Question: How to handle or rename lable of fields of the view configuratio?
Hello,
Ive a question about how to rename or use my fields/lables of the view configuration.
I placed two fields there and set a field description for the lable. But the problem is that it isnt multilingual. So I want to set this description or lable with an OTR text.
Where and how can I do that?

You can try the following for translation purpose:
Translation
You can use a dedicated transaction to translate field labels and captions that have been changed.
Example
You have changed field labels and captions on the opportunity overview page (application component BT111H_OPPT) and on the opportunity search page (application component BT111S_OPPT), in the UI configuration in transaction BSP_WD_CMPWB. You want to translate the changes that you have made in the views.
End of the example.
Activities
Finding Out the Context ID
Before you start the translation, you need to find out the context ID in the corresponding configuration.
Start the BSP Component Workbench.
Select the UI component and the view that you want to translate.
Click the Configuration tab, and click Choose Configuration.
In the Configuration Selection, you can choose a context ID.
Note
Alternatively, you can find out the context ID in the Technical Data dialog of the CRM WebClient UI. You can start the Technical Data dialog with the F2 key. You can find the context ID in the technical information about the configuration at runtime.

Translating by Using the Context ID
Start transaction SE63.
You see the page Initial Screen: Standard Translation Environment.
Enter BSP2 in the transaction code field.
You see the page ABAP Short Texts: BSP Layout Texts (Client-Dependent).
In the field Object Name, enter the context ID, which you have found out beforehand.
Choose the source language and target language, English as the source language and German as the target language, for example.
Click Edit to translate the object.
Save your entries.
Translating by Using the Collection
You can also use the collection for translation purposes. The collection technically corresponds to the package, which you can find out in the Technical Data dialog of the CRM WebClient UI. You can start the Technical Data dialog with the F2 key. The package name is available at the technical information about the UI component.
Start transaction SE63.
You see the page Initial Screen: Standard Translation Environment.
Enter BSP2 in the transaction code field.
You see the page ABAP Short Texts: BSP Layout Texts (Client-Dependent).
In the field Object Name, press F4 to start the input help.
In the field Collection, enter the collection/package that you found out beforehand.
You see a list with all context IDs that belong to this collection. Every configuration has its own context ID.
Click the RIGHT ARROW key with the quick info text Next Variant to see the corresponding view names.
Select the view that you want to translate.
Choose the source language and the target language.
Click Edit to translate the object.
Save your entries.

Firstly goto view->select the element that you want to make mandatory and set the State property to required.
Secondly place the below code in the WDDOBEFOREACTION
DATA: l_view_controller TYPE REF TO if_wd_view_controller.

* Check for mandatory attribute
cl_wd_dynamic_tool=>check_mandatory_attr_on_view(

Some basic questions how to handle Exceptions with good style
Ok I have two really basic Exception questions at once:
1. Until now I always threw all exceptions back all the way to my main method and it always worked well for me but now I am sitting at a big project where this method would explode the programm with throwings of very many exceptions in very many methods. So I would like to know if there is a more elegant solution.
2. What do I do with exceptions that will never occur?
Lets say I have a method like this:

If you're writing layered applications - and you should be - you want to identify the layer that will handle the exception. For example, if I'm writing a web app with a view layer, a service layer, and a persistence layer, and there's a problem in the persistence tier, I'd let the service layer know what the persistence exception was. The service layer might translate that into some other exception with some business meaning. The view layer would translate the business exception into something that would be actionable by the user.
And in all other cases I suppose you should use the fourth way. So I suppose it`s better to combine 2,3,4 ways as I have mentioned above.I don't know that I'd recommend special exceptions for every layer. I'd reuse existing classes where I could (e.g., IllegalArgumentException)
Sorry, I can give you advice how to avoid problem with try-catch in constructor. :-(You shouldn't catch anything that you can't handle. If an exception occurs in a constructor that will compromise the object you're trying to create, by all means just throw the exception. No try/catch needed.
You sound like you're looking for a single cookie cutter approach. I'd recommend thinking instead.

How to handle a comma in a field in CSV file during FCC ?
Hi,
I am having a requirement where we have to convert a CSV file into XML using File Content Conversion . The issue is one of the field in the file is having a comma inside. So the XML parser is taking it as a field separator and throwing an error.
The contents of the file are as follows:
"02975859","New Key","9","Failed, rejected by RTI server"
How to handle a comma inside field "Failed, rejected by RTI server".
Any help would be appreciated.

You have to write an java mapping programm to perdromance this task , in a estandar way i think is not possible , because the fiel adapter have just one option for the delimiter character.

How to hide the field from the view in the webdynpro application?

I got a requirement where in which ,default layout has the field name Time.......To......... which is (2 input box ) and one lable assigned to the container.........
Now my requirement is to hide this field from the layout for all cases of leave......(all types of leave)....
I got a few inputs from forum that we can achieve this by implementing the following steps..........
Create In context => Value attribute => Say Visibility
Go to its properties
Select com.sap.ide.webdynpro.uielementdefinitions.Visibility
In View Layout
Select UI Element Set Visible property to this context variable Visibility.
In wdDoModifyView() You can set this property to false

Can you people tell me where to create the value attribute........

As per your guidelines I have created the value attribute in View context (which has the field..... which needs to be hide)inside the value node say FieldVisibility.......and attribute name OldTimeDuration......and I set this value with uidefeneitions Visibility .......
and I bind this vaule with the field property visible(Time.......To..........)which I need to hide...........
Now in the view implementation tab ..........I have coded in the doinit method(since my requirement to hide the field from the layout in all cases).........
wdContext.currentFieldVisibilityElement().setOldTimeDuration(WDVisibility.NONE);
But if I deploy the application and see still am getting the same field dispalying in the screen.........
I even tried putting this code in wdmodifyview method.........same results........
Kindly tell me how to hide the field permenantly from the screen............(without any conditions.)

