Re-writing the query in 11g

Hello,
Can someone suggest an idea to rewrite this query? this query is taking longer time as expected probably
they way the query is formed is not right? Thanks in advance! I use 11g

You should look at this thread {message:id=9360003} to get an idea of what other information is required.
However, I would be inclined to re-write it as a (outer) join instead of a scalar select. Somethign more like:

    The query which iam executed is fecting more number of records ..so its taking long time in sql plus to get the entire output. So i aborted in the Middle of the executions and generated the plan based on that sql_id

    Your output is inconsistent with initial data :) But
    select * from t start with parent_id is null connect by parent_id = prior id;

    default 'select COLUMN_NAME ,DATA_TYPE from all_tab_columns where rownum <=2';--where TABLE_NAME = || ||p_tname;
    p_tname has the value for TABLE_NAME .
    for this I need to include the value of p_tname in single quotes.
    i want the output as
    'select COLUMN_NAME ,DATA_TYPE from all_tab_columns where rownum <=2';--where TABLE_NAME = 'oracle' ';
    how to do so?

    First step is learn to write correctly more or less because in SQL you cannot write r inestead of are. Second step is read Oracle concepts manual (http://tahiti.oracle.com) to understand the basics of Oracle. And then continue with other docs like Preformance tuning guide, application developers guide etc. Probably then you can ask more precise question and others can provide more precise answers :)

  • Issue while writing a query in table type select.in the physical layer

    Hi gurus,
    I am actually trying to create a table using select in the physical layer..... i acutally am not aware what it is called but its when i click a table in the physical layer i have an option table type and i chose select which allows me type my query..the query is
    Select
    coln name(which is a lengthly list of conversion) AS column_name
    From Table name.
    when i view the data rom the physical layer everthing seems to be fine. but when i try to view the data in the frnt end it gives me an error maximum length is too long than 128....
    i am aware of this issue the sql server allows only column of length 128..but none of my column length is greater than 128..
    Could you please help me in this

    Thanks for the reply....actually the corresponding reports for this have already been prepared...i created a view in the backend with the same select which i wrote before and and tried calling the view from her.. i have viewed the data and all is perfect...but when i try viewing it from the front end it error saying invaild object name select * from databasename.dbo.View_name...but i have checked the view exists in the backend...

  • Using an "EXISTS" test in the QUERY parameter for an expdp

    Has anyone successfully used EXISTS in the QUERY parm during an export datapump? I can get IN to work, but not exists:
    Works:

    It's like Oracle is aliasing the table or something, such that when I try to reference it in the WHERE clause of the subquery, it can't recognize it. Any ideas on another way of writing the EXISTS test? I can use IN, but in some cases that might be a list of values over 500,000 items long. Looks like an EXISTS runs faster as a SELECT statement, so I thought the same might be true during the datapump process.

    It looks like boolean expression in query does not work in expdp where as it works for in clause as in that case it is referring to export table column and matching it to the value from other table.
    "where export2.state = export1.state)" also will not work as you are only exporting export1 table so it does not have references to export2 table (as there is no select for export2 table)

    Start the Visual Administrator, log on to the SAP J2EE Engine and choose "<J2EE_SID>" ->"Server" -> "Services" -> "Log Viewer".
    The file "defaultTrace.trc" includes detailed information about the error that occurred. In Windows, you can find this file in the Log Viewer under "Cluster <computer name>" -> "Server <server number>" -> "<drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\JC<INSTANCE>\j2ee\cluster\server<NUMBER>\log". ". In Unix, the file is located under "/usr/sap/<SID>/JC<INSTANCE>/j2ee/cluster/server<NUMBER>/log".
    If the file does not include enough detail about the error, you can increase the log level to obtain more information. To do this, choose "<J2EE_SID>" -> "Server" -> "Services" -> "Log Configurator". On the "Locations" tab page, choose "com" -> "sap" -> "ip" -> "bi" -> "webapplications". Using the selection list on the right side of the screen, you can increase the log level, whereby "DEBUG" represents the log level with the most information.     If you are using any JAVA based applications or objects in the Report designer this error is thrown.
    It's better to install Java engine to correct this error.
    You must contact Basis people in order to solve this issue.

