RD web access 3 passwords to connect

I am setting up a new remote desktop access gateway to allow users to connect to their local desktops. I have it working but it requires 3 logins to connect. 1 for the web access, 2. for the RD gateway and then to the PC. Is there a way to streamline that
down to one or two password prompts?
-Ben

Hi Ben,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Initially suggest you to update RDP 8.1 which will work better for this scenario.
Yes, there is a way to reduce the number of password prompt, here you need to enable RD Web Access Single Sign-On (SSO), where the password will be saved and need to enter the credential for single time.
There are certain requirements for this feature, as follow.
• To take advantage of the new Web SSO feature, the client must be running Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) 7.0.
• In order for Web SSO to work:
1. The connection in RemoteApp and Desktop Connections must have an ID. By default, it is set to the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the RD Connection Broker server in case of RD Connection Broker mode. In RD Session mode, it is set to the FQDN of the
RD Web Access server.
2. RemoteApp programs must be digitally signed using a Server Authentication certificate [Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate]. The certificate Enhanced Key Usage section must contain ‘Server Authentication (1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.1)’. More details about the types
of certificates used to digitally sign RemoteApp programs can be found here.
3. Client operating systems must trust the certificate with which the RemoteApp programs are signed.

  • Small Business Server 2011 Essentials Remote Web Access fails to connect to Windows 8.1 PC

I am using Remote Web Access (RWA) gateway with Small Business Server 2011 Essentials.
There are several workstations all running Windows 7, and have been using RWA without an issue for well over a year.
There is now a Windows 8.1 Pro PC added to this domain, but the Remote Desktop does not connect.
The Windows 8.1 PC appears in the RWA pages, It requests the credentials to connect, and then fails with the following error:
Remote Desktop can't find the remote computer "COMPUTERNAME". This might mean that the "COMPUTERNAME" does not belong to the specified network. Verify the computer name and domain that you are typing to connect to.
I can connect to all other PC fine (running Windows 7). I have tried from different locations and PC's and the results are the same.
I thought I had fixed this problem a few weeks back.  After running all updates on the server and Windows 8.1 PC, and rebooting both, the RDP worked, but I think it only worked once and then failed the next time someone tried to use it. I have not had
a successful connection to the Windows 8.1 PC since.
I am at a loss on how to troubleshoot this as there are no errors on the system which can't be accessed.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Hi Mr Cheese,
    à
I turned off the Firewall on the Windows 8.1 PC and the RDP is now working.
Thanks for sharing in the forum. Your time and efforts are highly appreciated.
Based on your description, this issue is related to Firewall. Would you please let me know current situation
    of this issue?
Just addition. Please open Control Panel, select Windows Firewall and click Allow an app or feature through
Windows Firewall. Then please check if Remote Desktop is allowed. Meanwhile, please click Advanced settings in Windows Firewall panel and click Inbound Rules, then check if rules which be related to Remote Desktop were enabled.
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
    Hope this helps.

    Hey @Ingenium88 ,
I suspect your question would be better answered in the HP Enterprise Business Community, as your HP Printer is a commercial model.
My technical expertise is with consumer products and software, I am sure the commercial folks would be happy to help if you re-post your question for them to answer. The HP Enterprise Business Community is an HP Forum designed for the Commercial and Enterprise customers to help one another. I am sure you will find some HP folks there to help too.
Click here to view the Printing and Digital Imaging. When the page opens you will see the option to 'Log in' or 'Register Now' on the right. The commercial forums are separate from the consumer boards, thus you will need to register if you don't already have a commercial account.
You may find the HP LaserJet P2055 Printer series page helpful while you wait for somebody in the commercial Forum to respond to your inquiry.
    Best of luck.