How do I create a global text field so the value will repeat on other pages?
This is the first time I've used Adobe Livecycle Designer ES2, My experience stems from Acrobat Pro 8. I have the following fields:
1. Date Field (date formatted)
2. Name (text formatted)
3. Chart # (numeric formatted)
4. Date of Birth (date formatted)
These fields will be on Page 1.. I have a form that's 4 pages.... once the user fills in the fields on the first page, I want it to automatically populate for pages 2 through 4. How can I make this possible?

There's an easy way to do it in Acrobat Pro, just not sure how in Livecycle Designer ES2Well, everything in those PDFs were form fields. You can make form fields in Acrobat - and then you can right-click on 'em and change their appearance, whether or not they'll accept rich text input, whether or not they'll scroll, and so on. It could also be done in LiveCycle Designer, for what it's worth. I wrote a now-obsolete post about this in response to yours before Mike showed up with this video.
Probably most of your work on your designs in InDesign would need to be trashed; you'd need to rebuild the whole thing in Acrobat or LiveCycle. I have to say that, unless your targeted documents are extremely simple, that this is one of the worst document translation workflows I've ever seen in the last fifteen years. It might work - I'm trying to keep an open mind, here - but if you have any non-Latin-script languages in your target list, or if print reproduction is what you're after, or if you're expecting tracking revisions to the translations to be anything but a nightmare, I would suggest that you test this method inside and out before progressing any further. -

My question is How can I increase the size of the Order number field in 'Need online access to your existing account regisrtation' form?
In the B2B registration process of a user of an existing account.
When a user clicks on 'Need online access to your existing corporate account?'
The following form appears with 3 fields Account number, Order Number and Order Date along with username, password and email fields.
The order number field is only 10 characters. We need the ability to enter order number with 11-12 characters . Can you please describe the changes that need to happen?
Do we need to modify the ibeCRgdBusinessCreatePartial directly?
I have modified this jsp but I get a java.lang.numberformat exception whenver I try to input more than 10 characters.

I will give a detailed explanation of my requirement. I am working in ICWEB client for utility services, In this case for a particular view in the bsp application CRM_IUFCS_IC/View1.htm i want to add a field but the field is not the context nodes, or any of the related entities in the BOl Model. But its in another root object in the BOL Model. So i would like to know how can i add this field into my layout.
e.g.:let context node in view to be modified is buag and the field to be added is under BuilHeader object. This is the scenario.

However, if you create a blank property node on the block diagram, and wire up the .net object to it, you will see a much different list of properties.
So, the property node created from right clicking a .NET container will be for that container, even if there is an object inside. To create a property node for the object, you must wire the .NET object to an empty property node on the block diagram.

How can I add my Sold to field in the infocube via transformation if it is a separate infoobject?

Really need your help...I want to include the Sold_to field in my Revenue BEx query but it is not available in the infocube I am sourcing from. It is however in BW as a separate infoobject. Is it possible to include the data in my infocube by adding a field to transformation and sourcing it from 0SOLD_TO? If so, how can it be related to the current data in the infocube (i.e. meaning how will it know which records are applicable to the said Sold to fields if there is no document number in the cube.
Please advise if possible or if there are better options which would not require updating the standard datasource 0CO_PA_1.

Sorry, Unable to understand your requirement....however below are options which probably may help you:
1) Add Sold to Infoobject in Cube...Enhance your datasource write logic to populate the datasource field and map accordingly.
2) Add Sold to Infoobject in Cube...Write Routine/Read Master data to populate in the cube....you should have logic and relationship to derive the same.

How to handle flat file with variable delimiters in the file sender adapter

I have some flat files in the ftp server and hope to poll them into XI, but before processing in XI, I hope to do some content conversion in the file sender adapter, according to the general solution, I just need to specify the field names, field seperator, end seperator, etc. But the questions is:
The fileds in the test data may have different amount of delimiters (,), for example:
ORD01,,,Z4XS,6100001746,,,,,2,1
OBJ01,,,,,,,,,,4,3
Some fileds only have 1 ',' as the delimiter, but some of them have multiple ','.
How can I handle it in the content conversion?

How to handle when Client and server write to the socket at the same time
Hi all,
I'm writing a socket communication when client and server may write information the the socket at the same time. I look every where but the samples from the internet only shows example of server replies to client after receiving requests from clients.
Let's say that:
Client 1 ->Socket 1 -> Server 1
Now if there are two threads in the server, one blocked waiting for the input from client on socket 1, the second one write something on the socket to client 1, is it possible?
And if it's possible, if at the time Server 1 writes information to Client 1, Client 1 writes some information to Server 1 too, will there be any conflict problem or the socket could handle that two ways communication simultaneously?
It's critical questions for me. Thanks for your help.I really use Server Client paradigm. However, beside the request, response mechanism, there is also an additional mechanism called update which server periodically send information update to client without the need for a request from client.
So you suggest client should initiate 2 sockets, one for request and response, one for receiving update from the server? Will this work? -
How to handle weird characters in form fields (like bullet points from Word docs)
hi there
lots of my users copy and paste from MS Word documents into a
text area
my app takes that form.textarea data and inserts it in a
MYSQL db.
when we output that cell from the db, we often find there are
? [question marks] where there once were special characters in the
Word doc text.
it seems that bullet points in word docs are the worst
offenders.
each time i spot a new one i try to find out the chr() number
for it and make a substitiution before the text is stored in the
db, but its a bit hit and miss (relies on me spotting it) and its v
time consuming
ive tried using functions safetext and demoronize - but they
dont seem to do what i need
im sure im not the first person to run into this - any
suggestions anyone?
