READ THE MANUAL

The number of topics in this forum that could be addressed by the simple statement "Read the manual" (or its imperative form with an 'f' word in it somewhere) is amazing!
Come on Apple, make READING THE MANUAL a prerequisite of using your superb technology! Yes, sometimes people DO have problems, but none so great as mis-sold expectations presented by others, but REAL problems have simple solutions: get your network operator to replace your faulty unit as soon as you know that the problem is not only 'finger-trouble' - just the same as before iPhone ever appeared in the Universe!
Just a thought married with annoyance at wasting time on 'nothing' problems married with a rant at the lazy and the mock-helpless about 'heal thyself' by READING THE MANUAL..... Forgive me for I have sinned (but not QUITE as much as some)!

A link to a web-site that a user may not be able to access is not the same as a 'Help' button/facility that gives direct access to information in (almost) all circumstances, is it?
True, but how often are you without any internet access whatsoever via an available wi-fi network or cellular?
And if/when this does occur - no internet access whatsoever, you are basing this on needing access to the iPhone manual right then and there. Possible, but probably not likely.
Oh, and yes, I did delete the links that I found (personally) to be unnecessary and replaced them with some which I found more useful because if you can do anything on the web then you can always search for stuff, can't you.......IF you can do anything on the web, that is.....
Why search when you have a bookmark that takes you right to it?
To each his/her own.

  • How do I send an iMessage, a step by step answer. I have read the manual and it doesnt explain how

Can someone explain how you send an iMessage. I know how to send texts and emails but I only want to use the iMessage so that my company bill doesnt show text numbers called. I have got iMessage turned on in settings. I have read the manual and it says you can do it but it doesnt say how.

Thanks for your response. It helps a little. I now dont know how to change the send button from green to blue. What determines how the message is sent?
I know in the settings I can turn off "send as sms" so that should stop text messages being sent. I went through my contact list and selected a few people at random and noticed the send button was green for some and blue for others so I am thinking it may be either something they do to let me iMessage them or it is something I have to do in my contact list.
    Do you know?

  • EQ Problem (I have read the manual!!)

First, I have read the manual and know how the EQ "Off","Flat" and others are supposed to be difference. Knowing this, I am sure that the EQ on my iPod Touch does not work properly. The problem is like following:
I have about 30 songs in my iPod that has "Rock" as their EQ presets. But when I play these songs in my iPod with EQ "flat", the EQ pre-set for those songs (i.e. Rock) has no effect whatsoever. The evidence of this is, I start playing music with EQ "Flat", and the sound quality for those songs seems normal, so I set the EQ to "Off" and then "Rock" to test this, and my conclusion is, those songs under "Flat" sound completely the same as they are under "Off", and sound completely different under "Rock". This means the pre-set "Rock" for these songs are not working because otherwise the their sound effects under "Rock" and "Flat" are supposed to be the same.
I am sure that this has nothing to do with my headphone since I have tried the original apple one and a better Philips one. The problem remained regardless which headphone I used.
Also, the firmware of my iPod is up-to-date. I also have the latest version of iTunes.
I am wondering if this is a problem of my iPod Touch itself, and I am wondering if so can I get a replaced one. I kind of worry about this because there is no apple store in my city, and that my iPod was purchased online so I have no receipt, but the iPod was guarunteed to be new when I received it like 10 days ago since it was sealed inside out and had never been regiestered. Did anyone ever have this problem and/or know the solution to it? Thanks.

i have 2 512 of golden dragon 3200 what would be the recommended configuration for my type of memory.
thanks for you patience with my off the wall questions.

Put em in slots 1&2 if it runs fine, cuz that the optimal setup for that board.

  • Read the manual; still can't get it right

i've followed instructions on setting path and classpath, but still can't get the HelloWorldApp to work right. it makes the .class file fine but the java HelloWorldApp command gives this to stdout
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloWorldApp
maybe i have the classpath set wrong..currently it's set to C:\jdk1.3.1_01\bin\;"." is it supposed to be somewhere else? well when i use codewarrior it all works fine but i only have a trial version of it and would like to do the command line thing 1) because it's free and 2) because i like typing the commands ...also i have the exact same problem to overcome on my linux box..same error message as above.
    any help is greatly appreciated..

