Is there a way to create a random text generator in AE 4 ?

Hi all,
I'm a new user of an old version of After Effects 4.1 on Windows 7.
I just gained the help on this forum to create a digital clock countdown with the Numbers Effect and the Timecode 30 setting in AE 4 and I noticed that there is a random numbers generator in that effect too.
But now I'm in the Text Effect and I'm able to put my text/title on the solid layer in a composition and apply some MM scripts to the text... mainly I've just been able to use the 'Blink' script and manipulate that script a little to make it flash faster or slower.
Since AE 4 cannot use .jsx scripts or Expressions, I guess I'm limited to MM scripts (which I've been searching for) and the built-in plug-ins and effects... but I can't find a random text generator... like where the text scrambles as if it is trying to break a code. This effect that I'm trying for would be similar to a scrambled text effect generated in Swish or other FLASH text effect generators.
So if anyone knows how to create a scrambled or random text effect in the old After Effects 4.1, please let me know.

Yes, I'm using AE 4.1, per my explanation in my other posts about the timecode effect and codecs.
Since there is a built-in random number generator in AE 4.1 that is part of the Numbers Effect, I thought there may still be an after market Effect, plug-in or mm script for a random text generator.
I've been searching the web, but its a big place.

Cannot print -- random text & blank pages when printing -- HP Color Laserjet 3600N

I'm having some trouble connecting my computer and printer via a network connection. The printer functions fine among other computers (Mac, PC) connected via a network connection, but one particular MacBook is giving me trouble.
I can get the printer and laptop to connect, however when I try to print, it gets buggy on me. Usually it will print a page with some random text, followed by an excess amount of blank pages, then another page with text similar to the first. The text usually has information including font types and other formatting data, but not what was "printed."
I have tried to update the printer drivers, but I cannot get the printer utility to utalize them. After installing the most recent drivers, it will continue to suggest the generic laser printer drivers (1.0 verison), or I can choose other printer drivers (including "base" 3000 model drivers), but the 3600N drivers are not avalible on the list. Both the generic drivers and the HP drivers give me the random text upon printouts.
The laptop is a MacBook Pro with 10.6.
What is the best course of action to remedy the printer problem?

Over the holidays, I spent a couple of hours on the phone with HP, a couple with Microsoft, and previously with Apple. Microsoft said they are working on updates, should be fixed by the release of Office 2008. Apple says there's a compatibility issue among the HP printer and Leopard and "some" programs. HP tells me it's an "old" printer (which they were happy to sell me in April 2007) and they may not release new drivers. HP also says Apple knows there are printing issues.
In the meantime, I'm using Pages and shopping for a new non-HP printer.

There are a lot of posts in the forums today with people having problems with iMessage. There was also a published outage yesterday, so it's possible there are still some issues that may be impacting you both.
I would just wait it out - I'm sure it will be sorted out soon.

How to populate an array with random text files.

I am making a Jeopardy program. I have my program set up so that it retrieves 5 random text files. I just want to know how I populate one array with all the lines from the text files my program is retrieving.

You can read a textfile line by line and add each line to an ArrayList. An ArrayList is very much like an array only that it's "open ended". You can start adding lines without first knowing how many you're going to get. If you still want an ordinary "static" array when you're finished reading lines you can easily get one from the ArrayList and then drop the ArrayList.

Best way to use CSS in random text

Mick White recommended this script for displaying random
text. Is there a way to mod this so that it's can show multiple CSS
styles (one style for the quote and one for the name)? Or should I
do this another way? (I'm not great with databases yet.) Thanks!

Random text changes in Photoshop CS6 Beta

Hey all,
I got a problem in PS CS6 Beta. When I try to change some text immediately after I click on text with type tool the text changes to some random text from my PSD file. So I'm unable to edit any texts in my PSD. I've tried to reset photoshop settings and also delete system font chache. This happens only in some of my PSDs. If I open a new file type tool works fine but I need my old ones as well.
I've also tried open those PSDs in CS5 or on the other computers (macs and windows) but the problem remain the same.
Does any of you have this problem? Any fixes?

Yeah, I used to see multiple type styles but then I reseted photoshop preferences, deleted font cache and used "resolve duplicates" option in font book (mac). Now I don't see multiple type styles but I still can't edit any type.
Reset preferences.
Perform this step after experiencing the crash. It's also a good idea to restart your computer after your computer crashes.
Hold the Cmd+Opt+Shift keys down immediately after starting Photoshop. Click OK in the dialog box that asks if you want to delete the Adobe Photoshop settings file.
Photoshop's font cache.
After you quit Photoshop, open the /Users/[user name]/Library/Caches/Adobe folder.
Drag the TypeSupport folder to the trash and empty the trash.

