Questions on OCS and workflow

I am wondering whether I can configure the following:
- Can I have multiple views? Example, view documents by Author, Project, Category? Can I customize document
views?
- Can I control access rights on a single document?
- Can I monitor or extract a report on how often a document is accessed?
In addition, I have the following problems with OCS Workflow:
- The Workflow has no default email notification. Documentations indicated that Email Notification has to be configured to work with SendMail. Can Email notification be configured with OCS Mail instead?
It does not make sense to use SendMail instead of OCS Mail.
- Document can be viewed by Workspace members once it is uploaded. What is the purpose of workflow then?
- Document has to be manually submitted for review to initiate a Workflow process. Can this be performed automatically?
- WorkFlow approver is defined by the user. It should have predefined approvers.
- In Workflow notification, Notification Detail provides the URL but does not have a URL link back to the document. In this case, the review process is manual because the approver does not have an easy
way to preview the document.
Are my comments correct? Are there any workarounds?

Roger,
1) The default SPINCOUNT value is 0 (no spinning) for all platforms that are supported today. (At one time we had a default value of 5000 for Sequent hardware, but it has been many years since we supported that platform.) The SPINCOUNT value that will work best for any application depends on many factors, including the number of CPUs on the machine, the hardware platform, and the indvidual application. SPINCOUNT will only be useful when the machine has more than one CPU.
2) /Q logs Q_CAT:1447 after 50 unsuccessful attempts to obtain the semaphore when the semaphore has never been released and reobtained by a different process or the same process during that period. The Access Control List code uses the same rule for logging LIBTUX_CAT:1511. If TMSPINCOUNT is set, then the number of unsuccessful attempts to obtain the semaphore is incremented by 1 only after TMSPINCOUNT spins have been done.
Code for the BB semaphore and the semaphore used by /Domain follows a different rule. This code will log LIBTUX_CAT:5005 or LIBGW_CAT:5010 if a process has to wait for the semaphore for 10 seconds and the semaphore has never been released by the original owner during this time period.
3) TMSPINCOUNT is used for the BB semapahore, AOM semaphore, ACL semaphore, /Domain semaphore, and /Q semaphore. Locking the GTT uses the same BB semaphore that used to lock other tables in the BB.

  • Question re templates and workflow

I have an elementary question, as I've recently taken charge of a Captivate project in progress. (I will not be doing the Captivate programming).
    Is the following workflow possible:
    1. Create a template for an on-line course which is composed of 4 modules, each with several lessons, videos and quizzes.
    2. Using Captivate, build the course with content (graphics, animations, videos, quizzes).
    3. Edit the original template. (e.g. by changing screen-to-screen navigation options, interaction with the LMS, etc)
    4. Apply the changed template to the already-built course, and have the course update automatically to reflect the changed aspects of the template.
I am receiving conflicting opinions as to whether this workflow is possible.
    Any clarifications most gratefully received.

    Lilybiri
    Thanks for your (prompt!) response.
This is bad news for our project, becuase I had hoped to get one guy building the slides and quizzes, while simultaneously another guy figures out how to get the course programmed and working on SABA.
    Thanks again!

  • Develop Form and Workflow in SharePoint Online and On-Premise

    Hi Expert,
I have the question about Form and Workflow in SharePoint Online vs ShrePoint On-Premise

    Hi MasterBird,
There is no documentation to explain the difference of the custom form and workflow between SharePoint Online and SharePoint On-Premise. For your issue, you can have a look at the following blog:

    Hi MasterBird,
    For SharePoint 2013 On-premise, we can :
Comlete control of our environment and data
    Supports heavy customization
    Keep sensitive information in-house
Easier integration into line of business systems
    Full development options for developers
    For SharePoint Online workflow:
Workflow 2010 & 2013 are available with Standard and Enterprise Editions without having to install
If using Windows Azure workflow functionality is the same as 2013
Cannot create custom Visual Studio workflows
For InfoPath Form Services you will need Office 365 Enterprise Could Edition or SharePoint Online Plan 2

  • Unable to check-in, check-out and workflow videos in an Asset Library

    Hi All,
This may seem like a silly question but I have yet to find anything official about why you cannot check in/out video files in an Asset Library or workflow them. We have an approval workflow in our publishing environment which works great and I'm able to
check in/out and workflow images and even documents in an Asset Library but not Videos. We want videos to go through an approval process as well and I'm not talking about simple Content Approval, we want it to go through an approval workflow but check in/out
is grayed out/disabled and of course we can't workflow the videos.
I take it there must be some reason for this but I haven't been able to find an explanation. Any info you can provide me was to why this functionality is disabled would be appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Lisa

Hi Lisa, it appears to me that Video content type do not have checkIn/Out feature as it derived from folder CT. You can use document library to upload video using document content type and then checkIn/CheckOut. Hope this helps.