    Hello Fueley,
I can see that you are running JDK 1.3.1_01 on a Windows OS of some kind. On different Windows OS you have a a different place to set CLASSPATH environment variable. For instance, in Windows/95 you can set CLASSPATH environment variable in the autoexec.bat file. While in Windows/NT you set CLASSPATH environment variable in the Environment tab of the System Properties of the Control Panel.
First clear your classpath by typing in a DOS window:
    C:> set CLASSPATH=
Then point your classpath to the current directory. The current directory is indicated by a period. The quotation marks are not needed.
To set your classpath, type in a DOS window:
    C:> set CLASSPATH=.
If you want to, you can add other paths your classpath, for example, the dt.jar and tools.jar
    C:> set CLASSPATH=.;C:\jdk1.3.1_01\lib\dt.jar;C:\jdk1.3.1_01\lib\tools.jar
    See http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/install-windows.html#Classpath for more information.

  • Dumb Newbie cannot send to color-And I read the Manual!

OK. I have been slogging my way around FCP, mostly having fun. But one thing is driving me crazy,
and I hope and pray you can tell me what I am doing wrong. Basically, I am unable to send sequences
to Color. When I try, after I name the Color Project Name, and hit OK, instead of opening up the sequence, the Projects window pops up, showing my various hard drives. I can make a new project, but nothing happens. The sequence does not open and only the Project window is available. And yes, the sequence is selected. The clips within the sequence are ProRes 422 HQ. Any ideas? I am sure it is something simple, but it has been two days and I can't figure it out. Thanks!

Shouldn't be doing that. You have a sequence (hope its 'legal') selected in the Browser. Under File... Send To... COLOR... the COLOR Project Name dialog opens... accept the default which is usually the sequence name... if you have to supply a name, you aren't sending anything. OK the dialog. COLOR opens. It may momentarily show the control surface dialog and the main default project directory, but the app is designed to pipeline straight into a project otherwise.
You have furnished no other clues as far as hardware configuration is concerned, but COLOR would normally warn you that you were below minimums if that were the case. Have you attempted to open COLOR directly? To create a new project you must supply a name and "SAVE" it. Might be worth a try to see if there is some other mode at work.

  • How can I download files from my PC to my new I-Pad? Mainly PDF files. The manual doesn't make sense to me...

I have read the manual on how to transfer a file from a computer to my I-Pad. It says in I-Tunes, go to devices Apps pane...
I open the I-Tunes App and can not find anything referencing an Apps pane.
    What am I missing?

You connect your device to your comptuer and open iTunes. Once it 'sees' the ipad, you can click on the name of your device and then you should see the tabs. In the Apps tab is your interface to remove apps, also to use the file transfer protocol - if your app supports that - to move files from your computer to your iPad. You can also use this interface to move the app icons from menu page to menu page on your device.
First, to use that apps tab, you'll need an app that'll read PDF files.
The file structure on an iPad is different than that from a computer or Mac. There is no general 'overall' file manager. Every file on your iPad needs to be associated with an app. So to read PDF files, you'll first need to install an app. iBooks will read PDF files. as will ReaddleDocs. I also see goodreader recommended a lot. So just search for PDF reader and find one that looks good to you.
Install the app. After the app is installed, you can go to the apps tab and move files onto your device.

  • How Can I configure the 6024E board for reading the voltage from a source?

Hi, I have a little problem, I want to use the 6024E board for reading voltage from a source and then display this on the monitor, and also I want to change the voltage from the output using the computer. I read the manual but I don't understand how to connect and configure the board. It is to proof that the board receive and send information.
Thanks, sorry for my english, I'm from Mexico, if you don't understand something about my explanation tell me.

Thank you, now I'm trying to do my project and I have another question, there are differents ways to connect the source and I choose the NRSE configuration because I'm going to use a grounded signal source... well in the manual says "The signal is then connected to the positive input of the PGIA, and the signal local ground reference is conenected to the negative input ot the PGIA. The ground point of the signal should, therefore, be connected to the AISENSE pin." I don't understand this because I only have two wires and here is talking about three connections, please help me, how do I connect the source to the board? I have the positive wire and the negative wire.... maybe is because I don't have a perfect english and I don't understand the sentence...

