R12 database and JRE Issue

Hello,
I have installed EBS R12 12.1.1 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 upgrade 3. After installation I successfully open the Application Front End and logged into application, but due to JRE not able to launch Forms.
Some how system got hanged and I forcibly started the system. But after I restarted I am not able to start database and application services.
Actually this is the first time I have installed R12 on Linux. When I open terminal and type command $APPL_TOP, its not taking me into APPL_TOP.
I believe there might be some problem in Environment Variables... and I don't know how to set. OR what to do so that my database and application server comes online.
host name - appsdev
domain name - fusion.com
SID - VIS
Please help to troubleshoot and resolve this issue.

Hi Helios,
Thanks for helping in setting Env Variables... With ur steps I believe database is started.. and I can connect to sqlplus.
But I am not able to start the application services. When I run "adstrtal.sh" I get so many errors. Details Below -

  • IDE's and JRE (issue)

    I recently reformatted my home computer and I'm using the most updated version of Vista x64. I also installed the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of JRE and JDK on my PC. My IDE (Eclipse) is installed on my Flash Drive, which also contains the latest JRE and JDK.
    My problem is this: When I attempt to compile code in Eclipse, it will successfully complile, but if there is a need for a new window, such as gridworld (http://www.horstmann.com/gridworld/), I am unable to make that window appear. The IDE works flawlessly on other computers, and the issue only occurs on my computer at home. Can anyone help me out?

  • Database and page Load Issue

    Well recently I needed to change the database tables and had to remove one table within the databse. Using MySQL 5
    After I cleaned up all traces of information related to the table which was removed I decided to deploy and try out the application. When I try to enter one of the pages I get this error:

    The problem is I can't find any traces of the table i removed left in the project, I did a find all in the project of a keyword which will pick up on the table and removed it.
    Another interesting fact is that when I remove the data providers in the page which have no connection to the table I removed the program will load fine. I also checked all my queries and they were all displaying correctly.
    Any ideas?

    I found out the reason for the error, the validation table I had set was used by the datasource, after I removed the table Java Studio Creator left traces of that and still tried to use the table for validation.
    If anyone else has this problem, the way I fixed this was to open the Servers Window, expand the Deployment Server Node, expand the Resources folder and remove anything there even remotely related to your database, remove your database and re-add it.
    Also, could this be considered a bug? I believe I have a way to reproduce it:
    1) Create a database
    2) Add a datasource set the Validation table to one of the tables
    3) Remove that table from the database
    That should cause the error to show up. When the datasource is removed shouldn't JSC remove any traces of the connection?
    Lastly does this mean that JSC is checking the validation table everytime on deployment?
    A response regarding this would be appreciated

  • SQL Server Database backup and restore issue

    Hi
    I am trying to take a backup of the database and using restore to create  its copy on the same server
    Basically I am following this approach
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3912221/ms-sql-2008-create-a-copy-of-the-database-without-the-data
    Using the restore command is giving me the following error
    RESTORE DATABASE [TargetDB]
    FROM DISK = N'D:\backup.bak' WITH FILE = 1,
    MOVE N'OriginalDB' TO N'D:\sql data\TargetDB.mdf',
    MOVE N'OriginalDB' TO N'C:\SQL Data\TargetDB_1.ldf',
    NOUNLOAD, STATS = 33
    Logical file "ORIGINALDB" is not part of database "TARGETDB" . Use RESTOREFILELIST only to list
    plz suggest as I checked the syntax is fine too as per
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms190447%28v=sql.105%29.aspx
    I am using SQL Server 2012

    LogicalName cant be same for mdf and ldf. verify again with FILELISTONLY. Also you have put wrong logical name
    MOVE N'OriginalDB' TO N'D:\sql data\TargetDB.mdf'
    Please paste the output of
    RESTORE FILELISTONLY FROM DISK = 'D:\backup.bak'

