Re: Razr M - Comments, Tips or Complaints

I am just looking for little feedback on the New Razr M. Any comments, tip or tricks learned from or about setup, and of course complaints.

This little phone is great.  The stats are identicle to the Razr HD and Maxx HD except for the screen and battery.
Ive had it for about a month now and I have zero regrets about it.  It is the perfect size for me.  The screen is bright and vivid.  The batter lasts me a full day with heavy usage, and 2 with light usage.  No real complaints with it.

Rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charge cycles and will naturally degrade over time. You've probably experienced this with other battery-powered products - you find yourself charging the battery more often as the charge just doesn't seem to hold as often as it once did. Eventually, you may need to replace the internal battery.
There are a couple of things you can do before replacing the battery. Sometimes it's a matter of changing a few settings that will ensure you're getting all the power you can from your battery. Motorola Customer Service can help you with this process over the phone.
    Before you call:
We recommend that you completely deplete the battery by allowing the device to completely shut down when the battery has depleted.
Once your product shuts down, plug it into the charger that came in the original box, and allow it to charge to 100%.
Once you've completed this charging cycle, call Motorola Support at 800-734-5870, and the team will diagnose your battery, and recommend setting changes or actions. If your battery does need to be replaced, we offer two battery replacement options:
The battery only replacement program lets you send your product to Motorola so that we can replace the battery and return the device back to you. If your device is within the warranty period there is no charge for this service. If your device is outside of the warranty period, the cost of this service is $49 plus applicable taxes.
You can expect to receive the device back approximately 5 business days from the time we receive the device.  Use our online repair submission process to get going.
With the expedited battery replacement program, for an extra charge we'll provide you with a FedEx label to return your product. If your device is within the warranty period the charge for this service is $19 plus applicable taxes. If your device is outside of the warranty period, the cost of this service is $69 plus applicable taxes.
You can expect to receive the device back 3 days after we receive the unit.  Use our online repair submission process to get going.

Things you should know about your battery
This product uses a non-removable battery. The battery should only be replaced by a Motorola-approved service facility. Any attempt to remove or replace your battery may damage the product.
The DROID RAZR MAXX is feature-rich and can run a virtually limitless number of applications, making it useful for many tasks. Your particular usage will affect how long you can go before recharging your battery.  Playing games, running applications, and surfing the Web increase the power use of the computer-like functions of the DROID RAZR MAXX. Calling and texting utilize its phone functions.  Depending on your use mix, time between charges will vary. We know you want to use the device to its fullest and offer you these tips to help you get the most from your phone while going as long as possible between charges.
New batteries are not fully charged. Plug the battery charger into your phone and an electrical outlet. Your phone might take several seconds to start charging the battery. Charging time from 0% takes approx. 5.5 hours.
    Tips:
It is recomended to use a wall charger to charge the phone instead of USB cable plugged in to a computer.
It may take several charging cycles for your battery to reach optimum performance.
If your device is completely discharged, it may take several minutes for the device to begin charging.
Ensure you are using a Motorola specific charger. Other chargers might take longer to charge your battery, or cause your calls to fail during charging.
    Tips to extend battery life:
During initial set up of your Google and social networking account, your phone's battery may drain faster than usual due to the amount of data transferred. After the initial sync, and a few charging cycles, your battery will reach its maximum capacity. We strongly recommend to keep the phone attached to the charger during the initial sync.
See where you power is going: Tap Home > Menu >  Settings > Battery information > Battery use.
When setting the phone down after use, quickly press the power key to invoke a blank screen. Selecting a shorter back light duration will also help conserve power by blanking the screen when not in use.
Lower the display brightness. Set Brightness to Automatic or low: Tap Home > Settings > Display >Brightness
Set Screen timeout to 1 minute or less: Tap Home > Settings > Display > Screen Timeout
Turn animation off: Tap Home > Settings > Display > Animation > No animation

