Random disconnects from Windows 7 Clients - Disk is full error

Recently upgrade my XServe from 10.5.8 -> 10.6.6 -> 10.7.3 Server.
I have 6 Mac clients connecting to different sharepoints on the server with no issues at all after the upgrade.
I have 2 Windows 7 Home clients running QuickBooks attempting to connecting to their Accounting sharepoint on the server.  10.5.8 / 10.6.6 there were no issues with disconnects.  After upgrading to 10.7.3 Server and fixing the login issue, the Windows 7 clients can connect to the sharepoint.  But once or twice a day they are getting an error of "The disc or drive Z: is full." (I have the sharepoint mapped to drive Z on Windows 7).
The sharepoint is on a RAID and has over 1TB free storage.  The local hard drive in each Windows 7 client has 200-300 GB's free each.. so no drives are actually full.
Is anybody else seeing this?
Their connections are wired.. Gig Ethernet.  This was not an issue previous to Lion Server.  Only started occuring after the "upgrade" this past Saturday.

Most likely your disk is full . If you go to Preferences/Performance you are able to change your active Scratch Disks.

I have two problems with my 2012 13” MacBook Pro.
    Gray screen shows at startup
    Randomly disconnects from network.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

First, open Terminal in your Utilities folder and paste this into the prompt line:
    sudo update_dyld_shared_cache
Press RETURN. You will be prompted to enter your admin password which will not be echoed to the screen. Press RETURN again.
Next, boot the computer into Safe Mode.
    Next, do the following:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • My phone will randomly disconnect from the wifi and when I retype the password it says it is wrong. It will eventually work but I have to wait for a message to pop up on my screen to allow me to retype the wifi password.

When I first got my phone it worked perfectly fine with the wifi. Although later on I began to have problems connecting it. It will randomly disconnect from the wifi and when I try to retype the password it tells me it is wrong, although it is right. It will eventually work but in its own time, a message will pop up and allow me to type in the password and it will work. But sometimes it takes an hour or more and sometime it takes 10 minutes. I've seen where other people have had this problem but I don't know how to fix it. I'm not sure if it's an issue with my phone or if it's with my wifi. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Does this happen with all Wi-Fi hotspots?  A specific one?
Have you tried forgetting the Wi-Fi connection and then reconnecting to it?
What about power cycling the Wi-Fi router?

  • IPod Classic Randomly Disconnects from Car Stereo

I have a 160GB iPod Classic that is hooked up to my car stereo. Previously it was connected to a 2012 Kia Sorento SX and it would just randomly disconnect from the stereo and freeze. The only way to get it back was to do a hard reset (menu/select button held down), then start playing a song, and then connecting to the stereo. It didn't happen frequently, but maybe once or twice a month.  Annoying.  But I thought it had to do with the way Kia implemented the connection to the iPpd.
I just recently acquired a 2014 Acura MDX and I've already had that same annoying problem twice in 2 days. So now I'm starting to think maybe it's the iPod.
In the past, I've done a full restore, repaired the drive, etc. Nothing seemed to help.
    Any ideas?  Thanks!!

Sometimes this works. Otherwise you will have to wait for an updte to the car system or the iOS on the iPod
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset the car system
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
      - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Wifi randomly disconnects from my macbook pro running 10.9.2.

Wifi randomly disconnects from my macbook pro running 10.9.2.  Rebooting is necessary to regain the wifi connection.  The wifi power indicator indicates a full connection, but the card sees no wifi networks. I have renamed the location, deleted and reinstalled the wifi interface, moved the wifi inerface to the top, and reset the DNS.  This problem is continual and occurs with all wifi spots.   Please help.

It seems that the wifi on the computer shuts off and will not turn on until the computer has been rebooted.  Can someone poease help?

  • Please help! iMac randomly disconnects from internet. Wi-fi via BT hub. I am baffled by all of the suggestions when I google this problem! Any simple solution? Thanks!

Please Help! My brand new imac randomly disconnects from the internet. We have a BT hub - wi-fi. I have googled this issue and see that it is relatively common and it is incredibly frustrating. sadly, I have been unable to wade through the suggestions others have had as to how to solve the problem as i have no technical knowledge and am basically baffled by the list of suggestions. Please can anyone explain why this happens and what to do? It is fairly simple to reconnect each time but it is driving me mad having to. It generally happens when the computer is asleep but sometimes in the middle of doing something. Thanks!!!!!!

What frequency, security are you running? It would have been helpful if you specified in the first post.
Did you create a new Location in System Preferences->Network pane, Location pull-down. Create a new custom named Location. Then after you create that new Location click on the 'Apply' button to save that new custom named Location. See if that helps.
Lastly a lot of people have reported that WEP in lion is problmatic and it would be better to use WPA2 if you can.

  • Apple TV Randomly Disconnects From iTunes While Streaming Videos

    Hey All,
Anyone having an issue where your Apple TV randomly disconnects from your iTunes on another computer while streaming videos from it? Randomly, on different shows and movies, I have had it do it quite a few times.
In the beginning, after it would disconnect, within a few seconds, it would reconnect to iTunes and then I would have to navigate back to what I was watching and and resume it. Now, it will disconnect, and then I will have to quit iTunes on my iMac and then start it up again.
I am curious if it is an issue with the wireless adapter on the ATV because when it happens, it looks like it losses complete connection with the iTunes and then reconnects to the net only after. Then I would need to restart iTunes on my iMac to continue watching my show.
This was happening before the recent update and continues after the update as well.
    Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

You're talking about those WIFI bridges they make for xbox 360s that connect the 360 ethernet to a wifi adapter, bridging it?
That is a possible solution, but I will definitely check with Apple first, hoping it will be a no money solution (I am a grad student, every dollar helps).
My apartment is two rooms, my iMac being in another room, so that wouldn't work. The Wifi extender will probably be my only hope if Apple is not cool with the helping a brother out.