  • R12.1.3 - clone issues now after DB upgrade to 11gr2

    R12.1.3 on RH Linux x86_64.
    Upgraded the dB from 11.1.0.7 to 11.2.0.3 over the weekend and now trying to do rapid clone and having some challenges.
    1. adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack
    First issue was after refreshing dbTier files and running "perl adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack".
    RC-00110: Fatal: Error occurred while relinking of ApplyDBTechStack
    Errors about perl 5.10 vs 5.8 or something
    o Ended up being because the $Oracle_Home/appsutil/jre directory didn't exist.
    o Which still needs to be sorted out in Prod but for now I just copied it from Test.
    o Then "export PATH=/app/oracle/ebsd/db/tech_st/11.2.0/perl/bin/:$PATH" to make it use new perl version.
    Edit:  This thread seems to be very similar but I still don't see the jre step that I missed that he refers to here.
    https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2372594
    I did re-run "How To Recreate the /appsutil/scripts/ directory [ID 377495.1]" but I see now that just creates the scripts directory and not my missing jre.
    I do have it on a Test instance I upgraded some time ago.  Can I just copy from there?
    2. Then I used rman to refresh my database. This step worked ok.
    3. adcfgclone.pl dbTier
    Now trying to run this step and first issue is:
    RC-20200: Fatal: Could not find Unzip. At this time only Native UnZip 5.X is supported.
    Please make sure you have UnZip 5.X in your path and try again...
    I see some others pots on this but I can't apply patch yet so just modify PATH to use Linux unzip vs unzip 6 in $Oracle_Home.
    Now I get:
    RC-00110: Fatal: Error occurred while relinking of ApplyDBTechStack
    If I check the log file at the end I see this:
    [AutoConfig Error Report]
    The following report lists errors AutoConfig encountered during each
    phase of its execution.  Errors are grouped by directory and phase.
    The report format is:
          <filename>  <phase>  <return code where appropriate>
      [INSTANTIATE PHASE]
      AutoConfig could not successfully instantiate the following files:
        Directory: /app/oracle/ebsd/db/tech_st/11.2.0/appsutil/install/EBSD_db6t
          adcrdb.sh               INSTE8
    AutoConfig is exiting with status 1
    RC-50014: Fatal: Execution of AutoConfig was failed
    Raised by oracle.apps.ad.clone.ApplyDBTechStack
    One thing I do notice is when providing my responses it is suggesting my Dev Oracle_Home with the old 11.1.0 path instead of the path for my Prod server and the 11.2.0 directory.
    Also the display is already set to my Test server while it should be making me change it from Prod.
    Is that clear?  Something is not right here... (obviously)

    Well that wasn't the silver bullet I was hoping for.
    Still getting "RC-00110: Fatal: Error occurred while relinking of ApplyDBTechStack".
    If I look in my ApplyDBTier_06192204.log file I see.
    Using make file "ins_emagent.mk" for linking SYSMAN utilities...
    Error while running adlnkoh.sh.
      return code = .58
    and then "Warning: Unable to connect to Database" but the db is down now anyway so why the error?
    and eventually:
    [AutoConfig Error Report]
    The following report lists errors AutoConfig encountered during each
    phase of its execution.  Errors are grouped by directory and phase.
    The report format is:
          <filename>  <phase>  <return code where appropriate>

      AutoConfig could not successfully instantiate the following files:
        Directory: /app/oracle/ebsd/db/tech_st/11.2.0/appsutil/install/EBSD_xxx

  • Oracle Apps Database severe Performance Issue

    Hi Gurus,
    This is regarding a severe performance issue running in our Production E-Business Suite Instance.
    its an R12.1.3 setup installed with 11.2.0.1 Database. All the servers are Solaris Sparc 64 (Solaris 10)
    Let me brief you about the instance first:
    2 Node Application
    - Main Application Server hosting web/forms/concurrent/admin servers
    - iSupplier server hosting web services (placed in DMZ, used by external suppliers via Internet)
    1 Node Database Server
    Database Server Specs
    Memory: 144G phys mem 20G total swap
    - CPUs (8Px4cores, 2Px2cores)
    - I/O - fiber channel hard disk (hitachi SAN Storage) - 7 DATA_TOPs (7 drives with RAID 5) - current DB size 1.6 TB
    - at peak load, around 1000 concurrent forms session and 2000 web sessions.
    We have been facing some serious performance issues and we raised an SR with Oracle Support.
    The Support analyzed a bunch of AWR Reports we provided them and they asked us to increase the DB_CACHE from its current usage of 27G to 40G
    So, we changed SGA_TARGET from 35G to 50G and PGA was increased from 35G to 40G as v$pgastat was also suggesting some lack of memory.
    We made these changes last night.
    Today morning we observed the following:
    1. after start of office hours, we checked in the home page of EM DB Console that ADDM was showing reduced impact due to lack of SGA memory which seemed to be a good sign. Earlier it was around 25% which was now at 12%.
    However, negative aspects were:
    1. lot of swapping was reported by the System Administrators on the DB Server
    2. High CPU Usage
    3. EM DB Console showed a lot of "Concurrency Wait Class" events ...throughout the day lot of blocking sessions were reported which were making other sessions to wait.
    in the AWR Report, following foreground reports were listed:
    Top 5 Timed Foreground Events
    Event

    This is showing "library cache lock" events as the main culprit apart from the usual suspect, the CPU.
    I am attaching the AWR Report. Please let me know if  i should revert back the memory changes or is there anything else i could do.
    Please help us resolving it because the performance is going worst.