  • Follow-up question about forms and SharePoint Online

I asked a question about life after InfoPath earlier, and got a good answer:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/fb23b3d9-8a09-4267-aab5-09929f6a3082/life-after-infopath-seeking-advice
After looking at all of the limitations of SharePoint Online, I'm wondering how developers are dealing with the limitations. Lets say you are asked to develop something that has complex logic, including fetching data from external web services, dynamically
displaying parts of a process to people depending on role, and ending up with a printable document. In our on-premises environment, InfoPath is well suited to this task, with some code behind for some things. Or, if not using InfoPath, we would use application
    pages and workflow.
Neither of those are available in SharePoint Online, so what would you do?

Some things, such as the conditional display of content, can be done via JavaScript. More advanced items, such as integrating external web services would likely require a SharePoint "app". A SharePoint app is essentially a link to a separate site
that is running an asp.net web app (or PHP, or whatever). This asp.net site can do anything it needs with any web services, or conditional formatting, or anything. Because it's registered as a SharePoint app, it can also call back into the SharePoint site
and work with data. So, a SharePoint App could present the user with a robust form that simply sends the data back to a SharePoint list. The SharePoint app can also be surfaced on the SharePoint site itself in an iframe, so the user won't know that the form
    is hosted by another server.
By the way, the ideas behind the app model permeate the entire SharePoint environment: instead of having the SharePoint server itself run all kinds of custom business logic, that workload is handled by other servers, so the SharePoint servers can be focused
on running the core bits of SharePoint. InfoPath puts a large load on the servers, so it's out.  XSLT list views also put a load on the server, so they're also out. SSRS is an amazingly fantastic tool, but is not supported in the cloud (and there's no
alternative). Timer jobs, event handlers, workflow, and many other things have been re-architected to take the load off the SharePoint servers.

  • Rename "BPM and Workflow" forum to "SAP Business Workflow"

    G'Day,
99% of posts in the [BPM and Workflow|SAP Business Workflow; forum deal with SAP Business Workflow. It was originally intended for ccBPM which - though they share some underlying architecture - is basically XI / PI.
A few ccBPM posts occasionally appear in the WF forum, but they are generally not answered and more appropriate in XI. These days I usually move them to XI when it's clear that the 'local' population won't answer it.
So to avoid confusion for people I propose to rename the forum to SAP Business Workflow or at least something that doesn't confuse it with XI.
    Any input welcome.
    Cheers,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
Well, you probably already know what I think ;).
If there is little to no traffic for BPM, then let's call the forum what it is, SAP Business Workflow - Or Workflow and Guided Procedures?
Sidebar: I posted a question to various forums a few weeks ago, regarding 'How can SAP, and ASUG WF/BPM serve you better'.  I am summarizing the responses I got below, in hopes that it helps guide you in your quest.  The names have been excluded to protect the identities, but I think there is some very valuable info in here.  Particularly the final point - which I will follow up on with the respondent.
Anyway, you didn't ask for it, but here it is.
    > 1. Have you attended any webcasts related to SAP lately?
No. Not lately, and not ever. (I suppose I am old-fashioned...)
    > 2. Are there any topics related to Workflow and BPM that you think are
    > important for the 'community'?
Integrating workflows and guided procedures - e.g. enhancing existing workflows to use browser interfaces.
    > 3. Looking ahead a year, what do you see as challenges in this area?
Processes that can be executed either in R/3 or in browsers, with information about the process progress etc, as in Guided Procedures. This will probably be the developers nightmare for the next few years.
    1. Have you attended any webcasts related to SAP lately?
-yes I did - quite a few, but mostly on web related stuff and XI.
    2. Are there any topics related to Workflow and BPM that you think are important for the 'community'?
    - personally for me, I still find the guided procedure in Portals not so user friendly and limited. I think more education and influence around GP will be great. I think the community will also appreciate it.
    3. Looking ahead a year, what do you see as challenges in this area?
    - GP and UWL. I think the concept of "IT doing the first time and the business managing their rules" would be challenging. I have not yet seen this happen, especially on the logistics side. There is a session this year on the same topic at TechEd and I look forward to this session. Hopefully it will help us get some insight.
Right now I am struggling with even getting Workflow off the ground and getting the business to understand what Workflow is and trying to have them budget for it. Workflow is still new to the functional group and even getting them to consider Workflow verse alternatives is somewhat of a challenge. I really have had a great consultant that has taken me under his wing and taken the time to teach me. I think we would be a great story for a presentation.
My challenges for the next year, is how to get over the hump of selling workflow to the business and actually getting projects planned out. I don't know if anyone has an anwer to that one. My other challege is how to handle transfer of knowledge and maintaining workflow that has been built by consultants.
    1)  I have not attended many SAP webcasts (just one on Solution Manager in the past few months)  I'm planning on attending one this comming Monday on BPM.
    2) I think understanding UWL / SBWP differences, advantages, limitations on one vs the other, would be an important topic.   Also more information on Extended Notiications
    3) Challenges: Upgrades and impact on WF,  Unicode and WF and having more WF ABAP OO objects delivered by SAP, other than the "Absence Notification" sample.
    1.       I havenu2019t personally attended but as a company we give a webinar once a week and weu2019ve had some great attendance
    2.       Technically I think weu2019re OK. We see the need to tell C-level execs where workflow / BPM can help them in businessu2026.
_3.       Workflow is becoming more and more obscure in the SAP landscapeu2026