  • RD Web Access Password Help

I am having trouble remembering my password for the RD Web Access on my computer which is supported on a Windows Server 2008 R2. Is there anyway I can reset a new password? If so, how do I go about this? I have tried several links related to this
topic but have been unsuccessful. Any help will be greatly appriciated

    Hi,
Not entirely sure what you are referring to here, but out of the box, RD Web Access authenticates against Active Directory. If you want to reset a users password, use the Active Directory Management tools. If you are looking for a way to allow end-users
to reset their own password using RD Web Access, yes this is possible on Windows Server 2008 R2, see this guide:
Password change option also available in RD Web Access on Windows Server 2008 R2

  • What ports to open between Connection broker and Web access hosts

I have setup a 4 node 2008 R2 RDS farm (1 connection broker, 1 Web access, and 2 session hosts.) They were all built from the same image, but the web access and connection broker will not talk to each other. They are all on the same subnet, and ips are x.x.x.200-203 The Web access server can ping the Sesions hosts, the session hosts can ping each other, web access and the connection broker. But the Web access and Connection broker cant ping each other. I turned off the windows firewall and they can ping, and connect... So whats ports does it need open?
     Thanks!

  • Publish RD Gateway and Web Access with One-Time Password (OTP) / Two-factor Authentication WITHOUT ISA/TMG server

    Hi everybody,
I've been struggeling with this problem for a few weeks now and can't find a way to solve it.
We have an RD farm (Server 2012) which consists of two Remote Desktop Servers with Connection Broker and Web Access.
I've recently published a new server, containing RD Gateway and Web Access in our perimeter network.
Now we've got restrictions that OTP/2FA must be used for the external deployment and we've decided to go for a solution from Gemalto.
The "program" is called IDConfim and the server is called SA Server (Strong Authentication).
Also it's important that NO ISA/TMG server is supposed to be used, the OTP/2FA is supposed to work seamless with the Web Access/Gateway.
After hours discuss we came to a point were their NPS agent setup would be the only way to accomplish our goals.
The setup is supposed to be like this:
    LAN:
    1 DC (2008 R2)
    RD Farm (2012)
    1 SA Server (2012)
    DMZ:
    RD Gateway/Web Access (2012)
Were Gateway and Web Access should forward the authentications with NPS to the NPS agent on the SA server.
When you print your AD account to authenticate you add the 6 digits of OTP which you recieve from you mobile app.
Initially this seems to work, the Gateway forwards the request to the remote NPS server, BUT only if you write the correct AD password
    (without the OTP extension).
If you write the correct AD password the authentication is forwarded to out SA Servern and it's beeing rejeced because the password doesn't
    contain the correct OTP extension.
    The problem comes here.
When you write you AD password along with the OTP extension you get a Windows Security error in the eventlog (On thw Gateway server) like this:
An account failed to log on.
    Subject:
    Security ID: NULL SID
    Account Name: -
    Account Domain: -
    Logon ID: 0x0
    Logon Type: 3
    Account For Which Logon Failed:
    Security ID: NULL SID
    Account Name: user
    Account Domain: domain
    Failure Information:
Failure Reason: Unknown username or password.
    Status: 0xc000006d
    Sub Status: 0x0
    Process Information:
    Caller Process ID: 0x0
    Caller Process Name: -
    Network Information:
    Workstation Name: server
    Source Network Address: 192.168.x.x
    Source Port: 63003
    Detailed Authentication Information:
    Logon Process: NtLmSsp
    Authentication Package: NTLM
    Transited Services: -
    Package Name (NTLM only): -
    Key Length: 0
This event is generated when a logon request fails. It is generated on the computer where access was attempted.
The Subject fields indicate the account on the local system which requested the logon. This is most commonly a service such as the Server service, or a local process such as Winlogon.exe or Services.exe.
The Logon Type field indicates the kind of logon that was requested. The most common types are 2 (interactive) and 3 (network).
The Process Information fields indicate which account and process on the system requested the logon.
The Network Information fields indicate where a remote logon request originated. Workstation name is not always available and may be left blank in some cases.
The authentication information fields provide detailed information about this specific logon request.
    - Transited services indicate which intermediate services have participated in this logon request.
    - Package name indicates which sub-protocol was used among the NTLM protocols.
    - Key length indicates the length of the generated session key. This will be 0 if no session key was requested.
What i can see it's a NTLM error, but hey?! aren't we supposed to forward all authentication handeling to the remote NPS server?
The problem is that no matter what i try the above problem stays there.
Is it not possible to just forward ALL authentication handeling to a remote server?
The only solution I've found to get it working someday in the future is this:
"Remote Desktop Pluggable Authentication and Authorization", which is supposed to be introduced in 2012 R2.
    Also this link describes it:
    http://archive.msdn.microsoft.com/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ProjectName=rdsdev&ReleaseId=3745
Please, bring me some answers before my head explodes! :)
PS, long question = maybe some errors, ask me if something is unclear.

