Questions in XI scenarios

Hi all,
I am trying some scenario in XI, i have some Q`s regarding it:
1) The scenario is picking a file from SIEBEL     system >XI>R/3 system
In this scenario, should i choose a BC or FILE adapter to pick up the file from SIEBEL and post it into the R/3?
2) Also i know that a BAPI can be invoked via RFC, but i also have an understanding that external definitions can be created to import the BAPI structure as a WSDL file for mapping, is my understanding right? under what kind of situations we go for external definitions?
Memebers, your response will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Harika,
>>>1) The scenario is picking a file from SIEBEL system >XI>R/3 system
In this scenario, should i choose a BC or FILE adapter to pick up the file from SIEBEL and post it into the R/3?
if you have a flat or XML file then choose file adapter
this is an adapter used for file handling
>>> 2) under what kind of situations we go for external definitions?
don't do this - do the standard RFC/bapi import into the
XI repository - you just have to create a connection to
R/3 from which you can import this structure...
if you want to connect to r/3 that this means you can get
this rfc/bapi structure as a standard import
so there's no need to use external definition of a bapi

but if i use a filesystem that has an entry in SLD i get the file.
    i am confused..
    any help is appreciated

    hi kishan,

what do you mean filesystem in the sld ?
you can use business service as well
    (without any data in SLD)
    what errors have you got?
    did you check message monitoring?

  • Some questions about classic scenario

    Hi all:
For classic scenario,I found  the  SC with indirect material procurement could created a corresponding Reservation or PR in R/3,But for direct material procurement, the SC could not have any courresponding document created in R/3. Does it right.

    Hi,
This scenario relies strongly on the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) backend system(s), since all materials management documents, such as purchase orders, goods receipts, service entry sheets, and invoices are located there. Enterprise Buyer and one or more backend systems (SAP or Non-SAP) are implemented. All materials management is mapped in the ERP system. All materials management documents (such as purchase orders, goods receipts, service entry sheets and invoices) exist in the backend system.
SAP Enterprise Buyer is used to create the shopping cart and obtain approval if required. The goods receipt and invoice can also be entered here. SAP Enterprise Buyer communicates this information to the backend system where the active documents are created.
    This scenario suits customers:
    •     Who want a wide user group, for example employees not necessarily working in the purchasing department, to be able to enter their requirements quickly and easily. SAP Enterprise Buyer’s functionality and ease of navigation allow this, as it requires only minimal training
    •     Who want their purchasing department to operate solely with the functionality offered by the backend system(s)
    •     For whom a transfer of purchasing activities to SAP Enterprise Buyer is not viable
If collective invoicing needs to be conducted, the classic scenario must be used.
    Hope this helps u....
    Reward points if useful...

  • Question on PDP scenario?

    Hi Friends
Why SRM 7.0 doesnt support PDP with standalone scenario. What settings need to be done inorder to enable PDP with standalone scnario in SRM 7.0

    Hi,
MRP, PS(project System), PM(Plant Maintenance) are in ERP side.
Do you expect those in SRM server? What is your expectation and business process?

    Hello,
Standalone scenario: As the name suggests, All the procurement functions are done in SRM & financials are handled by backend system.
The customer does not have a productive Materials Management system and wants to handle the
entire process locally within the Enterprise Buyer, integrating only to an accounting system.
    - Accounting processes (including FI, CO, and AM) must still be handled by a back end system. All
validations and approvals are handled directly within Enterprise Buyer rather than in a back end
    system.
    - A shopping cart is created locally and will be further processed locally to create a purchase order.
Self service procurement Yes, PDP- No
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • Remaining questions while evaluating JavaFX for a new project

