RDS 2012 R2 cannot add 3rd party (parent domain) licensing server

Hi,
I have a RDS 2012 R2 farm and i cannot add a 3rd party licensing server that is in a parent domain (forest root domain - hosted by our corp HQ). I will edit deployment properties for the deployment in the first CB server to add a licensing server in per
user mode. Seemes to work, however no licenses are given to SH servers. Have made GPO aswell to explicitly specify licensing server and mode, however i think this should not be neccessary.
Any ideas?

Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
1. In Server Manager -- RDS -- Overview -- Tasks -- Edit Deployment Properties -- RD Licensing tab, please make sure that the Licensing mode is set to match the type of licenses you purchased, and that the FQDN of your RD Licensing server is listed.
2. In Server Manager -- RDS -- Collections -- <your collection> -- Host Servers, please make sure that your RDSH server is listed.  If you have more than one server with the RDSH Role Service in your deployment make sure that all of them are
listed.  If they are not you may click Tasks -- Add RD Session Host Servers (make sure the servers are part of the Server Manager server pool prior to this).
3. On Server 1, please open an Administrator PowerShell prompt and enter the following command:
Add-WindowsFeature RDS-Licensing-UI
4. After the above powershell command completes you should be able to open RD Licensing Manager (licmgr.exe) on Server 1 if you need to.  Please note that it is more important to have the licensing configured properly in deployment properties and your
RDSH servers part of a collection than it is to be able to open RD Licensing Manager on both of your servers.

    Drool.........drool.............Find that hiding, blinking start button in a RDP session, click start after three trys,  and TYPE IN "Computer Management" .  Right Click, Pin it to your desktop, pin it to the start screen, pin it to the taskbar, send
    it to OneNote, and upload it to skydrive  so you can find it again, then get back to what you were doing....to find the cottin' pickin open files and kick your users off so you can have your way with the server.

    This issue also happens in fresh Windows 2012R2 installations, not just upgrades from 2008R2!
    I have the issue where I cannot modify any settings on SMB shares.  Here is the stacktrace.  It appears to be WMI related.

  • Add 3rd party Security MBeans with weblogic.Admin?

    Would be great if either through weblogic.Admin or another Java interface I could add 3rd party Security MBeabs (i.e. SiteMinderIdentityAsserter as Identity Asserter). Any ideas? Using the create task in wlconfig doesn't work (NullPointerException while the property table is being updated):

    Will take a look at the scripting. Thanks. But the weblogic.Admin command given is a no go. Maybe later version av weblogic (currently using WLS 8 SP4) support domain qualified names but I get the following error:
    $ blogic.sspi.auth.SiteMinderIdentityAsserter -name Security:Name=myrealmSiteMinderIdentityAsserter
    ObjectName: Invalid value -> Security:Name=myrealmSiteMinderIdentityAsserter
    But if I specify with the create command -mbean "Security:Name=myrealmSiteMinderIdentityAsserter,Type=anything" -type com.netegrity.siteminder.weblogic.sspi.auth.SiteMinderIdentityAsserter then the resource is added. Odd thing is that the Type property in the mbean arguement must be stated. I can put anything there. Doesn't matter.

  • Cannot enter 3rd-party certificate into SCUP 2011 on Server 2012

    I am trying to deploy SCUP 2011 on Server 2012 with a SCCM 2012R2 primary site w/WSUS onboard.
    Client is using a 3rd-party Digisign cert from a CA that is trusted through the enterprise. This cert has been imported into the private store and exported as a .pfx to be loaded into SCUP 2011. The Digisign cert is in the TrustedPublishers and Trusted Root
    stores.
    Administrator registry hack applied for Server 2012
    Options of SCUP 2011: Successfully connect to SCCM local site server and local WSUS server. However, when I browse and select the exported .pfx, I am not prompted for a password for the cert, and no certificate information is displayed. Also, there are no
    entries in the Trusted Publishers tab.
    I am stumped at this point. Any suggestions? SCUP just isn't looking at the cert (which was ordered according to the requirements in the SCUP blog.

    A couple of questions...
    1. How, and where exactly, did you import the PFX to the WSUS Server (SUP)? Most notably.. the fully-signed cert needs to be in a cert store named *WSUS*, which has been notably difficult to create except when using the WSUS API to create it.
    2. You don't need to export the PFX for SCUP, only the CER (provided that the PFX is properly held on the WSUS server); but even so, if you already have the original cert from Digisign, why bother exporting from the store to import... you already *had* the
    full cert that could be imported to SCUP?
    3. If you're not prompted for the password of the PFX, that suggests that it wasn't exported with a password, or, since no cert information is available, maybe the export failed completely?

  • Can't add 3rd Party Plug-ins

    I am using iMovie 05 HD ver 5.02 and I can't find the Plug-ins folder to add my 3rd party plugins to. I have done a spotlight search and cant find this folder. Other forums about plugins have said this folder is in the path user/library/iMovie/Plug-ins but there is not even any iMovie folder on this path. The only iMovie folder I have is under documents and that only contains a getting started tutorial.

    Really sure You are looking into Your "user" folder ?
    In this there is a folder with in my case "my account" eg "Bengt"
    in this ther IS a library folder
    and in this ther should be an iMovie folder. If not I would make one
    and into this put a folder "Plug-ins" and in this put Your plug-ins.
    Restart Your Mac and open iMovie and see if it found the new plug-ins.

  • Server 2012 R2 RDS- Only want the Session Host, Connection Broker and Licensing Server!

    Hi all,
    Wondering if anyone has experience with implementing Remote Desktop Services (RDS) on Windows Server 2012 R2.
    I am doing an RDS design for a platform where we only need an RDS Session Host, Licensing Server and Connection Broker. We do not need web access as these servers will simply be jump boxes internally!
    However, implementing this correctly in our test environment has proved to be tricky. The options are:
    Use the Server Manager and do a traditional install via Roles and Features ( specifically add the Session Host, Licensing Server and Connection Broker). The installation process seems to go through ok in this scenario but when I head over to the Remote
    Desktop Services section of the Server Manager I simply get the message 'An RDS Deployment does not exist in the server pool. To create a deployment head to Roles and Features'.
    Use the specific ‘Remote Desktop Services installation’ option on the Server Manager and do a Session Based Desktop deployment and Quick Start. This installation process seems to go through correctly and the Remote Desktop Section seems to be working
    correctly via the Server Manager. However this process is ‘hard locked’ i.e. it installs the session host, web access and connection broker. I can then remove the web access component later from Roles/ Features.
    Is there a best practice (if any) for installation? i.e. Will there be any issues down the line if I remove RDS Web Access from my server while following method 2?
    There is a complete lack of documentation from Microsoft here so not sure what to do! Just need a basic RDS session based deployment.

    As I know from server 2012\R2 the best deployment skill is to perform via “Remote Desktop Services” installation mode with Standard deployment and don’t let single role to install. Because when we install through RDS mode, there are specific extra tools and
    services activated along with that deployment which you can’t find with single role installation. And that is for sure, when we install RDS role as of this, by default we will get install RDCB, RDSH and RDWA role installed.
    Sorry don’t have any option to try to remove that role as that role basically needed for RemoteApp and Desktop purpose. But if you want then you can try it with help of “Remove-RDServer”Powershell command.

  • Users see all applications in RDS 2012 Web access in one-way trust domain environment

    We have RDS 2012 deployment in domainA.local. There is a one-way trust between domainA.local and domainB.local: A trusts B and B doesn't trust A.
    A user from domainB.local authenticates in Web-access interface (wa.domainA.local) and sees
    every published application in every collection in the deployment independently of UserGroups setting of collections and applications. This occurs for any domainB user.
    In the security log of wa.domainA.local we can find an event :

    How to deal with this issue? The aim is to show only specified applications to domainB users.

  • Cannot add Computers to DSfW domain

    We have been running DSfW for a couple of years.
    Recently we found we couldn't add computers to the domain any longer. Also using the MMC all the existing computers are of type mSDSComputer which the team suggest what is normally there.
    Both DSfW servers are running SLES10 sp3 and eDir 8.8sp3
    The logs show the following error:

    Tried adding via MMC - we get an error "Windows cannot create the object because: The requested operation did not satisfy one or more constraints associated with the class of the object"
    I have followed TID 7010319 as we had an issue with ldap groups thinking this may also be the problem. But it doesn't appear to be. Also as mentioned in my OP the item type in MMC is mSDSComputer which appears as an unknown object for all the currently registered computer objects.

  • Cannot add users to new domains anymore

    I got messaging server and delegated admin to work just fine recently until I tried getting LDAP authentication to work so LDAP users could log into Sunrays.
    I used idsconfig and saw that it added a bunch of stuff to the directory so I deleted that stuff after I realized I couldn't add users to a new domain anymore. It just says "cannot create user - unknown error". I can still add users to old domains just fine.
    And I tried both DA and commadmin, neither work. Heres my Messaging server and DA version:

    Frankly, I'm new to LDAP so I don't know really what
    changed.No time like the present to start learning.
    Its weird, I can do some things, but not
    others. Like I can assign service packages, but not
    change the login id or password of a user. So it
    doesn't look like amadmin can't change things.LDAP provides "ACI", or Access Control settings that can be changed, and create exactly the kinds of things you're looking at.
    The Directory Console can view ACI

    switch it back or where to look to see if it did.Unlikely to have made any difference. That should be transparent to the application using DS.
    Most of our applications don't compare the password entry, but attempt a BIND for that very reason.
    Again, I'd be looking at your LDAP access logs for a clue to what's happening.

  • Migrate Windows Server 2008 RD TS/RDS Per Device CALs from a 2008 r2 RD License server to a 2012 RD License server

    I would like to migrate my 2008 r2 CALs from current Server 2008 r2 to a Server 2012 RD License server.  Will the Migrate licenses Wizard in 2008 r2 Licensing server work for this or is there another process that I will have to use?

    I have a 2008 license server with 2008 licenses that I need to migrate to 2012 servers and also provide some kind of fault tolerance in case one license server goes down.  I want to split the licenses since we can't have the same number of licenses
    on both servers.  Do you know if the existing licenses can be split during the migration and be placed on two different windows 2012 license server as per Microsoft best practice? 

  • Cannot add time in Parental Controls

    I have a couple of computers that my kids use. They have mobile accounts with parental controls enabled on them. One is a MacPro 1,1 with 10.7.5, the other is a Mac Mini running 10.9.1.
    When the kids use up thier time on the 10.7.5 machine and they are kicked back to the login screen, I can add more time for them if they attempt to login again. A window pops up telling them thier time is up and allowing me to input admin credentials to add more time.
    On the 10.9.1 Mini if they try to login again the screen does the fast user switching "rotate to desktop" animation, holds a second and rotates back to the login window. I am never given the option of adding more time?
    Based on all of the other Parental Control discussions I saw, most of how this tool works seems pretty nebulous and very few questions ever get satisfactorily answered. But I am holding out hope that this time someone has a solution. Would anyone running 10.9.1 be willing to see if you have the same issue after a controlled user has used up their time?

    I have been seeing similar issue since upgrading to Yosemite on our Late 2012 Mac Mini.
    It doesn't happen every time, and sometimes it acts differently, more like this:
    Dysfunctional Parental Controls
    We log into child account. It prompts to add time. I put in my (or my wife's) credentials to add time (we've tried different amounts). It rotates the cube over, shows his desktop for a second, then rotates back to a black screen, or sometimes to the login screen. Restarting seems to fix it, but of course that's not ideal.

    I tried to add a 3rd email alias to my icloud account. Everytime I get an error that I have to wait 7 days to add a new one. I moved my .me account with 2 Aliases on the icloud release day and after that I dont add or delete an alias. The move is over 7 days ago, so why I can't add a 3rd Email Alias?

    Had exactly this problem for about 4 months. Some folk have been able to do it, some still can't. I finally had some movement in a way. It refreshed and said I had a full amount of aliases again. Which was a bonus cause I didn't think I had one of them.
    Now I deleted another one to make room again, and it keeps coming back each day. Hurrah! Or not. This has been buggy and not working properly for ages and still no solution or response on how to make it do what it is supposed to. I'd have rather stayed with me.com and paid yearly for it to work rather than not pay and it not work properly.

    I have some plugins that I have installed in Premiere Pro cc and I upgraded to CC2014, and I need to get the plugins into the new software,  How do I do this through Extension Manager

    If these plugins are ZXP files, you can install them with Exension Manager CC. If not, you have to copy them to the appropriate folder manually.

  • 5.0 update cannot add another email account from same server

    Updated my 3Gs iPhone to the 5.0.  Unable to add a second email account.  Receive message "Cannot Get Mail.  The user name or password for "mobile.charter.net" is incorrect.  I did not have trouble having two email accounts before the update.  Can anyone assist me?

    It is a standard pop mail account provided by UK ISP Virgin Media. I can setup my hotmail account on it with no problems.
    I have had a play around with the settings (I am an IT Engineer) and once the hotmail account is set up, I can then edit the account settings and change them for the virgin media settings with no errors or hanging. However, when checking for email, it never downloads any.
    I have this account set up on other devices / phones and setting the messages to be left on the server on all the devices and the account behaves correctly on these devices. I know there is email on the server and have sent test email to that account.
    If I delete all the mail accounts, and try to recreate the virgin media pop account, then the inital problem occurs.