  • Best Practice Re: Workflows and Workflow Components

    Hello,
As many know, CUP does not allow you to delete workflows and workflow components if they are referenced in a request somewhere. The solution I'm seeing here on the forums is to run a Request Delete Script from SAP. This is all well and good in a Sandbox environment, but we would not like to delete request information in Productoin.
So my question is: what is best practice for managing workflows and their components in Production? As time goes on, our workflows will change, our components might change, we might need to add a stage here or there or switch an initiator, etc etc. However, if I create a new workflow or component, I can't delete the old one. So essentially there's potential to have a lot of junk workflow/component data sitting out there because it's referenced in an old request somewhere.
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to manage this? Ex: If you change a workflow to add another stage, what are you doing with the old workflow since it's useless?
Let me know if I need to clarify further.
    Thanks!!
    Jes

    f l,
I'm not sure deleting keys from the registry is ever a best practice, however Xcelsius has listings in:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Business Objects > Xcelsius
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Business Objects > Suite 12.0 > Xcelsius
The current user folder holds temporary settings, such as how you've modified your interface.
The local machine folder holds more important information.
As always, it's recommended that you backup the registry and/or create a restore point before modifying or deleting any keys.
As for directories, the only directory Xcelsius uses is the one you install to.  It also places some install logs in the temp directory, but they have no effect on the application.

  • OWB 10gR2 on DB 11g and Workflow installation

    Hi all,
    my customer has a data warehouse running on Oracle DB 10gR2 - 2 nodes RAC - on Linux 32 bit (Red Hat enterprise 5);
ETL is developed with OWB 10gR2 and exploits Oracle Workflow (2.6.4).
They are going to upgrade the database to 11.1 (still 2 nodes RAC) on Linux 64 bit (Red Hat enterprise 5),
and they would prefer to avoid OWB upgrade.
On Oracle Support, it seems that OWB 10gR2 is certified on DB 11.1,
so our idea is to install a OWB 10gR2 repository on DB 11.1 and then export/import MDL
from current repository (OWB 10gR2 on DB 10gR2) to the new repository (OWB 10gR2 on DB 11.1).
My first question is related to Workflow:
is it correct to install Workflow on the new DB 11.1 using the software available in the home of OWB 11g software ?
is it guaranteed thet OWB 10gR2 installed on DB 11.1 will have no problems in using such installation of OWF ?
or should we install OWF 2.6.4 on DB 11.1 using the same software that was installed on db 10gR2 ?
    My second question is related to *32 bit vs 64 bit platform*;
intuitively, we should install the 64 bit version of OWB 10gR2 (and OWF) on the new plaftorm hosting DB 11g:
is ita potential issue for the OWB repository migration ?
on our pc of course we will go on using OWB Client 32 bit: are there compatibility problems?
    Thanks
    Silvio

    Hi Silvio,
is it correct to install Workflow on the new DB 11.1 using the software available in the home of OWB 11g software ?It is better to use Oracle Workflow from DB 11g.
is it guaranteed thet OWB 10gR2 installed on DB 11.1 will have no problems in using such installation of OWF ?As I know DB 11gR1 contains also 2.6.4 Workflow release, so you won't have any problem
    My second question is related to 32 bit vs 64 bit platform;
intuitively, we should install the 64 bit version of OWB 10gR2 (and OWF) on the new plaftorm hosting DB 11g:
is ita potential issue for the OWB repository migration ?IMHO it is not problem
on our pc of course we will go on using OWB Client 32 bit: are there compatibility problems? There are no any problem with 32bit OWB client and OWB repository on 64bit platform

  • Library Storage and backup, really need equipment and workflow information.