    $excel.Rows.Item(1).VerticalAlignment = $xlTop
    $excel.Rows.Item("1:1").Font.Name = "Calibri"
    $excel.Rows.Item("1:1").Font.Size = 11
    $excel.Rows.Item("1:1").Font.Bold = $true
    $filename = "D:\Script\Reports\Status_$a.xlsx"
    if (test-path $filename ) { rm $filename }
    $wb.SaveAs($filename, $xlOpenXMLWorkbook) #save as an XML Workbook (xslx)
    $wb.Saved = $True #flag it as being saved
    $wb.Close() #close the document
    $Excel.Quit() #and the instance of Excel
    $wb = $Null #set all variables that point to Excel objects to null
    $ws = $Null #makes sure Excel deflates
    $Excel=$Null #let the air out
    I would like to use connection string to query the database and write results to EXCEL, i.e.
    $SQL_Statement = "SELECT ..."
    $conn = New-Object System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection
    $conn.ConnectionString = "Server=10.10.10.10;Initial Catalog=mydatabase;User Id=$username;Password=$password;"
    $conn.Open()
    $cmd = New-Object System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand($SQL_Statement,$conn)
    do{
    try{
    $rdr = $cmd.ExecuteReader()
    while ($rdr.read()){
    $sql_output += ,@($rdr.GetValue(0), $rdr.GetValue(1))
    $transactionComplete = $true
    catch{
    $transactionComplete = $false
    }until ($transactionComplete)
    $conn.Close()
    How would I read the columns and data for $sql_output into an EXCEL worksheet. Where do I find these tutorials?

    Hi Q.P.Waverly,
    If you mean to export the data in $sql_output to excel document, please try to format the output with psobject:
    $sql_output=@()
    do{
    try{
    $rdr = $cmd.ExecuteReader()
    while ($rdr.read()){
    $sql_output+=New-Object PSObject -Property @{data1 = $rdr.GetValue(0);data2 =$rdr.GetValue(1)}
    $transactionComplete = $true
    catch{
    $transactionComplete = $false
    }until ($transactionComplete)
    $conn.Close()
    Then please try to use the cmdlet "Export-Csv" to export the data to excel like:
    $sql_output | Export-Csv d:\data.csv
    Or you can export to worksheet like:
    $excel = New-Object -ComObject Excel.Application
    $excel.Visible = $true
    $workbook = $excel.Workbooks.Add()
    $sheet = $workbook.ActiveSheet
    $counter = 0
    $sql_output | ForEach-Object {
    $counter++
    $sheet.cells.Item($counter,1) = $_.data1$sheet.cells.Item($counter,2) = $_.data2}

  • Oracle 9I Database, and Mobile Server install history

    Dear Oracle technical representative:
    This TAR started out as a true request for help in solving installation problems with Oracle 9i Release 2 Enterprise Edition, and Oracle 9i Mobile Server Release 5.0.1, but it has turned into a history of frustration with out of date, laconic, and often incorrect, and misleading documentation. As a software developer, I understand that documentation is always out of date, at least mine is. Nonetheless, I must speak my mind while understanding, and sympathizing with your situation.
    I struggled through the documentation, and managed to get everything working. While I was doing that, I wrote down the step by step procedure that I used to get Database, and Mobile Server running. By sharing this rough install history with you, it is my hope that it will help prevent others from experiencing the same difficulties that I have had. It has been my observation that when a user has problems installing a trial software package they give up quickly, and do not purchase a copy. It is thus extremely important that the installation instructions, and quick start guide be accurate, attentive to detail, and well written. The first impression is the one that counts.
    The Oracle 9i Lite Installation, and Configuration Guide for Windows NT shipped with Oracle 9i Lite Release 5.0.1 definitely requires, and emergency rewrite. It is terribly out of date, inaccurate, and laconic. My guess is that it is a very sloppy rewrite of poorly written 8i documentation. The Oracle 9i Database Installation Guide for Windows is somewhat better. It however should do a better job informing you that before installing onto a old server the Microsoft Foundation Class (MFC), and VC runtime libraries must be up to date. The history describes the trouble with not having the MFC42.dll at version 6. Another corker is that the default port the installer presents is 2030, and not 1521, and that leads to major confusion in the both the Database, and Mobile Server installs.
    Thank you for looking at the history. I hope that it will be of use to you when you update your documentation.

