  • IMac ichat to macbook pro ichat and vice versa: audio/video call/chat not working

Hi and thanks for your time!
no green video/phone icon appearing beside buddy name.
audio status/video status under view of the menu bar are ticked. ( i noticed this happened after i added "appleut01" AIM and did a test call. grayed out prior to said test call)
invite to video/audio chat under buddies list are grayed out even if buddy highlighted first.
also tried changing port to 443 but when I do it automatically goes back to 5190...
also, i've tried logging off/on, deleting my account and making a new one...
basically followed suggestions from various threads herein but still cant video/audi chat/call:-)
    hope somebody can help^^

    Hi,
Lets check a few more things.
Some things are blocked from you changing them if the Mac User Account you are using has Parental Controls turned On.
To Show Buddies with Video and Audio icons several places should be checked.
    1) with iChat Open go to the View Menu. In here both Show Video Status and Show Audio Status should be ticked  (Selecting it will toggle the tick On or Off)
    2) In the Video Menu the Camera Enabled item and the Microphone Enabled one should also have ticks.
    3) (we Looked already) The Connection Doctor should say you can Video or Audio Chat as well as whether you can 4 way Video chat and 10 Way Audio Chat.
    4) In the iChat Menu > Preferences > Video Section the Bandwidth Limit should not be set too low.
At least the 500kbps setting is needed to do 4 Way Video Chats.
It can also be useful to use this setting if your Internet Connection is much faster but varies a lot.
    5) Parental Controls will stop you Adding Buddies, adding new Screen Names/Accounts in the iChat Preferences, altering several things about existing Accounts/Screen Names that have been set up.
If a Buddy has a Video or Audio iCon and it is a pale green them they are Busy.
If 1) are set then you should have an Video icon next to your Own Buddy pic in the header part of the Buddy List window. (Whether it shows Audio or Video will depend on 2)
What shows in 3) will depend on the other settings and what Internet Speed and hardware you actually have.
    6) IF the settings are On for the camera then we need to know if the System can "See" the camera.
Go to the Apple icon Menu top Left.  Click About this Mac.
Click More info to Open the System Profiler
Use the Reveal Triangles to see the Hardware list then USB.
Does this list the Camera connected to one of the Buses ?  (you may need to click the items in the panes on the right to see the info you need)
It should list the details such as serial number, Maker, Firmware (possibly) and speed.

  • How to synchronize both audio & video received through AVTransmit2.java ?

    hi,
I will transmit an local video file using AVTransmit2.java, but the problem is i am not able to synchronize both
audio & video streams transmitted. I have an applet which receives both the streams(audio & video) but it
plays in different players. how to synchronize both the players ?
    thanks

I know that In Midlet development using MMAPI there are APIs available to synronize the players like
    p1.setTimaBase(p2.getTimeBase())
But I am not using Players. Through http connection I m getting the raw image data and displaying it through ImageItem i.e no players required.
Therefore If i stream the audio like this How to synchronize that.
    I relly need ur Help

  • Sharepoint 2013 Audio/Video (optional) chat

    Hi guys.
I need an audio/video chat tool that can be integrated with Sharepoint 2013.
The video part is optional, but the audio part is mandatory.
Does anyone have any kind of reference for any existent tool? Or if not, some tips how I can develop easy..ish a tool that does what I need?
Any help would be gladly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,
    Calin.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to add a chat tool in SharePoint 2013.
I think the Lync server integration with SharePoint server would be a better choice.
When an individual is online, you can click the online status indicator to send an instant message.
Also it provides the ability to send and receive e-mail, call the person, and to display free/busy information.

What’s more, there are some third-party tools, such as Jabborate for SharePoint
as below, you can have a look at it.

