Quite confused

i read sun's doc JDWP then to its detail on page
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/jpda/jdwp/jdwp-protocol.html
there 2 tech words on the page which made me quite confused, i can not find definition anywhere about them.
Q1. Out Data
does it mean data from debug to java?
is "out data" in <command set>, <command> or <data> field?
why are there multiple None as value of "out data" (i.e. in <version> and <AllThreads Command>)?
Q2. Reply Data
confused as Q1.
could some experts explain it for me?
thx

I didnt look at the documentation so dont trust me on this.. but maybe I'm right..
As you probably know, JDWP is a packet based stateless protocol.
The request contains the out-data
The response contains the reply-data.
The JDWP packet contains: ID, cmd_set, cmd etc..
The data is comes after that common header and contains object IDs, modifiers etc..

  • Using the new Photos app on multiple devices - confusion!

    I find the recent way ios/Photos handles photos quite confusing. I am not too concerned about not having a Camera Roll, but seeing how not having this creates strange behavior when editing/deleting photos, I can see how the Camera Roll is definitely necessary or the whole thing needs revamped to handle things better.
    Here's my set up:
    iMac with iPhoto
    iPhone 5s with the new Photos app
    iPad Mini with the new Photos app
    The one things I DO like is that whenever I take a photo (or upload in the case of my iMac), the photo is duplicated across all devices. That means I could take a photo on my iPhone and then edit it on my iPad Mini which has a bigger screen. (Well, so I thought..but read below.) Yes, you could do this with Photo Stream, but having all photos in one place is a bit easier to remember and find. I also like that when I delete the photo on the device that I took it on, all photos on the other two devices are also deleted. Easy. Thanks.
    But that is where the ease of use ends.
    If I delete the photo on any other two devices (i.e. the devices that I did NOT take the photo on), it only deletes on the devices which I didn't take the photo on. In other words, it leaves the photo on the device which I originally took the photo on.
    To add to the confusion... if I edit the original photo, the edits do not get duplicated to the other devices! I see the original photo on the devices with which I did NOT take the photo but the edited one is on the original device I took it on.
    Let's add even MORE confusion....if I want to edit the photo on a device it was not taken on, I then get a notice that it has to be Duplicated before I can edit it. Well, okay, I do that and then edit it. However, I now have the original showing up twice on the device it was originally taken on...the original photo and the now duplicated photo--it's the EXACT same photo since no edits get carried over from the other device.
    I believe all of this is because of what happened when ios 9 combined the functions of the Camera Roll and Photo Stream together. It exhibits both behaviors but since you cannot be sure which photo was taken on which device, you have less understanding what will happen when you try to delete a photo or edit it.
    Here's the key headache....What happens if I want to make sure a photo is deleted from ALL my devices and I don't remember which device I took the photo on? I will have to check every device just to be sure! I can't even open up iPhoto on my Mac and delete it from the Photo Stream album because it will remain on the original device. So, I have to check all devices and also iPhoto on my Mac for good measure in case I actually uploaded a photo there--which I do since I am scanning in old photos.
    Key headache #2...you end up with duplicates of the photo if you edit the photo on any device on which it was not taken on. You also get different versions of the photo. You end up not knowing which photo was the original. To be sure to have all edited photos eventually on you iMac, you'll need to sync all devices physically to iPhoto.
    Who has time to track all this?
    What should happen is this...all of the photos, including their edits, should sync exactly on all devices. My Recently Added should look exactly the same across all devices and carry over any edits...now that is what I would call Continuity and Handoff! But as it stands, we don't have anything close to this...is more like Pandemonium and MixUp!
    This is really a mess and way too confusing to keep track of. I can only hope this get resolved when Photos on the Mac is released.

    Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
    If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
    Install the App from the App Store.
    Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
    One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
    iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • Confusion about third-party-libraries in different versions in CE 71.

