Reacreate the SE16 Data Browser

Hi everyone,
I was trying to implement the SE16 Data Browser at my localhost with the NW04s SneakPreviw.
But unfortunately, I found out an error that I am not able to solve.
Can anyone help me? I'm stucked.

There is no way to programitically bring up the dialog window for the timestamp control. I recommend building your own dialog window VI that will work by opening when you want the user to set the time and when it closes, it can programatically update the timestamp control. It will not be as pretty but it will be just as functional.

Root Loop, Time/Date Browse and DAQmx Watchdog

I've just run into the issue where the time/date browse calendar control blocks execution of my system. See here for discussion about this problem.
I've got a data aquisition loop running that uses the DAQmx watchdog, and opening that browse window is causing my watchdog to starve, thus causing my application to shut down. Curiously, when I open drop down menus, as Jack illustrates in the aforementioned thread, I do not see the same behavior. It's not really clear to me what is causing it to block, but the dropdowns don't.
I'm wondering if anyone has any further explanations, or suggestions for workarounds.

One solution I did in the past to solve this was to create my own Data/Time dialog in LabVIEW and hide the native button and add a normal button to the front panel which invoked this dialog. Since that makes the dialog a normal VI the root loop problem is not present with that. There is a VI in resource/dialog/picktime.vi that looks like the dialog used in the date/time picker but it isn't since making changes to this VI won't appear in the native dialog. LabVIEW seems to use an internal C implemented dialog which is the root cause of the root loop being blocked since the dialog message handler is running in the same thread as the root loop.
Creating a copy of this VI in your own project and adding it through your own custom time browse button should solve the problem.

The "Data Browser" window won't open in CS5

Hello,
Choosing View->Data Browser from ExtendScript Toolkit CS5 doesn't make the window or panel visible. All of the others work except in my mind the most useful one. It works fine in the CS4 version on the same computer. I'm running Windows Vista 64 with latest updates to both the OS and to the CS5 Master Collection.
Please let me know if what I can do to get it to show up.

Sort of. As part of the next update we'll make Muse ignore the 125% scale setting. This will make it easier for you to use that setting with all your other applications, but even when your Display is set to scale 125% the Muse UI will be presented at 100%. Unfortunately the current transition architecture of Muse (part native 64-bit app and part Adobe AIR app internally) combined with how Windows 8 and 8.1 achieve 125% scaling means it will be quite some time before Muse will be able to correctly support 125% Display scaling. while filtering data by using dimensions in excel it is taking so much time.
Ex:
I browsed 15 measures in excel and filtered data based on time(quarter wise) and other dimesion product. It is taking long time to get data.

Hide the Data browsing tab

Is it possible by altering some configuration file to hide the data browsing tab in sql developer ?

Hi - Thanks for the response.
I have built a custom tab that allows browsing of the data but with a no parallel hint. This limits the amount of parallel query slaves that the application consumes across the database from a large number of users browsing data tables etc. I simply want to remove / hide the default tab and replace with the custom one.
I have requested a no parallel hint option ( which is how other gui`s like toad manage this) in the feature request section but unfortunately this has not been implemented so far :(.
This is a real problem for me as my database often runs out of sessions because of the large numbers of parallel query sessions used by sql developer and the fact that sql developer holds onto these sessions even after the query or data browsing has stopped. We are in the process of raising a service request with Oracle for this issue as on occasions users manage to accumulate as many as 400 PQ sessions just by looking at a few tables one after the other.

Where is the binary data of this icon stored and retrieved from Application server?

Today I observed one phenomenon and could not explain it per my knowledge.
I have one url which points to an icon in application server:

I could successfully open it via chrome:
and after that I could see an entry in ICM server cache. Everything works perfectly.
Then I tried to check this icon in mime browser in SE80. To my surprise, the folder /sap/public/bc/ur/nw5/themes is empty.
However, the ICM cache shows that there is a subfolder called "sap_corbu" under "themes" folder. But why I cannot find it in mime browser?
Then I write a report to retrieve the binary data of icon via CL_HTTP_CLIENT, and clear the ICM buffer via tcode SMICM.
I expect this time some database table will be queried to load the content of the icon, since now the buffer is not available.
To my surprise again, in SAT no database table is involved.
So now I am confused: since I have already cleared the ICM server cache, where does the icon binary data come from when I run the report to access the icon?

