I need an accessible "read more" script which when clicked
opens the 2nd and subsequent paras. I would prefer not to have a
page refresh but the paras just unfold. I want to keep the hidden
text in the html page (not in the js file).
I use dreamweaver 8 and want to apply this code in several
places on the website.

It sounds like you just need to associate the PDF filename extension with Acrobat, rather than Preview. I was reveiwing recently an episode on AdobeTV with Colin Smith regarding a very neat trick applying a style with Illustrator and repeating business cards on the same page. Very cool idea and way of using that effect indeed. I particularly like the fact that you can store and save that effect as a style so you can use it over and over again.

A question came up to my mind about an issue and some possible limitations of this "Effect", since it can only resize objetcs by entering % values but nowhere can one can enter numeric values instead. Of course you can perform that task with the "Transform Pannel" but you cannot do it with the "Transform Each Effect". Let's say that you have many logos on a page that you would like to reduce/enlarge to a certain width or height for each one as 2" width for example, you would have to do the math first to figure our what would be the % and then transfer this result in % to the "Transform Each Effect" so it can do the task.
In such a case, you cannot use the "Transform Panel" to reduce all the logos at the same time to a individual width of 2" because Illustrator then consider the width of all the logos globally or as a "Group" but not each one of them. So you would end up with the wrong result. And, going futher with the math would means further steps and maybe involves then other "Trial an error" tests before acheiving what you are looking for.

Like the author says at the end of in his video, you can always make a small "Action Script" but it involves more steps andfurther testings. So more flexibility is needed here from the "Transform Each Effect" and I tend to agree with the gentlemen on that matter. As you may know, many of us who are involved in production the simple task of rearranging/transforming logos is performed many times for certain projects. By adding this feature to the "Transform Each Panel" would be a great help to us all. Also, just imagine if that feature could then be save as a "Style", what a great time saver it would be for all of us!
I know that you can first rezise one object with the "transform Panel" an then use the the "Transform again" command in order to apply it to the others. But you cannot do it to all at the same time because Illustrator apply that transformation then globally. Also, if the some logos are let's say of various sizes it does not work at all.
Is there another way some of you may know how to do it simpler? Is there a special "Plugin" available with Illustrator that you may know who could perform that type of task?
May I finally point out that i'ts not a matter of doing that small task but the pain rather resides in doing it over and over again. So I do beleive that flexibility is needed here for us all...

I use No Scripts to block all scripts when i browse. I upgraded to Firefox 8 and noticed that my no scripts was not working. When i checked the addons, it said no script will install when i restart. I have restarted multiple times and it still has not installed. I have tried reinstalling no script, that does nothing. I have reset my extensions.ini and other related files and that did not help. The options to enable/disable the non working no script extension is not available. I basically don't know what else to do. Any help i appreciated.
If you get 'Unable to process the backup file' then there is usuallya problem with the current places.sqlite file.

Why will new Photos ap on mac not email? No "email" pulldown -shows "more" for extensions which has Outlook checked but does me no good.
I am struggling with the same problem. I have two HP 4100dtn printers on ethernet. Each has a manually assigned IP address. I can set up the printer(s) just fine in the Print & Fax Preference and Snow Leopard finds the printer just fine when I enter the IP address and chooses the correct HP Driver.
When I try to print, my print job appears in the queue as expected, than an error appears that something about a "bad command". Sorry, I'm home right now and don't have direct access to the printer so I can't give you the precise language of the message, but the gist of the message is that the system tried to connect to the printer to send the print data but the printer does not know how to respond to the command that was sent.
It's as if the firmware in the 4100 just doesn't have something in it's lexicon that Snow Leopard needs. The HP web site is no help. One page I found says the printer is supported (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&obje ctID=c01664444&jumpid=regR1002USEN ) and another page I found says that it is not supported (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&obje ctID=c01879014&jumpid=regR1002USEN). The HP on line chat won't let me log in and hold a chat with HP unless I know the Serial Number of the printer, which I don't have here at home.