    Hi
    After some research on the use of different versions of third-party-libraries in SAP netweaver CE 7.1, I am actually quite confused and would be happy if someone could shed a light on that subject....
    1. Is there a way to tell netweaver CE 7.1 to use a library in my WEB-INFlib-folder by simple configuration?
    E.g. we would like to use a third-party-lib in a newer version than the one which is loaded by CE 7.1. Many application server provide a simple configuration option (e.g inside META-INFapplication.xml) where the web as can be forced to use the library inside WEB-INFlib for this application.
    2.Is the concept of "heavy loading" described in a blog by Georgi Danov(Using Hibernate in SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment) the answer to question 1.?
    Does it also work for other third-party-libraries than hibernate? Does it work at all?
    3. In the blog mentioned in question 2, Mr. Danov is talking about "shared libraries". Does this mean, that I have to forget everything about "bundled" and "standard" libraries explained in help.sap.com/CE, if I want to create a heavy loader?
    He is referencing another blog (Applications and shared libraries) which is two years old? Can I still apply the information there to CE?
    4. Are "Bundled libraries" applicable when using different versions of third-party-libraries in CE 7.1?
    In "Working with libraries" (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/44/f4e00e56ec0486e10000000a155369/frameset.htm) it says:
    "Bundled libraries: These provide resources only to a single enterprise application, and are packed inside the application's EAR file."
    =>As I want to provide the lib only to my enterprise application, I will probably have to create a bundled library, right? Does this also work if netweaver CE 7.1 uses a different version of the same library?
    5. Do I need Netweaver Developer Studio for creating "bundled" libraries?
    Or can I copy the binaries in the WEB-INFlib-folder of my application, deploy it and use it?
    6. Is configuration of application-j2ee-engine.xml the right place to reference a third-party-library in a specific version which exists in WEB-INF/lib-folder in my application even if it exists also in another version on netweaver?
    => In the document "Troubleshooting: Finding Missing Parent-Child Relations" it says: "To implement the chain of parent-child relations in the deployment descriptor of the component, use either application-j2ee-engine.xml (for applications) or provider.xml (for libraries and services)."
    => "Creating standard libraries" (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/44/f447a8d62b0484e10000000a155369/frameset.htm9 tells me, that I have to configure the file application-j2ee-engine.xml, too.
    => But in "Working with libraries" (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/44/f4e00e56ec0486e10000000a155369/frameset.htm) it says:
    "Standard libraries: These provide resources to all enterprise applications deployed on the server. They are packed in EAR files like the enterprise applications."
    => Does this mean, that I have to force Netweaver CE 7.1 to use a higher version of a certain third-party-library? Does this even work? Do all applications deployed on Netweaver 7.1 have to use this library in the higher version?
    It is really confusing to read through the documentation!!! Sorry for that avalanche of questions, but I really hope it will make the issue of using libraries (especially if they exist in different versions on the CE 7.1) a little clearer!
    Best regards
    Bettina

    Hi Bettina,
    I'll try to answer your questions:

    First of all, the appropriate docs are here: [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/44/f4e00e56ec0486e10000000a155369/frameset.htm|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/44/f4e00e56ec0486e10000000a155369/frameset.htm].
    Basically what you do is define a lib project in the studio and deploy it do the server. This may be less comfortable then just configuring manually, therefore it work better in larger environments because the server checks that libs are available in all running instances - which it could not do if you manipulate diretories manually  (an approach you should never attempt in any SAP envrionment)

    If Georgi describes it, I hope so, as he is one of our developers who knows best.

    "shared" are all of theses libs, as otherwise they would be specific to an application.

    This was about anearly version of CE and even Georgi updated the blog this year to talk about slight differences. So yes, this still applies.

    >
    That depends... Your application uses it's own classloader which means it should only use your libs in case there is another version available on the server. But if you're trying to deploy a lib that is used by a service of the server (int that case loaded by the server not your classloader!) I'm not so sure.

    You need the Studio. No way around that. [Edit:] Sorry, misunderstood you here: I thought you want to copy something into the deployed directory on the server! - Of course, any deployment method would do it and though copying binaries seems to be valid. However,  I'm checking this currently with development in detail.