    TAR for Oracle 9i Release 2 Database Enterprise Edition, and Oracle Lite Release 5.0.1 Mobile Server
    Installation problems are highlighted in red.
    Installation sequence/history:
         1. Installed Windows NT 4.0 Server SP1 on Dell Power Edge 4300 dual x86 server to wipe the slate clean.
         2. Setup TCP/IP, and IPX/SPX networks
              Computer name YGGDRASILL
              Host name = YGGDRASILL
              Domain = CFR.MSSTATE.EDU
              Internet name = YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSATE.EDU = 130.18.130.225
         3. Installed NT SP3, and Internet Explorer 4.01 from the NT 40 Options Pack CD as the gateway to installing MTS 2.0, and IIS 4.0.
         4. Installed MTS 2.0, and IIS 4.0 from NT 4.0 Optins Pack CD.
         5. Applied NT 4.0 SP6.
         6. Installed Internet Explorer 5.5 as a prerequisite to installing MADAC 2.6.
         7. Installed MDAC 2.6
         8. Installed Paint Shop Pro 7 for capturing error screens.
         9. As previous install errors stated that the ordinal function xxxx could not be found in MFC42.dll, the latest version (6.0.8665.0) of the dll was installed, and registered from MS VC++ SP5. Also I upgraded MSVCIRT.dll, MSVCRT.dll, MSCRT40.dll, and added MSVC60.dll from SP5 to be on the safe side.
    According to the installation documents all the prerequisites for installing Oracle 9i Release 2 Database Enterprise Edition are satisfied.
         10. Began install of Oracle Database Enterprise Edition with target parameters:
              Home directory = D:\Oracle\Ora92
              Database directory = D:\Oracle\oradata
              Global database name = FIA.YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU
              Port = 2030
              SID = FIA
              SYSTEM Password = phwphw
              SYS Password = phwphw
              SCOTT Password = phwphw
              DBSNMP Password = I left this one unassigned or empty.
              tnsnames.ora entry for remote TCP/IP connection
              a. CD 1 of 3 load
                   1. Error writting to MFC42u.dll. Action ignore. A check indicated that MFC42u.dll version did not match the updated version of MFC42.dll. Plan is to update after install. Unicode version of MFC is probably not used by the installer.
              b. CD 1 completed with only one problem, and CD 2 load begins.
              c. CD 2 installed without incident., and CD 3 load begins, and completes without farther problems. The only issue to address at this time is to update the MFC42u.dll.
                   HTTP Server URLs
                        http://7778
                        https://4443
         12. Evaluation of install success begins.
              a. Oracle HTTP Service will not start. It is of particular interest that on installs that I do not upgrade the MFC42.dll the Oracle HTTP Service will start correctly, but during the install I get the error message Ordinal nnnn not found in MFC42.dll, and the Oracle MTS Recovery Service crashes during the install. I am caught between a rock and hard spot on this one. See the Figure 1. At the end of this document. I do not need the HTTP Server at this time but I will need it later and this issue must be resolved. It appears that it hangs during startup. I am sorry but I lost the ordinal number nnnn.
              When I try to start the HTTP server from the Programs menu. It Hangs, and does not return an error message. See Figure 2, and the included Apache Setup.txt, the install log, and the HTTPd.conf . The conf, and setup files look OK to me. What is the problem?
              b. All other services start correctly.
              c. Logged into the database as SCOTT on the server with SQL Plus using the connection information:
                   FIA.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU =
                   (DESCRIPTION =
                   (ADDRESS_LIST =
                   (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = yggdrasill)(PORT = 1521))
                   (CONNECT_DATA =
                   (SERVER = DEDICATED)
                   (SERVICE_NAME = FIA.YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU)
              I created some tables, inserted data, and queried for the data. Everthing seems to be working correctly.
              d. Logged in remotely from my AOL account on a dial-up line using Oracle 9i Release 2 Personal Edition installed on my ThinkPad. Every thing tested out as above. I used the connection information:
                   FIA.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU =
                   (DESCRIPTION =
                   (ADDRESS_LIST =
                   (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = yggdrasill.cfr.msstate.edu)(PORT = 1521))
                   (CONNECT_DATA =
                   (SERVER = DEDICATED)
                   (SERVICE_NAME = FIA.YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU)
         13. I concluded that except for the Oracle HTTP Server Service not starting correctly, and that after updating the MFC42u.dll to VC++ SP5 level the stage is set for installing Oracle 9i Mobile Server Release 5.0.1. I copied the MFC42u.dll to the server and registered it successfully.
         14. As Visual Studio 6.0 Professional updates all of the MFC stuff, I decides to install it at this juncture, and apply SP5.
         15. Installed JDK1.3.1 required for Oracle 9i Mobile Server Release 5.0.1
    At this time the prerequisites for installing Oracle 9i Mobile Server Release 5.0.1 are satisfied, and MFC, and rt are at version 6.
    It is important to note that after installing MS Visual Studio Professional 6.0 SP5, the HTTP server started working. It is clear that prior to installing Oracle Database it is essential that MFC, and possibly other components are upgraded before starting an installation of Oracle. This probably only applies to old NT servers, but it should be mentioned in the installation instructions.
