Realtime Privacy Monitoring on Smartphones Android sends out info without permission
http://appanalysis.org/
I think it si time for verizon to put a stop to ths NOW

w40d....you are right about that. this is why i wish these types of "studies" wouldn't print things like "30 popular or heavily used apps." i'd like them to actually LIST the 30 apps that they studied. then show tell us, which 15, of the 30, were sharing info. it's possible that none of the preinstalled apps are on that list. if any of them were the preinstalled apps from vzn, then i'd have a much bigger problem with it. THEN i would get up on my soapbox. but we don't know that skype, or any of the other preinstalled apps are sharing info. we only know that about half of the ones they studies do it. if the only ones that are doing this are ones that we have to download, then it's up to us to dis that app. i often see comments when looking into an app to the affect of "why does it need this info....uninstalled" etc, etc. the app will tell you what it needs. if a simple game wants your location then you have to wonder why. it doesn't need your location to function as designed, so i would assume it's sharing it with someone.

  • IPad mail client is sending draft emails without permission

On several occasions, my iPad has sent emails drafted on my gmail account when I never actually sent it. You can imagine how much this can suck if you've saved a sensitive email to work on later, only to find that it was already sent. Not only that, the app frequently mismatches recipient addresses with the wrong message in the draft folder in a random fashion. Another catastrophic disaster waiting to happen. If any of you know what is happening, I'd appreciate being enlightened. If this is a systemic issue, I'd say this qualifies as a major bug.
I believe this happens most when a message is saved more than once in the draft folder. There something unreliable in ehte way the app keeps track of emails.

Did you ever get this figured out?  We are seeing a very similar issue using Outlook 2011 for Mac connected up to Exchange 2010.  Sometimes emails get merged together on send where you end up with something like the subject and body of one email, but the To/CC line of another email.  In each instance both emails that get merged together were originally saved as drafts and oftentimes drafts that have been created and modified a couple of times while going offline and then back online again before being sent.
We have not been able to reliably reproduce the issue or figure out exactly what was causing it.  Posted something similar under the Outlook for Mac forum, but didn't get any hits.
Anyone able to figure out what was causing this or a fix?

  • Server constantly sending out some thing!

    Hi all,
In my last few days, or nearly two weeks I guess, my server is sending out some thing constanly. Do you know what is that? may be this is FlashBack behaviour?
And I check Activity Monitor\ Disk Activity almost is equal 0,  and Activity Monitor\ Network is almost sending out.
I hope this is not virus or malware!
    Any help is appriciate, thanks!

    Hi Hoffman,
I truly appreciate the time you are taking to assist me, great helper as usuall!
I am using latest Snow Leopard 10.6.8, included fixs from Apple about FlashBack.
I also look to the logs but did not find any unusual (at least with me) just one thing I found is too many message "
mail:status = "list-updated"" repeating on 10 or 5 minutes basic when I am not enable Mail service at all.
I running a wiki for internal use but never config any mail service from inside wiki or in Server Admin GUI
Below I attached part of console message and the IPFW rules list

  • Which calendar app has the ability to send out meeting invitations?

I need a good calendar app which I can have on my iPhone and during meetings will allow me to send out invites, without waiting to go to my computer. The default calendar does not do that.

The Calendar app sends invites just fine for me, when creating the meeting I simply add invitees and when the event is added, invites are sent.
You must have a default mail account setup of course.
It also sends updates and cancel emails if things change.

  • SharePoint Foundation 2013 installed on Windows Server 2012 not sending out email notification

I have a server where i installed SP Foundation 2013 on top of Windows Server 2012. I have configured the SMTP as well as the outgoing SMTP in Central Administration
of SharePoint. When i create an alert on a document library, its did not sent any email notification on the changes made to the document in the document library. So, i created a workflow to send out email using SPD2013. The workflow run, but it cannot sent
out email with error saying that outgoing email is not configured correctly. I have checked with another server which i installed SP foundation 2013 on top of Windows Server 2008 R2 - its sending out email just fine using same configuration and outgoing SMTP.
I need help to resolve this issue or at least the cause of the problem.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Try below:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/13771.troubleshooting-steps-for-sharepoint-alert-email-does-not-go-out.aspx
Go to Central Admin ---->Operations----->outgoing email settings and verify that SMTP server is mentioned correctly
    2) Test the connectivity with the SMTP server.
In order to do that follow these steps:
      Open  cmd
telnet <SMTP server name> 25 ( We connect smtp server to the port 25)
you should see a response  like this 220 <servername> Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service, Version: 6.0.3790.3959 ready at date and time
Beware that different servers will come up with different settings but you will get something
If you dont get anything then there could be 2 possible reasons, either port 25 is blocked or
the smtp server is not responding.
For testing response from your server
For testing response say ehlo to it.
                            Type :
                                        ehlo <servername>
                            output:
                                        250 <servername> Hello [IP Address]
Now a test mail can be sent from that SharePoint server.
Now we need to enter the From address of the mail.
                          Type :
                           mail from: [email protected]
                           output:
                           250 2.1.0 [email protected]….Sender OK
It's time to enter the recepient email address.
Type : rcpt to: [email protected]
    output:
    250 2.1.5 [email protected]
Now we are left with the data of the email. i.e. subject and body.
    Type : data
    output:
354 Start mail input; end with <CRLF>.<CRLF>
    Type:

    3)  Check alerts are enabled for your web application
verify if the windows timer service is running or not.
Run this stsadm command to check that
          Stsadm.exe -o getproperty -url http://SharePoint-web-App-URL -pn alerts-enabled
         This should return <Property Exist="Yes" Value="yes" />
If you don’t get this, Enable alerts by:
         stsadm.exe -o setproperty -pn alerts-enabled -pv "true" -url http://SharePoint-web-App-URL
If its already enabled, try turn off and turn on it back.
    4)  Check the Timer job and Properties
           Go to
MOSS 2007:  Central Administration > Operations > Timer Job Definitions (under Global Configuration)
In SharePoint 2010: Central Administration > Monitoring > Review Job Definitions
Check whether the "Immediate Alerts" job is enabled for your web application. check these properties:
                       job-immediate-alerts
                       job-daily-alerts
                       job-weekly-alerts
           stsadm.exe -o getproperty -url "http://Your-SharePoint-web-App-URL" -pn job-immediate-alerts
           The expected output is:
           <Property Exist="Yes" Value="every 5 minutes between 0 and 59"/>.
If you don’t get this, run the following command to set its value.
           stsadm.exe -o setproperty -pn job-immediate-alerts -pv “every 5 minutes between 0 and 59" -url http://Your-SharePoint-web-App-URL
    5)  Check whether the account is subscribed for alerts and it has a valid email account. This should be the first thing to check if the problem persists for some users not for      all.
    6)  Then check if at all those users have at least read permission for the list. Because the first mail should go out for every user without security validation but the next ones       won't be delivered unless the user has at least read
    permission.
    7)  If it is happening for one user, can also try to delete and re add the user in the site.
    8)  Most importantly , you should try this one.
Run this SQL query to the content db < Select * from Timerlock>
This will give you the name of the server which is locking the content database and since when.
In order to get rid of that lock
Go to that server which is locking the content db and then restart the windows timer service.
within some time it should release the lock from content db, if not then at the most stop the timer job for some time
Once the lock will be released then try to send some alerts
You will surely get the email alert.
I found this is the most probable reason for alert not working most of the time. We should start troubleshooting with above steps before coming to this step for any alert email issue but from step 1 to step 7 are best for new environments or new servers.
If the issue is like this ,alert was working before and suddenly stopped working without any environmental change then above conditions in step 1-7 should be ideally fine.
Even after this if it is not working, then you can try these few more steps too
    9)  Try re-registering the alert template:
    stsadm -o updatealerttemplates -url http://Your-SharePoint-Web-App-URL -f  "c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\XML\alerttemplates.xml" -LCID 1033
    10)  Try to clear the configuration cache
If this helped you resolve your issue, please mark it Answered

How do I get rid of a "bot" on my Mac that is sending out erroneous emails to everyone in our address book?

You will have to look around your machine & figure out the name of the program.
    try /application/utilities/activity monitor
I recommend that you get a littlesnitch. littlesnitch will track your Web traffic and tell you which applications are sending data from your computer. Be sure to run it awhile because it will trigger a number of alerts. In trail mode, it will run for three hours per boot for a about a month.

This list maybe different in your release of X.
Check System Preferences>Accounts (Users & Groups in later OSX versions)>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • Malicious user (troll) is sending out my Skype name on Omegle - Help needed

Hello, people!  I am loving Skype, but I have an issue. Recently, a user with malicious intent entered one of the group conversations I'm in on Skype. This user then proceeded to copy all the usernames of this group's members.  This user has programmed a bot that sends out those Skype usernames on a site called "Omegle". This has resulted in loads of unwanted contact requests for all people involved, and it is rather frustrating.  I can provide the username of this user if required, but have decided against posting it in this thread because of privacy concerns.  I was wondering if any steps could be taken to eliminate this issue. Unfortunately, I am aware that this problem may be out of Skype's reach. I have also sent an email to Omegle in an attempt to solve this problem.  Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope to hear back! I am receiving dozens of contact requests per day, from people who do not know what is going on. Sincerely, Mick

  • WRT300N does not sends out WLAN signal to card WPC300N ???

    Hi all,
    Another WRT300N problem
It seems that my router does not send out a signal...
I did update to the latest fimware, all security like MAC, key, firewall etc are disabled, ssid broadcast is enabled, so there are no restrictions no more
LAN intenet connection is no problem, that's the way i work now.
When i scan with the linksys wireless network monitor V.1.09, i cannot trace the router, neither with xp and the integrated wifi card from my notebook.
However just a few times the router flipped on the network monitor, but when i tried to connect , it didn't work : no association with acces point...duh....
A few seconds later he was lost again...
I also tried all channels even auto settings.
I do not know what to do or try for the moment to make the router send out his signal.
Anyone any idea or had the same problem ???
Many thanks to help me out !

Hi…I think you have already tried everything on your router, now uninstall the wireless card WLAN utility and reinstall only drivers for your wireless card, through found new hardware wizard. Or you can even download the latest drivers from website and install them.

  • Send out failed IDOCS as XML files or as email from production client

    Hello Gurus,
We run SAP R/3 in a Retail environment and use MS BizTalk as the interface tool to our POS system.
We have a requirement to be able to send out failed IDOCs to developers / interface team for verification. This is not a regular task, but needs to be done once in a while.
Please advice how this can be achieved in a production region, where the IDOCS can be converted into XML format or emailed out for verification. How are such situations handled at other sites?
All help provided will be useful and rewarded well.
    Many Thanks,
    Regards,

    Hello
I was working with Itunes for a long time with no problem what so ever until suddenly yesterday when I opened it I recived an error message from windows saying the process has to close and will I want to send out an error report to windows.
I went on to move my Itunes library and repair the Itunes via the downloaded installation file but when it did not work I uninstalled it completly and reinstalled it with no effect...
If any one have any idea as to how to solve this pls help....
    thank you

    windows installer has stopped working
a problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is avabilable.
    ... and that's one that I wasn't thinking of ...
Head into your Windows Update. Are there any new updates available for you? If so, and you install, does that clear up the error message?

  • Business iCal sending out multiple calendar invites - one calendar and one account, 2 people using it for work

    First question:
My boss has a Macbook Pro (iPad & iPhone), I have a Dell and iPad.  We use his iCal for our work calendar and my Outlook is logged into his iCal so that I can load appointments & send them out to clients.  He obviously has access to the same calendar so that he can also load appointments.
We have realised that sometimes the meeting invite, although I only send ONE invite out, will send 6 invites to a person. Here below you will see the icons that appear next to the 6 invites that the person that receives it sees next to the invites. It is therefor 3 types of emails/invites that are each sent out twice to the client.  This is obviously not ideal. Could it be that I must not include my boss in the invites (as it is already his calendar sending out the invites), or what could it be that I am doing wrong?
    Second question:
How can I ensure that replies (Yes/No/Maybe/Comments) appear in the iCal meeting, as people reply, but those replies I have to copy and paste into the meeting as they do not currently automatically update in the meeting.
    Third question:
Any suggestions on a better system/method?
    Please help!

I think I know what can help. I also support Mac users in a mixed environment, and find that being able to access a Windows machine to test settings for my iCal users is very very helpful. If you do not have one, I could also fix this one by adding the user's account to my one Mac that runs Entourage.
On a PC: set up one of the problem accounts in Outlook, then go to Tools->Options & click on the Delegates tab. Click on a Delegate name (if they all have the same permission level, you can select all), then click the Permissions button. If the delegate have "Editor" permissions, there will be a little checked box that sends the delegate copies of all those meetings. De-select it.
Lemme know if you want Entourage instructions or if that does it for you.
The real question, of course, is why are there so many Exchange functions that iCal can't touch. Grrrr....

  • Since upgraded phone to 2.0, cannot send out email

I recently upgraded my iphone to 2.0 (mistake!) and now cannot send out email from my iphone. I have tried deleting all my email accounts and re-setting it up on my iphone rather than syncing with my computer but it still will not send out email. I can send out email from my computer and used the same settings for both...

Also having mixed success sending mail on the iPhone, which is disappointing because I haven't had to send a lot of messages. Out of about 6 attempts, I've had two replies completely disappear. They weren't sent, they weren't in the outbox to send later. They just disappeared. One was while on my home network, the other was while I was traveling. I am very bothered that the emails aren't saved to try and send later.

  • My computer has been infected with a Trojan Horse.  It has completely taken over my Mac email account and was sending out malicious email to everyone in my address book.  At the same time it infected my iPhone---I am no longer able to receive or send emai

My computer has been infected by a Trojan Horse.  It has taken over my Mac email account and began sending out malicious emails to everyone in my address book.  I cleared out my MAC address book and began using my AOL email account. It took a few days and then my AOL email account was infected and has now been send out malicious email to all my contacts for over a month.  It has also infected my iPhone--I am no longer able to send or receive emails on my iPhone.  Also, once the Trojan Horse began using my AOL email it completely blocked me from using my MAC account by sending never ending popups asking for my email password to access my MAC email account, but it never accepts my pass word.  The TH has also slowed down everything on my computer.  It's like I am working on an old PC with dial up connection instead of the high speed digital connection that I have.  The little color wheel spins constantly as I wait for sometimes over a minute for a page to pull up.  If it pulls up at all.  I have tried to use the 2 disks that came with my computer to completely remove everything on my computer and then reinstall all the programs, but I am not allowed to sweep my computer clean.  I thought maybe my disks that came with my computer were defective so I called Apple and they sent me 2 new disks.  I am not able able to clear my computer with the 2 new disks either.  I have done this before successfully so it's not something new to me.  I do remember when I believe my computer became infected:  I had googled an unusual sewing term, and I was opening what appeared to be legitimate sites, when all of a sudden a pop up appeared that said that my computer had been infected.  I immediately shut my computer off, but it was too late.  I downloaded a virus program for Mac, and it has never found a virus or problem at all.  I think it is part of this Trojan Horse, but I am unable to delete it from my computer.  It refuses to uninstall.  The Mac Trojan Horse is real and it is terrible.  If anyone has any suggestions for me I would be very appreciative,
    Beth

lots of people seem to be havgin a problem sending email from iCloud webmail.
does your email address have uppercase characters in it?
if so, try creating an alias in lowercase (go to preferences in iCloud webmail and select 'accounts') and see if email sends okay from that