I have about 700 Gigs of files on three external hard drives, which are backed up to three more. My copy of Aperture arrived today, and, after reading the included booklet, I still don't understand the basic storage, backup and workflow structure of the program. Questions:
Does your library have to be stored on one disk, or can it be spread over several in a JBOD setup, or will I need a raid 0 or 5? I need to plan for a Library that will hold TBs if they have to be in one place. The manual says that the program works better with the library on an internal HD - will an external SATA do just as well? $499 for the program and $12,000 for an x-serve RAID? Seriously, can you keep all of your photos in one place?
Backup (vault): the manual mentions that you may have to move the vault when it exceeds the size of your external disk. Can it be spread out over several disks? Will it need a RAID as well?
I'm using C1Pro (currently in disfavor), PS CS2 (gets better every version) but was hoping for a better workflow and, yes, a way to organize my entire library and speed my workflow. Aperture looks great. Having said that, experience tells me that I will need PS a lot, and may want to do conversions outside of aperture on a regular basis. So, if I import the RAW files directly into Aperture, can I find them in the finder, or export the original RAW? HOW PLEASE? It doesn't make a lot of sense to examine them in Bridge before I decide which ones to Bring in to Aperture. Do I just have to make duplicates to HD or DVD of the original RAW files?
Is there a more detailed explanation of file handling. I have read the booklet, looked at help, checked the articles at Apple Support and read every thread in this forum. Did I just stupidly overlook something obvious?
I know this is a brand new program, but for a professional photographer's tool, someone should have anticipated these questions. Egads!, I just know it's there but I can't find it. I would really appreciate any help.

Does your library have to be stored on one disk, or
can it be spread over several in a JBOD setup, or
    will I need a raid 0 or 5?
I believe the library must be on one LOGICAL drive. This could be one physical drive, a JBOD configuration or a RAID 5. In anycase, it has to be one logical drive.
I need to plan for a
Library that will hold TBs if they have to be in one
    place.
Since you can specify the location of the library, you can store multiple libraries on multiple internal drives and switch between them. Hopefully, in future versions, Aperture will seamlessly support multiple libraries on different (and networked!) drives.
Backup (vault): the manual mentions that you may have
to move the vault when it exceeds the size of your
external disk. Can it be spread out over several
disks? Will it need a RAID as well?
Only if it is also a JBOD or a RAID configuration. You cannot span multiple logical drives.
    So, if I import the
RAW files directly into Aperture, can I find them in
the finder, or export the original RAW? HOW PLEASE?
Finding them in the Finder is not easy. Doable but not easy, as it is well hidden inside a package. Aperture actively discourages you from doing this. Can you imagine the havoc if someone deleted a raw file from the finder? Aperture (and all the xml files it creates) would be looking for missing files and this would lead to corrupted projects.
To export a RAW file out of the library:
File -> Export Master . This menu option will export the original raw file out of the library. Not sure why you would want to do that. If you want to edit it in Photoshop, select the image in Aperture and select Images -> Open with external editor. This will transfer the image into photoshop (assuming you have photoshop set up as your external editor). When you're done editing, save the image (just save, not save as). Close the image in photoshop and Aperture will automatically pickup the change.
Do I just have to make duplicates to HD or
DVD of the original RAW files?
You export the versions into a directory. Then you burn that directory and then delete it. So yes, it would appear that you are duplicating images for the purpose of burning. So you must have at least as much free space on your hard disk as the empty CD/DVD.

  • Workflow Agent Listener and Workflow Background Engine

    Hi all,
I try to update roles via User Management responsibility but when applying them it throws the following warning: "Updates to Role data will not be visible in the application until the following processes are started : Workflow Agent Listener and Workflow Background Engine". So, my question is via which responsibility i can submit those requests and is there anything else i should know before creating, update roles and assigning permissions to them?
    Thanks in advance,
    Alexander.

