Question on simple HFM consolidation rule

Hi All,
Could anyone please explain what does the two funtions below do and how they are linked to each other? These funtions are used in Sub Consolidate example in HFM Manual.
dPCon = HS.Node.PCon("") - I know that this function gets the percent of consolidation from current POV
call HS.Con("",dPCon,"") - But I am not sure about this.
Thanks

Hi
Pcon - retrieves the consolidation percentage
Con function multiplies the value of thr Parent Total member by a specified factor and updates either the Proportion member or the Elimination member of the Value dimmension with the result.

  • The HFM Consolidation Mystery

    Hi,
I am looking to optimise the rules files that is being used for consolidation. I would like to have a clear understanding of how the consolidation exactly happens, thwe concept of subcubes, performace best practices, use of virtual memory and physical memory, detailed consolidation log files etc. Do we have some documentation that throws light on these topics?
I have referred the admin guide and it seems to explain the logical steps involved during consolidation and not the more technical details like memory utilization and the concept of sub cubes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers!!!

    Kelly,
Thanks for the help. But training does not seem an option as of now.
    Just a few questions.
Does the consolidation time include time needed to read/write the data into the dataBase. Is this value considerable compared to the total time taken for consolidation?
I have tried to implement certain timers onto the rule files to check the exact time taken for consolidating each POV. However, the total summation of times shown by the timers is merely half of the total consolidation time. What are the other process that may be taking the extra amount of time?
I would like to get a knowhow on where the remaining time is being used?

  • Consolidation rules

If the consolidation rules paraemter is set to No in Application settings, will the other rules in the rule file be run?
i.e The rule file contains all subroutines except Consolidate since the default consolidation needs to be run.
Will HFM execute the rule file when calculate or translate is run?

yes the rules will run, it will just ignore the SubConsolidate() and run up the tree and consolidate...

    Hi ThanhKP,
By disabling the Consolidation Rules in the application settings, the Intercompany account will be eliminated.
For more information regarding Consolidation rules, please refer to HFM Admin guide:

  • Consolidation Rules Formulas

    Dear Expert,
When I saw the consolidation example in Appshell Appset and I review the business rule "Consolidation Rules Formulas". That business rule contains the fields like as: Rule ID, Entity Method, Intco Method, All Formula, Group Formula, Minority Formula, and Remark. I just know that the field "Entity Method" and "Intco Method" contains the method code from the business rule "Consolidation Methods".
I have the questions like as:
    1. We can input the field "Entity Method" and "Intco Method" only one code or the sequence of code in the business rule "Consolidation Rules Formulas". What is the different that we input one code with the several code ?
    2. What is the uses of the field "All Formula", "Group Formula", "Minority Formula" ?
Thank you very much for your answer and I really appreciate it.
    Best Regards,

I am very hesitant to agree that merging the Method Based Multipliers will give the same result as keeping them separate, in the IFRS starter kit.
As an example, how will you be able to develop an Elimination and Adjustment Rule that targets Newly Acquired companies and differentiate them from existing companies, in addition to treatment of mergers.
These methods (Leaving, Merger, Step Acquisition, Newly Acquired Purchase and Newly Acquired Equity) are distinguished in the method ID, then grouped through Method Based Multipliers. NOT for the purpose of the equation only (ALL FORMULA, GROUP and MINORITY), but also since the Elimination and Adjustment Rule does not have an Entity Field or Method Field, it has METHOD Multiplier.
To explain, Line one of the Method Based Multiplier addresses Existing Companies that have intercompany values with Existing Companies. Line two addresses Existing Companies that have intercompany values with newly Acquired companies, leaving, merged and so on.
Line three addresses newly acquired companies, leaving and so on with existing companies. and line four, newly acquired, leaving, ect... with newly acquired, leaving, ect...
Now the question is, how will you develop an elimination and adjustment rule that targets newly acquired companies, moves the data from F00 to F01, under the Audit_ID INPUT11, for the consoscope and the same month, then conduct the elimination. Or divested to be moved to F98, in addition to other flow/AUDIT_ID treatment. These are different than Existing companies that will not need to be moved from F00 to F01....
To add to it, how will you be able to differentiate in your ELIM and ADJUST Rules between:
    All entities but Leaving
    All but leaving, divested Interco
    Newly Divested
    Step Acquisition
    Step Divestment
These methods cannot be grouped in the same method multipliers of the existing companies, as the ELIM and ADJUST rules have their field limitations and run on "Entity Group" as per Ownership Model. Thus the need to have these multiple Method Multipliers, despite having the same ALL_FORMULA, GROUP and MINORITY.
As for ALL_FORMULA, it is usually 1. which means automatically -1. this is to eliminate mainly the amount.
Group formula and minority formula are both referenced in the method multiplier (PCON, PCON-POWN, POWN, ect...) and dictate the amounts that will be posted and eliminated.
Minority is used for Equity type ownership, where the holding company owns less that 50% (since proportionate is no longer used in consolidated). it targets the Retained Earning of the held company (equity owned) and eliminates the value. then it reflects the % of ownership of the RE on the
Minority Interest Account of the Held company's consolidated Balance sheet. So if the holding company owns 25% of Company A, and the NI of the held company is 100 USD, the Minority Field in the formula is dictating that only 25 USD is reflected on the Minority Interest of the consolidated company's balance sheet. Meanwhile, all formula is posting the inverse of the amounts for all accounts and group is posting yet another calculation.

