Raw pointer access to in-memory tables

Hello, I realize this is quite an odd question, but I was wondering if it's possible to obtain raw pointers to rows stored in an in-memory table introduced in SQL Server 2014.
What I am trying to do is to use AMD Kaveri APU in conjunction with SQL Server 2014. The APU has 500+ shader cores that can perform an operation on a piece of memory in parallel, and since SQL Server 2014 already keeps these tables in memory, I was hoping
there is a way to reference these tables directly via pointers that can be used by APU cores (I could create wrapper code in CLR if needed) rather than taking data out of the database and creating in-memory arrays. All data types I am interested in are fixed
length (doubles) and tables can be locked in the "read-only" state while read operations take place.
Is it possible to access in-memory tables via raw pointers?

I have been learning oracle for about 1.5 years and am just starting to learn some OTG pieces. I am wondering about an issue. The issue is:
"We need help with an issue we are having while accessing a SQL Server table over OTG. We are getting the following error message in Oracle :
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:

The column it is failing on is "-----------" in the view --------------- in the SQL Server database pointed to by the Oracle DB Link ------------------- thats created in the Oracle instances ---- and -----.
This was working before, but is now failing, we suspect its due to new multi-byte data being added to the base table in the above column."
I took out the details and added ---- instead. I am wondering your guys thoughts on fixing this issue and helping me learn along the way. Thanks

1. What is the character set of the Oracle RDBMS being used. What is returned by -
select * from nls_database_parameters;
NLS_CHARACTERSET
AL32UTF8
NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET
UTF8
We get SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_C1_AS and 1252 as Collation Property and Code Page
The datatype of the column in question in SQL Server is nvarchar(100).
When I do a describe on the SQL Server view ( desc CK_DATA_FOR_OPL@------- ), I get the error below;
ERROR: object CK_DATA_FOR_OPL does not exist
Select * from CK_DATA_FOR_OPL@------ where rownum =1 does get me a row.
create table tmp_tab as
Select * from CK_DATA_FOR_OPL@----- where rownum =1;
desc tmp_tab shows the datatype of the said column in the table created in Oracle as NVARCHAR2(150).
Not sure why a column defined with size 100 in SQL Server should come across as 150 when seen over OTG. We see something similar in DB2 tables we access over OTG as well.

Can ABAP program and a Java apps access the same DB table?

If an ABAP program and a Java apps access the same DB table, how does the Enqueue services from ABAP and Java communicate with each other to ensure locking consistency (if they even communicate with each otehr at all)?
Or there wont be such situation because there are separate schema for ABAP stack and Java stack?
Your help is greatly appreciated.

A while ago I was a subject to criticism too for not granting points to helpfull answers. I appeared to be ungratefull, but I'm actually not (I guess the same goes for Vincent). I absolutely agree that good people who provide helpfull answers deserve (at least) points, but I didn't quite get the whole idea with points untill I was explicitly warned. I took some time to correct this and I granted points for all my past questions, generously, with "interest rates" for waiting.
My point is:
The pointing system is good, but unintuitive and not documented. I suggested this at that time, and I see that nothing has changed since. I see also that I'm not the only one who has experienced missunderstandings.
I repeat the message to SDN people: Please provide some info on pointing system! A few sentences behind a "What's this?" link would do. It's not such a hard work.

Read-Only Access to Specific SAP tables

Is it possible to grant a user read-only access to a specific table or tables?
For example, say I wanted to give someone SE16N capability for just EKKO/EKPO/EKBE and NO OTHER tables. Is this possible? How?

as it was mentioned the transaction SE16N checks for authorization object S_TABU_DIS. The problem in your case is that the tables EKKO, EKPO and EKBE are already assigned to the authorization group MA - MM Appl. table. But there are many more tables assigned to this group. Changing assignment of standard tables is not a good idea.

Accessing ID Value Mapping table in XSLT

In the XSLT mapping,I would like to access my value mapping table which i defined in ID .The purpose of ID value mapping here is, the table entries will be changing in future and i don want to use fix values, XML table which is defined in runtime.
I have gone through the blog

you can use the xivmService to call ID val map tables.
Use tha java function executeMapping, Its a standard SAP api.
Declare the Service in XSLT at start

Crystal Reports: access to SAP BW tables in own namespace

Hi BO experts
we are running XI3.1 SP2 including reporting tools, integration kit and so on. The installation and the integration to SAP BW is working properly for most szenarios.
Starting from Crystal Reports we would like to access a SAP BW table which was generated in an own namespace. By starting the database assistant we are connecting with the driver "SAP-tables,-clusters,or -functions" and see some tables in "DD (data lexicon)". But we can not find the self generated table in there. It is only possible to access the tables in namespace "/1CPMB/", "/B28/" and "/BI0/".
How can we access tables from another namespace? Are there any restrictions for accessing SAP BW tables, e.g. namespace, configuration, settings etc.to stick to?

Hi Markus,
just go to the Database Expert, select the connection to your BW server on the left window, press the right mouse button and choose Options from the context menu. In the field Table name LIKE: you can restrict the names of the displayed tables:
eg. assuming your namespace is /ZMYNSP then just give there /ZMYNSP% ( % is a wildcard)
Close then the Options window and choose Refresh using again the context menu (or just press F5)
CR can only display a limited number of tables when you expand your BW System and by using the Options panel as described above you can let the system display exaclty the tables you need.

Hi Vamsi,
1) You can use the function module : CU_READ_RGDIR
In this function module you can pass PERNR and you can get SEQNR(Sequence No) or you can take the sequence no from any transparent table also.
2)After getting the sequence NO Pass the employee NO and Sequence NO in the function module : PYXX_READ_PAYROLL_RESULT.
From this function module you can get the RT,BTand CRT Table results.

Answers pointing to a Particular Fact table only

I have an issue. Actually i have some attribute dimension tables which are connected to many fact tables and are used in different subject area. Previously it was working fine as subject areas were using the fact table available in tht subject area. But now when i am not using any fact table to show result rather taking only dimension to see result it is throwing one error telling tht for X fact table there is no mapping for the corresponding dimension table. But the pity is tht i vent used tht fact table atall in tht subject area. Now its throwing the same error for many Subject area which ve the same dimension table. And another thing is tht when i am changing the combination means sequence of columns in request its nt showing view display error but for a particular combination sequence in all subject area its throwing the error by pointing to a Pariculat fact table showing no mapping is ther.

I think you have to check your (Business) Model again. Do you get warnings when you run a concistency check?
You could force a Subject Area to us a particular Fact Table by defining an implicit fact column on your Subject Area.

Hi Digesh,
If your requirement is to restrict the excess to specific rows it is possible to use S_TABU_LIN, but it works only for table which contains org units, like plant, company code, etc.
Please search for S_TABU_LIN if this is your requirement.

Public synonyms have their place, but are not generally a good idea as they will cause conflicts with other schemas and applications. Another think that you can do is issue the
ALTER SESSION set CURRENT_SCHEMA = schema;
The CURRENT_SCHEMA (8i and above) parameter changes the current schema of the session to the specified schema. Subsequent nqualified references to schema objects during the session will resolve to objects in the specified schema. The setting persists for the duration of the session or until you issue another ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA statement. CURRENT_SCHEMA is a session parameter only, not an initialization parameter.
This setting offers a convenient way to perform operations on objects in a schema other than that of the current user without having to qualify the objects with the schema name. This setting changes the current schema, but it does not change the session user or the current user, nor does it give you any additional system or object privileges for the session.

Unnesting XML and memory tables

I'm having issues with unnesting incoming XML messages within a real time job. The XML is being partially unnested into intermediate memory tables, and the intermediate memory tables are used to populate physical database tables. This works fine on a small scale - if I only have a few physical tables to populate, it works as planned. However, when I increase the complexity of the job, the job will begin to execute and then just stop and 'hang'. There are no error messages, and the log for that job has a blue tick next to it - but the job never completes.
I've had a look through the technical help file with BODI, and searched this forum, but can't find anything which mentions the situation above. Is it likely to be a memory issue? Or is there some upper limit on the number of objects used within a real time BODI job?
Has anyone experienced these issues before, and found a resolution? Any suggestions would be greatly appeciated, as I need a solution pretty urgently. Thanks in advance.

In real-time jobs, the whole job is executed in one al_engine process, this includes all data processing, but also the memory tables. It's started once and stays active the whole time to treat incoming messages.
This is different for batch jobs where each data flow is a seperate process, and data flows are started in series or parallel depending on the job design, once finished processing they disappear again.
So for your real-time job this means the whole processing can only use a maximum of 2 GB of memory (upper limit for 32-bit processes). Upgrading to DI 11.7 would give you more options like using pageable cache which will use disk space as additional memory to overcome the 2 GB limitation. But the first thing to check would be the amount of memory used - I'm just assuming here you need more then 2 GB, you can easily check this via the Windows task manager. Which DI versions are you using ? Is this on Windows ?
