Thanks for your responses. There is a further sample available at SUN under http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/2.1.1/solutions/SwingJMF.html that demonstrates multiple simultaneous Players (though not very reliable on my System - Win2K). So I know that this is possible. Nonetheless modifying the original code by setting the Manager's Hint property PLUGIN_PLAYER to true will also cause an error here when I try to instantiate a second Player. Setting that value is required in my case, as otherwise it is not possible to obtain the FrameGrabbingControl from the Player instance, which is needed to access single frames. So I'll try to install another Codec on my machine or will do a test using QT.

Got that xxx thing running now. Didn't take the approach by Andrew Davison but the one from the SUN sample. The latter in fact is based on a Processor instead of a Player. Instead of utilizing the FrameGrabbingControl there is a customized Renderer implementation to perform the conversion of video data to texture image. Even this was only succesfull when I installed some different codec (fobs4jmf).

Problem with multiple Toplink/JPA apps in same server

Anyone have experence of running serveral Toplink/ EJB-3 Web apps in the same server (OC4J, alas)?
We seem to get a problem with the second app failing to initialise toplink, with an entity not found message. Each app runs OK on it's own.

Yes, they access the same datasource and most of the tables overlap.
We're thinking it might help to have common entity classes and put them in a shared library, but I don't know if this is relevant (setting up shared libraries complicates testing and tends to snowball, I reckon we need about 15 jars all told).
I''ve had some funnies on OC4J before which I think may be to do with it's use of ClassLoaders, for example I initially put persistence.xml in the libary jar with the data model, but for some reason I get the entity not found error that way. It only seems to work if it's in the classes folder.
For the moment we're getting arround the problem with multiple OC4J instances in the server.

Problem with multiple versions of documents being published with 001, 002, etc.

I am using Contribute CS3. I am having a problem with multiple versions of documents being published on the sever with 001, 002, etc in the name. So that I end up with 2 or 3 versions of a document on the server. Does anyone know why / how Contribute is doing this? Thanks for any help you can give.

Problems with multiple idocs in one file ( Inbound file )

We have problems with multiple IDocs in one file.
We are using XIB ( Amtrix ) as Middleware to receive the files.
Curretenly When the file contains one IDoc then there is no problem. IDoc is created and everything is ok.
If file contains two IDocs ( for example two messages ORDERS and DELVERY ) then it is creating two IDocs but both IDocs contains ORDERS plus DELIVERY segements information. That is the problem. Some how SAP unable to differentiate the IDocs in the file.. But it knows that how many idocs are there in the file..because it is creating exact number of idocs.
We are using TRFC port ... Do I need to change it to File port..
When we have more than one idoc do we need set any parameter in the file ...

As of now , Middleware cannot split the file.
Thing is SAP is creating two Idocs with different message types. Problem is First IDoc contains ORDERS message type but also DELIVERY segments as well. Second IDoc with DELIVERY message tyoe but ORDERS segments as well... This is the problem... I think we are missing some field activation in file for EDIDC record.
As far as I know file port supports the number of IDocs in one file.. Hope TRFC port also supports that

Problem with multiple forms and subview

I have a problem when using NetBean Web Pack (JDK6, Net Beans 5.5, JSF 1.2).
1) I created a JSF page (hello.jsp) and a page fragment (header.jspf) inside Web Pack, and let the JSF page (hello.jsp) includes the page fragment.
2) The include instruction is outside of the "form" element id=main_form() of the first JSF page.
3) Inside the page fragment (header.jspf), I put a form (id=header_form) with some input fields inside the "subview" element.
4) When running the web application, the form and its children (id=header_form) inside the subview are not rendered.
It seems to be a problem with multiple forms on a page and the subview.
Do I use these JSF components incorrectly? Any advice?

If you successfullt restore to factory defaults/new iPod and still have the problem then it is likely a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

LOV Problem with multiple values

HI All,
I have a problem with LOV .When ever i click LOV after search button all values are displaying fine.
But when i get so many values i want to select only one vlaue that is not cmng to the main page ....Cursor is in running state always after that time out error is coming in my application .
This problem is coming with with only single value selection in lOV only problem with Multiple values retrival that time only...
(Iam using 11.1.1.3 Jdeveloper.)

I would like to create a movie with with video from multiple windows playing simultaneously

I would like to make a movie that shows multiple videos playing at the same time but in separate windows (kind of like the intro to the Brady Bunch?). How can this be done?

I would suggest using Apple's Pages which allows support for imbedding videos from the device's camera roll. Pages also allows for sharing via email, Air Drop, and Messages.

Screen ipad doesn't respond during video viewing home sharing with multiple iOS devices simultaneously

A have a problem with the videos app and iTunes home sharing on multiple iOS devices.
This is my setup. On my iMac 2006 with Snow Leopard I have:
- 100+ dvd's ripped in my iTunes movie section
- 600+ episodes ripped in iTunes TV-section in 35 TV-shows
- 1 apple tv, 1 iPad 2, 1 iPad mini
On an average evening my family is watching different tv-shows simultaneously on the apple tv, the ipad, an iphone, and an ipad mini.
This is done through home sharing on the one iTunes library.
All updated apps, software etc..
What happens on the ipads, after viewing for more than 10 minutes, the user interface doesn't show up when tapping the screen. The touchscreen doesn't respond, only the home button works. Clicking the home button closes the app, but the sound of the video keeps on playing. Opening up the videos app again gives a black screen with sound still playing and still no button or UI.
The only workaround which currently works is killing the videos app. Power off the ipad and power on again, reconnect to the shared library, wait until it has found all the content (1+ minutes) and startup the tv show again.
All in all, a nasty way to pause your viewing or switching to another movie of tv episode, or even wanting to finish viewing.
The problem has haunted me for a year now, patiently waiting and hoping software-updates would fix it. They didn't.
A fix would obviously hugely improve my user experience, getting it on par with Apples usual quality of service.
Anyone familiar with this problem? Apple: is it possible to fix it in an update?