         16. Attempt to install Oracle Mobile Server Release 5.0.1
              a. File locations Screen
                   Name: = OraLite501
                   Path: = D:\OraLite501
              b. Select Mobile Server at Installation Screen
              c. Mobile Server Repository Database Information Screen
                   Hostname = YGGDRASILL = hostname from tnsnames.ora
                   Port = 2030 = same as Database port
                        It is troublesome that the port in tsnames.ora is 1521, and not 2030 as was specified in the database install. I will try this port on the reinstall. On the retry, it worked. The problem was that I was mislead by the default port of 2030 at the database install. The database was actually installed on port 1521, and I was not given an error message, or warning. As I am a first time installer of Oracle products this threw me for a loop. The default port for the database needs to be 1521, if regardless of what the user specifies for a port you are going to install on port 1521.
                   Net Service Name = FIA.YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU = Global database name as required by installation instructions.
              d. Yes. At Do you want to install the Mobile Server Repository question.
              e. At Oracle Protocol Support, I checked the SPX box.
              f. Summary, and Install screens function to specifications.
              g. Mobile Server Repository Wizard
                   Database System password:
                        Password = phwphw
              h. Mobile Server Repository Wizard
                   Schema Name: fiafield
                   Password : fiafield
              i. Success at last with the install part. The problem was the wrong port number. See my above comments on this problem, and how Oracle could grease the skids for the next first time installer.
         j. I could not find the httpd.conf file in the place the install instructions said it should be for running the Mobile Server in Oracle HTTP Server. Since only one copy of httpd.conf existed, I added the include D:\OraLite501\mobile\server\bin\wtgias.conf to the bottom of the file assuming that it is the correct one. I the re-booted instead of using apache -k restart. The Oracle HTTP Server started, so there is hope. The install instructions state that the httpd.conf file would most likely be in the program files directory, when they are really installed in the Oracle Lite home directory.
         k. According to the documentation the Mobile Server should start when the Oracle HTTP Server starts with the wtgias.conf file added to the httpd.conf file. It does not. If I use Process Explorer, I know that Apache loaded the wtgias.conf, because both Apache.exe processes that are running have the wtgias.dll loaded. The facts are at this stage of the game are
              1. OraMTSRecoveryService is started
              2. OracleOraHome92HTTPService is started
              3. OracleOraHome92Listener is started on port
              4. OracleServiceFIA is started
              5. Apache.exe has the wtgias.dll loaded
              6. The Moble Server is not running and it should be if the documentation is correct.
              7. If I start the Mobile Server either as a service using wtgsvc -i or with the webtogo command from the DOS prompt, the Mobile Server starts, but when I attempt to log in with the URL http://Yggdrasill:7778/webtogo/startup it inform me the Mobile Server is not started and it is. Figure 3 shows the response I receive from the login attempt.
         l. I finally ran the Mobile Server in total debug mode using the command webtogo -d0", and it gave me the subtle hint that the correct URL is
              http://Yggdrasill.cfr.msstate.edu/webtogo/startup.
         When I use the above URL and I can login to the Mobile Server with UN = fiafield, and PW = fiafield. I was confused by the documentation. I was under the assumption that the host address would be either http://Yggdrasill:7778, or http://Yggdrasill:4443. After all when I, installed Oracle Database these URLs were listed. It needs to be made clear in the installation guide for the mobile server that the Mobile Server address is http://Your servers WWW address/webtogo/startup, and the statements about the Mobile Server will start when the Oracle HTTP Server is started needs to be removed since they are incorrect. Also, the documentation should clearly state that the Schema Name, and Password given in the Repository Wizard Screen are synonymous with the username, and password for the Mobile Server login.
         m. After determning the hard way that the Mobile Server does not start when the the Oracle HTTP Server starts, and that the correct URL is http://Internet address/webtogo/startup = http://Yggdrasill.cfr.msstate.edu/webtogo/startup, I decide to start the Mobile Server as a service with the command wtgsvc -i. After I re-booted, to my surprise, I could not login to the Mobile Server. When I checked the system services, the webtogo service was running. So to give the start as a service thing a fair chance I re-booted again, but obtained the same results. I thus concluded that the Mobile Server will not run correctly as a service. As it turns out my conclusion was wrong. After waiting a few minutes, my login try was successful. The documentation should indicate that after booting it may be a minute or two before the Mobile Server service become available.
         n. After some serious problems with the installer, and the documentation everything is working. I have a green light to go on to the next stage, which is program the handheld to take advantage of the Mobile Server. I will be glad to get back to programming, and am so thankful that I am not a network administrator.

