SPAM (using a POP or IMAP).
4. Create new folders within an email account. I notice iPhone automatically created a Sent and Trash folder once I started to use email. Can't figure out how to create my own folders.
5. Search names in contacts without using the alphabet list. For example, in my contacts I have only the first name and company name for a contact. Contacts on iPhone appears to sort contacts in the following sequence:
- 1. Last Name
- 2. First Name
- 3. Company Name
I don't remember the First name, but I remember the Company name. However, I can't find this contact in my list since it's listed by first name, which I don't remember. I am hoping there is search option available.
Any help on any or all of these items would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Search names in contacts without using the alphabet list.
There is no search. You can sort by firstname or lastname. Once you have a lot of contacts, you get the alphabetic rolodex to jump to a certain letter. Would it be useful to enter people and prefix either their firstname or their lastname with their company? Then you'd get some ability to sort a person by their company.

Question about Edit Original feature

If I place a jpg image in Illustrator, then click Edit Original, it opens the image in Windows Photo Gallery, which of course does me no good at all. I'm trying to find a setting somewhere that will open the photo in Photoshop, since I want to edit it. This seems like a no-brainer to me and should be the default, so how can I do this? I don't want to have to go through the extra step in Photoshop to open a jpg, save as a psd, etc.
I use this feature in Corel Graphics Suite all the time, and it will automatically open a jpg in Photo Paint, so that it can be edited, and I need this feature in Illustrator.

this works similar in windows as it does on a Mac on the Windows platform you find anywhere on your mounted hard drives a jpeg file right click and choose Properties in the properties panel there is the option to open the file in a specific application and another option to make this so for all similar files of this format.
Once you have made this change all your files of this format will open in the application you have chosen. If you choose photoshop al jpegs will open in Photoshop even from the edit original.

Question about bb calendar features

hi! i'm a new bb user and i would appreciate any help from bb expects in this forums. here are my questions:
1.) I'm having trouble syncing my calendar events from bb 8900 to google calendar. I've already downloaded the google sync application and it worked fine when i synched my bb phonebook to google contacts but not for my calendar. Everytime, I try to sync my calendar, this message appears "google sync is disabled while the blackberry is updating settings. please try again in 5 minutes."
2.) i put 15 minutes reminder for every item in my calendar but i never hear the reminder alarm go off. not even when i set my profile to normal or loud. i do see a pop up screen thought but i would rather have a reminder alarm like they do in nokia.
3.) I used to be a nokia user for 10+ years. Under their calendar module, I can categorize events like birthdays (and a cake icon appears), anniversary, reminders, etc while in bb, they're all just classified as appointments. Am I missing something?
4.) Finally, when I sign in on my yahoo messenger via bb's IM service, i noticed that i am also immediately signed in when i go to my yahoo mail via browser. now, my dilemma is how to sign out from yahoo mail via browser? because i tried logging out of my yahoo messenger but when i checked my yahoomail, i'm still signed in. plus, i cannot find the sign out link when i'm on the browser version of my yahoomail.

I think I can help with the Google calendar part. For this to work, you have to make sure that you schedule the appointment on the right calendar (my BB has a calendar for each email account I have on my BB).
To sync reminders, there is a check mark in the Google Sync options "Sync Reminders"
Conversly to the Google Calendar Sync, if I do set up a calendar appointment on my BB the sync program will have in red text above the syncing information "Another client has added to your calendar...to avoid duplicates those items will not be synced". This makes no sense to me and I haven't tried to figure out why that happens. To get rid of that red text, I have to log out of google sync, let the program delete all previously synced information, and then log in again and sync.

Question about keep no history option

How long does "no history" actually keep history when logged in? I understand that it deletes history on logout of skype, but if I were to keep skype running and just exit a conversation, will skype eventually delete that history? Or does that stay until I log out?

I too am having the same issue. I have it set for No History, however when I exit and come back the following day, everything is still there. I have to manually go in and clear yesterdays history. There has to be a way to delete history on exit. Maybe I am issing it somewhere?????

Question about unwelcome new feature: Hyperlink to URL added step

Does anybody know how to, in Numbers 3.0, remove the (very unwelcome) added feature when you click on an active URL, asking if you want to edit it or open it? (Instead of assuming that you want to open it in a browser window, and doing so forthwith.)
To explain that in more detail:
How it used to work. One of the most valuable (to my company) features in the previous version of Numbers was the ability to use the HYPERLINK formula to create a column of URLs that could be clicked on in rapid succession, also using Command-Tab to switch between the browser and Numbers. That is, in Column A you would have a list of domain names, say, 100 of them that you needed to check. In Column B, you would use this formula to create 100 clickable hyperlinks: =HYPERLINK("http://www."&A)
Numbers didn't "stop to ask" if you wanted to open the URL: it assumed, that if you clicked on it, that you wanted to open it up in your browser window.
How it works now: You can use the same formula, but when you click, the extra step has been added of asking if you want to "edit" or "open".
I'm wondering if there's some way around this, to remove this extra step.

Yes, works the same way here. I'll add it to my list of things that are gone. This one will have to get an asterisk since it's not so much gone as lass convenient.

Question about the "Suggestions" feature in the search box

How can you tell if the “Suggestions” in the search box are generic or part of my own browsing history? Can the suggestion history be cleared?

The reason I asked is when I start typing in the search box a drop down list of suggestions appears and some of the suggestions I'm not sure where they are coming from. Also, I thought maybe it was based on my own browsing. Example I was typing in a name and it started suggesting specific people. Curious if was because I had gone to their website in the past or it was based juts on my location and the algorithms of the search engine to make a suggestion. I have even cleared my browsing history but the same suggestions come up.