When I put a burned cd from one Mac into another Mac, song titles do not show up! I have to enter them manually! My CD player reads the titles that i on the cd; how can I get my Mac to do so?

The problem is that I burned these CD's myself from music that I added from my personal collection to iTunes. The INFO is ON the CD's (it appears perfectly when I put the CD in my Numark mixer...so I know the info is on the CD), but for some reason, my MAC PRO will NOT read the info on the burned CD when I place the CD into the MAC PRO. The CD was burned on a MAC that I no longer own. But there HAS to be a way to transfer songs from a burned CD with the INFO that is on the CD burned with iTunes.

  • I want to check all functions of PCI 6534.I have read the user manual..I have some memory related questions. Please help me for that.

I want to check all functions of PCI 6534.I have read the user manual..I have some memory related questions. Please help me for that.
1.)If i am using the continuous output mode.and the size of generated data is less than 32 MB.If i want to preload the memory, what should i do?I want that first of all i load all my data to onboard memory & then i want to make start the transfer between 6534 & peripheral. Is it possible? As per me it should be.Plz tell me how should i do this?I think that in normal procedure the transfer between 6534-peripheral & outputting data from pc buffer to onboard memory works parallely. But i don't want this.Is it poss
    ible?
(2).Similarly in finite input operation(pattern I/O) is it possible to preload the memory and then i read it?Because i think that the PC memory will be loaded automatically when 6534 acquires the data and then when we use DIO read vi the pc buffer data will be transferred to application buffer. If this is true,i do not want this.Is it possible?
    (3) One more question is there if i am using normal operation onboard memory will be used bydefault right? Now if i want to use DMA and if i have data of 512 bytes to acquire. How will it work and how should i do it?Please tell me the sequence of operations. As per my knowledge in normal DMA operation we have 32 Bytes FIFO is there so after acquisition of 32 bytes only i can read it.How it will known to me that 32 bytes acquisition is complete?Next,If i want to acquire each byte separately using DMA interrupts what should i do?Provide me the name of sourse from which i can get details about onboard memory & DMA process of 6534 specifically
(4).In 6534 pattern Input mode,if i want to but only 10 bits of data.and i don't want to waste any data line what should i do?

    Hi Vishal,
I'll try to answer your questions as best I can.
    1) It is definitely possible to preload data to the 32MB memory (per group) and start the acquisition after you have preloaded the memory. There are example programs on ni.com/support under Example Code for pattern generation and the 6534 that demonstrate which functions to use for this. Also, if your PC memory buffer is less than 32MB, it will automatically be loaded to the card. If you are in continuous mode however, you can choose to loop using the on-board memory or you can constantly be reading the PC memory buffer as you update it with your application environment.
    2) Yes, your data will automatically be loaded into the card's onboard memory. It will however be transferred as quickly as possible to the DMA FIFO on the card and then transferred to the PC memory buffer through DMA. It is not going to wait until the whole onboard memory is filled before it transfers. It will transfer throughout the acquisition process.
    3) Vishal, searching the example programs will give you many of the details of programming this type of application. I don't know you application software so I can't give you the exact functions but it is easiest to look at the examples on the net (or the shipping examples with your software). Now if you are acquiring 512 bytes of data, you will start to fill your onboard memory and at the same time, data will be sent to the DMA FIFO. When the FIFO is ready to send data to the PC memory buffer, it will (the exact algorithm is dependent on many things regarding how large the DMA packet is etc.).
    4) If I understand you correctly, you want to know if you waste the other 6 bits if you only need to acquire on 10 lines. The answer to this is Yes. Although you are only acquiring 10 bits, it is acquired as a complete word (16bits) and packed and sent using DMA. You application software (NI-DAQ driver) will filter out the last 6 bits of non-data.
Hope that answers your questions. Once again, the example code on the NI site is a great place to start this type of project. Have a good day.
    Ron
