Quicktime movies don't show in browser
Was having trouble with quicktime movies playing in Safari and Firefox. Each time I got the broken Q, I would restart the computer and it would work for a while. Upgraded to OS X(10.5) in hopes that might help. It didn't. No matter what I do no Quicktime in browser or a places like myspace. Any ideas?

Forms 11g with Webutil don´t show in browser IE 9
Hi people,
I have a problem with Webutil. I installed th Oracle Forms/Reports 11g in Red Hat 5.5 x86_64, and when is necessary run a pure Forms, it´s works.
Now, when I will try run a Forms with Webutil, don´t show in browser IE 9 - Win 7 64bits - Java Plug-in 1.6.0_25 Using JRE version 1.6.0_25-b04 Java HotSpot(TM) Client.
What can be to show only a gray screen and dont show my Forms ? In java console don´t showed any error, neither in WLS_FORMS.log and forms-diagnost.log.

1. The JRE crashed after startup. Many times, but not always, if such a crash occurs it will leave a JRE dump file on the desktop. Its content may help to identify the cause.
2. The Forms runtime crashed at startup. Many times, but not always, a Forms dump file will be created on the server. Its content may help to identify the cause.
3. The Forms runtime was unable to start at all. This can occur on unix systems when/if there is a resource or permissions issue. One of the more common causes is if the file descriptor (nofiles) value is set too low.
4. The applet is actually running, but has attempted to display a dialog box and is awaiting your acknowledgement, but the box was wrongfully sent to the background behind the browser. A similar issue was reported in one of the JRE 1.6.0_xx series, however I don't recall which one. Uninstall your current version and install the latest which is 1.6.0_27
There are other possibilities, but these are most common.
I would recommend the following:
1. Uninstall any JRE older than 1.6.0_27. Reboot. Install 1.6.0_27
2. Set networkRetries=5 in formsweb.cfg
3. Set FORMS_TIMEOUT to 15 (default). Setting to a high value as you have is not recommended and is rarely necessary.
4. Verify that the test form works. For example:

5. It appears that you are trying to use WU_TEST_106.fmx. Instead, download an updated version of this file (the name has also changed)

6. Ensure that you have compiled webutil.pll into .plx. Do not use an old version of this file. The installation will include one. If not, check for it in an installation that also includes the Builders. -
Why WMV QuickTime movies don't play?
Through e-mail I often receive WMV QuickTime movies. However they don't play in QuickTime even though I have QuickTime Pro installed. In order to watch them I resort to use Windows Media Player. I thought that QuickTime was an Apple product and QuickTime movies should play with it.

It is and they do. However, WMV is a proprietary product originated by Microsoft to replace their aging AVI file container about a decade ago. It is not a QT format and since it is proprietary is copyrighted so Apple cannot legally use their codecs. As to WMP, it is Microsoft's own player application and is showing it's age since Microsoft officially dropped all Mac support back in 2003. Flip4Mac now handles distribution of the current "universal" version of the QT component which allows most common WMV variants to be played in the QT player. If you wish to watch your videos in the QT Player, then you must download the Flip4Mac QT playback component which is free. However, if you wish to be able to convert WMV files to QT compatible files, then you must purchase additional components with Conversion from WMV to QT, Conversion QT to WMV, and Conversion of HD content each have their own price tier. -
Old quicktime movies don't play, missing "fade in" file
When I try and open a quicktime movie that I created in imovie it tells me, it can't play movie because it's missing "fade in 04 file".
It makes me try and locate it but I can't find it.How would you suggest saving project files for make DVDs later?
Usually the easiest is to simply keep the iMovie project. Buying an external hard disk helps make that possible.
Another method is to export back to the camera, then re-import the tape as needed. That will preserve most clips as clips. You won't be able to edit things like titles, however.
If the project will fit an a DVD, then burning the project directly to a DVD as a data file -- not going through iDVD -- lets you archive it in its original condition. When you want to use it again, you'll drag it back to your hard disk.
Exporting to a Full Quality movie works, but you lose the ability to edit the video without re-importing it to iMovie, and you lose the "clip-ness" of clips. It's an option to consider if it saves a lot of disk space, where the timeline movie is a lot shorter than the project audio and video. If the project doesn't use a lot of the video you imported, then exporting to a Full Quality movie may save considerable disk space.

