Reading file from Java Web App?

My application has a custom configuration file that I want to read at runtime.
What directory should I put the file in and how should my code locate the file at runtime?
Obviously, I don't want to hardcode paths.
Is there an easy way to find the file at runtime if it's in my classpath root?
(sorry for the repetition, I posted a vartion of this question at the end of another thread.)

Just read your post in the other thread ... another why of doing this could be to set your own environment variable and then use it within your app.
ie. in a DOS window (or better still, use the Environment Variables option within the Properties of My Computer).
c:\>set myAppCfgFile = c:\myapp\myconfig.inithen in Java.
String pathAndFilename = System.getenv("myAppCfgFile"); // note, environment variables are not case sensitive (or shouldn't be).

  • Reading files from Java embedding.

    Dear All,
My BPEL process has a Java embedding node, and it invokes a Java class, in which an xsl file is being read for transformation.
I deploy the xsl files directory together with BPEL package (the jar). In the package, I put the file dir at the root level, which means the jar structure looks like the following:
    /BPEL-INF
    /META-INF
    /xsd
    /xsl
    *.wsdl
    *.bpel
    bpel.xml
The java class is package in /BPEL-INF dir, it's supposed to read files from /xsl dir.
My question is, how should I put the file path?
I tried "/xsl/***.xsl" and "../xsl/***.xsl", neither works. Although "/xsl/***.xsl" worked when testing in JDeveloper, but FileNotFound after deployment.
    Thanks,
    Haibo

I solved this issue by putting the files dir in /BPEL-INF/classes/. and use ClassLoader to read in those files.

  • Uploading and downloading files from a web app (Urgent!!)

    Hi everyone:
I'm developing an application in PL/SQL to upload and download files from an HTML webpage. I congured the document table and the parameters necessary in the DAD of my application.
when I upload the file using my webpage that file info is automatically uploaded to the doc table. This is as far as I have gotten.
I need to do the following:
    - Place the uploaded file into a column in another table in my database as part of a text message (think of it as an email message), and delete the file from the doc table (as this is thought to be a temp table that holds the file when uploaded from my webpage)
    - Retreive the file so that it can be downloaded from another web page.
The file can be a PDF, WORD DOC, etc...
I now that I can do this with InterMedia but I haven't figured out how :(
Can anyone please point me to an example or some documentation that can guide me through the process.
    DB VERSION: 8.1.7
    IAS VERSION: 1.0.2.2
    Thanks,
    Carlos Abarca

The idea was for you to look at the code and get an idea of how to access the BLOB in the document table. IF you look at the procedure
    insert_new_photo( new_description IN VARCHAR2,
    new_location IN VARCHAR,
    new_photo IN VARCHAR2 )
It shows how to access the blob that is stored in the document table. You can then copy this blob to your own table using the DBMS_LOB package.
    Hope this helps,

  • Uplod word file from java

how we upload word file from java web page?? pls is urgent.

    > i not understand. pls explain?
Ok. Take a look at the Fundamentals-forum where your post is in. If you look at the 30 most recent threads there are more tthen 10 thread about uploading files. A couple of those have some usefull answers which you probably can use.
It's always a good habit to search a forum first before you post your question.
    Good luck.

  • Deleting files from Java app in XP

    Greetings --
I'm currently developing a standalone app that, among other things, needs to read an image in from a remote server and somehow translate it back into an image file. Right now, I'm reading the information in and saving it to file so that I can manipulate it -- but when my program is done, I want to "clean up" by deleting this image file. I haven't been able to find a good way to delete a file from Java - is there a way, even by somehow invoking the old DOS "del" command? Thanks in advance!
    Yours,
    Cheryl/muppetaphrodite

    Simplest way for a file:
    // Assuming String fileName;
    new java.io.File(fileName).delete();
If you want to delete a directory recursively, you'll have to write a recursive method to open a directory using File.listFiles() and checking File.isDirectory() as your guides. Remember to walk a directory completely first, deleting everything under it, before deleting the directory itself.

Is it possible to read data from a web browser such as IE or Mozilla into a java applet for use and manipulation? If it is, could someone please post some documentation I could look at or a snip-it of code I could use? Thanks.