  • Cache and performance issue in browsing SSAS cube using Excel for first time

    Hello Group Members,
    I am facing a cache and performance issue for the first time, when I try to open a SSAS cube connection using Excel (using Data tab  -> From Other Sources --> From Analysis Services) after daily cube refresh. In end users
    system (8 GB RAM), for the first time, it takes 10 minutes to open the cube. From next run onwards, its open up quickly within 10 secs.
    We have daily ETL process running in high end servers. The configuration of dedicated SSAS cube server is 8 core, 64GB RAM. In total we have 4 cubes - out of which for 3 is full cube refresh and 1 is incremental refresh. We have seen after
    daily cube refresh, it takes 10 odd minutes to open the cube in end users system. From next time onwards, it opens up really fast with 10 secs. After cube refresh, in server systems (16 GB RAM), it takes 2 odd minutes to open the cube.
    Is there, any way we could reduce the time taken for first attempt ?
    Best Regards, Arka Mitra.

    Thanks Richard and Charlie,
    We have implemented the solution/suggestions in our DEV environment and we have seen a definite improvement. We are waiting this to be deployed in UAT environment to note down the actual performance and time improvement while browsing the cube for the
    first time after daily cube refresh.
    Guys,
    This is what we have done:
    We have 4 cube databases and each cube db has 1-8 cubes.
    1. We are doing daily cube refresh using SQL jobs as follows:
    <Batch xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2003/engine">
    <Parallel>
    <Process xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:ddl2="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2003/engine/2" xmlns:ddl2_2="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2003/engine/2/2" xmlns:ddl100_100="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2008/engine/100/100" xmlns:ddl200="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2010/engine/200" xmlns:ddl200_200="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2010/engine/200/200">
    <Object>
    <DatabaseID>FINANCE CUBES</DatabaseID>
    </Object>
    <Type>ProcessFull</Type>
    <WriteBackTableCreation>UseExisting</WriteBackTableCreation>
    </Process>
    </Parallel>
    </Batch>
    2. Next we are creating a separate SQL job (Cache Warming - Profitability Analysis) for cube cache warming for each single cube in each cube db like:
    CREATE CACHE FOR [Profit Analysis] AS
    {[Measures].members}
    *[TIME].[FINANCIAL QUARTER].[FINANCIAL QUARTER]
    3. Finally after each cube refresh step, we are creating a new step of type T-SQL where we are calling these individual steps:
    EXEC dbo.sp_start_job N'Cache Warming - Profit Analysis';
    GO
    I will update the post after I receive the actual im[provement from UAT/ Production environment.
    Best Regards, Arka Mitra.

  • Oracle 9i Database and Developer Installation

    I am a student going through the Oracle Developer Certification and I am hoping someone can help me with some troubleshooting. This has to do with installing 2 different services on 2 home directories. I installed the Oracle 9i database enterprise edition on the c drive on my laptop. Today I installed the Developer software as well on the c drive on a different directory. I now have the problem that I cannot connect to SQLPlus on the database side and I can not access datatbase connection on the Developer/Form side either. When I installed the developer software I created a new directory called OracNT since it would not allow me to install it on the orahome90 directory (database was installed here)....Does anyone have any advice on what to do? I have install and unistalled both the database and the Developer software and I am getting the same issue...All help would be appreciated.
    lari

    Lari,
    Not quite the right forum for this, but I suspect your tnsnames.ora file in both the
    network directories under the two ORACLE_HOMEs does not have an entry
    for the local database.
    On trying to connect you should get an error message and number. Use these
    and search within metalink, there are a number of good articles on network
    configuration.
    There are also network configuration assistants available from the database windows program
    menu.