    Hi,
Based on our experience, if the NTLM error occurs, please check the password.

    Mike

  • Can no longer connect to a Microsoft Outlook Web Access site

    Hi,
    I hope you can help.
I used to be able to access a Microsoft Outlook Web Access site. However recently I am unable to do so. It has a self signed certificate, which I used to choose to accept, and then the browser waits and waits and waits.
I have tried Safari, Firefox, Camino, Flock, Opera, even Internet Explorer. They all behave the same way.
I am not sure when it stopped working. I only log on infrequently. So I do not know if it stopped working after a security update or an OS upgrade.
My Mac is up to date with software updates. I have performed the usual things, repaired permissions etc.
The funny thing is I can connect using Netscape Comunicator under Classic. I have also borrowed a friend's MacBook running leopard, and that works too.
I am wondering if a setting somewhere has become corrputed or inadvertently set incorrectly.
    Thank you in anticipation.
    Ted

    Hi Bryan,
    Thanks for your input.
Unfortunately I cannot get any of the OS X browsers I have tried to get beyond the accepting the site's certificate. All just stall waiting on the Outlook Web Access site. Safari 3.1, Camino, Flock, Firefox (2.0.0.12 and 3 beta 4), Netscape (7.1 and 9), Microsoft's Internet Explorer (thinking that might be more integrated with its Outlook Web Access package).
I have even deleted the certificates from my Keychain (for Safari) or within the other browsers' preferences.
Last night I even re-applied the 10.4.11 combo updater and then checked for software updates to confirm my system was up to date, but again without success when attempting to reach the Outlook Web Access site.
    Thanks anyway.
    Ted

  • Can't connect to computer in remote web access

I am running sbs 2011 essentials and have been able to remotely log in to the remote web access page.  Once I get there I can see all the shared folders on the server (and access them) and I can also see the computers available for access (my computer
and the server).  I can access the server dashboard by logging in as the server administrator (by using domain\admin) and then in a second login as a user (domain\user "with administrative rights").  However, when I go to logon to the client
computer, I receive the error "Remote Desktop cannot find the computer "client".  This might mean that client doesn't belong to the specified network.  Verify the computer name and network that you are trying to connect to."
Do I have a DNS problem since I can connect to the SBS 2011 Essentials server?

    Hi,

  • Connecting to Remote Desktop Published Apps through RD Web Access not working

    Hello,
I have configured an RD Gateway server. My scenario is like I have a windows 2012R2 server with all RD components (Gateway, web access, connection broker, session host) configured, since this is for a poc. Externally I can access rd web access portal (https://<servername.domain.com>/rdweb)
and can connect to the target server using "Connect to a remote pc" tab without any issue.
But I can't connect to any published app from "Remote App and Desktop". The error I recieve is "unable to connect to remote pc. please provide the fully-qualified name......."
At the same time I can see below errors in event logs related to connection broker:
    Error 802:
RD Connection Broker failed to process the connection request for user domain\Administrator.
    Error: Element not found.
    Event 1306:
Remote Desktop Connection Broker Client failed to redirect the user domain\Administrator.
    Error: NULL
    Error 1296:
Remote Desktop Connection Broker Client failed while getting redirection packet from Connection Broker.
    User : domain\Administrator
    Error: Element not found.
Googling I could see some posts related to these issues, mentioning about to check the network connectivity between RDCB and the target server. I can defenitely say it is fine and already mentioned I can connect to the same server using "connect to
    remote pc" tab.
Just FYI, I have this server as Amazon EC2 instance and the domain is configured as Amazon directory service. Can someone please help me at the earliest.. This is pretty urgent as my tasks are pending due to this issue..