  • Java Update 5 (1.0) breaks Java for Volano based chats

I installed the Java Update 5 (1.0) for Leopard on my Intel based Mac mini and then was unable to enter Volano (Java applet) based chat rooms. I was forced to reinstall my system to revert to my prior version of System 10.5.8 in oder to be able to continue use the Java based Volano chats. The update that will NOT work states: "This release updates Java SE 6 to to version 1.6.0_1.5, J2SE 5.0 to version 1.5.0_20, and J2SE 1.4.2 to 1.4.2_22."
    According to Volano developers -
Note that Apple calls Java 5 (version 1.5) "J2SE 5.0", while it calls Java 6 (version 1.6) "Java SE 6". I think I finally have the following chart correct:
    J2SE 5.0 = Java 5 (version 1.5)
    - Available as 32-bit and 64-bit packages in Leopard
    - Removed in Snow Leopard
    Java SE 6 = Java 6 (version 1.6)
    - Available only as 64-bit packages in Leopard
    - Available as 32-bit & 64-bit packages in Snow Leopard
In Leopard, the 32-bit Safari can run Java applets only with the 32-bit
J2SE 5.0 support. To run applets using Java SE 6, you need to bypass
Safari using the "appletviewer" Terminal command in Leopard, or upgrade
to Snow Leopard where Safari can run Java SE 6.
Volano says the possible work arounds for Leopard users (10.5.8( are:
According to what I've read, if you have a 64-bit capable Intel processor (i.e., an Intel Core 2 Duo), the software update that you removed should have given you 64-bit Java SE 6 even on Mac OS X Leopard (10.5). Java SE 6 works fine with the VOLANO applets, but unfortunately the Safari browser that runs the applets is only 32-bit on Leopard, so applets in Safari still run with the 32-bit Java SE 5 instead of the 64-bit Java SE 6.
So you have three options to solve the problem -- two free options (one rather easy, one more difficult), and one easy non-free option.
    (1) The Free and Relatively Easy Option
If you have an Intel Core 2 Duo processor (not a Core Solo or Core Duo), you can install all the software updates from Apple so that you'll have the 64-bit Java SE 6.
About Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 2 http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2733 "Java SE 6 is available on 64-bit, Intel-based Macs only."
You would then modify your Java Preferences so that Java SE 6 is chosen first for the Java Application Runtime settings. You can verify the modified setting by running the following "java -version" command from the Terminal application (Finder > Applications > Utilities > Terminal):
    $ java -version
    java version "1.6.0_20"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_20-b02-279-10M3065)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 16.3-b01-279, mixed mode)
There are some more detailed instructions here:
Install Java 6 on Mac OS X Leopard
    http://gephi.org/users/install-java-6-mac-os-x-leopard/
Then you can bypass Safari and run the applet directly in the 64-bit Java SE 6 using the "appletviewer" command in Terminal. For example:
    $ appletviewer http://www.actionchat.com/chat/english.shtml
You just put the URL of the page containing the VOLANO chat applet you want to load. I just tried it on my system, and it works fine. You bypass Java SE 5, which is broken for the VOLANO applets, and you bypass Safari, which cannot run the 64-bit Java SE 6. Instead, you run the VOLANO applet using your Java SE 6 directly!
    (2) The Free and Not-So-Easy Option
You can download and install SoyLatte as an alternative to the Apple Java VM for your Mac OS X Leopard system.
SoyLatte: Java 6 Port for Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5 (Intel)
    http://landonf.bikemonkey.org/static/soylatte/
I have not tried SoyLatte on my iMac, though.
    (3) The Best but Non-Free Option
For only $29, you can upgrade your system to the latest Snow Leopard and get both the 32-bit and 64-bit Java SE 6 along with a Safari Web browser that works with Java SE 6 for running applets!
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MACOS_XSNGL
I hope this information is of help to any Leopard users having trouble with the latest Java update.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
Please bear in mind that this issue, presumably introduced by Apple's own update, affects not only the command line java interpreter but any other app that depends on Java (including some GUI apps). So it perhaps fits the larger scope of Leopard instead of the Unix area.