  • Confusion about BPM suite and BPA suite

    Hi,
    I'm very very new to Oracle BPM.
    I just checked the website and found Oracle provides two suites - BPM and BPA for business process management. I'm quite confused what's the difference of their usage? It looks to me that they are very similar to each other in functional.
    Is there any article that has already explained their difference?
    btw: if i want to choose a suite just for modeling, implementation and monitoring purpose, does that mean a BPM suite is more suitable?
    Thank you
    Lesley

    Hi Lesley,
    BPA is an robust process modeling tool used by business analysts to model both their processes and the entire enterprise. BPA has many different types of diagrams that let you see the different levels of decomposition and abstraction. As you'd exect, BPA has a robust process simulation capability. If you hit the BPA forum (Business Process Analysis Suite you'll get more information about it from experts in BPA.
    Oracle BPM was built and architected from the beginning as full life cycle Business Process Management (BPM) tool. It is similar to BPA in that it supports process modeling, documentation and simulation. I use the same diagram to explain the process to executives, managers, IT, SME and business analysts. As a business analyst, the tool is not complicated and can be learned in just a couple hours.
    Here's where the two differ. Oracle BPM was architected from the beginning as a full featured Business Process Management tool that implements and monitors business processes. Its capabilities include:
    <li> Logic - BPA is not a BPM tool so it is not intended to support the process logic needed for runtime. To support this, Oracle BPEL is used in conjunction with BPA. As a developer using Oracle BPM, I use templates and drag and drop to create much of my logic. Once I catalog an object it can be reused across multiple projects either by using the Project Dependency option or by importing the artifacts. I test my logic either by using the method editor debugger or at the process level. As I create objects used in my logic using Oracle BPM, I inherit attributes provided by introspected components. This means that if you have an ERP system object with 138 attributes, you do not have to rebuild this object from scratch in Oracle BPM.
    <li> Runtime / Execute the Business Processes - End users interact with the processes at runtime using an OOTB Workspace. End users are given various roles. When they log into the Workspace, the end users only see the work item instances that are in the roles that they have been assigned. There is an Engine that stores the work item instance information as it flows through the processes at runtime. The Engine is like a traffic cop, ensuring that the right work item instance goes to the right person in the right activity at the right time.
    <li> UI - The End user interface screens and complex end user interaction with a variety of screens can be built inside the Oracle BPM toolset's editor. The forms you build are automatically presented to end users in the Workspace.
    <li> Integration to Existing IT Assets - Oracle BPM can expose and consume IT components directly or through a service bus. Once consumed, the components can be used by any process needing to invoke them at runtime.
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

  • ECC WMS vs  Decentralized-WMS vs  SCM - Extended-WMS.  Confusing SAP Strat

    Have a Question ... pertaining to SCM-EWM = Extended Warehouse Management Functionality in SCM.
    I am raising this under SCM out of not sure which Forum this belongs to.
    I knew  WMS  Functionality that is part of erstwhile  R3 4.6, 4.7 and now  ECC 6  Releases.
    Back in 2003-2004 also came  "Decentralized WMS" which was the same thing, but WMS implemented
    on a Separate Server integrated to R3 via IDOCs/BDOCs.   It had additional functionality of  TRM (Task & Resource Mngt)
    which I know as my team has implemented in my earlier job as SCM Manager.   At that time there was no WMS inside of  SCM  (primarily APO).
    I am now quite confused with the  "Extended WM" functionality that has come as part of  SCM  along with APO.
    -  What is the reason for coining EWM ?  Architecture seems similar to D-WMS.   Is this meant to be a 'Replacement' for D-WMS  ?
    -  I am reading this EWM having functionality similar to  D-WMS  (eg : TRM, Cross Docking, RFID) ... so it
       appears to be the same ... except now I am reading it has functionality called  'Slotting', 'Rearrangement',
    'Transportation Cross Docking",  "EH&S Integration" ... all honestly very confusing to me.
    -  Is it that SAP will now do all the Latest Developments around WM only in the  "EWM" module & slowly phase out WMS in ECC ?
    Thought someone might know.  This confuses me a lot & I as Head SCM am unable to give the Right Opinion to our Customers on where to head for Warehouse Management.
    Regards,
    Ambrish Mathur

