Random multiple file delete query?

Hi, how do I action a random multiple file delete
Regards

Thanks GfulDedFan for info link
For your info - There is one command on that link that didn't work, which was the last instruction - after highlighting a list of files, to deselect one file press the Option key (earlier in the same demo he instructed to use the Command key which worked)

  • Writing data in Random Access File

    I was reading something about Random Access File coz I wanted to practice file handling in java. like, writing a data in a random access file, deleting the stored data, updating the stored data and search for a specific data.. I wasn't able to understand the example because the book gave a large program and it's not explained in detail. Is there any good tutorials that you could recommend for me?

    How did we get anything done before google?

  • How can I delete multiple files at a time from "Finder"

    I can't possible delete the thousands of junk files that showed up in Finder once I downloaded Maverick.  I can't delete more than one at a time now.  Why won't the highlighting stay in place on more than one file that I want to delete?

    How are you trying to select multiple files?
    What makes you think that "thousands of junk files [...] showed up in Finder once I downloaded Maverick" (or even installed it)?

  • Multiple file copies just randomly miss a few of the files

    This is something that has happened to me on all networks I've used. My home network (gigabit LAN or 802.11n), work network, and any client network I've ever been on while supporting.
    I can select say 10 files on my MBP in finder. And either copy/paste or just drag to copy onto an SMB share (windows 2003 at home for my windows home server, also 2008 and 2008 R2 servers at work and clients). And the file copy goes fine. I see the progress window, it goes and I see the files populating the network share as it progresses. It runs the normal amount of time I'd expect for the speed of the network, and when it's done I get my sound. Then anywhere from three to nine of the files just disappear off the network share as the copy finishes. So it takes the time to copy them but does not complete.
    And it's not an every time thing. And it ONLY happens with multiple files, i NEVER have a problem doing files singularly. The same files that fail in a batch go fine when I copy them one by one in the same session after it failed doing them all at once.
    No errors on the windows side of things in the logs, disks are fine. Never happens with my MBP when I do it from windows either via VMware or booting directly into boot camp.
    No errors on the mac side, for all intents and purposes it completed successfully. Yet almost every time I do group copies, only a couple actually are on that network share when all is said and done.
    No AV or firewall on the server at the moment so it happens whether I have them enabled or uninstalled. No AV on the MBP.
    And no disconnects, etc. I'm watching things in an RDP session while the copy is happening and I never lose the network, it never drops. Downloads that I sometimes have going on are working just fine, everything is just perfect in every respect as far as networking goes, except for those copying of multiple files.
    Saw someone else had disabled write caching on the windows machine to overcome an actual error they had, and i had tried that in this instance long ago to no avail.
    This has happened since I first bought the laptop in July of '09 and it was running leopard, and has continued through every single version update since. Wired or wireless...
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    hey JDThree, i'm having the SAME EXACT PROBLEM!!! i've tried restarting both my server and my MBP, and it does the job a bit, but it's so random. even doing a single file copy doesn't seem to work. i tried copying over one file, then when it finished and was on the server, i copied the next file, and it removed the first file. so strange. anybody have any ideas?

  • Delete multiple files from multiple locations using config file

    Hello All,
    I am fairly new to .net and I have to make a windows application to delete files older than 90 days from multi ple locations. these multiple locations cant be hard coded and have to be configurable, also the number of days to delete the files have to be
    configurable.
    I think the answer to this would be an app.config file. but dont know how to use the same.
    can anyone tell me about this and if possible help me out with a code snippet.?

    Add settings like picture below.  Add the string by press the double dot icon.
    The use the code below
    static void Main(string[] args)
    int deleteDays = Properties.Settings.Default.DeleteDays;
    StringCollection folders = Properties.Settings.Default.Folders;
    foreach (string folder in folders)
    DirectoryInfo info = new DirectoryInfo(folder);
    FileSystemInfo[] deleleteFiles = info.EnumerateFiles()
    .Where(x => x.LastWriteTime < DateTime.Today.AddDays(deleteDays))
    .ToArray() ;
    foreach(FileSystemInfo file in deleleteFiles)
    File.Delete(file.FullName);

  • Deleting multiple files in aperture

    How do I delete multiple files? I think it involves the apple key + another key but I cannot find a reference to it.
    Also, where is the setting for changing "primary only"?
    Thanks in advance!

    You can't select multiple items in the Project Inspector.
    To delete multiple images use the shift key to select contiguous images or the Command key to select non-contiguous images. Then press command + delete.
    Primary only is under the edit menu and there's a button with a "1" on it

  • Retaining links when deleting multiple files

    Hi there,
    I need to delete a lot of files from a project, but I don't
    want to lose the links to those topics in other files. If I delete
    a single file, Robohelp HTML displays a dialog box that gives the
    option to keep references to that file in other files. This is the
    behaviour I want to achieve.
    When I try to delete multiple files, however, Robohelp
    doesn't give the option to keep the references and the links
    disappear from other files.
    Does anyone know any way to delete mulitple files and keep
    all references to those files? I really don't want to have to
    delete every topic individually!
    Many thanks
    Kate

    Hi Rick,
    Thanks very much for that quick reply. That's a good idea - I
    don't why I didn't think of it
    I deleted some files and they disappeared from Robohelp
    before my very eyes...then I tried again in another folder and they
    didn't disappear, but nasty red crosses appeared on their icons. It
    doesn't seem to matter whether I have Robohelp open or closed - the
    red crosses appear all the time now.
    Any ideas why some topics delete seamlessly, and Robohelp
    doesn't want to let go of others?
    Cheers
    Kate

  • I have random excel files on my desktop that cannot be deleted. What are these and how can I trash them?

    I have random excel files on my desktop that cannot be deleted. What are these and how can I trash them?

    They appear as mounted DMG files.If you right click on them mdo they have an Eject entry?
    Have you set the OS to Show All Files with a terminal command? If so take that off for now.
    Look in your Home folder (Users/UserName) and then the Desktop subfolder under it. Do you see all these files/folders/drives?

  • How to - extract query result set in CSV and make multiple files if result set is huge.

    I have a query which returns millions of rows. I need to extract those rows in CSV files. Having said that i want to keep these files under a limit of 500 MB . Result set can be distributed among multiples files but each file can not be > 500 MB in size.
    How to achieve this?

  • Trying to delete multiple files with very basic VBS script

    Good day,
    I've found a script and modified it for an input box to accommodate multiple files being deleted but I'm not sure if it is capable or if I'm just using the wrong syntax within the input box:
    Script:
    Set obj = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") 'Calls the File System Object
    obj.DeleteFile inputbox("Enter files and path to be deleted") 'Deletes the file throught the DeleteFile function
    When prompted and I put just one file path to the file I want deleted it works, but if I put in multiple files and their paths either separated by colan, semi colan or space, it says "bad file path or number".  If anyone knows of a VBS
    or powershell script that references a text file or .csv spreadsheet that would be sooper handy!
    Many thanks - RP
    berto

    Thank you Bill!
    Sounds like I need a different method all together.  I found this script that references a .csv file with the folder paths and file names; does it seem legit to you guys?  Also for files that are past the 256 UNC character length, is there a work
    around for that?
    12
    $files = Get-Content "C:\scripts\delete-files.csv"
    13
    14
    foreach ($file in $files) {
    15
        Remove-Item -Path
    $file -force
    16
    17
    18
    write-host -foregroundcolor yellow "Delete action complete"
    berto
    Try this to see:
    $files = Get-Content "C:\scripts\delete-files.csv"
    foreach ($file in $files) {
    Remove-Item -Path $file -force -WhatIf
    write-host -foregroundcolor yellow "Delete action complete"
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • PowerShell - Deleting multiple files that contain a specific phrase.

    Hi all,
    Can anyone show me an example of how to remove multiple files that contain the same phrase.
    I would like to search through each text file in the folder C:\temp\PS  for the following phrase ""Not a valid request while running in standby mode." and if this phrase exists delete the text file(s).
     Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.
    Gaz

    Hi Gaz,
    Give this a try:
    $string = 'Not a valid request while running in standby mode.'
    Get-ChildItem C:\Temp\PS *.txt | ForEach {
    If ( (Get-Content $_).Contains($string)) { $_ | Remove-Item }
    EDIT: And I should always refresh the page first..... Oh well.

  • How to store multiple files from SAp in to Application server?

    Hi Guys,
                 Can anybody tell me how to store multiple files from SAP into Application server.in my application i have to get the data from SAP tables BSEG , BKPF , BSAK and BSIK that to daily i have to do.
                Any Logic  or Code for how to do is welcomed.
                        plz help me urgently.
    Thanks,
    Gopi

    Hi,
      directories creates basis. If you have task to store data in application server you already should have information into which folder you have to do it. If you don't have this information because it is just for example training for next task then you can use your personal folder into which you have access. To get list of all available folders please look at attached code and form get_directories (you get the list of folders you see in transaction AL11). But don't forget: If you are using open dataset you have to have rights to access application folder!
    Here you are code which I use to upload text files from local disc into application folder

  • Itunes points to wrong files - points to random system files instead of mp3

    I noticed this about a year and a half ago when my ipod would have an error that some of the files couldnt be transfrered. Upon further inspection, it seems itunes occasionally gets confused about where files are located. The files will look fine in itunes but wont play. If I right click on them and chose "show in finder" the file that should be an mp3 in my library, is actually pointed at ical/contents/resources/italian.Ipoj/iCal Help/gfx/priority.gif
    Which is totally bonkers. It's a totally random operating file.
    Now I could go in and delete and re-import these files. Eventually that is what I have ended up doing in the past. But now it's happened to about 700 files (out of about 18,000) and it would take a century for me to go through each track and find out which ones that has happened to.
    I know there are some applescripts out there for missing and dead tracks, but I can't seem to find one that just checks that we're pointing to the CORRECT file. keep in mind, these correct files actually are where they are supposed to be. Itunes is just linking to the wrong files.

    I am experiencing the same problem and after restoring from backup I either still have some wrong pointers or the problem is returning.
    One way to find out which tracks are pointing to random files is to sync your whole music library either in one go if it's small enough or in parts to an iphone or ipod. You will then get a dialog with all the files that won't play on the device.
    How do I relink them manually? Can't work it out.

  • HT1473 How do I get iTunes to download an entire album in one file versus splitting it into multiple files with the same Album Title?

    I have added several CDs to my iTunes files, several Albums were added in the form of multiple files of the same Album title with random songs listed, but not the entire album in one file.
    I have tried to reassemble the Album into one file, but could not find a way to do so.

    Generally setting a common Album title and Album Artist will fix things.
    For deeper problems see Grouping tracks into albums.

  • How do I stop DW CS6 randomly changing file permissions via FTP?

    How do I stop Dreamweaver CS6 12.0.1.5842 randomly changing file permissions when it uploads files to my web server via FTP.
    I can no longer trust Dreamweaver to upload websites correctly as it changes permissions on some files which then deny the server access to the file which in turn makes the webpage unreachable/return a 403 error.
    This is driving me insane.
    I'm using an early 2011 Macbook Pro 10.7.5.

    Hi,
    I'm having this problem too. Has Adobe fixed the issue yet? This appears to be an Adobe problem, not all the web hosts out there. CS6 is ramdomly (meaning: not every time) changing permissions on files uploaded with it and is not usable for web work until this problem is fixed by Adobe or a solution is provided. If I wanted to use a separate FTP program I would not have recommended that my employer buy multiple Adobe CS6 product licenses. One of the primary appeals of DW is the integration of FTP into the workflow.
    I am using a destop iMac2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 gigs of 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
    OSX 10.7.5
    I am using DW Version 12 Build: 5808
    Dreamweaver CS4 that I was using until this new purchase was working just fine. No file permisssion changes. I am being forced to go back to using it until Adobe posts a fix for this.
    I should ask while I'm here: has anyone found a solution for this yet?
    Thanks,
    -c-