  • Not able to recognize any video/audio devices using jmf and java soun

    Hi ,
I need one help from your side.
Here I am expecting some clarifications from you. Before that let you my environement.
    My working environment :
Eclipse tool and added jmf jar to my project I did not do any thing more.
If any thing I need to do just let me know. My target platform is MAC & UBUNTU.
    Please bare with my questions.
    1) I am not able to recognize any video/audio devices using jmf and java sound APIs on My system.
( I checked with the app mentioned in the http://www.java-forums.org/new-java/11201-jmf-cannot-connect-device.html )
Do we need any administrives rights for our working PC.
What is the procedure/ setup I need to follow from a java application to enable particular audio/video device since I dont about end-user system setup right.
If possible send some sample code to recognize /r detect audio device ( voice input ). It should run on both MAC and UBUNTU.
    2) I run the one sample audio recording application of this link (http://www.jsresources.org/examples/SimpleAudioRecorder.java.html) which is provided by YOU.
I got output audio file and able to hear voice on UBUNTU system but not able to hear voice on MAC system.
I heared that default line in ( audio setup of the sys) is wont take any voice data on MAC.Why I made this stmt means we are getting false when using isSupported methods of JAVA SOUND API.
( like for TragetdataLine ...i,e, all ports are getting false)
I have one sample audio recording app implemented by QUICKTIME API. In this case also he taking audio ftom device only using quicetime API.
With that we are able to record and hear audio ( voice input --> not line in , external device we added some thing like SSB...)
    3) In case of Video capturing DataSource, Streams are implemented by PullBufferDataSource , PullBufferStream intefaces used.
In case of Audio capturing DataSource, Streams are implemented by PushBufferDataSource, PushBufferStream intefaces used.
Can you explain the reasons ? I gone through API but i am not clear.
HOPE I WILL BE CLARIFIED EVERY THING FROM YOU.

  • Audio/video chat works but audio only doesn't

Audio-video chats (both 2-way and one-way) work, but audio ONLY chats don't work (connection error). One machine is running 10.4.2 and the other 10.3.9. Doesn't seem like this would be a firewall or bandwidth issue if AV chats are working fine. Why would this happen?

I have the same issue, as well as the other iChat issues on other posts. When our offices (SF area & LA area, CA, US) were on 10.3.9, no problems with audio or video chats (we all have AIM screen names). Then the boss upgraded to 10.4.1. He could a/v chat with anyone inside our network and could video (with sound) with the other office, but not audio only. When he is at home he could a/v with anyone. We upgraded one more computer in our office to 10.4.1 and it was able to audio chat to other Tiger machines outside the office, but not Panther machines (can chat with anyone inside too). Now the boss and I have upgraded these same machines to 10.4.2 and the audio chat doesn't work outside the office anymore and we still can't chat with Panther machines outside the office.
Our office has Netopia Cayman 3546-002 ADSL Broadband Gateway on SBC Yahoo DSL at 4936 kbps down/493 kbps up. I called Netopia and had them help me open up the ports (I had them look at the apple tech document so they could help me get it right). It has NAT enabled and all the computers on this LAN have static addresses. Most of the computers access the LAN through the airport express (which just bounces the signal from the wired side). I think we have port forwarding or mapping set up for our two servers...the router looks at the address from the WAN side and routes it to the address on the LAN side. Firmware is up to date on the router.
I did not originally set up this network and have spent much time reading the user manual for the modem/router (it's a combo device) and trying suggestions here and from Level 2 at Apple. They say it is our network, but I don't know how to fix it.
I don't think this router has any UPnP capability, that I could find in the manual. Also what is SIP? I need a description of it or at least what that acronym stands for. Also, I've seen stuff about using the Terminal to change the telenet port. This routers telenet is set to 23, that should be fine for iChat, right? No conflict?
Please help this tortured soul!! Thanks.

  • How to stream audio / video in java?

    Hello.
I would live to develop a java application (JavaEE, with tomcat or JBoss) that could stream audio / video over the Internet, on a controlled matter.
First, I would have to embed a flash player, correct? Need suggestions on one, paied or free.
My questions are: How can I have the flash player stream audio to users by downloading it from a java app server, if the user has a session and is logged in, etc? (picture myspace here)
Also, how do I measure network traffic in Java? (The flash player of each user will stream the songs, I'd like to know how much bandwith is going around).
The reason that I'm asking this here is because I have no idea of which forum to ask this.
I have been a Java app developper for the past five years, so coding won't be a problem, I just don't know which API / Frameworks to turn to.
    Thanks for all your help.
    Regard,
    Carlos.