I checked the requests and i found that Workflow Background Engine completed successful. Only Open Period Balance finished with error but is it possible this to be the reason of the given warning? I believe not.
And pls kindly explain what exactly means "you may need to log a SR."? Create a Service Request (SR) in My Oracle Support website so you get a help from Oracle Support Engineer (assuming you have a valid CSI number and MOS account) -- https://support.oracle.com

  • MSS and workflow integration--Adobe forms

    Hi ,
Can anyone send me some links on Workflow integrartion with MSS . I am looking out for MSS integration with Adobe forms ..
    Regards
    Abhilash

    Hi Peter
This is probably more of a Forms question than workflow. At a very high level, in Apps, the workflow browser session is actually launched from a Forms session, some kind of socket connection is actually passed to the workflow session, so that when opening the new Form, it is opened in the existing applet.
    Cheers
    Mark
    Hi,
we are building an application with web-enabled Forms 9i and Workflow 2.6.2 on Oracle 9i - and have an integration issue.
We want to include a link to Oracle Forms within a workflow notification so that the user can go directly to a particular screen in our Forms application. Including a URL to our forms application will invoke a new Forms applet on the client, but can we go to a new form in a Forms applet that is already running?
I've seen others ask the question in the forums but haven't seen any definitive responses. Oracle eBusiness Suite seems to have something like this - does anyone know how it was done and is it possible in stand-alone Workflow?
Any info. would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Peter

  • Digimarc and workflow.

    Hello,
I have a question about Digimarc and worflow.
As I am beginning to post my work online in a recently created gallery I have chosen to place Digimarc digital watermarks on my images to add another layer of protection. I have some questions about workflow.
Most of my work is being done in Lightroom 5. Some of the images are edited in Photoshop CS 6 for other effects not available in Lightroom. Here is where I have a question:
After I do all the work I need to do in Lightroom (even when images are edited in Photoshop they are returned to Lightroom) I export the images as JPEG. I then have to open them in Photoshop CS 6 to embed the Digimarc digital watermark. In doing so I am forced to save the image again. In other words the image was compressed when I saved it as a JPEG the first time and is compressed yet again when I save it as a JPEG after I apply my Digimarc watermark. Can anyone think of a way to avoid this ? Is there a Digimarc plug-in for Lightroom that would allow me to avoid this last step ?
    Any ideas or suggestions ?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi David,
Workflow Task (Organizational object type WF) is Client dependant and the Workflow Template(Organizational object type WS) is Client independant.
Whereas the customer task(Organizational object type T ) is Client dependant and
Standard task (Organizational object type TS ) is Client independant.
Note : Workflow Task and customer task are Obsolete

  • HD capture and workflow - part II

Is it possible to capture HD footage to an interim external hard drive using FCE? That is, to back up taped footage from the HDR-HC7 onto a large (but not super-fast, so cheaper) drive that can later be used as input to a project? Can the footage be captured selectively (cf HD capture and workflow - part I)?
And could such a drive be used in the editing process without slowing things down unendurably? I'm using a G-RAID mini 200M for my editing now.
I accumulate tapes rapidly shooting underwater & would like to get the footage at least roughly organized expeditiously.
Thanks for any help & suggestions. Pls be real specific as I am a total novice!

sorry, tom - in your answer to my question "HD capture & workflow - part I" you said I COULD mark in & out points when capturing from tape. Is that what "doing it manually" means? And can I do that if my destination drive is the as yet unpurchased "large FireWire drive..."?
BTW what do I tell FCE - that this large drive is for "capture scratch"?
And later when I start up a project using the large drive as input, how do I tell FCE to load it up?
sorry to be so dense but the devil is in the details!

  • Question regarding battery and warranty

Hi all! I have a quick question about how and if my warranty applies to my battery. After about a year and a half of ownership (I have the three-year extended warranty), my battery has gone completely down the toilet. It wasn't a problem before, but this year I have to lug my T61p around a lot for lab work. My battery is now rated at... 39.75Wh when it shipped at 84.24Wh. This is a pretty drastic difference. In any case, I don't think that this is covered by warranty, but figured that I'd ask before I drop $180 on a new battery (ouch). And, speaking of, if my suspicions are correct, does anybody know where I might find a 9-cell battery for the T61p? All I'm seeing on Lenovo's website is the one for the N100... which doesn't... match very well. Yaknow.
    Thanks a lot!
    ThinkPad T61p [June 2008]: 2.5Ghz Penryn Core 2 Duo, 4GB DDR2 RAM, NVidia Quadro FX 570m 256MB, 160GB 7200RPM Fujitsu HDD, 1920x1200 WUXGA Matte LCD, Windows 7 RC1

Is either of these appropriate? I'm wary of the one on Amazon, as there are other (off-brand) batteries that are advertised as being Lenovo ones (though those generally sell for  a lower price). The other one just looks like I'll have to call up to buy it.