In addition certain Facebook, Twitter, Email and other apps that constantly sync over the internet can reduce your battery life. We recommend you use the Motorola task manager application. Task Managers let you monitor how apps use memory and processing power and identify apps that are using too many resources.
Reboot your phone If you are getting only a few hours of battery life or your phone is running slow, it is probably not your phone. An app or widget is probably the cause. Restart your phone to clear background apps: Press and hold the power button > Tap Power off. Then turn the phone back on. Daily reboots can help keep rogue apps from taking battery life.
Use the AC adapter to charge your phone whenever possible.
Toggle Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS on or off as needed. These can be placed on your desktop by selecting an open area of your screen and selecting them. individually or using the Android Power Control Widget.
Clear all notifications from the notification bar as much as possible.
Ensure you do not have have duplicate email accounts. Duplicate email account will drain battery life. To check for duplicate email accounts, touch > My Accounts > Advanced set up and ensure there are no duplicates. To remove an account, touch the account > Menu > Remove account.

    Tip No.2  Screen Lock..
    https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/86349/p/30,6720,8417
How does my screen lock and unlock features work with the Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) upgrade?
With Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) your device now has several different lock options available.
To access your lock options, touch   > Settings > Security.
    Screen Lock Options
Slide - provides no protection, but lets you get to the Home screen quickly, or open Camera and start taking pictures immediately.
Face Unlock - lets you unlock your phone by looking at it. This is the least secure lock option.
Pattern - lets you draw a simple pattern with your finger to unlock the phone. This is slightly more secure than Face Unlock.
PIN - requires four or more numbers. Longer PINs tend to be more secure.
Password - requires four or more letters or numbers. This is the most secure option, as long as you create a strong password.
The Lock Screen on Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream sandwich) uses two timers. The first timer is the "Sleep" timer which turns off the device display to extend battery life. You can turn the display on and swipe to unlock. The second timer called the "Automatic lock" timer turns on security features like pin, pattern, password or face unlock and protects the device from unknown users. This "Automatic lock" timer begins after the "Sleep" timer expires and you will be asked to enter personally recognizable data like pin, pattern, password or the face unlock when the display is powered on.To adjust the "Automatically lock"  timer go to Settings > Security > Automatically lock > Select desired time frame. To adjust the "Sleep" setting go to Settings > Display > Sleep > Select desired time frameIf you are using facial recognition and do not want the "slide to unlock" to appear, set the "automatic lock" timer to "5sec".Power button instantly locksThere is a new option in Android 4.0.4 which will automatically lock the device when the display is on and the power button is pressed.  As soon as the power button is pressed your device will lock.To activate the "Power button instantly locks" setting, go to Settings > Security > Toggle the Power button instantly locksIt is important to note your phone may contain security policies set by your IT administrator which may override any settings you attempt to set under screen security. For example, if you set your phone to automatically lock for 30 minutes and phone locks after 10 minutes, it may be due to security policies set by your IT Administrator.  Please contact your IT Admin for more information.

  • Carriage returns in Spotlight Comments - tip

Because I could paste returns into the Spotlight comment window, I figured there was a way to place carriage returns into the window [without copying a return from TextEdit].
    ctrl-return works on my PowerBook
      Mac OS X (10.4.3)   Titanium PowerBook (15")

The email is formatted poorly by the sender.
The screen width for a PC is min 640x480, which is large enough to display the email with the extar carriage returns on every line.
The  Blackberry has a much smaller resolution, even with smaller text (which you could try but I wouldn't count on).
The BB removes extra CR/LF's (ie if you have three or four per line, it will only show one), but it isnt going to reformat the entire email.
Especially since the email is generally formatted for a reason.
The sender has not formatted the email (thatws an auto-reply email, right?) for small screens or mobile devices.
If you open the email in outlook and then reduce the window size to 1/4 or smaller than you will see the exact same thing on the Outlook email...
So, there is nothing you can do on the BB. Its the sender who needs to change their emails.