    Dear forum members:
currently I am evaluating the possibilities of next-generation GUI technologies, such as JavaFX, Silverlight and Flash/Flex, for a new project. To get a basic understanding of JavaFX's concepts, I worked through the available online text and video tutorials, and all the treated topics seem quite obvious/comprehensible to me +as long as one is only confronted to relatively static GUI component hierarchies+. But, as a newbie, some questions concerning more dynamically defined GUIs (i.e. dynamic JFX scripting*) still remain.
    Application scenario (exemplary):
Say I want to create a "Online Shopping Application" that supports "+ShopOwners+" in *dynamically* defining the "+Shop Model+" structure, e.g. accepted visitor (client) categories, product categories their products, pricing information, payment methods, etc.
Then, based on the dynamically defined model, the shop owner should be able to design and layout the necessary forms, such as order forms, survey/feedback forms, etc. This should be done in "design mode", and there should also exist a possibility for him/her to preview the specification results in a "preview mode".
Finally, the shop owner must be able to save the model and forms on the server side in a way that can requested and run be the shopping app end users (the shop clients) via (another (?)) JavaFX frontend.
_The still remaining questions for this scenario are:_
+1. Is JavaFX appropriate for creating such kind of applications, especially when it comes to dynamic JFX scripting (and compilation) on the client side??? (By now I'm not quite sure if this is really necessary for my plans!)+
+2. Concerning the ShopOwner's GUI with its design and preview mode (and knowing that the latter mode will be the GUI version presented to the shop clients in another JFX module):+
+Is it possible to *dynamically *build up a +Scene Graph+ in a way that lets me handle and *compile* the corresponding +JFX Script+ on the client side for previewing it? Or is a client-server roundtrip absolutely necessary?
How could one persist this JFX Script on the server side? I.e., which intermediary format would be the most appropriate? => XML, JSON, JFX Script?
    3. Concerning the "Shop Model", would I optimally create JFX classes or even Java Beans to bind to?
    4. And finally: What would be your recommended way (software architecture) to fulfill this task in JavaFX?
Do there already exist some JFX components (dynamic forms/survey authoring modules, etc.) that persue a similar task and that I didn't find yet?
As the clarification of the above-mentioned issues are very important for me, I hope that you more experienced users can help me, pointing me to a practicable approach.
Thank you very much for any help and constructive tips in advance.
    Best regards
    Martin Meyers

Q1: Do I optimally need 2 different custom components for each treated concept, or do I have just 1 component with 2 internal modes (design & preview/usage)??
E.g., (a) FormSpec widget composed of LabelSpec, TextBoxSpec, ChooseBoxSpec,... widgets each having their preview pendants
    Form, Label, TextBox, ChooseBox, etc.
    versus
+(b) only Form widget composed of Label, TextBox, ChooseBox widgets, but all having a "design/preview execution mode".+
Closer to (b), I think, though each widget doesn't need to be modified to have design and preview modes. Instead, each widget can be wrapped within a Group to provide the design/preview functions without modifying the widget itself.
The technique is as follows. Given a sequence of widgets (Nodes, really), for each widget, wrap it in a Group that contains that widget but with an overlay Rectangle in front of it. The Rectangle can be semi-transparent, or fully transparent if you prefer. (In the example below I've made it a semitransparent color to make its location obvious as well as to provide a highlight that signals design mode.) The overlay Rectangle is set up so that its dimensions will exactly track the dimensions (bounds) of the widget behind it. I've set blocksMouse to true so that when it's present, the overlay traps events and prevents interaction with the widget. There is a boolean variable previewMode, controlled by a CheckBox, that controls the visibility of these overlay rectangles. I've also added a bit of code to track mouse events on the overlay rectangles so that you can move the widgets around when you're in design mode.
Note that the visible variable differs from transparent, i.e. opacity == 0.0. If a node is visible but is transparent, it is still eligible to receive events; whereas if visible is false, it does not receive events.
Here's some code that illustrates this technique. I'll answer your other questions in a subsequent post.

  • XML file to XML file scenario

    Hello Experts,
    Have one question.
My scenario is MDM -> PI -> WebSphere.
But its file to file scenario.
MDM has a limitation in which it can either generate file with 1 record or 1 file with all the records.
If it will generate 1 file for 1 record and PI will transfer 1 file for 1 record to WebSphere its difficult for WebSphere to consume it and its time consuming for WS.
If MDM will dump 1 file for all the records then its going to be a very huge file to handle by PI.
So is there any way that i can get 1 record per file from MDM and generate 1 file with 200 records for WebSphere, without BPM?
Bcz with BPM i have to take so many approvals and there is no time for it.
Please let me know the solution if any.
    Thanks,
    Hetal

    Hi hetal,
I agree that MDM sends huge data if they syndicate all records in a single file.
You can take all records in One file format from the MDM side and in the sender channel you can split the recordset per message .You can set 200 records to be processed once. In  the webspher side you can have files created for every 200
records.Second way is to created multiple files in the target using Message mapping itself. Create A udf to count the number of records and if its >or = 200 ,create one set of message. its the same multimapping concept. In targets many files will be created with say 200 records which webshper can process easily.

