RAC issue
Hi,
We are facing issues in 2 node RAC...Clusterware 11.2.0.3..database 10.2.0.5.0
We are facing the following errors in the alertlog. Can anyone throw light? node1 is up. When we start node 2 both the nodes get hang.

One thing i noted that instance service is not running in crs_stat -t output .
After shutting down any node it give the error TNS-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor . and it takes 7-8 for making any new connection.
Kindly suggest how i can resolve this issue.
Edited by: user10505923 on Aug 17, 2011 5:18 AMDepending on how your service was created you may need to register it with CRS:
srvctl add service -d db_name -s service_nameCan you post your listener info? output from issuing lsnrctl status and also your tnsnames or connect string you are using to connect?
(be sure to change any sensitive data to something generic but make sure you change it in all places to keep it consistent)
Also if you use the direct IP address or hostname in your connect string instead of the SCAN does the slowness go away? -
We have two node rac setup. We are facing issues with the second node. if both node are up then application is not able to connect with the database. if the second node is down then application is able to connect.
What is the reason of this abnormal behaviour ?
any suggestion ?
We have oracle 10g RAC ( Database version 10.2.0.4), CRS version 10.2.0.3

RAC Issue with high Transaction OLTP + GC's
In the Lab i am testing in-house application with Oracle 10g.
Setup
- 2 Database servers (RHEL OS 3, IBM H/W, 4GB RAM)
- 2 in house Application servers (RHEL OS 3, IBM H/W, 4GB RAM)
- IBM Disk Array with 2Gbps fiber Cable Speed
- Cisco LAN Switch with 100mbps/sec Port
Application Detail-
-- Its a OLTP application.
-- Doing lots of insertion, update, delete, commit for each transaction.
-- With high application load, its doing 5000 DB tranactions/sec with database.
The following test scenario need to test
1. Start one application server and conenct with DB instance1 and push high load..
2. Start both application server and connect with DB Instance1b and push high load from both applications.
3. Start Both application server and connect with both DB servers ( For Ex.
(A1-DB1 & A2-DB2) and check the application compatibility with RAC environment ( Note- Here need to push very less db transaction data to DB servers).
4. Similar like 3 but with very high db transaction rate
Now these are the results
1. Full Success
2. Full Success
3. Full Success
4. Fail
Detail description of Case4 Failure.
When ever i am starting applications with high load, within few minutes application quesues are getting full and db instances are not able to handle load.
When i checked the Oracle ASH Report and then found following major events
1. gc buffer busy
2. gc current block busy
3. gc current multi block request
4. gc cr block 2-way
i checked the oracle documents and found three are major root cause for this issue.
-- Interconnect
-- Load issues
-- SQL Execution against a Large shared working set
But i am not sure, how i can come out from this issue.
If any one faced this issue with Oracle RAC. Please share your experience or give some suggestion to come out from this issue.
Rgds
Sumit
Bangalore,IndiaHi,
you can use fiber for interconnect, Once i have looked for this option but haven't implemented.......
in this case your global cache requests are too much. one thing more if is it possible then divide the load according to domains. like same queries on on node and other domain queries on second nodes...... e.g. reporting on node2 and oltp transations on node1.
and kindly look into it...

Hi,
i am having windows RAC, problem is when i start second instance on second server my application works drastically slow it is almost not functioning, but moment i stop second instance application works very smooth.
plz. help me to diag. the prob. and to solve this issue as this is becoming more serious.

In my database remote_login_passwordfile=EXCLUSIVE is set .(None and shared Can not be set due to Security issue.
Now My Question is I need some Authenticate Docs from Oracle Why we need to set Exclusive for OEM backup and RAC requirement .
2nd Question is I create one User for RMAN backup called "RMANBACUP" which have sysdba Permission.
Now Why you need this user has Sysdba Permission ?As I know for backup it read some sys and catalog tables ,but I need some authenticate Docs. from Oracle for our Audit purpose.
3rd Question:
Why Listener password can not be set for Oracle Fail safe . Need some Docs.hi sanjay,

Linux Oracle RAC Issues with CRS
Using the Linux Oracle RAC install guide - I've finally installed my install on Linux for the Oracle RAC. Just one problem - now after 10 mins or so - one of my nodes loses communication which barks out a PRKH-1010 error after trying to run a status check on my nodes using the srvctl status nodeapps -n <servername> command.
any clues or ways to diagnose?Hi!
The gsd relies on some files residing in /tmp/.oracle
Are they still there?
GSD is known to stop if they are absent.

Hi,
I have been able to install oracle 10gR2 clusterware on Solaris 10 successfully on node1.
However, on node2 if failed. I may be doing something wrong in the installation configuration that is causing node2 to fail. I will expolain what I did.
I configured a raw disk partition for data files and a Unix file system for the oracle cluster home. Both node1 and node2 can access raw disk and shared file system for CRS home.
Does anyone know if a single oracle cluster home can be shared between the two nodes?
or should I install two seperate oracle cluster home for each node?
The installation documentation didn't say anything. However, I am experiencing reboot on node2 once the shared disk is mounted. I was thinking if the shared mount point could cause the node2 to reboot.
Thanks for your comments,

Hi,
Oracle RAC database 10.2.0.3/RedHat4 with 2 nodes.
In the begining we had an error ORA-600[12803] so only sys can connect to database I find the note 1026653.6 this note said that we need to create AUDSES$ sequence but befor that we have to restart the database.
When we stop the datanbase we had another ORA-600 and it's impossible to start it!!

Problem with Concurrent managers in RAC environment
We have 12.1.2 EBS with 2-Node RAC
Issue is that concurrent managers needs to be restarted, incase if one of the database is down. ?
But ebs fwk pages, forms all works fine, even if one of the database node is down, but CM needs a restart
Can someone let me know what could be the problemPlease see the following docs.

can any one suggest me a best oracle book beyond documentation...
sure,
we can understand all the concepts through the documentation. have gone through clusterware administration and rac administration twice.
can any one tell me best book for troubleshooting basic oracle rac issues. and tuning the oracle rac. wait events etc.Julian Dyke RAC books are considered to be among the best RAC available books:
Pro Oracle Database 10g Rac on Linux: Installation, Administration And Performance by Julian Dyke, S Shaw
Pro Oracle Database 11g Rac on Linux by Steve Shaw,Julian Dyke,Martin Bach
However these books are not specialized in RAC troubleshooting. For RAC 10g a very good RAC wait event documentation can be found in Oracle wait interface: a practical guide to performance diagnostics & tuning by Richmond Shee,Kirtikumar Deshpande,K. Gopalakrishnan.
