Re ordering Sort in stacked view chart of Pivot table

Hi,
I have a requirement to order the stack in a certain way rather than alphabetical. In my criteria I have a case statement that assigns 1, 2 or 3 and orders that column. But what is the syntax for me to do an order by? Please help. Thank you.

you can do this with two diffrent way. first one and also simple one is add a sorting column to your table and insert numbers to column according to your demand, and use this cloumn to sort in dashboards, also dont forget to hide this clolumn.

I have been working on OBIEE cache. I encountered few issues.
1. We scheduled ibots to run daily and deliver dashboards to seeding cache. But the cache is not getting created for some reports which have charts and pivot tables in the dashboards .
We are using OBIEE 10.1.3.3.1.
2. When an end user logs in and access dashboard, the query is hitting the database.
3. The sql query for reports which got created in server cache are not the same as sql query generated when an end user logs in to access dashboard. The difference being query generated when an end user is accessing dashboard is using aggregates.
4. Please let me know if anyone has faced same issue and any solutions.

Can I navigate and drill down in chart and pivot table?

In the fact, the end user want to navigate to a detail report request when drill down to the final level.
I know when use table, I can navigate on data and drill down on column.
But in chart and "pivot table", I do not find the option of interaction to achieve this.
Any suggestion?

You can drill down in charts but I just saw you can't in pivots (strange because I assumed that that must be possible)
However, you can always use guided navigation!

Chart in pivot table

I created a pivot table and selected the chart option as well. The legend of chart shows all the columns descriptions, how can I make only one column values to be displayed as legend.

Simple, Add one more Pivot View and place your columns and measures and Mark the Chart Position - Chart Only in first pivot view and place the unwanted columns in Excluded section.

Chart in pivot table not shows computed data

"market" is put on the "rows"
"brand" is put on the "columns"
"value" is put on the "measures", and set "Show Data As -> Percent Of -> Row" for measure "value"
the table of the pivot table shows correct computed data
but why does not the chart show by computed data (percentage)????
is there any setting to show in term of percentage.
or any alternatives to achieve the goal (show in term of percentage) ????????????

When you chart pivoted results, what type of chart are you using? You may not be able to display marketwise % in a bar chart. You may want to try out the pie chart where you can display marketwise % values.

Do you want to remove the little arrows on the column header in a pivot view?
If so the options are available in the analysis Criteria Tab. The problem is you cannot set it for one view, they effect the whole analysis
In Criteria Tab -> Analysis Properties just beside Filters and selection steps -> Interactions tab.

Combo Chart with Static Table

Hi Experts! I have one assignment to do...I have a bar line chart with departments on axis X and a static table with departments on rows....and one measure. Chart and static table has the same info. My static table has "Enable column sorting in Dashboards" YES, and a Rows per Page 10.
In dashboard I can click on column department to order A-Z or Z-A and my chart also changes, but in my chart I can see ALL departments (not 10) :S. Is possible to see in chart the same departments that I see in static table???

this can be done with some work in pivot table. in pivot table use chart + table for your report. then implement pivot table pagination. that allows you to select page and based on selection chart and table changes. but enable sorting on dashboard wont work in pivot tables.

Problem in pivot table view

Hello gurus,
I need a help in pivot table view. In pivot table, I have to show measure in accordance to month. For example show sales as per region by month name.
Region               Sales
          Jan     Feb     Mar     Apr …………..Dec     Avg     Total
A          10     40     92     92          32     xxx     xxx
B          73     83     39     78          87     xxx     xxx
So this is what I have to do. I am able to do this with one measure with created new calculated item. Now I have to create this report using two measures and the in the new measure I have to show only average and total.
For example
Region               Sales                              Target
          Jan     Feb     ………Dec     Avg     Total Avg Total
A          10     40          32     xxx     xxx          xxx          xxx
B          73     83          87     xxx     xxx          xxx          xxx
Here sales and target are two different measures. The problem is when I add target column in measures; it will show all the month which I don’t require at all because I need all the month for sales only and for target I just need average and total. I try from head to toe but not getting any thing like this.Can i do this using other view if possible.
Help me guys. If you need more explanation then please let me know.

Different sort order with line chart and stacked column chart

Hi,
I have a problem with sorting within flash charts.
The chart should be ordered by a date column.
If I'm using a line chart everything is fine. The columns in the chart are in the same order as returned by the query.
If I change the chart type to stacked column chart, I get a wrong order.
It is orderd like 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 1, 2, 3, 4.
What's wrong?

I found the solution.
Anychart seems to have a problem with null values!
The corrupted sorting only occured for a specific set of search criteria and a specific day. At this day some values have been null.
I added a "nvl( [...], 0) for every value.
No I get a correct sort order.