  • RFC Comm. Channel question.

    Hi all!
    I've got a question about RFC scenario's.
    <b><u>This is the situation:</u></b>
In a scenario "A" i use a comm. channel called RFC_Receiver, but in scenario "B" i also use this comm. channel to send data to R/3 from XI.
Scenario "A" has an integration process which called a function module in R/3 using the comm. channel.
The function module in R/3 has been edited and now has an extra export parameter (response of the module). I imported the RFC again in XI, so the new structure is known and can be used in the mapping. When using the new structure by sending a document through the integration process, we first have to set the comm. channel RFC_Receiver to INACTIVE. Then set it to ACTIVE. I've been told that this has to be done, if not it will still run with the old structure. (see question 1 below)
Now, when i transport all the changes to the production system, scenario B also will try to use RFC_Receiver. Now i have to set it to inactive and then to active (see above situation). So when i set it to inactive, i expect Scenario B to generate errors when it has to process a message. (see question 2 below)
    <b>Now my questions:</b>
<b>1.</b> Do i really need to set the Comm. Channel RFC_Receiver to inactive, then activate it, set it to active and again activate it?
<b>2.</b> RFC_Receiver is an object used by scenario A and scenario B. When i set it to inactive for scenario A, will it also be set to inactive for scenario B? (i think it will, because it is 1 object)
Can anyone help me clear out these questions? It will me much appreciated!
    Thanks in advance.

    From tthe RFC adapter FAQ
<i>Q 5: What's about cache memories within the RfcAdapter?
A: The RfcAdapter has a cache for the metadata of function modules. This means it caches the definition of function modules, structures and other datatypes. A separate cache is used for each communication channel. When the particular data is needed during runtime, the cache is filled from the configured RFC metadata repository. Once if a particular metadata has entered the cache, only this one is used and no lookups to the RFC metadata repository are made for this type of metadata. If the communication channel is changed within the Integration Directory and gets replicated to the appropriate Adapter Engine (see Environment -> Cache Notifications...), this metadata cache is cleared. The caches for all communication channels are cleared when the J2EE Engine is restarted, the RfcAdapter J2EE Service 'SAP XI Adapter: RFC' is restarted or a dependend J2EE Service is restarted ('SAP XI AF CPA Cache', 'SAP XI AF Messaging').</i>
After making the change in your RFC , reason you need to deactivate and activate the RFC adapter is that the RC metadata needs to be cleared from the Cache so that the new RFC metadata is used by the RC adapter.

  • Aggregation level - design  question

    Hi, All
    we are in BI-IP ( Netweaver 2004s SPS16).
I have a design question for this scenario.
User needs to plan the amounts for a duration (start period and end period), Jan2008 -Dec2008 (001.2008, 012.2008) = 12000.
    We need to distribute this to the periods equally. 001.2008 = 1000, 002.2008 =1000 .... 012.2008=1000.
If the user changes the period amounts, it should be reflected back in the duration amount.
Pl suggest the design for the aggregation levels to achieve this.
    Thanks in advance.
    velu

    Hello Velu,
As the name also goes, creating an "aggregation level" will only result in "aggregation". What your requirement is, is called disaggregation or distribution - this cannot happen automatically - you will either have to use the feature in input queries or use the distribution planning function or create your own planning function using fox/exit.

