Dear Experts,
We are trying to extract CRM data into BI,  the Datasource  have a field type 'RAW' . In BI which data type to consider for this field to info object mapping. Pls let me know.
I've taken infoobject of type CHAR with length 60, still getting error in transformations.
Thanks in advance.

  • URGENT: Illegal Argument Exception for  RAW data type in Web Dynpro

I am getting this error in the following scenario.
I want to save the text fields from an interactive form to SAP through RFC enabled function module. The type in the model and controller is byte[]. I have converted the string attribute from view to save to the model. But the model dictionary in Web Dynpro project (model) has this type as Binary (meta data model through EFC). The type in SAP is RAW. I am going nuts since a week to solve this.
    IS this a bug? I am using NW04s - SP12. and NWDS 7.0.9
    Exception Details:
The initial exception that caused the request to fail, was:
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException

    at com.sap.dictionary.runtime.DdTypeBinary.toString(DdTypeBinary.java:64)

Issue with the RAW data types is resolved now. I have changed the data type of the field into String in the dictionary (web dynpro).. I have changed the corresponding getters and setter functions from byte[] to string. And everything working fine now. I got the Illegal Argument exception initially because I was trying to display the binary data type fields on the adobe form or view which I am not supposed to do.
Also it is better to create separate view attributes in the context to get the values rather than mapping the model attributes directly in the form or view.
    Thank you one and all.

  • JCO reading abap RAW data type (truncating?)

Does anyone have experience reading an Abap RAW data type using JCO?  I am trying to read a GUID (via RFC_READ_TABLE) that is defined as RAW length 16.  When I view this field in SAP GUI, I see 32 characters.  However, when I read this field using JCO, I only see the first 16 characters.
The mapping documents state Abap RAW maps to a Java byte array.  I have tried that - no luck.  I have used the constructor of a string that takes a byte array - no luck.  I have made sure my character set is UTF-8 in case Unicode was a possibility.  I have turned on tracing to level 8 and only see 16 characters in the output.  I need the other 16 characters as all 32 characters are used as the primary key into other tables.
I also posted this on the ABAP Java Development space.  I know the rule about not cross-posting, but I wasn't sure which was a better place to post something like this.  This my first post on here, so my apologies in advance.

Thanks for responding.  Unfortunately, the export parameter list is null. There are no export parameters.  However, there are tables.  I have tried:
    byte[] byteArray = funct.getTableParameterList().getTable("DATA").getByteArray(0);
My SE16 query only returns one field: GUID.
I only get 16 bytes back even though GUID is defined as raw length 32.
Is there something I else I should try?  Do you see an error in my code?
    Thanks again,
    Larry

  • Handling RAW data types (from SAP) in Adobe forms - Illegal Arg Exception

    Hi,
I have a scenario where I have to get data of type RAW in SAP to Adobe Forms using web dynpro java. What is the corresponding type in Web Dynpro / Adobe Forms.
I am using Adaptive RFC and when I get the model from SAP function module, the RAW type is created as Binary type in the data dictionary of Web Dynpro.
When I map the model context to controller context, the type is taken as byte[].
I tried to set the attribute for this field and I got the Illegal Argument Exception error.

  • Issue with Oracle LONG RAW data type

    Hi All,
I am facing some issues with Oracle LONG RAW DATA Type.
We are using Oracle 9IR2 Database.
I got a table having LONG RAW column and I need to transfer the same into another table having LONG RAW column.
When I tried using INSERT INTO SELECT * command (or) CREATE TABLE as select * , it is throwing ORA-00997: illegal use of LONG datatype.
I have gone through some docs and found we should not use LONG RAW using these operations.
So I did some basic PLSQL block given below and I was able to insert most of the records. But records where the LONG RAW file is like 7O kb, the inserting is faliling.
I tried to convert LONG RAW to BLOB and again for the record where the LONG RAW is big in size I am getting (ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error) error.
Appreciate if anyone can help me out here.

  • How to read a file with value of RAW data type? Please help

    Hi Experts,
I  have a file with RAW data like DE864E48833BFFF1B805001CC4EF4BFA
       I am using GUI_UPLOAD.
But this FM is throwing error.
I tried by giving FILETYPE as ASC. The output internal table for this FM contains a field of type c size 32.
Now it is able to read the file but I want to assign this value to a RAW data type variable.
This it is unable to do. How to convert the char value to RAW data type?
    Please help!
    Thanks
    Gopal

    Hi,
The documentation for the function module contains an example for RAW upload.
                begin of itab,
                      raw(255) type x,
                end of itab occurs 0.
               CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_UPLOAD'
               exporting
                  filetype =  'BIN'
                  filename = 'C:\DOWNLOAD.BIN'
               tables
                 data_tab = itab.

  • Comparing two GUID of ABAP raw data type in Web Dynpro

    Hello,
I am working with a CRM application. I want to fill a table with each column from different tables.
For that I am trying to compare the GUID of each table. But I am not successful as the GUID is of RAW data type. How can I compare them in Web Dynpro Java?.
    Thanks,
    Sunita.

    Hi,
I have been able to get rid of the problem posed in my earlier mail about assigning values from a field symbol to an internal table. Now its back to the same old problem.
As mentioned earlier I have a view1 in which I am populating a range (select option), which I want to display on the next view, view2.
On view1, on click of the button, I have populated internal table I_RANGE2.
DATA: IT_RANGE2 TYPE TABLE OF ZTTRANGE.
ZTTRANGE is a table type in SE11 with linetype as ZRANGE (structure in SE11).
I want to pass I_RANGE2 to the method in the component controller:
    WD_COMP_CONTROLLER->HOLD_DATA( CHANGING IT_RANGE = IT_RANGE2 ).
In the component controller the parameter IT_RANGE has been declared as
    PARAMETER             TYPE                REFTo             Associated Type
    IT_RANGE                 Changing              u221A (Tick)                ZTTRANGE
But I am getting an error:
IT_RANGE2 is not type-compatible with formal parameter IT_RANGE.
    Please help resolve this error.

  • Data change after call xml transformation for RAW data type

    Hi,
Can someone explain what is workarround or any help for below problem
when call transformation is called for usr02 records, after xml string is generated is showing different data for RAW data type for example content of fields BCODE,PASSCODE etc get convert into different data
for example: content of BCODE fields before xml transformation say -7F8087472FB996E5
after xml transformation it display as f4CHRy+5luU=
why is this so happening?  is this known behaviour after xml transformation or it is bug in xml transformation?
    thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    John.

    Hi,
I think this is because RAW data is BASE64 encoded when using CALL TRANSFORMATION.
Old post, but did you ever find a way to change that?
    Thanks

  • Select Long Raw data type is so slow?

    Hi
I have a table having Long Raw data type field. It's store
more than 2mb per record. But,I need to select others fields in this table without selecting Long Raw field.
anyway,it's so slow for me. Any advise to me?
    thx a lot. :)

I do not understand what you mean because if you have this table ( Example ):
    c1 number
    c2 number
    c3 long
    you can do this: select c1, c2 from <table_name>;

  • Problem loading PostgreSQL Bytea data type to Oracle Raw data type

We are migrating our database from PostgreSQL to Oracle. First, we convert the BYTEA data type in PostgreSQL to Oracle RAW. The BYTEA data type is variable bytes array. How can we load the BYTEA data type to Oracle RAW data type? Or I have to convert to different data type. thanks.
    Peter,

    hi,
Instead of 'interval day to second' in method declaration use internal datatype 'DSINTERVAL_UNCONSTRAINED'.
There are more unconstrained types in oracle.

  • ABAP Data type to XI data type mapping

    Hi,
I am creating a message type in XI corresponding to a ABAP structure. There are couple of data types on the ABAP side (for example: RAW, QUAN, CURR CUKY, UNIT, NUMC etc) which i have no idea on what it should be mapped to on the XI side(xsd:string, xsd:token, xsd:int etc).
Is there is any document on mapping from ABAP data type to XML data type ? if yes please send it across.([email protected])
if no doc available, if some body could let me know what these ABAP data type would map on the XI side it would great.
    Best Regards,
    Kiran

    Hi Kiran,
just some more background information to the data types CURR, CUKY, QUAN, UNIT:
    1) Each field of data type CURR must be assigned to a field of data type CUKY (the financial amount must be assigned to a currency) and each field of data type QUAN must be assigned to a field of data type UNIT (each quantity must have a dimension). If you want to know this assignment for your specific ABAP structure, you can find it using transaction SE11 with your ABAP structure and go to the tab <i>Currency/Quantity fields</i>. Here you find the information under <i>Reference table</i> and <i>Ref. field</i>.
    2) The default number of decimals for a field of data type CURR is 2, but this can be overwritten by the assigned CUKY field. You can check the actual number of decimals for a specific currency with transaction OY04. Here are all currency list that do <b>not</b> have 2 decimals.
    3) The default number of decimals for a field of data type QUAN is 3, but this can be overwritten by the assigned UNIT field. You can check the actual number of decimals for a specific unit with transaction CUNI. Click on <i>Units of measurement</i> (pick the correct dimension first), double click on your unit and you find the info in the field <i>Decimal places</i>.
    4) Depending on the data you receive your conversions can get quite tricky. Lets take as an example a field of type CURR. If you find the value 1000 in there, this would convert to 10.00 USD if the assigned CUKY field contains the value USD (US dollar). But the same value ca represent 1000 JPY (Japanese Yen) if the assigned CUKY field contains the value JPY. What i try to say is that the value in the field of type CURR alone does not give you the actual amount, you have to know the value of the CUKY field as well. Similar for QUAN and UNIT.