    Hi Guys,
    Thank you.
I have decided to wipe out and do a fresh installation. For time being i have altered the OS files which is not recommended to avoid automatic restart for every one hour using the below.

  • I am getting "Disk is Full" errors

Yesterday we starting getting "Disk is Full" errors on our 1TB iMac.  We have approximately 100GB of music, photos, etc., as well as the operating system and Office.  It does not seem as if this should fill up the disk.  In looking at the activity monitor, it shows that 999GB is in use, with 1GB free (approximately).  While I was watching the activity monitor, it went from 1.7 GB free down to 1GB, while nothing was being (intentionally) downloaded.  Virusbarrier did a full sweep and returned no threats; spotlight turned up no files added or modified yesterday to help identify where the space is being used.  Any hints on what is causing this?  Any tips on how to locate where these supposed "files" are being saved?

Use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space.
Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To really see everything, you have to run it as root.
First, back up all data if you haven't already done so. No matter what happens, you should be able to restore your system to the state it was in at the time of that backup.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. When you're done with it, quit it and also quit Terminal.

I keep getting the "start up disk is full" error. I've cleared as much stuff off of my system and have taken it from 4GB to now having 21GB free space. I've also reset Safari. Still no love. I don't know what else to do. Can anyone please help?

  • Start up disk space full error

    3. Check other online forums and try to empty sace.
    4. I deleted about 60-70GB worth of files from my macbook, but it still says only 1.89GB available.
    5. I have emptied by Trash at least 10 times, but all files in it are still intact.

  • Cannot save file, disk is full error

i am running indesign cs3 ver 5.0.3 and i have installed the update patch. just finished an ad, went to save, and received this error message:<br /><br />cannot save <filename> under a new name. disk is full. (error code: 4)<br /><br />any ideas? i tried rebooting, deleting the preferences for indesign. i can't export it as anything else and i can't make a print ready pdf either .... any help would be greatly appreciated!

Seems obvious, but I wonder why you didn't mention it. Maybe your hard
disk is full, or close to it? Usually "disk is full" means just that.
Your computer needs a few gigabytes of free space all the time.
First thing I'd want to do is go to each hard disk, right-click, choose
Properties, then Disk Cleanup. This will get you enough space so you can
breathe a little. Then think about ways to get more room: either a new
hard disk or get some of the old stuff archived.

  • Mac OS X Mountain Lion randomly disconnects from a Windows SMB share

First le t me say that I am still trying to diagnose if this is a hardware or software issue.  But I figured I would start here.  I work in a mixed environment with Mac's and PC's and all working together with no issues.  I deployed this Mac about 6 months ago to production.  The person using this Mac recently has been complaining of the Mac disconnecting from a Windows SMB share at random times.  The server is running Windows Server 2008R2 and has been running for 3 years.  I have other Macs on the same network connecting to it with varying operating systems ranging from 10.6 to 10.8.  None of the other Mac's are experiencing this same issue.  So I know it is isolated to this Mac.  I was wondering if there might be something in the software like a setting that needs changed that might be causing this.  Any suggestions are welcome.

I have renamed my pc and everything is ok with the file sharing SMB. Both my iMac and my pc can share files very easily.

  • Undocumented 'random disconnection' from manually connected wireless

    I have got a USB-N13 wireless-N300 dongle.
According to 'lspci -k' I have the drivers, and I have a wireless interface. So I know that my dongle has drivers but I don't know if they work 100% well.

This is all the information from when I fist see an wireless interface.
All, I can tell is that my wlp5s0u1 doesn't go down, but a few seconds before I plug in my wireless bridge, or enp4s0, my 'Internet stops...' Or I can't search google, and my youtube stops streaming, conky says that about 30bytes get transfered from that point on, and there is no errors?!
I'm not on a laptop, and my device's power saver is set to off. And as I'm not getting the second error I don't know how to fix this.
    $ iw dev wlp5s0u1 get power_save
    Power save: off
(Sorry if this is blatantly obvious, I've only had arch for under a month, with no prior Linux experience, and my dad can't help me with it too!)
    EDIT:
Please can someone please tell me something that I can try or look into to resolve this, I have a useless dongle now, and an Internet connection that drops at least 50% of the packets.

  • Office 2013 windows 'pop-under' when run as remote apps on Server 2008R2 from Windows 7 clients

We have an environment with Windows 7 clients running Office 2013 via RDS on Windows Server 2008R2.
When users double click emails from Outlook, they 'pop-under', forcing the user to relocate the window which has fallen behind the application's primary window, leaving behind a slight redraw of what is supposed to be the pop-up window. Users also experience
difficulty opening application menu/help items and any other dialogue boxes in any/all of the other Office 2013 apps we've deployed via RDS.
This issue persists only on Win7 PCs (WinXP does not exhibit this behaviour). The RDP clients range from 6.2.92 to 6.1.7601

    Hi,
Please give the new Remote Desktop Client 8.1 for Windows 7 a try when it is re-released (it was removed temporarily due to an issue with smart cards).  It has fixes related to z-order issues, which
may correct the problem you are seeing.
