Quicktime in the WEB: multiple movies in one player script?

I saw somewhere an example where you could change the movie of the player with links, without refreshing the page, using javascript.
Anyone with the complete script out there?

I am a just learning about putting QuickTime on the web.
Everything works fine on my G4. In an attempt to keep all of my clips on one page, I used code to open the video on the computer's QT application, not the QT plugin. Now those clips will not open on my school's PCs.The movies are self contained.
I used code suggested by David Egbert and the book, QuickTime for the Web.
I think part of the problem is the school's version of QT is 5.0, and I'm using 7.0.3.
Is there a "common denominator" for successful size and format for putting QT on he web?
Any suggestions?

what's the best video program to do when displaying movies on the web? I'm working with quicktime and most seem to have it. Or do they? What video program is the least likely to create problems with users?
Flash. If you're exporting Quicktime files you can export as h.264 that will play in Flash Player 9+
Use the JW player to play h.264 files in a flash player.

From the web page "Flexible video display options let you view synchronized QuickTime movies within the interface or on a separate monitor using output options like Digital Cinema Desktop."
Does that mean multiple QT movies in one session? I'd kill for that feature, PT has had it for years and it's a huge time saver. Anybody know?

Nope, looks like still only one movie per session. That's a big disappointment, especially after having to go back to Logic after being able to do it in other apps.

Can't play multiple movies in one window

I must be doing something wrong. I wanted to watch a series of video clips (all .mov) in quicktime, but not in 10 different windows. Isn't there a way to highlight 10 clips, and then "play all" and have them open up in one window? For some reason, every time I attempt this, I get 10 quicktime players opening up! I'd just like one at a time, and the ability to skip to through the movies like I would do in iTunes with music. I seem to remember doing this before, but now can't remember how. Any ideas?

The steps are correct but you've left out the one that adjusts the 2 through 9 movies position as compared to the others.
The first video would hold a position of 0,0 (upper left). When you add the second video you need to adjust its "offset" to position it next to but not overlapping the first. Since your videos are 100X75 you would set the offset of the second track too 100,0 (100 pixels to the right of the original and 0 pixels different in height). The third would be 200,0 offset.
On the second row your first file would be 0,75 (75 pixels below the upper video). The second file on the second row would be offset 100,75 and the third would be 200,75.
The third row would be 0,150 followed by 100,150 and 200,150.
You could add a slight "border" between each video and give it a color by using the bgcolor="your color" (standard html color codes) and adding that space by adjusting the offset plus your border width in pixels. Hollywood Squares style of video.
http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/03war/ one of my older files that uses multiple track video playback of a QuickTime file. The "TV" set is a track and the video that plays "inside" it is another. The still image movies are also separate tracks and QuickTime .mov files can hold up to 99 tracks.

Multiple movies in one window

what method do you recomend for playing 10 small movie clips in the same window? quicktime seems to want a player for each file? that would mean my page would be incredibly long with videos that could all play at the same time.... which I dont want. I would like to have a link that says 'link1' and then the movie 1 plays in the wondow... then I would like another link that says 'link2' and then the second movie plays in the SAME window that the first one did.

I would not recommend multiple players on the same page because of the likelyhood that mutliple players will eventually be running at the same time.... one player not turned off before second one starts, etc.... MUCH CONFUSION!!

this layout uses swfobject 1.5, so in addition to the "replay_player.swf'", you need the swfobject version 1.5 file. All available from the JW Player site.

Controlling multiple movies with one button

Hi flash gurus,
I have 4 movies of the same length running on my stage in the
FLV playback component, with different instance names. I also have
a single play/pause component. I want all of the movies to play
together and unpause/pause when I press the play/pause button.
However, I have only been able to get the play/pause button to
control one of the movies (the last one listed in the
actionscript). I'm using the following code to attach the
play/pause component to the FLV playback movie:
FLV_instance_name1.playPauseButton = PlayPause_instance_name
FLV_instance_name2.playPauseButton = PlayPause_instance_name
FLV_instance_name3.playPauseButton = PlayPause_instance_name
FLV_instance_name4.playPauseButton = PlayPause_instance_name
When I use this, the play/pause button only controls the
FLV_instance_name4 movie. How do I get it to control all 4 moives?

Burning multiple movies to one DVD

I want to burn 8 short movies to one DVD. Do I have to use a DVD RW or is there a way to burn all 8 to a DVD-R?

You probably only have a single-layer drive so you
will be limited to a maximum playing time of about
120 minutes in Best Quality mode. We recommend
Verbatim or Maxell DVD-R for single-layer discs.
BTW, iDVD compresses everything to mpg-2 so the
playing time of your content in minutes is the
important factor - the size of your original files in
MB doesn't come into play.

thanks for the tip on type of DVD, but my immediate problem is that when I burn to a DVD, I can only do one movie. I am looking for a way to select all of them vs 1 at a time. I tried the advanced & edit DVD contents but I still have the problem that the program will only burn one movie at a time & then because it is DVD-R, I can't add another. I need to be able to put all 8 on at once (or at least one after another). Is there a way to "combine" them for burning?

Prevent the dock to move from one screen to another.

I have two external monitors connected to my mac and every some time the dock moves to the bottom of screen one (where all my destop icoms are located) to monitor two (no icons). How I can fix this. I want my dock in the same place all the time.

System Preferences, Mssion Control, uncheck "Displays have separate Spaces".

Burning Multiple Movies to one DVD in Premiere Elements 7.0

I am compiling a series of movies which I shot of the first year of the lives of my grandchildren. Each is a separate movie, about 10 minutes long. I would like to burn all of them onto one DVD - how can I do that? The burning option seems to be available only for the movie open when I click on Share.

As Paul_LS states, the movies need to be combined in PE (or another editing program) due to the DVD-specs. They allow only one movie (in your case the combined Projects) per DVD disc. There are a few programs that can "hack" the DVD structure, but they are a lot of work, and usually do not yield the results that the user is seeking. This is not a limitation of PE.
You can also place your DVD Markers to the start of each of these movies, to all navigation in the DVD to each, should you wish.

Multiple movies in one DPS article

Hello,
I have two short videos on two separate pages of a dps article (pages 1 and 5).They are set to play automatically on page load and stop on their last frames. When I return to the first video page, it has reverted to it's poster image. The second video page remains on the final image of the video, which is what I want it to do. This is true whichever of the two videos is played first; this is the one that reverts to the static poster image, the one played second remains on the final frame.
Grateful for any ideas/ suggestions.

Multiple Movies on one page.

Hello All.
I a doing a keynote presentation which will be fairly interactive. The plan is to show some of our work off on one page, so maybe 6 videos on one page.
I have got it so they they start individually a click each time and i have made it so i can use the mouse but I don't want them to play in a particular order I will be showing people in small groups and showing them what's more suited to them.
So what I want to do is be able to have it so I can just use the mouse and go to any movie and play it, at the moment i have to let it play by the one click method to get the controls to do anything with it and so they have to play in order.
I have look everywhere so any help at all will be helpful!

If you place a Button or Click Box object on the slide it should stay put until the user clicks it. (Well, it will as long as you configure the Slidelet as "Click to stick".)

Playing multiple movie clips one after other on main timeline

Excuse the probably simple question but I'm just starting off with Flash.
I have imported a few video trailers directly into flash and saved them as movie clips.
I want to be able to insert these movie clips onto the main timeline and play them one after the other, repeating once they have all played.
On the main timeline I have set a layer for each clip and a keyframe where the clip is inserted for each layer.
When I go to play the flash file, it is showing the first frame from each movie file and then moving to the first frame of the next movie file.
What do I need to do to make flash play the entire movie file in that specific frame before moving to the next frame where the next movie file is and playing all that movie?

Create an actions layer on the main timeline and place stop(); commands on that layer in each frame where a movieclip resides.
Within in each movieclip, at the end (last frame) you want to tell the main timeline to play(); so that it moves to the next frame (where it will stop because of the stop() commands you add).
So at the end of each movieclip you will put either:
for AS2: _parent.nextFrame();
for AS3: MovieClip(parent).nextFrame();
For the last movieclip in the lineup you will replace nextFrame() with gotoAndStop(1);

Multiple movies in one imovie file?

i've imported video from vhs into imovie, over 4 hours of footage. i made a movie file of an hour length, and am exporting it to idvd.
can i go back into my imovie file and make another movie, with the next group of clips? perhaps as a save as?? without copying all the video files again...
i just want to make 4 or 5 dvds with separate files from all the clips i brought into this imovie file.
or...? ideas? thanks!