    Hi ,
    On our SAP r/3 4.7 server currently JRE1.4 is installed .
    We recived a request to upgrade it to 1.5
    Can you let us know if there is any dependecy between sap r/3 4.7 and JRE 1.5
    Will it run without any issue.
    Regards

    Hi Sunny ,
    Thanks for the info .Just one more question does  SAP Java connector 3.06 is supported by R/34.7?
    I am unable to find any information  regarding the same anywhere .
    Only thing i found was that
    SAP java connector Supports R/3 3.1I and higher (and other SAP Components that have BAPIs or RFMs).
    It does not say anything about the version of SAP java connector.

  • How to retrieve data using logical database and custom select options

    Hi all,
    I have a selection screen which is displayed by logical database PSJ and I have two select options of my own. I need to retrieve data based on both selection screen of logical database and my own select options. How can I do it?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hai Gupta
    Check the following Document & Links
    1. A logical database is in fact
    a program only.
    2. This LDB provides two main things :
    a) a pre-defined selection screen
    which handles all user inputs and validations
    b) pre defined set of data
    based upon the user selection.
    3. So we dont have to worry about from
    which tables to fetch data.
    4. Moreover, this LDB Program,
    handles all user-authorisations
    and is efficient in all respects.
    5. tcode is SLDB
    good info about Logical Database. you can check the link.

    Functions for displaying and changing logical databases:
    Call Transaction SE36 or
    Choose ABAP Workbench -> Development -> Programming environ. -> Logical databases
    Interaction between database program and report:
    During program processing, subroutines are performed in the database program and events are executed in the report.
    To read data from a database tables we use logical database.
    A logical database provides read-only access to a group of related tables to an ABAP/4 program.
    advantages:-
    The programmer need not worry about the primary key for each table.Because Logical database knows how the different tables relate to each other,and can issue the SELECT command with proper where clause to retrieve the data.
    i)An easy-to-use standard user interface.
    ii)check functions which check that user input is complete,correct,and plausible.
    iii)meaningful data selection.
    iv)central authorization checks for database accesses.
    v)good read access performance while retaining the hierarchical data view determined by the application logic.
    disadvantages:-
    i)If you donot specify a logical database in the program attributes,the GET events never occur.
    ii)There is no ENDGET command,so the code block associated with an event ends with the next event
    statement (such as another GET or an END-OF-SELECTION).

  • Regarding Logical database and  select statement..

    Hi
    Experts.
    i would  like to  know the  diff b/w logical data base & select statement  while using report.
    wt is the use of logical databases in R/3. is there   any   advantage  used in the  reports.
    Thanks & Regards..
    Spandana.

