Reader X can not open second PDF

Hi there
Have this problem on a PC running XP Pro with SP3.
Reader X can only open one Document. I have uninstalled the Reader and loaded it again but this problem still exist.
any suggestions?
thx

The HP PC is running with 3Gb Ram, enough Free Discspace (over 100Gb Free).
It happens nothing when i try to open a second PDF. I always open the PDF Documents directly with double klick.
But now i got the problem resolved by myself. I deinstalled version X and installed Version 9. Now it works fine again...
Thanks anyway

    What is your operating system?
You don't need Acrobat to view PDF files; can you post a screenshot of that message?
Also, is this a local or online PDF?  If online, in what browser?

  • Can open adobe reader, but can't open a pdf.

can open adobe reader, but can't open a pdf.  have uninstalled reader 2 times and reinstalled it, but still get same results.  running windows xp.

    Three things to try...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

  • Hello, I have transferred my Acrobat XI Pro from old MAC to the new one. After the transfer can not open any PDF file. Any idea how to solve this?

Hello, I have transferred my Acrobat XI Pro from old MAC to the new one. After the transfer can not open any PDF file. Any idea how to solve this?

    Hey ilyaz20360341,
Could you please specify how exactly did you transfer Acrobat from one MAC to other.
You might need to deactivate the software from your old machine and then activate it on the new one with the same serial number (for Acrobat license) or Adobe credentials (for Acrobat subscription).
If you have done the same way, then let me know if you are able to open Acrobat itself.
Do you get any specific error message while opening a PDF?
    Hope to get your response.
    Regards,

  • Can not open some PDFs in Outlook

I can not open PDFs in 2010 Outlook from just one particular email. Other PDFs from other emails open fine.
have uninstalled and re-installed latest Adobe Reader.
    How do I fix?

    Hi,
Do you mean you can't open PDFs send from a particular email address or just the PDFs in one particular email?
Can you view the PDF from web access?
In addition, please try Anil's suggestion, download the pdf to local and try to open it locally.
Please let me know the result.

  • Reader X will not open any PDF

I am running Windows XP SP3 and have just insta
lled Reader 10.1.0 and it will not open any PDF's
created in earlier versions, and just gives me a Microsoft error messag
e any help would be appreciated.  have tried repairin
    gg and uninstalling and re-installing.

Have the same problem and, while not a total solution, offer a work-around that might help you temporarily.
And, yes, I'm running XP SP3 as well, so.....
1.) Find the folder where the Reader X lives (on my system - /Windows/Program Files/Adobe/Reader 10.0/Reader).
2.) Locate AcroRd32 - the file with the Adobe icon.
3.) Right click and go to Properties.
    4.) Set Campatibility to *Windows2000*
Reply "OK" to everything and try opening your file(s) again......
Now, you'll still get the Error message initially, and intermittantly, but the PDF window won't close; you can read the document and saving the file still works.
Again, it's not a fix, kinda cludgy, but it got me back on track even tho the message popping up is an annoyance.
Maybe Adobe will fix it as I've seen several folks here with similar experiences.
    Happ New Year, btw!!

Adobe Reader isn't my favorite, but neither are smug and uninformed assertions about Preview. There are PDFs that render only squares and marks under Preview (http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/24209/this-pdf-displays-with-question-m arks-instead-of-letters), which is a common problem in MS Windows Office generated PDFs, so you may actually need Adobe Reader for Mac.
If you need to use Adobe Reader (as I do), then it may depend on the filesystem type where you save your PDF.  For example, our Macs are network homed.  Saving to desktop produced the error reported above no matter whether I used Safari:Save As, or the PDF save icon.
However, when I saved to a local drive (such as /tmp), then it worked.  I don't know why file system makes a difference, unless Adobe is doing something with extended attributes that doesn't get written correctly to some filesystems.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can not open certain pdf files in browser?

