Reading Dictionary table from VB

Hi,
As a process to retrive data from SAP into VB, i need to read SAP tables remotely from VB. I am able to connect to SAP using objects but i need a way to read the table data. Could you pls suggest methods...
Thank you
anan

Hi,
Once you connected to SAP, it is easy. Use the remote enabled function module name
RFC_READ_TABLE
to read the fields and content of a given table.
Pls let me know if you need detailed explanation about data retrieval

  • Read internal table from report.

    Hi all.
I want to know is it possible to read internal table from report without modifying the report. is there any function module by which we can run the report and read data from internal table?
    Thanks.

    hi
    hope it will help you.
    <REMOVED BY MODERATOR>
Read table doesn't allow ne operator.
It reads only one record...Either by index or key.
    READ TABLE MY_TAB INDEX 1.
READ TABLE MY_TAB WITH KEY CODE = 'ATG'.
these are the results for SY-SUBRC checks after read table
    SY-SUBRC = 0:
    An entry was read.
SY-TABIX is set to the index of the entry.
    SY-SUBRC = 2:
    An entry was read.
SY-TABIX is set to the index of the entry. This return code can only occur when you use the COMPARING addition. For further detauls, refer to the COMPARING section of the additions
    SY-SUBRC = 4:
    No entry was read.
The value of SY-TABIX depends on the table type and whether the BINARY SEARCH addition was specified.
If the table is a SORTED TABLE or a table sorted in ascending order of the type STANDARD TABLE with the BINARY SEARCH addition, SY-TABIX refers to the next-highest index.
    Otherwise, SY-TABIX is undefined.
    SY-SUBRC = 8:
    No entry was read.
This return code only occurs with a SORTED TABLE or a STANDARD TABLE with the BINARY SEARCH addition. SY-TABIX is set to the number of all entries plus 1.

I have a scenario where I am trying to Populate TransientVO which is shown has a ADF Read Only Table in page.

  • Read DB2 tables from ABAP program

    Hi All,
I have a requirement to read a DB2 table(in our landscape) from the ABAP program.  I appreciate any pointers.
    Thanks,
    Kiran.

Connecting to an External database from SAP
Step 1: Create an entry for the External database in DBCON table using Trxn: DBCA.
Table: DBCON (Description of Database Connections)
Field Name Description Value (For: E.g.:)
CON_NAME Logical name for a database RAJ
    DBMS Database system MSS
    USER_NAME Database user <username>
PASSWORD Password for setting up the connection to the database <pwd>/<pwd>
    CON_ENV Database-specific information for a database connection MSSQL_SERVER=depotserver MSSQL_DBNAME=HOF_INDORE
DB_RECO Availability type for an open database connect
Step 2: Now you can write code to connect to the external database…
Your Sample code can be something like this……
    FUNCTION-POOL z_houston. "MESSAGE-ID ..
    DATA: BEGIN OF wa,
    c_locid(3),
    c_locname(50),
    c_locstate(5),
    END OF wa.
    FUNCTION z_houston_connect.
    ""Local interface:
    EXEC SQL.
    CONNECT TO 'RAJ' AS 'V'
    ENDEXEC.
    EXEC SQL.
    SET CONNECTION 'V'

    open C1 for
    select
    loc_id,
    loc_name,

    ENDEXEC.
    DO.
    EXEC SQL.

    Output
    FORM loop_output .
    WRITE: /5 wa-c_locid, 10 wa-c_locname, 65 wa-c_locstate.
    CLEAR wa.

  • Clear a table from cache

    hi there,
I am currently trying to analyse the number of physical reads needed to perform certain queries to see which one is best.
I am not getting accurate results because the table is being cached after the first query.
Basically, my question is how can I remove the table from the cache, so I can read the table from the disk with each query?
I have tried the nocache paremeter an i do not have permissions to do:
    alter system flush buffer_cache;
    or
    alter system flush shared_pool;
Any help here would be much appreciated.
    Cheers

    Hi,
you should tune your query regarding consistent gets and CPU time, because disk reads may change and it's simply not real running a DB without Buffercache.
Shared Pool has nothing todo with bufferchache. You store parsed SQLs, PL/SQL and the Data Dictionary in it.
To get your table out of the buffercache drop and recreate it if you don't have dba rights.