This will read the content from a site:

  • Java Web App for EP5 SP5

    Hi
Recently I developed a Java web app for a Portal client.  The client is on EP5 SP5 with ITS and LDAP servers (a 3 server architecture).  I then used the deployment tool to create the necessary ear file and then successfully deployed it to the SAP J2EE Engine.  I then navigated to the following url:
    http://<portal_server>:8100/<web_app>/welcome.jsp
However I am having trouble with the following:
    1) the jsp pages are not being rendered properly.  in fact welcome.jsp does not have any jsp tags at all but I am still getting a compiling exception.  as soon as I change the extension to .html the page is displayed fine.  issue: why am i not able to view the jsp pages.  error: com.inqmy.services.servlets_jsp.jsp.CompilingException ID 17013
    2) the web app I have developed utilises the sapjco functionality to connect to the relevant R3 system.  in my web app directory structure I have included the necessary sapjco.jar in the WEB-INF/lib directory but get the attached jco error. (I shouldnt need to set the classpath since the sapjaco.jar file must get picked up from WEB-INF/lib directory).  Error: At times I get a NoClassDefFoundError stopping at the line which requires the sapjco.jar file (where it uses JCo.Pool class) and at other times I get the "could not load middleware layer".
I have tried numerous things to fix it but in vain.  Any thoughts around how I could go about resolving the issues will be greatly appreciated.
Willing to provide screenshots if required.

    Hi Alon
Thanks a lot for the info!!
I have read the doco you asked me to have a look at and it sounds reasonable.  But the question that I have is that is it possible to successfully include the relevant jar's in the application's WEB-INF\lib folder?? I ask this since I would expect the SAP j2ee class loader to look at the required jar's in the WEB-INF\lib folder?!? (Also the section on "Adding a Reference from a Deployed Application to a Service or Library" talks about an app that may want to use resources from OUTSIDE the application EAR.)
So if I use any jar's such as sapjco, xerces, activation and mail I will need to add them to the library.txt if they are not already there (which they should be since the portal uses them) and then add the reference in reference.txt.
    Your thoughts will be appreciated.
    Cheers

    Hi Ravi
I used the SAP J2EE Engine Deploy Tool to create the war and ear archives as well as deploy the ear archive.  As I used this tool I included the required jar files inclusing the sapjco.jar inside WEB-INF\lib of the web archive (WAR).  I tested this in a tomcat environment before deploying it to the portal environment.
    1) The screendump is as below:

I would have expected EP5 to be able to find the appropriate jar files.  Especially since it has its own library of jar files to work with.  I was reading some J2EE Engine doco and came across two files library.txt and reference.txt.  Do I need to maintain these files as I deploy my application?
    Your thoughts will be appreciated.

  • How to open Adobe Reader file from another native IOS application?

There is an existing thread, but I want to re-open it because I think this is an important feature that we need badly.  I was wondering if there is any plan to add this feature so we can open PDFs directly into Adobe from the web / other apps.
How to open Adobe Reader file from another native IOS application?
Basically, we just want to use a custom URL scheme to open a specific document in the App.  Currently, this only opens the app but does not load the file.
    APB

Not to hijack the conversation but I can explain why this would be useful for both the above case and another.
What I believe Pavel is talking about is setting up a "URL Scheme" for the Adobe Acrobat iOS application so that you can easily open a PDF specifically in Adobe Acrobat iOS from other native applications and even from web applications opened within Safari. This is particularly useful if your application requires some of the specific features in Adobe Reader iOS to grant them the best experience possible and you want to encourage this.
Another case: If you're using Adobe Livecycle's document security modules (that encrypts PDF files so that Adobe Acrobat must "phone home" to decrypt and view the document), these PDF's can only be viewed inside the Adobe Acrobat application and appear as blank in most other PDF readers. Having a URL scheme allows your application utilising this functionality to have a 1 click step to view the PDF rather than the current non-user friendly process:
    - Within Safari, touch the PDF link (appears as blank in the default Safari PDF reader, which in itself is confusing)
      - Touch "Open in..."
      - Touch "Adobe Acrobat"
We have an immediate need for this functionality for the example above. I can resubmit it in a separate post if necessary.