I have already looked at blog http://weblogs.java.net/blog/kohlert/archive/2006/10/jaxws_and_type.html but unable to solve this issue. However, at run time using a tool like SoapUI, when this wsdl is imported, I am able to see all the params related to AccountIC class.
Can some one help me with this.
    Thanks,
    Sudha.

Did you try adding the the XmlSeeAlso annotation to the webservice
    @XmlSeeAlso({<package.name>.AccountIC.class})
This will add the schema for the data type (AccountIC) to the WSDL.
    Hope this helps.

  • Message Data Type mapping

    Hello there,
My scenario is SOAP-XI-SOAP.  After doing configuration, I was alble to send the message to server.  However, I was not able retrieve data at return.
The following are two xml message that I got from server response and from XI.
    1. From SERVER response message.
    <ns1:doSpellingSuggestionResponse xmlns:ns1='urn:GoogleSearch' xmlns:SOAP='http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/' SOAP:actor='http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/' xmlns:xsd='http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema' xmlns:soapenv='http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/' xmlns:xsi='http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance'><return xsi:type='xsd:string'>Yahoo!!!</return></ns1:doSpellingSuggestionResponse>
    2. From XI
    <ns:doSpellingSuggestionResponse xmlns:ns="http://xi.com/googlesearch"></ns:doSpellingSuggestionResponse>
I believe there is something wrong with my data type definition at XI design.  I followed the example "How To… Use the XI 3.0 SOAP Adapter".
Would anyone please tell me how to define Data Type at XI for data response?  Besides, does it have anything to do with Mapping Template.
      Please advise.
      Thank you very much.
    trith.

    Satish,
I agree with you.  I saw the difference between the response message at the Message Mapping and Message response :
At Message Mapping, the xml message is displayed as :
    <ns0:return xmlns:ns0="urn:GoogleSearch"/>
At runtime, the message response is:
    <ns1:doSpellingSuggestionResponse xmlns:ns1='urn:GoogleSearch' xmlns:SOAP='http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/' SOAP:actor='http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/' xmlns:xsd='http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema' xmlns:soapenv='http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/' xmlns:xsi='http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance'><return xsi:type='xsd:string'>Yahoo!!!</return></ns1:doSpellingSuggestionResponse>
The wsdl external definition which I got from :
    http://api.google.com/GoogleSearch.wsdl
If you said there is some problem with xsd, how I am supposed to fix that?  Would you please give me more hints?
      Thank you very much.
    trith.

  • Data Type Mapping from SQL server to Oracle

I am using Oracle 12c with heterogenous services connecting to SQL server DB. Some of the columns in the SQL server SB are defined as 'nvarchar(max)'. These are coming over to Oracle as 'long' type columns. I would like these to be 'varchar2' types in Oracle so I do not have any of the restrictions related to 'long' type fields when using. I can create a view in SQlServer to convert the data type ie. nvarchar(100). What is the highest value I can use to make the data show in Oracle as varchar? BTW  I tried nvarchar(4000) but that still showed as long. I tried nvarchar(1000), and that did show as varchar.

The maximum value for a nvarchar2 in Oracle is 2000. The mapping -if the remote column is mapped to an Oracle varchar/nvarchar- depends on the data type returned by the ODBC driver. When the driver returns SQL_Varchar, then the maximum precision is 4000 and when it will map it to SQL_WVarchar then it is 2000.
As your Oracle database uses AL32UTF8 as character set you will get the nvarchar(max) mapped to Oracle longs as the content of your SQL Server nvarchar is stored using UCS2 character set which is covered by the Oracle database charset UTF8. So it shouldn't really matter if the returned string is mapped to an Oracle varchar or nvarchar.

    Hi,
I started a new web service design using a pre-defined Schema. I created a schema project and use XML bean as my web service method parameter.
It works fine in workshop test IDE. But when I deployed it and tried to generate client jar, it gave me Failed to do type mapping error.
What steps I should do to fix this non-build-in data type problem?
    thanks