I am installing CC&B 2.1 on Oracle RAC 10.2.0.3. Is there anyone in the forum has experience of this and wants to share / compare notes. The architecture is 2 SUN M4000 servers (32gb RAM) for RAC with dataguard standby physical and logial. The set up is in Test at the moment and I have only noticed one issue so far that is the threapoolworker keeps crashing. I have also had both nodes reboot at the same time as this issue and will raise an SR anyhow.
Any comments , tips , discussion welcome

Refer to Note: 887848.1, although it's for CC&B 2.2 and for some other DLL it should work in your case.
    ID: 887848.1
The web server of CC&B 2.2 relies on the 32-bit Java platform to function.
The solution is to uninstall the JDK, and re-install the 32 bit versionOn other note, on x86_64 architecture the supported platform for Windows is Win2K8 Server SP2 (64-bit), I'd be reluctant to install CC&B on Vista.

  • No customer comment or suggestion page

I've been looking for a customer comment or suggestion page on the apple website. Maybe I'm missing it or it's hidden. Any help would be great. I like the new control console on the ios7. I just wanted to suggest putting a location services button onto the control console. I travel a lot for my job. It would make it more efficient for me and my battery life. I hope this goes somewhere. I would think many others would like this too to make the iPad and iPhone better products

Submit your feedback directly to Apple using the appropriate link on the Feedback page:

Should you forget that, it's the first link that comes up if you go a Google search for "apple feedback" or "apple comments" or "apple complaints". Not hard to find.

  • Creative do stand for the lacking support of their produc

I can't see anybody on this forum who hasn't got problem with cracking/noise sounds - it's a known problem. But the thing that do surprice me is the way Creative tackle the problem... by doing nothing, try to bring the motherboard manufactors to wear the blame for not making Nforce-4 motherboards and aged chipsets anymore to stay ali've with the ancient X-fi testing boards. Creative, how creative that now might be, just get a hang of it. We payed for a working product, not for a product potentially working on a fi've year old chipset and motherboard design. Manufactors like MSI, Asus, etc. does not stand for the problem with the X-fi support, it's up to you guys at creative to keep the things running by corporating with these companies and solve the problem if you cannot do that on your own - don't be so blind and hardass. If I got a cup and it just matched the volume my bottle of soda, I find that to be good. But if that bottle of soda volume is increased while my cup?remains in the same?volume then it will drip over the sides. It's not the cups fault things tip over. That's exactly what Creative has been doing, they found a good match between their new product and a old chipset, but once there's a new and better chipset, Creative just didn't catch up, the rest of the industries improvements dripped over the sides of their companys. That's exactly why Creative needs to solve this problem RIGHT NOW or you'll drown in your own unability to take actions. This thread is highly relevant as it gives a more realistic idea of what Creative is doing... Nothing. We got one or to admins on the forum and a few people on the Support, but their words are not actions are does not mean anything if they do not make things change, and they will not. Therefor this forum and their effort is not worth the time - the time should be spent by Creative fixing this problem, but they don't, becuase they don't want to spend money on us who foolishly bought their products in the hope they might actually work. Thanks Creative for ruining my gaming Experience. X-fi is a big Xtreme-FU.

Hard to disagree with the man. If these were budget cards it'd be one thing, but the fact so many of us are getting lumbered with such a horribly anti-atmospheric bug after paying a relati'vely premium price for a sound card is quite another.
It's not even just this forum. Look at product reviews for the cards on shopping sites and the buyer comments have plentiful complaints about the crackling. And if you do a Google search for words that contain 'X-Fi' and 'cracking'? A good 28,600 results. Change 'cracking' to 'crackling' and you get another 6,900. 'Popping' brings up 9,800. Some of those results may overlap, but whatever the case we're in the region of many thousands.
This is not an isolated problem. It may affect a minority, but a minority can by definition be anything up to and including 49%.
Of course, when you're the leader in a market with hardly any competition, why spend the resources, right? :/

  • Why did Macmail stop working on my desktop yesterday?