Hello guys,
one colleague today told me that there is a zip file "ur_mimes_nw7.zip" in MIME repository /PUBLIC/BC/UR/ur_mines_nw7.zip. I download it locally and unzip it and indeed find many theme folders including sap_corbu folder and its resource files. So I guess there must be some logic done in web application server which will unzip this archive file and put each theme folder to the corresponding folders in application server. I would assume those logic are done outside ABAP stack side, this is the reason I cannot find any hint of them in ABAP backend via tcode SAT even I clear both client and server side cache.

External Data Refresh Failed. We cannot locate a server to load the workbook Data Model. ThisWorkBookDataModel

Hi All,
I have been trying to fix this for days now. I have tried solutions in many articles but to no avail. So while the error message is something you may have seen may times, I just can't find a solution in my case.
This is the error:
And in text just in case the image isn't viewable:
"External Data Refresh Failed. We cannot locate a server to load the workbook Data Model. We were unable to refresh one or more data connections in this workbook. The following connections failed to refresh: ThisWorkBookDataModel."
What is worse is I have checked the ULS (SharePoint Trace Logs), the Event Viewer Logs and the OWA Logs and I cannot find a specific error that would help pin point the problem.
Excel Workbook
So what am I doing? I have an Excel 2013 workbook and I create an "SQL Server" connection to the AdventureWorksDW database, add a pivot table and a pivot chart, test in in Excel and all works fine.
I save the Excel workbook to SharePoint 2013 and then select "Data" then "Refresh All Connections" and then I get the error in the picture above.
Even more puzzling is I have another Excel workbook that also has pivot tables and pivot charts in the AdventureWorksDW2012Multidimensional cube database in "SQL Analysis Services" and this works fine. Hmmm.
My Environment
My environment is Windows 2008 R2 Server, SharePoint 2013 with the April Service Pack1 and a separate server with OWA2013 SP1. It has an SQL Server 2008 R2 database which has been upgraded to SQL Server 2012.
Data Model Settings
In Excel Services this is set to my server name which is "server-name". As I do not have instances all I can enter is the server name. As this works everywhere else including the workbook outside of SharePoint I do not think this is the problem.
But I could be wrong.
Unattended Account
I have set this up for the PowerPivot Services App and Excel Services App.
ODC Connections in Excel
I have tried all 3 authentication modes, Windows, Secure Store ID and "None" which is the unattended account. I have not tried the other connection types, should I?
Not in WOPI
I am not in WOPI mode.
AD Accounts
I have added permissions in the SharePoint Services and SQL Server, and as they work in Excel outside of SharePoint, I do not think it is a permissions issue. I could be wrong of course, but the problem is in one of SharePoint, OWA, AD,
SQL Server, Excel, and Windows Server.
Isolate the Error
Below is a list of errors I think are relevant but they do not tell me much. The SharePoint logs are not really giving me an error that tells me what to do and where to do it, or even why it cannot refresh, (perhaps not noticeable by the untrained eye).
Problem with SQL Server Not Analysis Services
So my cube database in analysis services works fine in SharePoint/OWA but not the databases in sql server. This is my best clue but I have no idea what it means. Why would it work with an Analysis Services connection but not an "SQL Server" connection?
It Works Outside of SharePoint
If I run the excel worksheet outside of SharePoint all works fine. When inside OWA this is where the refresh error occurs.
Errors from Event Viewer on SharePoint Server using ULS Viewer
"Failed to create an external connection or execute a query. Provider message: There are no servers available or actively being initialized., ConnectionName: , Workbook:"
"Refresh failed for 'ThisWorkbookDataModel' in the workbook 'http://server...'. [Session: 1.V22.26itT0lx8piNFeqtuGVhN214.5.en-US5.en-US36.98c0e158-9113-46e9-850e-edda81d9ed1c1.A1.N User: 0#.w|ad\testuser1]"
And an error in the ULS under the "Data Model" category:
"--> Check Deployment Mode (server-name): Fail (Expected: SharePoint, Actual: Multidimensional)."
This last error, as it turned out, defined the problem concisely, although I was yet to work out what it meant in some detail.

I finally solved this myself (or should I say with the help of several key articles).
The refresh did not work because the database was not in "SharePoint Mode". Yes, SQL Server has modes, 3 of them in fact.
If you installed SharePoint to the default SQL instance which would be called <servername> then you cannot use this default instance for Excel 2013 workbooks in OWA 2013 because the refresh only works if the database is in SharePoint mode.
So what are these 3 modes? The Deployment Mode property in the msmdsrv.ini file has them as:
0 = Multidimensional mode (the default whenever you install SQL Server normally)
1 = PowerPivot for SharePoint mode
2 = Tabular mode mode
How do you know what mode you are in? That's easy, open SQL Studio Manager and connect to all your SQL database engine instances (ignore Analysis Services or SSRS as they are not database engines). If you only have the default instance then that is almost
definately in Multidimensional mode which is the default and what SharePoint installs its databases to.
You must have an instance called <servername>\POWERPIVOT. This instance is the "sharepoint mode" needed, and the default instance name when you install an SQL instance in this mode.
If you don't see <servername>\POWERPIVOT in SQL server then you are not in "sharepoint mode". It is more accurate to say, you do not have an instance that is in sharepoint mode. This is because you cannot simply switch modes on an SQL server.
You have to install a new instance in the required mode, thats the only way.
That's easy enough. Load up the SQL Server setup CD and run setup. Install a brand new instance and select "SQL Server PowerPivot for SharePoint" when you get there in the wizard.
Now you will have the default instance that stores all the SharePoint databases and that is in mode 0, and a new instance called <servername>\POWERPIVOT that is in mode 1. The "<servername>\POWERPIVOT" instance connection is what you
will use for Excel 2013 when rendering in OWA 2013.
You also need to ensure OWA 2013 is not in WOPI mode for Excel worksheets. See the last link below for more information about WOPI.
Next you should go to the Excel Service App in CA and click Data Model Settings and add the <servername>\POWERPIVOT instance.
Then you have to either turn off the firewall on the SQL server machine, or create an inbound rule on the Windows firewall to open the TCP port for the <servername>\POWERPIVOT instance:
1. Start Task Manager and then click Services to get the PID of the MSOLAP$InstanceName.
2. Run netstat –ao –p TCP from the command line to view the TCP port information for that PID.
Finally, you can now create Excel 2013 workbooks that run in OWA without refresh errors, as long as you are connecting to the <servername>\POWERPIVOT instance. Hooray.

Detect if time/date browse button was used

Hi,
I have a position control vi for indexing elements inside array and displaying corresponding time and date. I have large number of control signals inside my block, but I have removed all irrelevant blocks and signal for this discussion. I have replaced all unnecessary controls with constant values, so don't waste time analyzing it.
If you take a look at my vi, you will see Star/Stop control, Position control and a time stamp indicator (Waveform time) with a time/date browse button from another time stamp control. I have all desired functionalities, but I have problem when using browse button for setting up time. I can't set my time two times in a row at same value because I'm comparing "Last entered time stamp" value with current one just entered. I would not like to completely change my blocks because I'm using a lot of property nodes and variables inside my project. I'm just looking for a way to figure out if time/date browse button has been pressed so I could jump to desired point in my recorded waveform.

I can't change Waveform Time Indicator to a Control because that would make other controls much complex (not shown in attached vi)
I have modified my block to the simplest form. I have changed some control names.
There is now only one problem - how can I detect if user has pressed time/date browse button? I'm not interested at this point which value has been entered.
I need to replace User has entered value in Jump to time/date with some kind of Boolean logic or event case.

I am having trouble with the jQuery tabs browser. Please help!!!!!!!!

I inserted the jQuery tabs browser and it is not working properly. I was just testing it so I haven't changed some of the coding yet or the wording. The problem is that when I test it in live view it shows actual tabs but when I look it up on the remote server it shows the word tab and then has paragraphs under each word. I want the tabs. Not sure what to do. Anybody please help. I am getting very close to my launch date. Thank you ahead of time.

I am having the same problem and have contacted Canon, they've answered me several times with things to try but nothing they've told me to try helps. It looks like they are going shrug, scratch their heads soon and pass the buck to Microsoft or HP my comp make .

In Which R/3 Table, the Extraction Date should be RESET to Limit DELTA ???

We have a daily delta extraction setup for DataSource 0FI_GL_4 from R/3 into ODS. I think there is a table on R/3 side where we could RESET the extraction date (?) to limit the delta reload incase something goes wrong with delta process. Without this reset, it may take 2-3 WEEKS for us.
Is any one has any idea about this table , PLEASE....