  • ERPI - cannot run extract for HFM metadata rule

    Hi,
I'm in the process of configuring ERPI for FDM/HFM, no EPMA, version 11.1.1.3. Things are working fine until I created an HFM metadata rule and wanted to run the extract.
I see the extract ID and I can look at the process details and see it in there, but nothing is happening: no processes in ODI Operator, no log entries for the process ID in ERPI.
Can somebody tell me what I'm missing? Also, is there a log file with information on what's going on behind the scenes, in case the process doesn't even get to ODI?
    Thanks,
    Matt

Simple explanation: the agent wasn't running.
I haven't found out if there is a log file with general information, though. Does anyone know?
    Thanks,

  • Consolidation Rules Formulas table

    Hi,
I am working on a Legal Consolidation application in BPC7.0 MS version and have completed the legal consolidation using the standard rules that are configured by SAP BPC. Now the client wants to understand what the significance of the "IntCo Method" is in the Consolidation Rules Fomula table.
I have not found any documentation with information on why the Intco method is required. Does anyone have any information on the same?
    Thanks,
    Prasanth.

    Hi,
The "Consolidation Rules Formula" table controls how the amounts or the destination accounts should be calculated. The behavior is controlled by the rule being used, the consolidation method assigned to the current entity, and its INTERCOMPANY partner, if applicable.
One of the fields in the above table is "IntCo Method", which is, a valid Entity Method, as defined in the Consolidation Method table, a list of entity methods separated by commas, or 99 for all methods. Whatever you specify in this field should be present in "Method Code" column in the "Consolidation methods" table. This is just an ID which is fetched from "Consolidation Rule" table and based on this, the corresponding "Method Type" is fetched from the "Consolidation Rule" table. For example, it might be Holding, or Equity, etc.
    Hope it helps.

  • Elimination in Consolidation rule

    Hi,
I have a doubt on Elimination in Consolidation rule.
Following is the scenario coppied from comma.rle from Comma application(Sample Applications)
    Assume dpcon=80, dpmin=20
    dPCon = HS.Node.PCon("")
' Here Pcon value is called. On basing our asumption dpcon will be 80% now.
    *call HS.Con("V#[Elimination]",-1*dPCon,"")*
    ` Here the 2nd argument is -1*dpCon.
`Will the system take it as 100-dpcon(20) or -1*dpCon(-80)?
`Will this value will be consolidated to parent entity under [Elimination](value dimension)?
    *call HS.Con("V#[Elimination].A#" & strPlug,dPCon,"")*
`Here the dpCon(80%) is transferred to plug account under [Elimination](Value) - What is its necessary to transfer 80% of value to plug account under elimination.
Please explain with the assumed values or example.
    Edited by: user8452342 on Jul 22, 2011 4:05 AM

I think you're asking how the PCon parameter works: during consolidation, the HS.Con function multiplies the data value for the current record by the PCon value. If PCon is 80 and the data value is 200 for example, this will consolidate 0.80 * 200 = 160. This will be written to the [Elimination] node you specified. In your example you also multiply the result by -1, so the consolidating value will be -160.