    Hi,
I have seen similar issues with Essential role installed, if it’s installed on the terminal server, please remove it.
Please also ensure involved machines are fully patched and keep port 443 of the TS server open.
When external users connect to the Web Access page, are they able to see remote apps? If not, please check whether user assignment setting is configured correctly for remote apps.
Are users able to open remote apps from internal network?

  • P6 Web Access connection to MS SQL Server database using TCP Dynamic Ports

    Hi,
I am attempting to install P6 Web Access. When I run the installation and do the database configuration I am required to input a port number into the Database Host Port field. I do this and no error is displayed graphically, but I get a connection refused error when I look in the web access log.
"com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: The TCP/IP connection to the host has failed. java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect "
The dba is running the database on an sql server farm and does not want to apply a static tcp port to the Primavera database as this will interfere with his other databases.
The fact that it appears to be mandatory to input a host database port during database configuration, has me thinking that P6 Web Access requires that the database be set up with a static TCP port? Is this correct?
I searched the documentation about this but came away with nothing...
any help would be truly appreciated.
    Andy

At my previous company we experienced a similar issue with P6 Web. Our P6 database was hosted on an Oracle RAC and when configuring the Web connection I was forced to point it to a single RAC server rather then allow it to utilize the cluster. If you have found a resolution to this I would be interested in hearing about it.

  • Not able to connect P6 v7 Web access

    Hi,
We have P6 Web Access installed at our company. Suddenly it has started showing the following Error when we try to connect it.
"504 Gateway Timeout: remote server did not respond to the proxy"..
Can anyone provide me the solution for this error.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hello Nesh,
the 504 Gateway Timeout indicates a problem in the network. Depending on your companys infrastructure I would suggest to access the WebAccess Server directly without the proxy. So you can test if it's available. You should mind to use a direct connection with the webaccess Server without a proxy.

  • Visio Web Access web part connection order

I have a Visio Web Access webpart that is currently connected to 3 different query filter webparts.  Here is what the query filter webparts are doing
     - #1 - This is passing in the page name to the "Web Drawing Url and Page Name" connection
     - #2 - This is passing in the shape name to the "Shapes to Highlight" connection
     - #3 - This is passing in the shape name to the "Shape to View" connection
#2 and #3 pull from the same query string variable because I want to highlight AND center/zoom on a selected shape.  Everything works fine if I am already on the default page for the drawing but if I need to have it show a different page the highlighting
works but the center/zoom functionality does not work.
I assume this occurs because it is doing the zoom/center before it changes drawings.  I tried changing the order in which I made the connections so that the center/zoom would come last but that did not work.
How can I make it so that it will do the center/zoom on pages that are not the default?

I have 3 query string filter web parts and they are all connected to the Visio Web Access web part through the browser.  There is no problem in setting up the connections.  The problem is that trying to change pages, highlight a shape, and zoom
in/center on a shape in the same page load does not always perform as expected.  Here is a more elaborate description of what I'm doing:
I have two query strings, "OfficeFloor" and "Employee" which are being passed into the web page.  The query string web part for "Web
Drawing Url and Page Name" grabs the page name from "OfficeFloor" because each of my pages in the Visio drawing represents a floor plan ("1st Floor", "2nd Floor", etc.).  The query string web parts for "Shapes
to Highlight" and "Shape to View" BOTH pull from "Employee" because each shape in the Visio drawing represents
where an employee sits.  So an example request for the page would be "http://www.website.com/EmployeeFinder.aspx?OfficeFloor=3rdFloor&Employee=BobSmith" which would ideally make the Visio Web Access web part go to the page for the 3rd floor and then
zoom/center and highlight where Bob Smith sits.
If the "3rd Floor" page is the default page for the Visio web access then it works fine and it zooms in, centers on, and highlights the "Bob Smith" shape.  However, if the "3rd Floor" page is not the default then it will only highlight
the "Bob Smith" shape and NOT zoom in/ center on it.