Reason and Prerequisites
For test or correction purposes you require a function to repeat delta extractions.
In the standard system, you can repeat the delta extractions for the last sixty days.
The number of days is defined by the 'DELTIMEST' parameter in the BWOM_SETTINGS table.
For all DataSources mentioned above you can repeat the delta extraction without problems because all DataSources use an ODS object. The system automatically filters out data that is selected several times.
Solution
The solution consists of resetting the time stamps used for the delta extraction in the BWOM2_TIMEST table to a certain date.
To do this, you must reset the 'X' marker in the 'LAST_TS' column for the last successful delta extraction.
The next delta extraction then loads all data created or changed as of this date to the BW system.
To reset the 'X' marker in the 'LAST_TS' column, use the 'BWOM2_TIMEST' report. If the report is not yet available in you system, you can install it as described in Note 836288.
Caution - important note
If you repeat several delta extractions in a run using this note, the number of the extracted records will in most cases be smaller than the total of the individual delta extractions.
This can happen in the following cases:
If documents are contained in several individual delta extractions due to document changes. The system selects these documents only once.
If you have set parameter BWFIOVERLA = X in the BWOM_SETTINGS table. (See Note 485958)
In this case, the upper limit of the period for the data selection is not, as usual, 23:59:59 of the previous day. The system also extracts all existing documents of the current day. These documents are also contained in the following delta extraction.
1. If you can load the expected data volume in one delta extraction, proceed as follows:
Execute the 'BWOM2_TIMEST' report for the relevant DataSource.
Remove the marker in the entry of the last delta extraction.
In the columns for the date of the time stamp and the time of the time stamp, you can see up to when the individual data extractions have extracted data.
Select the entry up to which the data in your BW system is still correct.
Save the changes.
Do not make any further changes in the BWOM2_TIMEST table.
              The next delta extraction uses the date + 1 of the selected entry as a lower limit for the data selection and the current date - 1 for the upper limit.
2. If you must load the expected data volume in several parts, proceed as follows:
Caution: There are the following two cases:.
a) The 'BWFIOVERLA' parameter in the BWOM_SETTINGS table is not set.
           Execute the 'BWOM2_TIMEST' report for the relevant DataSource.
           Remove the marker in the entry of the last delta extraction.
           In the columns for the date of the time stamp and the time of the time stamp, you can see up to when the individual data extractions have extracted data.
Select the entry up to which the data in your BW system is still correct.
           Save the changes.
Do not make any further changes in the BWOM2_TIMEST table.
               The next delta extraction uses the date + 1 of the selected entry as a lower limit for the data selection.
You can control the upper limit for the data selection by changing the ' BWFISAFETY' parameter in the BWOM_SETTINGS table. The upper limit is determined using the current date minus the value of the 'BWFISAFETY' parameter (default = 1).
If you want to extract the data of the last twenty days in four parts, for example, set the parameter as follows in Transaction SE16:
before the 1. delta extraction > > BWFISAFETY = 15
before the 2. delta extraction > > BWFISAFETY = 10
before the 3. delta extraction > > BWFISAFETY = 5
before the 4. delta extraction > > BWFISAFETY = 1 (= default)
b) The 'BWFIOVERLA' parameter in the BWOM_SETTINGS table is set (=X).
           First, deactivate the 'BWFIOVERLA' parameter in the BWOM_SETTINGS table. This is necessary because if you do not do this, the system ignores the settings of the 'BWFISAFETY' parameter.
           Execute the 'BWOM2_TIMEST' report for the relevant DataSource.
           Remove the marker in the entry of the last delta extraction.
           In the columns for the date of the time stamp and the time of the time stamp you can see up to when the individual data extractions have extracted data.
Do NOT select the entry up to which the data in your BW system is still correct, rather select the entry before that.
           Save the changes.
Do not make any further changes in the BWOM2_TIMEST table.
               The next delta extraction uses the date + 1 of the selected entry as a lower limit for the data selection.
You can control the upper limit for the data selection by changing the ' BWFISAFETY' parameter in the BWOM_SETTINGS table. The upper limit is determined using the current date minus the value of the 'BWFISAFETY' parameter (default = 1).
If for example you want to extract the data of the last twenty days in four parts, set the parameter in Transaction SE16 as follows:
before the 1. delta extraction > > BWFISAFETY = 15
before the 2. delta extraction > > BWFISAFETY = 10
before the 3. delta extraction > > BWFISAFETY = 5
before the 4. delta extraction > > BWFISAFETY = 1 (= default)
                and parameter BWFIOVERLA = X to return to the originaldelta mode.