(picture myspace here)The same way you would authenticate any website. Usually a database and a challenge/response. If they're not logged in, then instead of writing out the content, write out a 403 status code (or do something more graceful, such as redirect them to the login page).
Also, how do I measure network traffic in Java? (The flash player of each user will stream the songs, I'd like to know how much bandwith is going around).Just keep track of how much data you send to the OutputStream.

    Hi,
If this is to Google or Jabber Buddies that are not using iChat then it is working as expected.
Jabber app and Google run a Jabber Server for GoogleTalk use a different Protocol to connect Video and Audio Chats.
So Buddies logged in via a Web Browser to GoogleMail and iGoogle pages to chat (using a Browser Plug-in) cannot connect nor can those using the PC Standalone App of the same name (GoogleTalk).
The same applies to Facebook Buddies (they are also Jabber Buddies)
Or those Jabber Buddies on other servers.
On iChat 6 that offers the Yahoo option the same thing applies.
    It works iChat to iChat.

    Hi,
Error 7 means that something other than iChat cut the connection, normally during the connection process.
Check your modem or router for DoS (Denial of Service) Or SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) as both are somewhat threshold based and could be effected if you have had a recent increase in internet speed.
Turn them off if you have them.

I tried the default pod example. I can hear not the voice of other participants.. It is clear to me that i will not hear my voice. But I should be able to hear voice of others.
Is the defaultpod.mxml is one way audio example?   What can I change in the code below so that it can be used for video chat? What do I need to change so that every one can hear the sound of each other during video chat?  In the current example, Everyone can see the video of each other but not the audio. Do I need to make any change in the in the room settings?

  • Multiple audio/video chats

Is it possible to do a audio/video chat with more than one person at the same time and if there is how would I go about doing it?

    Yes James that is possible if;
You have multi layered camera icons (all three of you).
When you see 2 buddies with multilayered camera's you can chat with 3.
You start a chat with a buddy who has a multilayered camera icon.
You invite the second buddy bij touching + on the buddy list.(multilayered camera icon
You ininvite the third person by touching + on the buddy list. (multilayered camera icon
you can also select the drop down menu on top of the screen and select add buddy. You should now have a conferencing interface for three buddies.

    Audio chat
(Same as video) is possible by touching the microphone icon next to the buddy you want to invite, you can add up to 10 buddies, as long as they all (and yourself) mutlilayered mic. icons.
If there is no icon or multilayered icon next to your buddie, A/V chat is not possible.
Software preferable as recent as possible.

  • How to use rtp to transmit data other than audio / video

    hi all,
as you all know the jmf is based upon a specific paradigm:
data source -> player (processor) -> renderer.
i am not being very precise on this but that does not matter.
i want (for testing purposes) to create a tool that transmit some custom data
(maybe even nonsense) over the rtp packages.
so as you may now see this would not work quite right with the mentioned
paradigm since there would be no audio/video to play-process-render.
so how would i go about to utilise the rtp abilities of the jmf without adhering
    to the whole player-whatever shebang.
what i have figured out is that there is a way to transmit custom rtp-payload.
there is even an example on the jmf solutions page but even this one uses
    an audio format (pcm).
i hope what it is clear to the dear reader what i want to do and maybe some-
one can help me with this.
p.s. i am not one who wants to get the whole source code (like so many
others do on this forum) for a project someone may have done on this, what
i need is a hint in the right direction.
thanks for your attention and thanks in advance for any useful hints.

Hi, I would like to make some comments that may help
you to find out how to manage your problem.
If you have a look to the JMF 2.0 API, Guide,
"Understanding the JMF RTP API", Figure 8-2
    http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/2.1.1/guide/RTPArchitecture.html#105171
you can notice that the processor is not essential.
In this pciture, the processor is inserted between two datasources,
to let you perform some operations on the media that is read from
a file or a capture device.
But the SessionManager just needs a DataSource.
With what you say, I can imagine that you want to transmit
real-time data that is not related to standard media formats.
In principle, the only think you must do is to extend the
    javax.media.protocol.DataSource abstract class and implement
    it at your own convenience.
Once your custom class is written, you can call the SessionManager's
method createSendStream(DataSource ds, int streamindex) passing
for argument an instance of your mentioned custom implementation.
    Hope this helps.
    Good Luck ;-) !