  • How to add business logic before populating the read only tables.

    Hi All
Could you please suggest something for the following requirement:
I want to populate read only tables from the data control pallete(Based on VO) into the jsff. But Before populating the table I want to add conditions based on what the data should appear in the table.
    For e.g:
There is a VO fetching the completed and pending tasks by the user. Only one VO is there to fetch the tasks but different tables are used to show the pending and completed tasks..I have created the bind variable for the task status.
Shall I need to add business logic in the backing bean for jsff which is having the setter and getter for the tables.
    Regards,
    Kanika

    Hi,
why don't you specify ViewCriteria on the View Object you use and use a bind variable to filter the table data? You can apply ViewCriteria in the AM data model so that they only show e.g. completed tasks, or you can assign a view criteria that uses bind variables, in which case the table is filtered dynamically by the value of the bind variable, or you use Java code to dynamically apply the View Criterias

  • Readind APO tables from ECC ABAP program

    Hi,
I want to know if it is possible to read APO tables from a ABAP program in ECC 6.0.
If it is possible , please lt me know how?
    Regards

    Hi,
There's a remote-enabled function module (think it's either RFC_READ_TABLE or RFC_TABLE_READ) which you can pass a table name, some selection criteria and a list of fields to be returned.  That should allow you to read those table entries from the remote system.

  • Trace on deletion from dictionary table

    Hi all experts,
we can't figure out why some dictionary tables containing a thousands and thousands of documents are almost empty... :-@ Probably someone (who?) did run a report (what?) and cleared almost a table on a training SRM system.. We'd like to ask you if there's a way to check for modification on a table, e.g. a sort of trace, that could help us clarifying what happened on some dictionary tables's contents.
Please can anyone provide a sort of howto? We passed from a BBP_PDHGP table containing a million of entries, while now it has less that one thousand....

We found out that a scheduled job had stored the table contents just few ours before the deleting process had been started.
We just restored the table from that backup.
However, if the removed entries have been traced in system tables for modification, you could try to take a look at CDPOS/CDHDR tables in order to rebuild and historical trace of the modification that have been occourred (with timestamps).
    Good luck!

    Really appreciate your quick response..
    Thank You

Hi, if you really retrieve an excel file, you can not see the data in ABAP. You may see them in Excel. For this you may use
    CALL METHOD document->open_document_from_table
of the interface i_oi_document_proxy for OLE objects. You can access the data with reference to the interface i_oi_spreadsheet.
Please check [Desktop Office Integration (BC-CI)|http://help.sap.com/printdocu/core/Print46c/en/data/pdf/BCCIOFFI/BCCIOFFI.pdf] for details.
But, who knows, perhaps you want "And Now For Something Completely Different".

  • How to read the data from excel file and store into the table?

    Hi All,
I have table with BLOB datatype contains a excel file. I have to read that data from excel and store into one table with all the fields in excel.
All the excel fields and my table columns are same.
Can you share with me how can acheive this using LOB's?
    Thanks

    Hi OraSuirya,
you can try with external tables .
    syntax as follows
    create table ext_table_csv (
    i Number,
    n Varchar2(20),
    m Varchar2(20)
    organization external (
    type oracle_loader
    default directory ext_dir
    access parameters (
    records delimited by newline
    fields terminated by ','
    missing field values are null
    location ('file.csv')
    reject limit unlimited;
For this you need to create directory
    Directory Creation syntax:
    create or replace directory ext_dir as 'D:\oracle\user_dir\ext_dir';
    grant read, write on directory ext_dir to <User>;
please paste the excel file in the particular directory .
I hope this will help you.
Please correct me if I am wrong anywhere .
    Thanks,
    Tippu.

I have a specific requirement. I got an internal table with many fields (let it be my_tab).  Some of the fieldnames (column names in internal table my_tab) are stored in separate internal table(let it be my_fields).
I need to store/read data corresponding to the fields (whose name is stored in my_fields) from my_tab.