Blog issues: duplicating pages / read more
Hello - thanks in advance to all the great helpers out there.
1) using Blog pages as an announcement vehicle for son's school. Each class has a "blog" where I will post parent announcements. I have one set up exactly as needed with font, colors, etc. Cannot duplicate blog page. Apple confirmed. So can I easily save as a template and then make the other NINE class pages or do I have to do each one separately (ARGH!), which is huge pain in rear due to no grouping and no pasting of styles.
2) Any way to get the "Read More" link off? Many of the "blog entries" are straightforward announcements that are only two to three lines etc. I have the summary blog page showing the whole entry so there is no need for a parent to click to "Read More". But the "Read More" link still there. (Double ARGH!)
I really like using the iWeb blog functionality this way and I intend to hand off maintaining site to other parents so I can't really go the "embed a blog from wordpress" route etc.

LizLiz ~ Many people post problems here having just one iWeb blog — and you're setting up nine blogs for other parents to maintain?! ...It's okay to set up a system that's likely to be difficult to maintain if you're the one who's going to maintain it. But when those other parents start having problems, they'll likely wonder why you set it up that way. It's also restricting to require that the other parents have a Mac running Leopard and iLife '09 and that they pass iWeb's Domain file around to each other.

Why not? ...You just set up a web-based email address, e.g. [email protected] (telling the other parents the email's password) and then use that email address when you register a new web-based blog, at say Posterous or WordPress, etc. (Again, telling the other parents the blog's userid & password.)

...So you could have just one Ning site with nine tabs for the nine class blogs. And Ning has many more community features that you'd probably find useful.

How do you change the "read more ..." in the Blog page to something else?
I'd like to change the "read more ..." in the Blog page to say something more relevant to my site. How can this be done?
I searched the forums and found an earlier response to this question, but I don't quite understand it:

I'm a little confused by this reply. To open the index.xml.gz file within the app, do you navigate there with Terminal.app, unzip it, edit the file with Text Edit, then re-gzip it?
Second, why do you delete index.xml.gz afterwards?
And third, will this need to be redone each time iWeb is upgraded?
Has anyone tried this and know if this is the correct way to change the words, or is there some other way?This tedious process actually edits the template xml file within the iWeb application, so that it becomes the default with the template. I haven't done this before, so I'm the wrong person to advise on this.
I tend to like to do things that are on a simpler scale. You can always make a text box with an opaque background color that matches the blog template background. Then type something else into that text box, like "click here to see more of me" Then position this text box over the standard "read more" and link the text to the blog entry.
The downside....you'll have to do this (at least position the text box and change the link) each time you add an entry. -
Hi wondering if anyone might be able to help me out. I am an audio engineer and my wife is a voiceover artist. We just got the ipad thinking she could record her voiceover auditions on the go, but we can't for the life of us figure out how to record audio while reading a script off of her email.
Looking for an app that:
Either can record audio while in the background (garageband cannot)
OR Import text (copy paste I guess?) to read while recording
The app needs to be able to edit audio and export or email out an MP3 - by edit audio I mean trim, fades, and move around sections.

The best app is TwistedWave. It allows easy editing and recording, and also allows you record while you are in another app (such as a script your agent sent in your email)

my main objective is to restrict user from attaching a file by using navigation pane because I'm already giving buttons to attach a file on the pdf and I want user to attach a file ONLY using buttons on the pdf. Can I achieve this by any other way?

Why am I missing URLs for "read more" entries
No matter what I do, I cannot get the URLs, that are the files for the "Read More"on my blog entries, to copy to my remote server site.
I can see which ones they are but when I try to drag them to the Server Site independently but the server won't accept them.
And so, after publishing, you can see my 'home page" of the blog, but when you click on "Read More" it says, Safari cannot find the file (that URL).
I'm publishing (or trying to publish) to my web files on my Earthlink server.
Sure would appreciate help.
ElaineTurns out... Earthlink will not allow files with longer than 30 some characters and the iweb file I needed was 40 some characters so I downloaded Fetch and can now upload the files I need.

That's a bug in whatever Java program you're running.
That's not an error specific to OS X.
(There's usually a whole lot more text dumped by Java, too.)