  • The big iChat problems. Audio/Video (now completely broken in 10.7.3), the "not-authorized" problem

So, I am running iChat on OS X Lion 10.7.3 on an early-2011 MBP 13'' . These problems have been here for a while, though (I got my comp with 10.7.0). I have AIM/GMail/Yahoo connected..
One problem is the issue of non-authorized people. There is a list of "not authorized" people that I have to scroll past in my "offline" section of iChat buddies before I actually get to the real offline contacts. Big note here: All these people have the address (something)@aol.com. These contacts have come up as a result of my gmail connection. You see, a few months ago Gmail and AIM did this chat unification process where @aol.com contacts can be just added into Gmail for chatting. These @aol.com copies come up asking for an invite when the REAL AIM address person talks to me. The invites leave once I press decline, but then they stay on my list as not authorized. If I delete these "not-authorized" copies, the invites will come up again and the cycle will repeat. It is a nuisance considering how much of these false contacts are on my list.
Second problem is video/audio chat in general. This issue really applies on AIM/Yahoo—there is nothing for Gmail because people usually use the web interface which simply doesn't work with iChat video/audio. If the people used Google talk, the issue written below would probably come up.
See, what happens is that…(now in 10.7.3), video/audio chat is simply broken, simple as that. My contacts always tell me that an error has occurred when trying to accept my video chat invite. It simply doesn't work. They are using AIM desktop in most cases. When it DID used to work (to a very limited extent, I'll say; it was hit or miss earlier pre 10.7.3, now it's just miss), it was just video but NO audio. They could see/hear me, I could only see them. When I did audio chats, they hear me, I..don't hear them (so audio chats were pointless). The only case where this problem doesn't happen is where it's Mac to Mac, iChat to iChat. VERY limited in use of audio/video chat, if you ask me.

    Hi,
If AIM contacts have been added to your Google Buddy List then I would login to Google and remove them from there  (the iGoogle or GoogleMail web pages will show the Chat option)
Whilst they are still in the List then the Authorization request will probably be resent (In this case it is probably being generated by the method Google are using to add the AIM names as iChat only sends it once).
Google/Jabber Video chats is only iChat to iChat and so is Yahoo with iChat 6.
The Yahoo App streams Video which People can be allowed to see and Audio is added in as an Audio Chat.
The connection Process is not the same and iChat/AIM
Jabber and Google use Jingle to Connect (in fact Google's version is not that compatible with other Jabber apps).
This means iChat to the Standalone PC app  or any Web Browser using the Google Video Plug-in (PC or Mac) or to any Jabber app that is using a Google ID (or a Jabber ID) will not work.
On the iChat to AIM on a PC.
This has always been a bit of a hit and miss affair.
Some people have no trouble but other spend ages trying to set things up and never find the solution.
This is the Original Users Tip  (up to about AIM5.9)
A "replacement" for that tip that has not made it across yet.
I have yet to try Video to the Web Login version that is now on offer.
However I would limit the Bandwidth in iChat Menu > Preferences > Video Section to 500kbps (possibly try 200kbps for 1-1 chats) as you will not know the interent speed available to the Buddy if they are using the web login.
    Comparisons
When you compare iChat actual functions to what you would like it to do it can appear to be limited.
On the basis that you would want your IM app to be able to have Buddies from other services listed in a Buddy list (combined) or Lists which apps do you know of can do that and Video to some of them ?
Adium and ProteusX can both have Buddies from the major Services ina  Buddy List but don't do Audio or Video.
Yahoo and MSN both allow the other's Buddies in the list but I am not sure about Video or Audio chats
They cannot connect to Jabber or AIM buddies even for text chats.
Jabber does depend on the server you use and whether that does Transports for you to have text chats with other services.
    Instructions for iChat.
Mercury IM is a JAVA version of MSN and still has not got to Audio and Video
    Similar for aMSN
    Gizmo5 and YakforFree both died...
Skype is Cross Platform  but is only 1-1 in Video chat.  (cost extra for 3 and 4 way chats)
Yahoo had dropped support for their Mac version now iChat has the Yahoo option  (you can still download it  - IT being the beta it has been for  years).