Stacked Bar Chart with Multiple Series Sort Question

Hi,
Apex version 4.1.1
I have a stacked bar chart with three separate series, one showing customer effort, another showing project effort and the third showing other effort, summarized by calendar week. The x-axis of the chart is the calendar "week of" date, and the y-axis has a bar for each of the three series. Not every type of effort occurs every week.
When AnyChart renders the chart, the order of entries on the x-axis seems to be dependent both on which series are present in a given week as well as the "week of" date. Weeks with all three series sort in order by calendar date, followed by weeks where just the 2nd & 3rd series are present, followed by weeks where just the 3rd series is present. Is there a way to force AnyChart to sort the x-axis in chronological order regardless of whether there is data for all three series for a given week? I have looked through the AnyChart XML reference but cannot find a way to do this.
Incidentally, I can solve the sorting problem by combining all three series into a single query:

Thanks, Jeff. I did try this but for whatever reason it doesn't make a difference. I think it is because if there's no data for a given series for a certain week, there is no entry in the data set that is sent to AnyChart.
I was able to get around the issue by "filling in" the missing weeks from each data series. To generate the list of "Week Of" dates for a given date range, I used this code:

     to_char (each_day, 'D') = '2'This creates an effort entry of 0 for each week within the date range; I use the Monday date of a week as the "Week Of" date. I then union this with my actual data and summarize by week and viola, I get the weeks in order. This also has the benefit of showing a week for which there are no entries in any of the three series.

Stacked Bar Chart Order

I am doing a stacked bar chart and I needt to control the vertical order of the bars. It seems to be always sorting alphabetically by my descriptions. My descriptions are 'No Mastery','Pre-mastery' and 'Mastery'.
I want:
Mastery
Pre-Mastery
No Mastery
It always shows as:
No Mastery
Mastery
Pre-Mastery
How can you control this?

Thank you for your reply! that solution indeed changes the alphabetical sort, the problem is that the order is now fixed (i.e. "Mastery" is always number 1)
I need them ordered by a particular column (for example total sales) I guess I can use ranks instead of fixed numbers (i.e. concatenating the calculated sales rank instead of always using "1" for "Mastery").

Stacked Bar Chart Descending order Based on Height

I have a stacked bar chart and I want to order the bars based on height. The tallest bar on the left. Is there an easy and reliable way to doing this. Also, I can concerned that I have two heights of the same value.

hi Eric,
i am assuming that your stacked bar chart has more than 1 Show Value, correct?
if so the following will work:
1) create a new formula that adds up all of the different show values
2) copy and paste your chart beside the existing chart so you don't inadvertently wreck it with the following steps
3) in the new chart, using the Chart Expert add the new formula that is basically a sum of all of the show values
4) you can use the Top N > All based on the new formula
5) right click on the chart and then go to Chart Options, Axes, and then check Dual Axes
6) you'll now get a Multi Axes tab...make sure that the new formula is alone in one of the columns
7) you can go to the appearance tab and change the Overlap so that gaps are reduced
8) you can now preview the report again, right click on the new series and change it to transparent

Stacked bar chart should not sort by values but by month

Hello,
I have a problem concerning a stacked bar chart (Apex 4.0 / Anychart). X-Axis contains Months and Y-Axis contains values. Values are splittet to 4 Values (a,b,c,d)
But if there is no value for a in February the sequence will jump to march displaying march before February and February at the end of the chart.
In every month some values are missing, so I am not able to sort for a specific value.
Do you know how to solve this problem? Thx in advance

Ordering of values in Stacked Area Chart

I have a stacked area chart that I want to order the stack from highest to shortest based on the last year. The area chart has years and schools on the x axis and count one the y-axis. I want to stack based on the last year of the school count.
When I order it in the chart expert, it seems to pick the first year as the criteria to order the stack.
Is there a way I could use some type of formula or something.

Hi Eric,
As a static solution, you could use specified order.
In the Chart Expert, when you select your field located in the "On change of" list,
and click on the button "Order", you can change the order to: "in specified order"
Another static solution could be to actually create a formula like:
If {My Database Field} = "My Value 1" Then
     1
Else If {My Database Field} = "My Value 2" Then
     2
Else If {My Database Field} = "My Value 3" Then
     3
Then use the formula on the chart, instead of the database field.
And on the Legend, it will display the number like: 1, 2, 3,...
You can then replace the text on the legend by text object with the right heading, or manually create a legend with text objects.
Note that one thing to be careful of, it's if for one group, not all the subgroup are present, then the order will not be retained.
For example:
If I have on my chart the following:
- Country
- Product
With a summary on sales amount.
If I have the following data:
Canada
     - Product 1
     - Product 2
     - Product 4
USA
     - Product 1
     - Product 2
     - Product 3
     - Product 4
Then despite we set a specified order of:
     - Product 1
     - Product 2
     - Product 3
     - Product 4
The chart will display the order of:
     - Product 1
     - Product 2
     - Product 4
     - Product 3
This is happening because the first group on the chart doesn't have all the products, and it will use the element of that sub-group to order the information.
If you know that your data set may not have all the data for a sub-group used on the chart, then none of the above suggestion will work for you, unless you write a stored procedure, or a command object that always returns all the subgroup elements, or you use a subreport technique which is described in the sample report provided in the following knowledge article:
1245204 - Date range in Chart for Crystal for all dates not just those dates with data
The Knowledge Base Article refer to dates, but the same technique applies for any type of data.

I have issue on sorting the color on stacked bar chart.
Below steps are not reflect the color sorting.
1. Right click on chart area in the report
2. Select chart expert
3. Go to Color Highlight tab
4. In the item list, change the sequence of color

hi,
You can right click on each bar individually,
Format Series Riser -> Fill -> Foreground Color.
This will apply the required colors.
Also, if you have any color standards, try to create a sample report with this kind of Chart and specify the colors individually.
Right Click the chart -> Save as Template.
In future, if any other reports have Stacked Bar Chart with same color standards, you can directly re-use this template.