    Thanks for responding. But please bear with me for the confusion that still exists.
    If I am looking to recommend to a Large Customer who is in Manufacturing or Consumer Products or Automotive/Service Parts or Pharmaceutical Domain who typically Manufacture Finished Goods Inhouse and then Distribute it from Mfg. Plants to Regional Warehouses to Local Warehouses in a Country or across countries to sell to some Distributor or Retail Store for selling it to the Consumers. In such an Environment most of the Warehouses need to be WMS Managed - particularly big ones where RF Automation is also needed. Some even track Handling Units and need to Track Plant Batches so usually Implement HUM / SUM and Batch Management along with WMS to allow Pallet Tracking.
    If I were to recommend to such customers which WMS to choose for their SAP Landscape, it is a Confusion of Giant Proportions esp. when deciding between Decentralized WMS Server (i.e : WMS not in ECC but in a separate R/3 which was primarily given by SAP to avoid Performance Issues in the Core Operations in ECC - Batch Management, HUM & WMS can be very Performance Intensive) or use the SCM-EWM Functionality. I want to give a Recommendation that is Futuristic. Why does SAP need to keep both - D-WMS as well as SCM-EWM ?
    Bear in mind that EWM is different in Terminologies from D-WMS or ECC-WMS in the sense that the "Transfer Orders" in ECC or D-WMS and they are called as "Warehouse Orders" in SCM-EWM so have different SAP Trainings . In both 'Deliveries' for Sales/POs/STOs get "Distributed" from the Executional ECC System to the EWM/D-WM system to manage Warehouse Picking, Putaway & eventually GI / GR. D-WMS exchanges information with Central ECC Orders via Middleware which is IDOC/BDOC based while I am not sure if EWM uses CIF of SCM or has a different Interface with ECC.
    D-WMS & SCM-EWM both run in a Decentralized Fashion to take care of Performance Issues with implementing WMS in the Integrated ECC Environment which I do not recommend for Companies wanting to implement a Lot of WMS.
    So the Confusion very much exists between what to recommend between D-WMS & SCM-EWM to a Customer like above with a Futuristic Outlook in mind. It does not make sense for SAP to keep both.
    What do you recommend for above-like Customers ?
    Where do SCM-EWM Trainings happen (seem to be still not common) ... can you refer me ? I cannot see them in the India/Asia SAP Training syllabus.
    I want expert help to make a recommendation.

    Ambrish Mathur

  • A very confusing 70-466 Exam question

    Hi
    I have this question that I am quite confused.
    The question is
    You are developing a SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) cube. You need to reuse a Revenue measure group from a differentdatabase. In SQL server data tools (SSDT), which three actions should you perform in sequence?
    the part that I am confused is the choice between
    'From the select Objects step, select the Revenue measure group and dimensions that you need to link'
    or
    'From the select Objects step, select the Revenue measure group that you need to link'
    I have someone saying that the first one is the answer. But I think the latter is the answer. I went to the cube and tried it myself and there is no option to select 'dimensions'. Dimensions are not listed.
    I see Measure Groups, Actions and KPIs but not dimensions. Related dimensions are automatically imported with selected measures. Am I wrong?

    Yep. You need to import the required measure group with  related dimensions. The Related dimensions will get automatically imported.
    Also because its another database you need to have datasource defined for that and also the required tables selected in data source view.
    Please Mark This As Answer if it helps to solve the issue Visakh ---------------------------- http://visakhm.blogspot.com/ https://www.facebook.com/VmBlogs

  • Confusing about Message filter and Content filter

    I have a message filter do quarantine action:
    badbody: if body-dictionary-match("badbody", 1) {
    quarantine ("Policy");
    deliver();
    also I write a content filter 'good' to see what spams are missed by Ironport Antispam:
    Conditions (only if all conditions match):
    header("X-IronPort-Quarantine") != "^Policy$"
    header("X-Spam-flag") != "^(?i)YES$"
    Action:
    duplicate-quarantine ("good")
    deliver()
    I think these two rules could not occur both, because the filter badbody had sent the spam to quarantine 'Policy',
    there's no possible to dumplicate to qurantine 'good'.
    But it happens:

    The original message was marked to go to the "Policy" system quarantine via the message filter. However, that message continues through the email pipeline. If no other action affects that message(i.e. dropped by Sophos anti-virus), then the system will move the message to the "Policy" quarantine as originally marked.
    However, in your case, the message was marked to be sent to the "Policy" system quarantine, and then it matched your content filter and did two things:
    1. spawned a copy of the original message and sent this new one to the "good" system quarantine. (see MID 10698528)
    2. the original copy was left alone and this one was sent to the "Policy" quarantine. If you had a drop() action, then it would have gotten dropped and you would have been left with the single copy from #1 (see MID 10698519)
    What was the intended behavior you were trying to achieve?
    Here are some references that may help:
    1. Where can I see a diagram of the IronPort email pipeline?
    You can find a diagram of the queue sequence if you click on the Help
    link in the top right of the web interface - it takes a while for it to
    load. Find the section "Understanding the Email Pipeline" and then
    under that "Overview: Email Pipeline".

  • Confused about the clock

    I've had my Style for just over a week and love it - but find myself quite confused today.  I don't recall changing any options - but as of this morning - the clock stays on ALL the time.  It used to fade out completely - now it only fades a little (and it brightens up when I pick it up.)  Obviously, I somehow changed something - but I have no idea what.  It is actually a little easier to have the clock always on - but I would really like to know how that happened.  Thanks in advance for your help.

    That is how mine worked for the first week - but now it is on all the time.  It is actually nice to just see the time (since I stopped wearing watches when I got my first cell) - so I'm not complaining - but I would like to know how to change it back and forth.

  • SLD confusion

    Hi there,
    i am working with XI and service pack 13. We have two landscapes:
    1. Development (DEV): Third Party System <-> XI <-> R/3
    2. Production (PROD): Third Party System <-> XI <-> R/3
    Questions:
    1. Since service pack 13 a new entry in mainining the SLD is available: System Landscapes
    (View and configure groups of systems)
    I thought a SLD is installed automatically with the XI installation. What is that option good for???
    2. As you can see we have a tradional two SAP-system landscape with an development and an production system. And so we have two XI systems with own SLDs. Can I transport SLD DEV entries to the SLD PROD?? Does it make sense at all? On the one hand the technical systems are different but on the other hand the name of the business systems must be equal.
    I am quite confused. Thanks for any help in advance
    Christian

    Hi Christian
    what i think you can have only 1 SLD, and then you could use the grouping mechanism, which creates a linking between your diif business systems.

  • Back To Basics- Confused.

    Hi everyone ive just joined, and im a java Dummy.
    Wonder if someone can help me.
    Im trying to make a program that will connect to an access database, and it will also be using RMI so i can access the database remotely.
    The RMI part is ok i think can do that its just the whole JDBC Driver thing thats confusing and concerning me.
    * I have the JAVA 2 SDK 1.4.1 Standard edition installed on my PC.
    I was reading the Java Doc and it said I need a JDBC Driver. But it also says that in my SDK the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver is included.
    So i thought, oh thats good then maybe that means i dont need to download a driver.
    So i tried to run a sample program given in the DOCS.
    Upon compilation of the Program I got the error:
    "SimpleSelect.Java uses or overrides a depricated API"
    OK thats lost me.
    So i ran it anyway to see what happens,
    and i got the error:
    "Data source name not found and no default driver specified"
    I think the Data source bit is ok i jus have to like change the URL for the database, but the 'no default driver specified' bit concerned me, and makes me think, actually Do i have to download a JDBC driver as well?
    Below is a few lines of the program i tried to run
    import java.net.URL;
    import java.sql.*;
    class SimpleSelect {
    public static void main (String args[]) {
         String url = "jdbc:odbc:TicketingDatabase";
         String query = "SELECT * FROM Table1";
         try {
              // Load the jdbc-odbc bridge driver
              Class.forName ("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
              DriverManager.setLogStream(System.out);
              // Attempt to connect to a driver. Each one
              // of the registered drivers will be loaded until
              // one is found that can process this URL
              Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection (
                   url, "my-user", "my-passwd");
    Its a sample program not mine.
    Because as u can see it loads the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver, i thought thats the driver bit sorted.
    and then below when the connection is established it looks at the registered drivers. But i did not register any, i dont have any to register.
    I must seam real dumb! but ok so now do i have to go and download a driver?
    If so, this is for a university project and I cant buy one. Is there a free one? like one from SUN?
    Any input is appreciated, as i am quite confused!!! and a major Java Novice.
    Thanks a lot !
    Ahms83

    Yes, that URL is exactly right.
    Sorry, I didn't write something that was as good as it should be. If you look at the code, you'll see that it expects to see a command line argument: the SQL query you'd like to run.
    I should have done it like this:
    import java.sql.*;
    public class SimpleConnectionTester
        public static final String DRIVER   = "sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver";
        public static final String URL      = "jdbc:odbc:DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};DBQ=DataConnection.mdb";
        public static final String USERNAME = "admin";
        public static final String PASSWORD = "";
        public static void main(String [] args)
            try
                Class.forName(DRIVER);
                Connection connection   = DriverManager.getConnection(URL, USERNAME, PASSWORD);
                if (args.length > 0)
                    System.out.println("SQL: " + args[0]);
                    Statement statement     = connection.createStatement();
                    ResultSet resultSet     = statement.executeQuery(args[0]);
                    ResultSetMetaData rsmd  = resultSet.getMetaData();
                    int columnCount         = rsmd.getColumnCount();
                    while (resultSet.next())
                        System.out.println();
                        for (int j = 0; j < columnCount; ++j)
                            String columnName   = rsmd.getColumnName(j+1);
                            Object columnValue  = resultSet.getObject(j+1);
                            System.out.print(columnName + ": " + columnValue + ",");
                    resultSet.close();
                    statement.close();
                else
                    System.out.println("Usage: java SimpleConnectionTester \"SQL query in double quotes\"");
                connection.close();
            catch (SQLException e)
                System.err.println("SQL state: " + e.getSQLState());
                System.err.println("SQL error: " + e.getErrorCode());
                e.printStackTrace(System.err);
            catch (Exception e)
                e.printStackTrace(System.err);
    }You should run the code like this:
    java SimpleConnectionTester "SQL query here"Make sure the SQL query is surrounded by double quotes. SELECT something from a table in your Access database. See if that's better. - MOD

  • InfoSet query results confusion...

    HI All,
    We have 2 ODS.  One is Billing and the other is Project Sales.  In the billing ODS we have billing documents that have the billing date (calmonth) and employee.  The projected sales is an ODS that has for each employee for each month, their Projected Sales.
    We have created an InfoSet and linked in the billing ODS the calmonth (in billing) to period field (in Projected Sales) and 0SALESEMPLOYEE (in billing) to PERNR (in Projected) ODS.
    The Projected Sales ODS has exactly 1 entry for each employee for each month.  i.e. employee '12345' for 200501 a projected sales of 10,000.  With the above mapping the query results for projected sales is about 50X more.  In other words, it shows 30 million when it should be 150,000.  I think this has to do with it somehow including results from the billing ODS??
    We've read help about interpreting infoset query results and it's quite confusing.  It speaks of some filter option to exclude query result set, but can't figure it out.
    In addition to the monthly projected sales we want to see for each employee, we want to include all the net sales they had for the same month.  So you can see the mapping we did above.
    Query would look like this:
    Calmonth  Employee  NetSales  ProjSales
    200501    123456    220,000   10,000
    The projected sales is entirely off by millions of dollars and also the net value isn't calculating correctly.  I'm sure out setup is incorrect.
    Can someone help us out please.
    Thanks
    Mike

    Hi Ashish,
    What you explained is exactly what is the case.
    The billing ODS has many, many entries for the for the employee + calmonth combination while the projected sales only has 1.  I've figured out that this is what is happening...multiplying the number of entries in the billing X the Projected Sales.
    Is there a way to avoid this with a particular join in InfoSet?
    The key for billing ODS has billing number, billing item and fiscal year variant, while the key for projected sales is start period and pernr.  So I don't see how a multiprovider would work because the fields are different...am I incorrect?
    Thanks for your quick reply,
    Mike

  • Undo confusion

    Hi,
    As part of my understanding of how undo works, could somebody explain to me the following as I'm quite confused on this.
    1. create table a (b number, c varchar2(30));
    2. insert into a values (1,'hallo');
    3. Check how many undo records have been created:
    select used_urec from v$session s, v$transaction t
    where s.audsid=sys_context('userenv', 'sessionid') and
    s.taddr = t.addr;
    This show 1 undo record because insert stores 1 undo record for rowid ?
    5. insert into a values (2,'foo'); this creates 2 undo records (because of accumlation
    from the previous one?)
    4. insert into a select rownum + 50000, object_name from all_objects where rownum <
    51;
    5. This creates 3 undo records even though 50 inserts have occurred. Why only 3?
    Would appreciate any comments on this?
    Note: the above example has been taken from:
    http://www.adp-gmbh.ch/ora/concepts/undo.html

    What's your Oracle version?
    My test on 10gR1 is different than yours. There's a field for used undo blocks in v$transaction,

  • Brush presets / tool presets - confusion

    I'm by no means a beginner (I think this I'm in my 15th year using Photoshop..), but something that's always bugged me is the difference between brush presets and tool presets. It's never been much of an issue in the past, but I'm spending an increasing amount of my workflow drawing digitally using various brushes, and I'm finding these two different ways to save and import brushes quite confusing. If I've altered a brush, and want to save it, what are the advantages / disatvantages of saving it as a tool preset, or as a brush?
    I have my favourite pencils saved as tool presets, which works fine, but I don't see what the brush presets do that is different from this. Is there a 'right way' to organise / save brushes? What's actually the difference between the 2 things? Are they totally interchangeable?

    So going by what you said, that means the Tool Presets store tool specific settings (flow, opacity etc), as well as the brushes themselves. Is that correct?
    Brush Presets (see Brush Preset Panel, not just the Brush Panel) can be used by all painting Tools. Tool Presets refer to a specific Tool but can indeed hold a Brush tip that has been removed from the Brush Presets.

  • Aperture has a bad memory and has gone confused

    Aperture 3.0.3 has a bad memory and has gone confused... or is it just me?
    I have several referenced files that are quite confusing.
    This is what I see in list view:
    Version name: filename
    Filename: filename.cr2 (Canon raw file)
    Camera model: iPhone (doesn't shoot Canon raw)
    The same file in Locate referenced Files-dialogue:
    Version name: anotherfilename
    Filename: anotherfilename.jpg (not Canon raw anymore)
    Both views show the same date. The image is shot with my Canon.
    Are you confused? I am.
    The bad memory is frustrating. Almost every time I start Aperture I also had to reenter my preferences (thumbnail size, external editor etc). This is discussed in http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2565307&tstart=0.
    I have some tother issues too. Aperture doesn't help me anymore. It prevents me from doing what I love - making pictures.
    I have rebuilt and repaired the library.
    I have followed Troubleshooting Basics http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805.
    I'm out of ideas and would really appreciate if you can help me.
    Thanks!

    Thanks!
    No, I'm no importing RAW+jpg and I haven't been editing metadata manually in the library. I don't even know how I would do that. Any suggestions about which appliccation it could be? Photoshop? Painter? Mail?
    I have other issues too and that makes me think that there had to be something else too. Face detection is running wen it's turned off and number of versions doesn't show when the settings is set to Show number of versions.