Yesterday, Apple did an “update” to Macmail that makes it impossible to get my email.
What are you going to do about it and when?
Thank you for contacting MetroCast Internet Technical Support,

What program are you using on your desktop, and is your desktop computer a Mac? Because if it is and you are using the MacMail program there was an update released from Apple that is causing issues with the program talking to our servers. If it is MacMail I would recommend contacting Apple and let them know you are being affected by this issue. If it is not a Mac or you are using a different mail program I would suggest looking through the account settings to make sure the Username is your full EMail address and clear out any password section and type it in fresh to make sure the settings didn't get corrupted.

Why am I, suddenly, after months of successful email connection, unable to connect to my email? It works on my iPad, my iPhone, but refuses to work on my desktop computer. It worked this morning, but then suddenly stopped working mid-day and I get this stupid message: Can't connect to the account. Unable to verify account name or password.

I haven't got an answer, I'm afraid, but it would be a good idea not to publish your personal information on a public forum.
See if you can edit your post to remove the personal info.

  • Glance 2.0 IN WP8.1 Developer Preview

Recently I had to RESET my phone. Glance 2.0, introduced with Lumia Black, although updated via store, still is not showing notification and custom text. It is still working like older version. Kindly help.
Also, phone is working slow and also sometimes restarts automatically. Apps like Temple Run 2, Messenger, is slow. Keyboard at times lags.
    Device: Lumia 620
P.S. When upgraded from GDR3, Glance works well, but when after RESET its not working well.

  • SG300 and RVS4000 DHCP problems

We recently deployed SG300-28 to replace an old 3Com switch.
    The setup:
RVS400 router and all workstations and server are plugged into the SG300 switch.
    The problem:
Windows 7 workstations are unable to obtain IP addresses from the server which is also plugged into the switch.
If however, we plug in the worstations into the 4 port switch on the back of the RVS4000 (the router), they get IPs from the server no problem.
This worked just fine with the old 3Com switch so we filed it under the Small Business Switches category.
Any comments/tips appreciated! Thanks in advance!
    Pavol

    Pavol,
Please make sure the SG300 switch is running latest firmware 1.1.2.0 , also this is new code so please factory reset the switch after the upgrade. If you need assistance in upgrading please call Cisco Small Business Support Center @ 1-866-606-1866
After the upgrade please repost how these devices are connected and the configuration of your RVS4000 & SG300 series switch. Are you using RVS4000 for your DHCP server?
Also make sure your RVS4000 is running latest firmware as well.

  • Newbie: JSP - JSPX

I am trying to create an app in jdeveloper. after following examples with JSP (pages), i got a few pages up and running. My pages were a combination of html with a few buttons for navigation, with the html formatted via CSS - pretty simple stuff. Now I need to add some fairly complex interface components, and I have read that it is "suggested" that developers use JSPX (documents as opposed to pages) when they are going to use ADF components.
So I thought I would begin again but with JSPX instead of JSP - but I cannot get it to make sense... If I include html elements (eg <div id="anId"> for formatting, and plain text with links included some places) - these will not be well formed XML elements (?), and they do not show in the development environment's design view - however they appear when I run/deploy. Maybe this is just a fluke?
Am I missing something?? how do I use html elements (text, links, layout etc) in JSPX? all the examples I find have bound fields to display information - but this surely cannot always be the best way to show basic information.
Should I use a combination of JSP and JSPX (JSP for the simple pages that are mostly info, links (html), and use JSPX when i want heavier app stuff)???
any comments / tips / links are appreciated...
    /caj

thanks for you comments! I actually got this working myself before reading your relpy, but I did extactly what you suggested - so it was great to get a confirmation that I am on the right track...
I just got a bit too caught up in using adf:document and panel pages, like in oracles SRDemo app (these were much too complex for my initial needs). I am now creating simpler pages OK, hopefully things will go smoothy when I come to the pages with more complex structures (tree menu with a work area that changes based on the chosen branch).
I have now come to another issue (with backing beans), which I will no post in a new post!
    thanks!!!