  • Getting Brain Error while saving the query--Need Immediate solution

    Hello Experte
    I designed query like this.
    G/L account structure is defined in Rows. Before explaining about columns Let me Explain u about my ORG structure.
    Company codes are defined in R/3 like this.
    Company Code
    1000 for Local Currency(HSL01)
    2000 to 7000,IEL for group Currency(KSL01).
    Iu2019m extracting the data as it is from R/3 to DSO and again by writing routine I splitter the data for months(EX: HSL01 is ApriL,Hsl02 May,u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026.KSL01 April, KSL02 may,u2026u2026u2026. Upto to 16 periods) this is R/3 data. This data I differentiated based upon currency types. If currency type is 10 then Local Currency 30 Means Group Currency.
    Again Iu2019m receiving the data from Flat Files for subsidiaries(IEAI,IEG,IEEL,ISSCI,IHAL,TTM-US,TTM-INDIA,TTIT). This data I loaded first into DSO by writing Routine at field Level for G/L account to convert G/L Descriptions into Numbers.
    After that I loaded data from first DSO to Second DSO by writing to convert respective currencies into INR and again loaded to cube by Direct mapping.
    Again Iu2019m receiving the eliminations data from R/3 through Ztable. This also Iu2019m extracting from R/3  and loaded into dso and again into cube.
    Now I will Explain about my Report.
    In Columns I defined 3 selections for each month.  U can observe that in Document. Like that for each month Iu2019m getting three selections and for subsidiaries 2 selections for each month. If we observe total Iu2019m getting 13 selections for India and 9 selections for each subsidiary. If subsidiaries increase I need to increase selections, automatically columns will increase. Now for Q4 2 new subsidiaries are  added I need to added. After adding and while saving the query then only Iu2019m getting brain error.
    Could any one sort out this.

    Diagnosis
    Query ZQ3_MISGRPSUMMARYREPORT_010209 contains 8192 differing selection cells. However, only 8191 selection cells can be processed in a query.
    Procedure
    Please simplify query definition ZQ3_MISGRPSUMMARYREPORT_010209.
    This was the error i'm getting. How to simplify this....

    Dear all,
    I have a problem for writing a query,
    country: name,code,population.
    economy:country(code),gdp
    in the economy table i have gdp of each country, i calculated sum of the GDP of all countries and then half of it(50% of world GDP)
    then i should calculate the minimum population of the countries needed to have this 50% of GDP.

  • Very slow simple spatial query on 11g

    I've created two spatial tables as following:

    I then loaded both tables with data from a shapefile.
    The state shapefile is just the US map with all the states.
    The region shapefile is the same US map with only 5 regions (Northeast, mid atlantic, mid west, south, and west).
    I created the region shapefile from the state shapefile using ESRI ArcMap to dissolve the States border. So Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, and DC is one polygon; New York and up is another polygon, etc.
    I also created the same two tables, with the same data in SQL Server 2008 (KatMai), as well as in PostGRE 8.3.
    Then I ran the following query:

    Region 2 is Mid Atlantic and I was expecting to see:
    STATE_NAME
    District of Columbia

    Instead, Oracle 11g only returned "District of Columbia"
    The query took 6.4 seconds to run.
    On SQL Server 2008, I got the expected result and it took 0.4 seconds to execute.
    On PostGRE 8.3, I also got the expected result and it took 0.5 seconds to execute.
    Why is Oracle not returning all the States? Is this a bug?
    Am I doing something wrong???

    I can't follow your post, but...yuck.program is just inserting records into T2 table, but on T2 table is trigger and inside trigger is SQL command "UPDATE TABLE T3 ..... where ......". In this time is T3 already filled with 60569 records.
    And inserting going slower and slower. Without trigger is speed ok. But on oracle 10g speed is ok with this trigger. So I am concern about what could changed in oracle 11g and cause such behavior.
    I will try produce some simple test example