  • Structure Conversion in Fileadapter in a server proxy scenario

    Dear all,
i'd like to do the follwoing thing in XI:
    1. Receive a structured text file
    2. Make an content conversion:
File is structured in the following way:
    - all records have fixed field length, there are two possible types of record, indicated by the first 2 characters e.g.
    AA Recordtype 1
    BB Recordtype 2
    BB Recordtype 2
    BB Recordtype 2
    BB Recordtype 2
    AA Recordtype 1
    BB Recordtype 2
So each record of type 1 is followed by 0 - n records of type 2.
    3. Send the converted message into an ABAP inbound proxy
I have some questions regarding that scenario:
    a) Can i use the flag "Recordsets per message" in XI to control if my message should contain multiple recordsets (one recordset would be associated with one record of type 1 and N of type 2)
    b) How will i access in the server proxy class the records. Will I have a field for the recordset (or a table of recordsets if i don 't use the flag "Recordsets per message" in XI ).
What about the subfield? Will I have a table structure for the record of type 2?
    c) Is the file content conversion I described feasible?
Many thanks in advance for your replies

    Hi,,
    a) Can i use the flag "Recordsets per message" in XI to control if my message should contain multiple recordsets (one recordset would be associated with one record of type 1 and N of type 2)
why? i dont see any productive for this.
    b) How will i access in the server proxy class the records. Will I have a field for the recordset (or a table of recordsets if i don 't use the flag "Recordsets per message" in XI ).
to integrate with a proxy see nexts PDFs, is the same for BW,BI,R3.
    follow this guide

What about the subfield? Will I have a table structure for the record of type 2?
    c) Is the file content conversion I described feasible?
hi, yes it can be done.

  • ABAP Question

Hello, I have a question. My scenario is to code in user exit in ECC system and get multiple entries. meaning:
I have a table called Totals table and another table called Line Item.
Totals table has one document and Line item has 2 line item document for that one document.
I want to code in user exit that will get both documents in Line Item table.
What is this process called in ABAP? I am looking for its syntax.  I have done coding where I only fill the field if sy-subrac = 0 but have never added more than one line to the package.
    Thanks.

Please check if this one is equivalent field
    DMSHB
    This is present in DataSource
I am little bit confused looking at my system because Amount in Local Currency should be present by default and it gets data from BSEG for 0FI_GL_14 as per this link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/45/4f8e8bbf3f4f63a5dd197ef7d53fa2/content.htm
Extract structureneeds to be enhance with this Include structure...that's all
    FAGLPOSE_CORE
This will contain your required field

  • PI BPM synchronous scenario

    Hi,
I'm new to PI and have a question about synchronous scenario in PI using BPM.
Basically my scenario is like this.
    RFC1 --> (RFC2 >RFC3>RFC4) --> RFC1.response  (  ( ) means 'inside BPM')
What I'm having difficulty is that I call RFC1 and it needs to get result from RFC4.
I have done asynchronous scenario in BPM but for this case,
everything is synchronous and I don't know how RFC1 can call RFC 2 and get response from RFC4.
    Please help.
    Thank you.

    hi,  I have a BPM scenario which have these steps;
    1) write a WS request to txt file
    2) then  a java mappnig(no problem in this step)
    3) call an rfc get the response
    4) write the rfc response to ftp server
    5) if writing ftp is ok return a response else give an alert
    my bpm steps
open s/a bridge- send step asycn(txt)-transformation-send to rfc sycn-send to ftp
I did these, how should I continue?

  • Bbt question

Scenario : You have created a new database. You want 2 use DBMN_PROFILE to measure executio time of pl/sql program unit.
When you try to use DBMS_PROFILE, you find that is not available.
Question:Given the scenario described above, how do u make DBMS_PROFILE available for use ?
1>Increase the system global area heap size to at least 2 GB.
2>Create the stats collection table in ur database.
    3>Execute dbmn_profile.flush_data.
4>Run profload.sql as sys and proftab.sql as the profile user.
    5>Set serverprofiler on enabled.
I got this question in pl-sql bbt.
    What will be answer ??
I am just a new guy in this database world. I know simple stuffs in sql and plsql. Which area covers such things ?

  • Receiver Synchronous and BPM Scenario

I have a scenario and needs to design the same.
Procedure needs to Kick off in the Iseries from XI and then that will generate 3 views which will be view of two tables in Iseries. These views needs to be read by XI and each view will have an idoc generated.
    Solution I thought:
    1. receiver synchronous which will Kick off procedure and return OKAY code and in BPM, it will do the send step and do the following.
3 receiver synchronous for three querries and three send steps willl be in BPM and gradually map to the IDOC. Each view will have 1 IDOC respectively.
I am not sure if this will be good solution . Please suggest if you have better solution. Please ask me more question about the scenario if it is not clear.