Br CS5: HD's don't show in "Browse files/folder" window when trying to "copy to" or "move to"
Yesterday I copy/moved a number of files and folders using Bridge CS5 (something I've done frequently for years, and never a problem) - and now today the "browse files/folders window" would not show the C drive and the other drives within that tree. The process normally is as follows right click a file or folder then the following... copy to/choose folder/browse files and folders. The C-drive and it's related drives fails to show...only the Desktop and my "computer user name". I tried doing a reset with Bridge...nothing changes. Any help appreciated. (Related - I tried backing up my LR catalog to a new location...and my C drive tree wouldn't show there as well)
I suspect generating the directory tree is a function of the OS and not Adobe. If you open Windows Explorer is erveything OK?
There was a post a number of months ago that was similar to yours, will see if I can find it.
Do you use the Library or do you have pics in folders?
The Window's Llbrary function can cause access problems. -
Question Mark in Safari, Quicktime , Movies don't play, Mime settings
I get a question mark in QT, using Safari, and latest updates, while trying to play movies. I notice the QT preferences will not stay when I close preferences, especially mime settings. I tried re-install, tried latest updates, throwing away preferences files in User/Library/preferences. What's wrong. You would think that QT would work, but QT only works in Opera.

If you have no problems w/playing QT files while using Opera, then the problem could be w/Safari. You may wish to crosspost in the Safari Forums where the Safari users hang out so that they can see your issue & can possibly help you out. Sorry, I don't use that particular browser.
See if cleaning out the cache helps. That is the one thing I always here Safari users complain about.
Check QT Preferences>Advance.
Make sure "Enable Flash" is unchecked (disabled)
As for the QT MIME Settings not sticking, see if repairing permissions from your Tiger DVD helps. -
Iweb podcast (quicktime movie) doesn't show for pcs
Can somebody please tell me how I can make my website have videos that windows people can see? I exported a movie from imove using the web setting...then dragged it into the correct spot in my iweb. On the mac, it is a bit slow (have hi speed cable and it is 5.1mb file) but doable it appears. On my pc however, it plays the sound, but no picture. (side note, I posted a .mov on my idisk for people to share, and the pc said, nope sorry, need some more stuff from quicktime that isn't offered for me to play)

Without checking your site, my guess is that your QT video is encoded with the latest and greatest video codec H.264. This is now the "default" on most applications from Apple. This codec is great, but it does require QuickTime 7 in order to decode. Your PC users either don't have QuickTime installed at all or they have an older version and need to update (it's free!) to QuickTime 7.
Your other options include re-encoding your video using a more mundane MPEG-4 video codec (compatible with earlier QT versions) or going to a more platform agnostic format such as Flash video.
In iMovie, when you do the export, check under the custom or advanced settings and you should be able to change the codec to MPEG-4. -
Quicktime controls don't load in browser
I have just uploaded my website to my server but when I check it on my browser the quicktime music player doesn't appear as it used to. A gray box appears where the player used to appear which when you click on it, it brings up the player but if you're new to the site you wouldn't know to do that. The player it brings up looks like a new design so I'm wondering if the thing has been upgraded but they forgot to make it iweb friendly or something. Anyone any ideas???

It's not even an iWeb issue , since iWeb doesn't care about audio or video controllers.

The QT Controller? The HTML5 controller or the JavaScript controller.
It also depends on which browser you use.
I also get different controllers when I disable flash with ClickToFlash which then uses the HTML5 controller to play the videos/audios. -
I have a mac mini that I use my itunes on. Purchased content shows up fine on the itunes library, movies, tv shows and music. I have linked my apple tv to it. When I check my computer library via the apple tv many of the movies, music and tv shows are missing. How can I fix this?

Quicktime movie don't play automatically????
It used to be that when you open a movie after a few seconds of downloading it will start palying automatically but it does not happen with iWeb. I loaded the same movie into my new web page that I made with iWeb and you have to click on the start in order for the movie to play.
Anybody know why this is happening?

You must save the file with exactly the same name and avoid adding .txt to the file name.
If your page shows as text (lines of page code visible) I'll bet the file ends in .txt (something.html.txt). Remove the .txt from the file name and it should work. -
My rented movies don't show up after watching (within the 24 hour window) them in Apple TV
I have updated my Apple TV. Since then I'm unable to retrieve rented movies after watch parts of them in the 24 hour viewing window. Anyone have any ideas?

A number of people have reported similar issues recently, many appear to have found a discrepancy of some kind in their account settings and making changes to these settings or simply resetting them has resolved the matter.
Check your account details are correct, check that you are using the correct details for Location, Region and Time Zone. You may want to change these settings and then change them back to see if that helps.
Also check your payment details, make sure your details are exactly how they appear on your credit card statement, you might also try changing some of those details, saving them and changing them back again.
You might also try logging out of and then back into your iTunes account (Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID’s > Sign Out) and restarting your router. (Some have reported that after doing this, they need to check for rentals even though it may report that there aren’t any, after which rentals once again appear in the ‘movies’ feature)
Rentals should appear under their own heading in the ‘Movies’ feature, you might also check at Settings > iTunes Store > Check For Rentals.
At this point in time, I’m wondering if this could be related to (but not restricted to) the new feature that allows others to come into your home and use your Apple TV to download and play their content on your Apple TV without logging into their account on your Apple TV. The Terms of Use for iTunes Store content have always been to require you to only purchase and play the content from the store in the location where you live and to use a credit card registered in that location. Previously Apple seem to have been somewhat lenient on enforcing such restrictions, perhaps now they are not. However I don’t really have any evidence to support this suggestion, except that changes made to accounts in these areas do appear to be helping many.
If you are successful in resolving your problem, perhaps you would let us know exactly which action resolved the problem for you. If you are having this problem to begin with, can you also tell us your location. -
After installed DMO of Campus, installing SYS , data mover don't show PeopleSoft HRCS Database
Hello every one, I've made the installation of PeopleSoft Campus (DMO) instance and it's running right now. After that I began the installation of the SYS instance, using the same servers: Oracle Linux (database), Oracle Linux (Application Server), Windows Server (1 machine) for Installation & Crystal Reports.
I created a new database named HRMS9SYS without errors.
Now its time to work with Data Mover. The first task is to use de database Wizard.
Select target database ORACLE
database type UNICODE
character set AL32UTF8
And in the next step Peoplesoft Applications to Add

Theese are the same files with wich I installed the DMO instance...Yagu,
1) Be sure the PS_APP_HOME variable is pointing to the right directory where HCM has been installed (check within ConfManager/Profile (Default)/Edit/ProcessScheduler tab).
2) Be sure you checked the "Peoplesoft HCM Database" checkbox during the application installation. Open the log file HCM_InstallLog.log in the directory where you installed the application.
You may have something like this:
CHOSEN_FEATURE_LIST=PeopleSoft HCM Demo Database
CHOSEN_INSTALL_FEATURE_LIST=PeopleSoft HCM Demo Database
CHOSEN_INSTALL_SET=
=> this means only Demo is installed and you cannot go for something else (except for Peopletools system database which you don't want).
If you have a long list of features, be sure there is something like this :

I tested it, if PeopleSoft HCM Database is unchecked during installation (and consequenty not in the feature list in the logfile), there's no option to install a SYS database later on.
If this is the case, you may want to reinstall the appl in the same directory. I do not think it will hurt.

Imported movie clips don't show up
I synced some photos and movie clips with my iphone and the movies don't show up. Do I need to convert them somehow?

Editing with FCP 7
When I export the sequence I edited with quicktime, the playback video is very different from what I edited on the timeline. The playback has the clips with ins and outs that are way off than what I cut, and some of the clips don't show at all or have changed transitions. However when I play in the timeline in FCP, the sequence is fine, just the way I cut it.
The source of the clips was one long .mov that I cut into clips for the timeline. Everything has gone smoothly but the exported .mov is just so different.
How can I get the time codes of the clips to be the same in the exported .movs? I just want the quicktime .mov to represent my edit exactly.
This video is due tomorrow - if the solution is too time consuming, can I play within the FCP player window and Log and Capture?

MVWhat is your source material? Is it H.264? FCP does not work correctly with that material.
Click on a source clip in the FCP Browser, and once selected, type Command + 9 to see the item properties for the clip. Either report those properties, or take a screen shot of the item properties, and post that here.
Next, click anywhere in your timeline, and then type Command + 0 {zero} to see your Sequence Settings. Either report those Sequence Settings, or take a screen shot of the Sequence Settings and post that here.

When I upgraded to Mavericks the cover flow or the preview pane in finder don't show a thumbnail of an uncompressed quicktime movie. I use this to search for the correct clip so it was very useful in prior versions of OS X but appears to be left off in Mavericks. If anyone knows a work around I would appreciate it since I work with thousands of video clips. To click each one seems very tedious.
Also, when I click on an uncompressed video, quicktime "converts" the video to some different format. Why doesn't it just play the video instead of converting? Is there a way to stop this? I hate have to say - no I don't want to save this file.
Arrgh!Does anyone in the community have insite into this issue (same with animation compressed QT's). Is this just the way it is moving forward (a terrible thing) or is it a bug that will be fixed in the near future. Apples silince on if this is a "feature" or a "bug" is frustrating.
