Rearrange Playback buttons

I am looking to find a way to change the order of the
playback button so I can customize the look of the playback. Do
anyone know of a way to do that. i am able to change to the look of
the buttons but not the order.

What you want - specifically - cannot be done within
Captivate. obviously, you have found the
Project > Skin dialog at which you can select which
buttons you wish to display on the playback control. And you know
that in the same dialog, you can change the playback control style
and colors.
The one thing you cannot do is what you are asking to do. The
order of the buttons on the playbar cannot be changed without
altering the SWF for the playback control itself in Flash. That
does not mean it cannot be done, only that you will have to do it
as a Flash project, and to my knowledge, there is no playbar FLA*
(*Flash source file) included in Captivate.
EDIT:
I stand corrected about the lack of a FLA. See the posts above
for the location on your Windows system install. Sorry I missed
that earlier.
If you
are comfortable in the Flash environment, give it a shot,
and place your resulting SWF file in the \\Adobe Captivate 3\
Gallery\ PlaybackControls\ SWFbars\ folder to access it from within
Captivate. If you are
not comfortable in creating Flash objects, you will have to
pay someone who is, to create the playbar for you.
To get you started, I recommend you check out the work of
Paul Dewhurst, a Captivate Community Expert who does do some custom
work for others, and also generously makes some of his work
available free on his Captivate widgets web-site ... located

Playback buttons for flash movie

Hello, im having some difficulty adding a play, pause and
stop button to a movie I imported into flash.
The movie was imported using the import wizard in flash 8. I
did not add a skin because when I tried adding it , the skin would
not show through once I imported the finished swf file in
Trainersoft. ONly the movie would come through. So, then I decided
to add my own playback buttons to the movie. I imported the movie
again using the import wizard, i did not select a skin. The movie
was imported fine into flash. I added a play, pause and stop
buttons as new symbols each in their own layer. I added the correct
action scripting to the buttons, i preview movie and the buttons
appear correctly but nothing happens when I click each of the
buttons, the movie keeps playing without reacting to me clicking on
either the pause or stop button, or the play button.
Here is thte scripting im using.
For Play: on (release) {
myButton.onrelease = function() {

on (release) {

For Pause:

First, create your play button. Click on it, and open up the
Properties Panel (Shift + F3). Type in:
play_btn for the <Instance Name>.
Then, create a new Layer in your Flash file, called Actions.
Click on the first frame of the Actions layer, and open up the
Actions panel (F9).

I tried some suggestions that dealt with entering "about:config" in a fresh browser, but to no avail. I also downloaded an add-on called "Theme Font & Size Changer", but that didn't work either. So, I am reaching out here as that was a suggestion that another user here offered.

Ah, yes- that is an ultra high DPI (dots per inch) display. This is a known issue in Flash Player, which Adobe is working on fixing.
In the mean time, you can get some videos to have normal-sized controls by switching Youtube to the HTML5 video player:
In Firefox, go to https://www.youtube.com/html5 and click the "Request the HTML5 player" button.

Playback button not working

So the playback button is not working and the only time it starts working is after an update.
What is wrong with it and how can I fix it?

Welcome to our community, Angie
It probably has to do with exactly how the Captivate content
is being viewed. For example, the button may not work for you if
you are simply running the project from Preview mode in the
browser. But if you are running from a link that opens a new
window, it may close without issue.
The bottom line here is that you probably need to investigate
and compare exactly how you are opening or launching the Captivate.

Movie Playback Buttons

Hi. I am very unexperienced with this, so please bear with
me...I'm trying to create a button that can skip my flash intro
anytime I press it? I chose my button. It is in a "button" layer
and it is called "btn_forward". Can someone please give me a
command I can type in in order to work please? And where should I
put it? That would be really helpful!

Hi there
Sorry, but we need more than that to go on. For example, the slide appearing to be "stuck" may have an object on it that is pausing playback. Perhaps a Click Box or a Button. In this case, the Captivate project would be behaving perfectly normally.
Any chance of your sharing the file with us? Perhaps if you did that, we could look at it first hand and tell you what is happening.

Playback Buttons

Hi. I've been working on a Captivate. This Cap movie has been
embedded in a Web Based Training course--with an IE7 browser.
When I click the "go to the end" button (not the forward
button or the X button) on the playback bar, it offers to close the
tab/browser window. When I click yes, it does so. When I click no,
it does NOT go to the end of the captivate, like it is supposed to.
Is there a fix for this problem? If so, what is it?

It's not a "Go to end" button. It is a "Exit" button. The
reason it asks if you are sure you want to close the window is
because the browser is trying to alert you that you are closing the
ONLY open bowser window - if you are running your Captivate movies
in a "New" window (leaving the parent window open below it), you
will not see that notice, it will just close.

Unable to view Content pane or playback buttons from play.exe

After publishing Player files, I want to preview the Player output so I launched player.exe. It opens in Internet Explorer, and I can see and expand the modules and view the topic listing. However, I cannot see the Concept pages. All I get is a blank page. I also don't get the playback mode buttons, so I can't launch any topics. Double-clicking does not launch my default mode (Try It) either.
When I tried viewing the same file from another computer, I can see them just fine, so I am pretty sure it's just my computer.
Does anyone know what computer setting / internet explorer setting I need to change to be able to view the topics?
As a side note, I am able to view UPK topics that are deployed on our server just fine. It's only when I try to launch the play.exe file locally on my machine.
I'm using IE7.

Hi - I posted the initial question back in November when I had my old machine. I thought it was just my computer since all my colleagues are able to see it just fine.
Now I have a brand new computer - Windows 7 and IE 8, and I had high hopes that it was an isolated issue with my old laptop... but even with the new laptop, I am unable to see the Concept pane!
I have not made any changes to my Internet Explorer setting. A colleague of mine with the exact same computer (and same setting - since it's provided by the company) can see the concept pane just fine. Because I can't see the concept pane, I am unable to play the UPK Player topics my computer.
Does any body have any clue how to resolve this?
I've tried changing the Zoom one user recommended, that did not work.
I'm now on UPK 11.1 Client, Windows 7, IE8.
Any suggestion is appreciated!!

IPhone 5 issue with music playback- buttons not responding

When playing music on iPhone 5
- The play/skip button on my headphones does not work when pressed. If I want to pause a song, or tap twice to skip ahead, it does nothing. The volume buttons on the headphones work, but the center button does not. It DID work previously, but recently just stopped. I tried the same headphones on my iPod, and they work perfectly
- When the screen is locked, if I double tap the home button on the phone to bring up the playback controls, it does not play when I press Play, nor does it skip forward or back. None of the buttons respond.
It seems to be an iOS6 issue with the device not responding to the commands. Anyone know of a fix, or do we have to wait for a patch?

I found it!!! General, Passcode Lock, and make sure that under "Allow Access When Locked" catagory Reply with Message is ON

Have to hit source playback button twice, Why?

Is it just me? For months, in order to playback a source clip, I have to click the play button twice. The first click would only play one frame or so. This is something I have been tolerating for quite a while and never had time to investigate until now. Anyone else with this issue? Any solutions?

Trash your prefs. Fixes all kinds of strange behavior.
Use this handy application....just open it and click TRASH, then launch FCP again.

EXIT playback buttons do not work

Well I cna't figure it out!!!! I When my movies are played
(published full screen, .swf or HTML) on some PC's at work the X
(exit button) from the playback controls provided by captivate do
not work. This means the user can not exit other than alt+f4 or end
through task manager.
Thsi only happens on some of the PC's and not all,
unfortunately I have tested this on various types of builds and not
able to establish the roots.
Also another thing that also happens (or not, in this
case!!!!) is if I have set a button to continue after a pause, to
end the movie it dont end!!! again only way out is alt+f4 or task
manager route.
Can anyone help? My movies have been released on our network;
I would like to resolve the issue before users start
barking.....

I would imagine, off the cuff, that the playback bar's Exit
button uses
javascript. So if javascript is not enabled in the user's
browser, that
won't work. However, I can't imagine why the browser's X
button (top
right corner) wouldn't work... That would seem to be more a
PC
security/lock-down issue....or something...

How do I turn off cc? I'm not hearing-impaired and did not turn it on. Settings page shows it is not turned on, but when watching ABC, USA etc., its there and the buttons within each app to remove it do nothing.

Yes, the captions themselves. Last evening I pulled up an ABC program from the ABC app (not ABC.com), and captions were on. I went to settings page and again turned on then off the captioning option. When I went back to my program, captions were still on but the cc button actually brought up dialog to turn them off. Some possible difference between iPad interpretation of cc data and that of the app for the broadcaster? Was never able to get rid of it Sunday on a USA replay.

Hello Everyone and thanks fo ryour help in advance. I am completely new to Flash and am just trying to get some of the basics correct. I would like to create a Flash movie. At the heart of my question is how to create a preview type of display on a web page that has a "Click to Play" button or arrow that is commonly seen onmost types of website displaying videos. Also, there seems to be a lot written about other custom types of players. I'm not sure what the benefits are to this or the different features these afford instead of using a standard embedded object. Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Disable FLV Playback Buttons Temporarily

I have an FLV Component on stage, controlled by ActionScript.
I've got code to listen for a cuepoint, pause the movie, etc. But,
I want to disable the use of ALL component buttons until I
re-enable them. How? Can I just reassign the buttons to no actions?
I don't know what they're called, etc.

i work almost everyday with flv but never with FLV component.
So, im afraid im not gonna be a big help.
But, even if i think this component have a disable/enable
buttons method (if not, it should), if you find the name of those
buttons you can use the enabled property of movieClip.
ex: playBtn.enabled = true; or playBtn.enabled = false;
With this you dont have to reasign the action when
re-enabling the button and also if you disabled the button by
reassigning no action to it, your button will still be clickable.

Now, to have an idea of whats the name of those buttons you
can try a "for in" loop like this (not sure if its gonna work with
components):

My keyboard doesn't work from the login screen, but when I login as a guest user it works fine (minus the brightness buttons, playback buttons, etc.).

I've already switched out the batteries and the keyboard works fine, so I fear it might be some sort of bug? All the methods of restarting or resetting certain settings can only be done from the login screen or from within an account, when the keyboard doesn't work, and the guest options are limited to non existent.

Try doing a SMC reset, you may need to do this 2-3 times as sometimes the reset doesn't always "take" the first time. To do a SMC reset, shut down the computer, unplug the power cord from the wall and computer, wait 15-20 seconds and restart normally and test. If after 2-3 resets it still does not work test another keyboard. If that keyboard works then this indicates your keyboard has failed and needs to be replaced.