I'am also starting to get a new problem - sometimes when waching a movie on iPad or ATV it just quits the movie and you have to start it again
on the iPad most of the time it also shows the wrong cover art. I tried all the hints here, and i works for a day or two then its wrong again

With multiple players only the first created is in the foreground

Using JMF 2.1.1, I can create multiple players. There's some fishy behavior though. The application has a JFrame, with a JTabbedPane. Within the JTabbedPane, there are a number of JInternalFrame's - each containing a lightweight Player.
1. The first created player with always be in the foreground. Selecting other players, or moving them around the screen does not bring the video to the foreground. In fact, if they get cascaded, the video is always seen in the order the players were created.
Is there a way to bring a player into the foreground?
2. Moving the JInternalFrame's around the visible area, it behaves strangely at the edges of the application area. The video can actually overlap slightly, the boundary of the JTabbedPane, for example.

I have found the root of my problem: you cannot mix heavy and lightweight components very easily. The description at
http://java.sun.com/products/jfc/tsc/articles/mixing/
describes and has perfect examples of what is happening to me. The Player method getVisualComponent() returns a java.awt.Component, and that's the problem!
The heavy weight awt objects are over writing the light weight swing components.
damn! Anybody know how to change that? I already use the "lightweight renderer" hint in the manager. Trying to cast the player to javax.swing.JComponent will compile, but bombs at run-time. I'd hate to switch over to all heavyweight awt components just to fix this up.

Problem with multiple requests

I have a problem with the users submitting multiple requests simultaneously.
Let me put it this way:
1. User is on a tabbed panel with clear and search buttons.
2. User clicks on 'clear' button from any tab (request one). On successful completion, it should reset and load tab one.
3. Before the tab one loads, user again clicks (request two) on a different tab two. (Tabbed panel - server side tab switch)
4. As a result, tab two loads. Now when I click on tab one, the default values are not getting set.

I guess thats where the problem lies and users are not really interested in solution provided by me to use javascript and freeze the page until request one completes.

Thus, you want to keep user/session-specific requests in a synchronized queue? You could put a lock in the HttpSession on start of request and remove it on end of request and synchronize the requests on that lock. You can use a Filter for this which is mapped on FacesServlet.
It's all theory and I've never done it, so I can't give a "safe" code example out of head. But googling using the terms "synchronized, lock, httpsession" gives lot of the same ideas, some with examples, under each this article: [http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/library/j-jtp09238.html].

Captivate4: Multiple audios playing simultaneously

Hi there.
I have a project with multiple swf's (all on separate slides), each with its own audio.
Everything plays normally on my desktop, but when the project is SCORM 2004 packaged and uploaded to my LMS, the audio for about 5 slides plays simultaneously for the length of the first introduction slide (which incedentally has no audio).
Once the first slide has finished (it has a couple of text instructions and a "Next" button), and the user continues to the next slide, the audio garble stops.
I think that for some reason the audio is being played as the swf files are being downloaded from the LMS?
I have all animations set to be stored externally in the project (that is the only way I can get them to operate correctly), and the download 'buffer' to 80%. Framerate is 30fps.
Any ideas?

Rod, if I learned something I would believe what you say. But to 'learn' one must discover something they didn't know, or correct something they were doing wrong. Sure, I didn't know Captivate would go crazy when I externalised the files, because it shouldn't. I have learned nothing from this, other than Captivate has idiosyncracies I no longer have time to deal with. I am going to continue using the product for small, less important projects, but it is no longer practical for me to use as a serious education tool.

ITunes Match ratings information problems with multiple computers/libraries

I have multiple Macs (business and personal) with similar but not identical libraries. My business Mac did not contain any ratings information for the tracks in my library but my personal Mac did. Once both machines (and my iOS devices) were linked to iTunes Match the only rating information that appears is that from my work Mac (which means no ratings). All music is there but ratings info reflects that of the first Mac linked (play counts appear accurate). Any ideas?

Hey everyone, I have a bit of a problem with iTunes. The whole setup is a bit convoluted, here's the layout. My brother and I both have iPhones. He uses my account to buy things, but has a separate library. Recently, my computer crashed, so I took his old one and he bought a new one. I now have his old computer, with his iTunes library, and he has a new one. I just want to sync my phone to the computer and be able to manage my iTunes through this computer, so I created a separate user on this computer. When I load iTunes under this user, the library is empty, save 3 songs that I believe automatically come with iTunes. When I connect my phone, it lets me back it up, but I can't do anything else. I can play music, but not edit or download. I have no clue what to do with all this, it would really just be easiest to uninstall iTunes I feel but I don't know if he would lose his music or anything. Thanks for any help!

HT1947 Does anyone else have my problem with atv3? Plays films in iTunes without any problems but on music every time I use the remote app on my iPhone 3GS it stops playing after around 5 tracks in. Anyone having this problem?

I think this is probably a sign that your network could be better than it is.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.