  • Question Regarding QoS and Firewalls Rules

Hello experts, I hope a simple question for you today. I am working to elevate our outdated H323 traffic down a VPN tunnel we are only getting 600k throughput on.
Under "Networking --> QOS --> WAN QOS" I have configured the downstream and upstream bandwidth rates using the 85% rule. I have also created a bandwidth profile called VOIP using 128-256kbps with a priority of "High"
Under "Traffic Selector" I have created the profile using the VLAN 100 for the IP phones with the VOIP bandwidth profile.
My question, is this the correct configuration and I'm done? Or do I need to go further and create the same IPv4 rules in the firewall rules giving it a QoS Priority of "Minimize Delay"
Is there a way in SA540 to see the QOS statistics to see if they are working correctly?  I appreciate your input as always experts!!

It's about the relevance of the link. Some will post a vague link to the SAP help that adds no value to anyone trying to find the answer to the question, whereas a targeted link to a - possibly difficult to find - page can be very useful.
It's a bit of a subjective thing, example:
A detailed question asks about technical info behind assigning a cost center to an organizational unit in the org chart.
    A reply such as:
    Check [this link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/0b/dfba3692dc635ce10000009b38f839/frameset.htm].
Is just wasting everyone's time. Unfortunately we see a lot of these, people seem to think it's a quick way of getting cheap points but it just frustrates everyone else.
Asimilar answer can however be very useful if it contains a targeted link that relates directly to the question, e.g.
See the help on [account assignment infotypes|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/bb/bdb2b6575911d189240000e8323d3a/frameset.htm].
However a generic link as per my first example as part of a detailed explanation with a comment of "further info can be found over here" is a good post since the purpose of the link it more for convenience or reference info in addition to the answer in the post.
    Hope that helps,
    Mike

  • HFM Consolidations using Task Flow Automation

I have created a task flow that has 5 stages (each stage having a success and a fail link). The first stage is set to consolidate (Impacted) our Actuals scenario for 6 years for 3 entity trees). The 2nd stage consolidates a different scenario for 3 yrs for 3 trees, etc. The task flow seems to "stop" in Stage 1 after consolidating all 3 trees for a few years. If I look in the View Taskflow status, the task flow still shows as being active; however if I look under Running Tasks, it shows nothing is running. If I look under Task Audit, it shows the last consolidation finished. I run into this same problem both when I schedule the task flow and when I run it manually. It consolidates a few years and then stops (and it's still in the first stage). I looked in the Event log on the HFM server and don't see anything that looks suspicious. Has anyone else had this problem?
Also one more question - when I go to automate the task flow, why does the server time stamp listed there not match the clock on the server? I'm remoted into the server and the clock on the task bar says 9am, but the Server Date showing on the Starting Event tab shows 8am.
    Thanks.
    Terri

I just got back to looking at this today. I ran the task flow to consolidate 2004-2009 actuals for 3 trees for all 12 months. All 3 trees were consolidated for 2004. Two trees were consolidated for 2005 and then it stopped. Both 2004 and 2005 are in the same stage of the task flow, so if the settings were correct for 2004, they should be fine for 2005. If I look at the task audit screen, it shows that it started consolidating the 2nd tree of 2005 at 8:32am. It then shows my id logging off at 8:33am and that the consolidation finished at 8:38am. Then it shows my id logging off again at 8:47am. The task flow is set up so that my id logs in for the 1st stage and then the following stages are set to use Initiator ... but the flow isn't getting to the 2nd stage be/c it dies.
If I view the status of my task flow, it still shows as being active. I don't understand why the task audit shows my id as logging off be/c I still have the same 2 HFM sessions running as I did when I initiated the task flow ... unless it's the session that starts up to run the task flow that's getting logged off ... but if it is, I don't know why. Would the auto-logoff after so many minutes of inactivity cause this? Maybe that session appears inactive even though it's waiting for the task flow to do it's thing.
1:07pm Follow-up - After the task flow hung this morning, I manually stopped it. I then kicked off the same task flow again and it completed successfully about 4 hours later ... so it doesn't seem to be due to the auto-logoff (time out) setting.

    thanks for replying..
No this issue doesn't persists from Day one.We were able to do consolidation.
There were a few updates to my system,I am mentioning them:
    Patch apply:
1.Patch no:6880880-10.2 version for updating opatch version 10.2.0.5.1
    2.Patch no:9314073
The above two mentioned patches are the prequisite to apply PATCH 10051655,,We havent applied this patch as of now ,because after applying patch no 9314073 we cant see the changes in workspace.
Now once again to resolve our consolidation error we have applied the patch fix 11.1.1.3.50 but still there is no consolidation.
Still it shows the same error.