I am having an issue opening pdf's that allow you to enter data and then submit them. I can open regular pdfs in my browser just fine. I have this issue in IE 7 and 8, firefox, and chrome. It is not browser specific.
I have cleared my temp internet files. I have installed the latest version of reader. I have deselected Allow fast web view.
Like I said, regular pdfs not an issue. The type where I can enter data just provide a blank screen.
    Your help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Adobe Reader 9 will not open any pdf files

I am running Windows 7 and use Adobe Reder frequently. Never had a problem. Last week, whenver I try to open a PDF file, I get a warning box "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
The only thng that changed recently was a couple large Windows updates... I am always suspect when a large update occurs. I uninstalled the Reader and Download Manager and ree-installed themm. No change in performance.
I checked the registry key - it looks correct based on other posts.
Does anyone have any suggestions what else to try??

I've got the same problem. I'll look forward to solving this on this thread.
It really sucks- I have a ton of pdf files, and can't save them to Documents or send them out of the Adobe file.

  • Adobe Reader 8 will not open any pdf files.

I have a Mac OS X G5. I have Adobe Reader 8 installed. I cannot open any pdf files. It has never worked since installing it. I tried going to File> Open with> Adobe Reader> I get an error that says: the file could not be opened because the file is either not supported or it has been damaged (for example it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly coded). This error occurs no matter where I get the file; email or web page.
    Any thoughts? Thanks.

I did get around this problem by trashing Reader 8 and confirming that I still had Reader 7.05 installed
This tip in the MacWorld forum worked for me:
    http://forums.macworld.com/thread/102114
Now I can open pdf files from the internet or email, in Reader 7.05.

  • Adobe Reader/Acrobat can't open online PDF's Suggestions ???

    Hi There-
I am using Firefox for my browser and if I try to open any online pdf page I get the following message
"The Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a web browser. please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your web browser and try again"
I have checked for updates in Firefox, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe reader, which is 9.3 version. But to no avail,,,I still get the same message. Any suggestions would be helpful.
    Sincerely- Doug
P.S. Let me know if you need further information to help diaganose the problem.

I upgraded from OS Leopard 10.5 to OS Snow Leopard 10.6 recently, which is why I mentioned it could be "the" cause or "one" cause of me not being able to read online pdf's. My online pdf bank statements do not open up with Reader 9.3.3. The website simply says I need to download "Asian Font Pack" in order to read the pdf document. I've downloaded all languages, yet I'm still getting the same message. I've also triple checked to see if I have an older version of Reader that might be of hindrance. I only have 9.3.3 installed.
I am able to read pdf's already downloaded on my computer, just not the online pdf's I want to open.
So, I'm not sure if the problem is Adobe Reader or me upgrading to Snow Leopard (since I was able to read pdf's with Leopard).
I hope this clarifies my previous plea for help. Thanks.

  • Updated to Maverick. Can not open many PDFs now.

I updated my Mac to Maverick last night. This morning I went  to open a PDF and got an error:
I get this error with every PDF in this directory. I have found I can open PDF's in other directories fine. I can open the PDF's in Illustrator, Photoshop and Preview without issue. The PDFs were working fine yesterday on a Mac and PC. The PDF's live on a server and still open in acrobat on other PC's and Mac's that are connected to the server, just not on mine. Any ideas on what I can do to resolve this?

  • Can not open any PDF's

I currently have Adobe Acrobat/Reader 8.1.2 installed on my computer. I have Windows XP. I've been trying to download PDF documents, and for some reason, a window always pops up displaying "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try again". So, I click the "OK" button. Then it seems as if Adobe Reader is going to open, but then it stops and another window pops up with this message: "Adobe Reader 8.1 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
It really is driving me crazy, because I can't figure out what the problem is. My computer if currently updated, so I just can't think of what it may possibly be. Please HELP!!!

I cannot open jpg attachments in email and get this message: Could not open becasue it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been changed. This is now happening on an email that I could previously open.
In addition, when in Pictures, I click on a picture and the same message appears. I can right click, go to Open and open the picture.
I am running XP and have downloaded the latest Adobe Reader in an attempt to fix my problem.
    What is happening?