Zoom In Random text behaviour

If I drag this onto text and turn off Random, text zooms in as expected - starting at the left and heading right.
Switching the direction to Right to Left, text now zooms from right to left but it zooms out instead of in.
Is this expected? I thought the direction would change the order of the characters rather than whether the transition was going inwards or outwards.

Thank you very much! The Right to Left value seems a bit nonsensical in view of that. There's bound to be a reason for that value's name, but it looks like - at least with other parameters set on the defaults - the values for Direction are better described as Inwards and Outwards.

Reset, hold at same time Home and Power buttons until the iPhone restarts itself. If you have a screen protector on, consider removing it.

Printing PDF from 6500A gives random text

I have a new 6500A Plus officejet printer.
If I preview a PDF on screen it is fine but when I send it to print sometimes the PDF does not print correctly with any text replaced with random characters. If I still have the PDF open on my screen and send to the printer again it usually prints OK.
Has anyone else had this issue and are there any suggestions on a fix?

This error occurred a few minutes ago on a friends print-out using a 6500A.
According to what I've seen on the web, this error occurs on different Windows and Macs OSs.
This error occurs on different brand printers and computers with different Adobe versions.
Of course I've never had this error never occurred on my old HP 2710, that I hope to get rid of and only use my new HP 6500A.
Look at the so-called random print-out. Is each character one letter or number advanced than it should?
Such as '258' is printing as '369'.
2 prints 3
5 prints 6
8 prints 9
Another example, the word 'below' is printed as 'cfmpx'
b prints c
e prints f
l prints m
o prints p
w prints x
If this is the case, then it is not printing random text, but advancing the ACII character by +1, thus wasting a lot of time, ink and paper. Some support pages offered the option of 'printing as image', though I can not locate the option to do this with the 6500A.
Anyone else have the answer to the glitch?

Random text with links using Javascript?

I have a very simple script I downloaded that makes text random using javascript. I would like to add a hypertext link on parts of the text, but can't seem to get it to work.
Would anyone be so kind as to show me how this can be done. I would like to add links to the "Random text string 1.", Random text string 2. etc., within the javascript below.

I actually don't know if this will work, but what if you added <a href> coding around your text line? You might need \ escape characters so that your script sends it out without trying to execute it as code.

Attach letter random text at side

I received an interview letter via email as attachment when I open it, it displays random text down from the top left hand side to the 3/4 of the letter. When I view it on the PC is does not appear like that it just appears like a normal letter.
I open it via double clicking on the icon at the bottom of the page. It came as a doc. Other letters do the same apart from PDF emails attachment.
Is this a common error and are apple aware of it?

IPhone 4: Since updated it sends randoms texts multiple (repeat) times to contacts

Hi All; my issue is since i updated the phone to the newer software (its currently up to date as of now) my phone will randomly pick texts in a conversation and send them multiple times to the same person. For example, yesterday in the afternoon I text John about a football game. At 11pm when we were not texting each other 3 or so of the text messages popped up on his phone again as NEW incoming texts. I thought it might have been his phone but this has happened to 9 other people that I regularly text. This has been ongoing for a week or so and it decides random text and random times to send them. Has anyone else had this problem? For me it started when after I updated to the new OS. Can someone suggest the best method to solve this because my customers are getting irritated and dont know which message are the new ones. Thanks!

Trying to edit a document in Acrobat and random text types instead of what is actually typed.

I just reinstalled Acrobat for a user because of a bug that caused Acrobat to not open. I then installed the patch to fix it and it opens fine now.
Now when the user tries to edit text in a PDF, it just types in garbage text. I tried to update 2010 to 2013 on a different document and it changes to “201 )”. The text is completely random. The same thing happens if I paste the text as well.
Can anyone help me resolve this?

I have now tried the following with no luck.
Reinstalling Acrobat
Repairing Acrobat
updating Acrobat to the latest version
Uninstalling the font and reinstalling
Windows system restore to before the issue started happening
Created a new windows user profile
The issue does not happen if I type into any other document type. It is just an issue with PDF files in Acrobat. I tried logging in as a different user on the computer and the same issue happened.
Any help would be appreciated.
