Read VBAK records till given date
Hi,
How can I improve performance for below statement ?
SELECT VBELN VKORG VTWEG ERDAT
INTO TABLE I_VBAK
FROM VBAK
WHERE ERDAT BETWEEN MIN_ERDAT AND P_ERDAT
AND VKORG IN S_VKORG
AND VTWEG IN S_VTWEG
AND VBTYP IN R_VBTYP.
P_ERDAT would normally contain today's date. It is a user selection. User wants all records till P_ERDAT from VBAK.
MIN_ERDAT : It is derived in program so BETWEEN statement can be used instead of using statement as WHERE ERDAT LE P_ERDAT. It would contain the first record from VBAK table.

Hi,
When you try to fetch data using non-key fields, it will fetch all the data and then only the condition is checked. So you may try with some other tables for this with key fields.
Then for optimizing performance see transaction se30 and in tips and tricks you can try different select queries and see the time taken. Take the best query.

If your requirement is up to the selection date you'd better use a parameter (which can only hold one value).
Then define a range in your program:

I have the Requirement as follows.
I Have a Table which Contains Duplicate Dates like

31.10.2006
15.09.2006

16.09.2006
etc...
The input is monday of any week of a Year. Suppose 3 rd week starts from 15.11.2006 and ends to 21.11.2006. Weekly 5 days are working days. If i ienter the 15.09.2006 as input.....
The Required out put is : 5 Records ( In above example 15.09.2006 to 21.09.2006 total Number of records is 5. I mean 15.09.2006 is Found 4 times + 16.09.2006 is found 1 time in the Specied Range.
total: 4+1 = 5 records.)
Simply...my requirement is to find total number of Records(with Duplicates) in the Given range .

I have two records in Infoytp they are related to one employee the only change is the Familly status.
those records are consective.
I want to find out if given period i.e 02/02/2001 to 02/28/2001 between those recodes

Is there any function module to read such as case.

Find material Stock to given date
I have been asked to customize the standard report transaction MB5L. I have created ZPROGRAM for the report. I have an input field for date to get material stock till that date.How can i calculate material stock till the given date ?
Basically you will have to use
An "historical" table with stock at end of periods
- MBEWH Material Valuation: History
- MARDH Material Master Storage Location Segment: History
etc.
A "flow" table for movement before last period recorded and date asked for
- MSEG/MKPF Document Segment: Material
- BSIM Secondary Index, Documents for Material
<i>(Use MSEG/MKPF for quantities and BSIM for valuations its easier than matching the two files, valuation can vary without movement in MSEG and some movement in MSEG don't reflect in accounting)</i>

How to read relevant record type from file into LSMW ?
Here my req is like this.

some of records in file are begin with 'AD'.
i want to read only that records from file while reading data.
i created one field in source structure with record type filed.
even i had given this Identifing Field Content:AD
but after reading data from file its reading all records from file.
But it should read only record type AB from source file.
How can we achieve this?

press the change mode button after the double click the filed which is pass the AD value
then it will appier one popup window in this window you have one check box like " selection parameter for import/convert data"
tick thic chekc box and save it.
now when you read the data in Step9 , here you find select options there you enter AD* now you will get the only records start with AD. -