    Dear Spandana,
      Go through the below description of LDB. I hope you wil get a fair amount of idea.
    SAP comes loaded with all the extras. Among the extras that are most helpful to IT managers are all the access routines needed to pull any business object that managers can think of out of SAP databases. However, SAP has not thought of everything where your particular applications are concerned. SAP organizes its standard database tables to service business units based on conventional business applications. Itu2019s likely your business requires something new, perhaps even something exotic. In that case, you will need to create a new database, using information from different places. Basically, you need a logical database. You need to create a virtual business data object repository consisting of a new kind of record or table that suits your purposes. In addition, the repository should be composed of information that is actually stored in a number of different locations, none of them necessarily logically associated with one another. Letu2019s take a closer look at creating logical databases.
    A case for a logical database
    Suppose my company manufactures widgets of the most obscure variety, and they are components of other widgets. I sell my widgets as raw material for the more sophisticated widgets built by others, but in some cases I actually partner with other manufacturers in creating yet another class of widget. Now, in my world, I consequently have customers who are also partners. I sell to them and I partner with them in manufacturing and distribution. Also, I need an application that uses both of these dual-use relationships.
    Essentially, I have a customer database and a partner database. Neither contains records that are structured to contain the identifying particulars of the other. Thus, I need a hybrid database that gives me tables detailing these hybrid relationships. What can I do? I can go the long way around and write a new database, pulling information from both and creating new objects with a customized program that I write by hand. However, this process is cumbersome and contains maintenance issues. On the other hand, I can use SAPu2019s logical database facility, create my logical database in a couple of minutes, and have no maintenance issues at all.
    Logical database structures
    There are three defining entities in an SAP logical database. You must be clear on all three in order to create and use one.
    u2022     Table structure: Your logical database includes data from specified tables in SAP. There is a hierarchy among these tables defined by their foreign keys (all known to SAP), and you are going to define a customized relationship between select tables. This structure is unique and must be defined and saved.
    u2022     Data selection: You may not want or need every item in the referenced tables that contributes to your customized database. There is a selection screen that permits you to pick and choose.
    u2022     Database access programming: Once youu2019ve defined your logical database, SAP will generate the access subroutines needed to pull the data in the way you want it pulled.
    Creating your own logical database
    ABAP/4 (Advanced Business Application Programming language, version 4) is the language created by SAP for implementation and customization of its R/3 system. ABAP/4 comes loaded with many predefined logical databases that can construct and table just about any conventional business objects you might need in any canned SAP application. However, you can also create your own logical databases to construct any custom objects you care to define, as your application requires in ABAP/4. Hereu2019s a step-by-step guide:
    1.     Call up transaction SLDB (or transaction SE36). The path you want is Tools | ABAP Workbench | Development | Programming Environment | Logical Databases. This screen is called Logical Database Builder.
    2.     Enter an appropriate name in the logical database name field. You have three options on this screen: Create, Display, and Change. Choose Create.
    3.     Youu2019ll be prompted for a short text description of your new logical database. Enter one. Youu2019ll then be prompted to specify a development class.
    4.     Now comes the fun part! You must specify a root node, or a parent table, as the basis of your logical database structure. You can now place subsequent tables under the root table as needed to assemble the data object you want. You can access this tree from this point forward, to add additional tables, by selecting that root node and following the path Edit | Node | Create. Once youu2019ve saved the structure you define in this step, the system will generate the programming necessary to access your logical database. The best part is you donu2019t have to write a single line of code.
    Watch out!
    The use of very large tables will degrade the performance of a logical database, so be aware of that trade-off. Remember that some tables in SAP are very complex, so they will be problematic in any user-defined logical database.
    Declaring a logical database
    Hereu2019s another surprising feature of logical databases: You do not assign them in your ABAP/4 Code. Instead, the system requires that you specify logical databases as attributes. So when you are creating a report, have your logical database identifier (the name you gave it) on hand when you are defining its attributes on the Program Attributes screen. The Attributes section of the screen (the lower half) will include a Logical database field, where you can declare your logical database.
    Logical databases for increasing efficiency
    Why else would you want to create a logical database? Consider that the logical databases already available to you begin with a root node and proceed downward from there. If the data object you wish to construct consists of items that are all below the root node, you can use an existing logical database program to extract the data, then trim away what you donu2019t want using SELECT statementsu2014or you can increase the speed of the logical database program considerably by redefining the logical database for your object and starting with a table down in the chain. Either way, youu2019ll eliminate a great deal of overhead.

  • Project Gantt Bar Bug in P6 (EPPM and PM) - A strange and Unique Issue

    Hello All,
    I have 18 projects in my production EPS but one has a problem, i've been unable to resolve, so far.
    The Issue*
    In the Project-Layout-View (Project Space), when I look at project X's Gantt Bar, following is observed.
    A- When he Project is Open:
    All is good. There is no issue.
    1- The bar length and position are good, i.e., it starts and ends at right location on the timescale.
    2- The bar has two colours (blue for actual and green for remaining) separated at the point where the Data Date is.
    3- Project Baseline Bar is all good
    B- When the Project is Closed:
    The Bar goes corrupt.
    1- The bar starts at the right spot on timescale but goes beyond its forecast finish by about 1 year.
    2- The whole bar has only one colour, blue, which mis-informs the viewer that the project has completed.
    3- Project Baseline Bar stays good
    Issue Environment"
    - I have P6 V8.2 (stand alone) and P6 V8.0 (Enterprise) both on Win 7 and the issue appears in both.
    - The issue appeared about halfway of the project progress.
    - I've tried summarizing - but in vain
    Look forward to seeing some interesting solution(s) from you.
    Regards

    Thanks ITPM
    Creating a new layout from scratch did not help.
    But something else happened that fixed the problem.
    The issue disappeared as soon as I updated the schedule in question with an updated XER, as our usual fortnightly exercise. So, looks like the issue started and ended in the source database.
    Now, when I stack the latest as well as 20 archived copies of project X sorted by finish dates, and all closed, in the project layout view, I see a nicely (uniformly) increasing blue colour, project after project, except the last fortnight's archive copy whose Gantt bar is corrupt - corrupt as described in the very first text of this thread.
    I still don’t know why and shall keep thinking about and shall ask the source re their view(s). This is not a serious issue for me but, could be serious to those fellows who have their summary/tracking layouts accessible (or designed to be accessible) by their project staff.