  • Make local copy for any submit form data provided prior to send/submit

    Dear Sir/Madam,
I am trying to achieve a behaviour of firefox 22 under Ubuntu 13.04 Linux that has to do with forms/submit.
The result I want to achieve is to have a copy filed for each registration form, personal information provided like job application forms done on websites with multi step submit/apply button at the end.
The copy "bill" I am after would simply be adding on a scroll the screenshot for the webpage(including scrolling areas) to a localcopy.
The idea is to look for words like "register", "Address" "Job", "Application" on the page where a form/submit has been detected and simply compound save all displayed steps with data inserted by me.
For me a lot of this makes sense since prior to for example sending mails or letters by post I file a local copy for my reference ect. This would be an electronic equivelent of it.Saving tremendous energy and time compared to manually saving each step and then looking for a way to name/organise and "collage" all the bits into one receit/bill/scroll.
How can I modify or achieve this behaviour on Firefox 22 under Ubuntu?
I have installed addons like InFormEnter, SessionManager iMacros Lastpass...
an arrow/menu started similar to InFormEnter near a submit button as a method to confirm a loacl copy prior to sending would be ideal.
    Sincerely yours,

UnMHT is OK but it doesnt work well when used with the HP chat support window... Here is an attempt to explain what I am trying to get at

  • Novell Cluster Services on VMWARE

I am currently running a 3 node cluster (oes2sp2 Linux) connected to an EMC SAN. This cluster was commissioned, fully patched, etc 250 days ago. It's been running smoothly and hasn't missed a beat :-) The nodes are bare-metal installs.
Now I've been tasked with investigating the possibility of virtualizing the nodes using VMWare (and making use of VMotion).
This will give us the ability to have 6 virtual nodes rather than 3 physical nodes.
What is the general feeling of the community with regards to:
    1. Virtualizing cluster nodes
    2. How complex is the setup on VMWare
    3. Could I do a rolling migration from physical to virtual
Many thanks in advance for any comments, tips, advice, etc

    lot of talks about this, many things to consider.. here are few atleast;
If you have (or buy) VMware HA and vMotion, do you even need Novell
    Cluster Services anymore?
if you want vMotion, you need to use vmdk for storage, which might be an
issue for large volumes.. or not?
For large storage you could use RDM LUNs directly from SAN. But then you
cannot use vMotion or run many nodes (of the same cluster) on one
    physical server.
We are running multiple three node OES2 NCS clusters on three VMware
servers, using RDM LUNs from EMC SAN. Did a rolling migration from
physical Netware clusters using the same LUNs.

  • Sql Developer and Kerberos authentication

    Hallo,
IHAC interested by implementing SQL Developer in his IT environment, but, for the moment, the authentication to the Databases is done via Kerberos. The latest version of SQL Developer allows OS Authentication, but it seems that Kerberos is still not an issue.
    Any comments/tips/ideas to that subject?
    Thank you in advance
    Eric

SQL Developer 1.5 does not support Kerberos. This is a feature request to be addressed in a future release.

  • Help having program sleep during execution

    Hello,
I am writing a program in which alot of data is being displayed, but I want to slow down the speed of the text so it can be viewed. (Like sports commentary, play by play)
I tried using a thread (perhaps incorrectly, as a thread doesn't seem needed here anyway) sleep and wait functions, but they both cause my GUI to be "busy". (ie. my screen is blank until the thread finishes)
Basically, the program does some analysis, prints out the data to the JTextArea, and then analyzes more data, prints it to the textarea, etc..
How can I slow down the text display to the user, so they can view the data slowly without the GUI being killed?
I would greatly appreciate any help/comments/tips!!
    Thanks,
    Paul

Thanks everyone for your help. I got it working. I made the entire routine a thread, and then after writing the data to the textarea, used a sleep.
It didn't work until I made the entire routine (not just the part that writes to the textarea) a thread.
    Thanks again for everyone's help!