Oh I might as well add my thoughts on this as it is kinda an important subject. I'm sort of a different kind of programmer where there have been several times I have wanted to see the changed results that another session is doing. I agree that the rest of the sessions should not be able to SEE the changes until they are committed. HOWEVER, as some examples show below, I don't see why a custom package can't be developed to allow a different session to be able to query the changed data for a particular SID, or even begin issuing DML commands of their own on this changed data to help change it further.
In reality, there is no reason why a single (and I emphasize single) session is the only one who can see the changed data. It's the other user sessions that really should wait until all the necessary changes are complete before others can see the changed information. There isn't much point in me trying to explain this in great detail, but overall YES other users should wait until the changes are committed, but NO I do think I should be able to connect to another SIDs sessions and be able to view/perform operations on this changed data.
There are more than enough examples of why others should wait before changes are committed (which I agree), but as some of these real life examples point out, there is a need to let more than a single session perform such changes, each of which need to see each other's changed data.
No I am no expert on transaction processing (Andrew knows more for sure), but I've done enough to know as a developer I have a number of times wanted to be able to access/monitor another sessions uncommitted data. I think some records might be viewable using committed AUTONOMOUS_TRANSACTION records, but I've yet to really try it out much.
Examples where one wants to see others uncommitted data
(+) Say I want to change a hundred / thousand / million tables for a task. Each of these tables require joins/lookups to see each others data (including the changed records). I'm not going to want to do this with one session. Why can't 10 or a 100 sessions be created to allow complex DML operations to be performed to accomplish a given task. It's like thinking of there is 1 session doing this task, but on the oracle side, there are a unlimited number of SIDs processing (100 sqlplus scripts running), all being able to see the uncommitted data. Once everything is done, then the rest of the sessions can see this information.
(+) A process is running and is changing records, and I want to monitor its progress or even assist it it's getting behind.
(+) A real life example I just remembered was a soccer game done overseas where a time zone problem allowed people to still be able to place bets even after the game was over (they still paid people even though they knew the final score which was nice of them). In this case yes a process should have been stopped from allowing bets/inserts to continued, but having a second (or more) processes being able to KNOW for certain that another session is inserting data when it shouldn't be, this is can be stopped. And yes once again you can say one can monitor the sga for the appearance of inserts and stop it and yes remove the insert privs from that user after a certain time (come to think of it that wouldn't have worked since the time was off). But yes a whole slue of other things could have been done to stop this process from recording this information. However, NOT being able to select data from that table where the inserts were going into, until its toooooooooo late, is a real problem. Being able to see uncommitted information is very important if it needs to be stopped.
Overall I do think there should be something considered to allow to a session to be able to see what data another session is doing, but it's more on the side from administration of the data and the performance required to get a task done, even if it means sharing uncommitted changes between sessions.

Record all the data acquired by DAQ
Hi all,
I have a problem when I tried to record all the data acquired by the DAQ card. My DAQ is NI 6259, and the Labview version is 2009.
Basically, what I need do is using multiple channels to get the voltages of different point, then I subtract values of two channel (V+ and V-) to get voltage value between two points. In my vi, the sampling mode is continuous and the rate is 100 KHz, DAQmx reading is inside a while loop, and the numbers of samples per channel is set to be 100. After each loop execution I would get 100 data. I just used the format into file to write the data into a .txt file. It seems after 1 loop only the last one data is recorded instead of 100. Previously I averaged the 100 data inside the acquisition loop to get one data, so the writing function is OK but it really slows down the program. So I want to write all the raw data to txt file so later I can process them in Matlab. Is there any way to achieve this? Thank you very much.

I tried that, it actually record more data per pulse than before, but less pulses were recorded (there should be 8 pulses in 20 seconds time but only 2 were recorded), I think it was because the for loop inside slows down the program execution, and sometimes the error 200279 occurred. I think it would be better to separate the reading and recording process. Someone suggests me rather than writing to the file inside the loop, accumulate the data from all of the loop iterations to generate one large array containing all of the samples then pass that to Format Into File outside the loop. Do you know how to achieve that? I tried the as below, it seems totally wrong , only two data was written.

I have a situation where i need to find the start day of the period for a given date. is there a way to know that. i want to use that in my report. i enter the date from my report(i have date parameter), depends on the date, i want to display the start day

According to your description, you are using Analysis Services as a data source for the report, the cube has hierarchy: Fyear, FQuarter, FPeriod, fweek, Fdate. You want to add a date parameter to the report, after you changed value of the parameter, the
report will return the first day of FPeriod.
To achieve your goal, we need to add a parameter to the report, then use the parameter in mdx query. For detail information, please refer to the following steps:
In the Report Data pane, right-click on a dataset created from a SQL Server Analysis Services data source type, and then click Query. The MDX query designer opens in Design mode.
On the toolbar, click Design to toggle to Query mode.
On the MDX query designer toolbar, click Query Parameters symbol. The Query Parameters dialog box opens.
In the Parameter column, click <Enter Parameter>, and then type the name of a parameter.
In the Dimension column, choose a value from the drop-down list.
In the Hierarchy column, choose a value from the drop-down list.
In the Default column, from the drop-down list, select a single value.
Click OK.
In query designer dialog box, type the mdx query like below:
