Received a replacment 6th gen for a defective older version.  Battery on new version is dead after only four moths.  Was told I would have to purchase repair ($60) because 30 days had expired.  I think it may be time to say goodbye to Ipod.

This is pretty sad.  The battery is dead after four months (and this was a repacement product from a previously defective model).  I think it is ridiculous that beacuse I am over the 90 day period by a month that I should have to pay a service fee.  I understand the fee,but on a four-moth old product that is replacing an older version with the same problem?

That is a fit of bad luck right. You can still try to schedule an appointment at your local Apple Store's Genius Bar and explain to them what has happened.  They may be willing to swap it out for you again at no cost, but of course, they are under no obligation to do so.  The appointment is free except for your time.

    iPod Nano are small and they don't use Wi-Fi access so you get less power time on a Nano. As for iPhone, since you got apps, Wi-Fi + 3G access, and everything else, they give you more time so you can keep using. Nanos are ment to listen to music, listen to radio, view your photos, watch videos (without Wi-Fi) and since you got BlueTooth on the nano, it counts as wireless access so it drains your battery faster.

    iCloud will only sync devices on the same account. There is no way around having to purchase more storage, unfortunately for you.

    Do you still have the Pictures folder in your home folder? If not, create a new folder in your home folder and name it Pictures. Make sure the iPhoto Library folder is in the Pictures folder.
    Now launch iPhoto with the Option key depressed until you get a message screen. Choose to open another library and navigate to and highlight the iPhoto Library folder. Click the Open button.
    You didn't move anything around or rename anything in the iPhoto Library folder in the finder, did you?

    After more then a year it's time to say goodbye for me!
    When I got my Vista installed a long time ago I was aware that there will be some hardware components that will not work nice due to bad drivers. I gave my hardware companies more then a year time to get their stuff together and release working drivers. I came here to report problems and bugs in current drivers in the hope that CreativeLabs listens to me and other people here, but now after one year of waiting I am pretty sure that nothing will change here anymore
    I am one of the 0.0% (according to an CL guy) of people that are having a problem with their XFI Elite Pro Card (for that I payed more then 300Euros when it came out) and I was CL Soundblaster user since I can remember. I have very strange sound effects (crackling, noises, scratching) when I activate the SLI Mode for my Videocards and like many other users here I am missing very important features like Dolby, that were available when I had windows XP installed.
    Because Vista does a very good job on my system and other companies have released good drivers for all my hardware I see absolutly no reason to switch back to Windows XP, just because Creative Labs is not able to release drivers. In my opinion it's just a shame for Creative Labs what they do. It's no secret that CL really does build very nice hardware, but their software and specially drivers simply suxx very much! After spending several days and nights in the internet, trying to find a solution/workaround for my problems, I was pretty surprised how many BAD feedback Creative is getting regarding their drivers and software. Many many websites (Tuning, hardware reviews, support, gaming whatever) talk very bad about CL and their drivers and all of them say that something is going wrong at CL.
    A big company like CL can not act like this and they will get what they deserve in the future. Specially their mess with the XFI card and crackling. Many people with a lot of knowledge are pretty sure that the XFI Hardware simply is not as good as it should be. Creative has made a sticky in these forums where they told us that the Nforce 4 Chipset may cause those problems, however ... after spending an hour talking with Nvidia Support guys, I am pretty sure this is not Nvidias fault.
    Specially because I have the same problem now with my new Nforce 590 Board and people with Intel, Via or whatever Chipsets have similar problems. According to Creative Labs all those chipsets are bad, but I don't believe that. The XFI is bad, that's it! It's crap piece of hardware that was never tested enough and because the guys that code the driver and software for those hardware completly fail in doing their job ... it makes no sense for me anymore
    Now like said: Everything works fine in my system except my XFI Card. Because I see that it does not help to wait for drivers anymore, I decided today to get another XFI Card from another company. Which works absoluty nice for me without any annoying problems, sound-effects and crackling.
    Since more then a year I did not had sound like this and now I can finally play all my games again with enabled SLI Mode. This is what I expected from my XFI a long time ago. I am not that hardcore freak and don't need all the nice features and extras that my XFI offers. All I wanted is to play games with nice surround sound, without any bluescreens and sometimes listen music or watching videos on my PC. The XFI was not able to do this for me without any trouble. This are basic features that every onboard soundcard can offer, but not my XFI due to very bad designed drivers and software that was coded by guys that should find another job !!!
    Every company got flamed at the beginning. ATI, NVIDIA, AMD, Intel and many many others got flamed because after release of Vista not everything was working. But all of them got that point that users are very angry and spend a lot of time, energy and money into driver/software part. The one and only company that fails here is in my opionion just Creative. I don't see any other companies right now that get flamed so much for their very bad Vista Support.
    Now I am done with this crap. My life is too short to waste my time here every few days to see if anything got fixed by CL. So I do that what many people are doing right now ... leaving you and use a soundcard from another company!
    For sure I will tell all my friends how bad CL is and that they should never buy a CL product anymore, but most of my friends already know about these problems and bad products from CL so even if I give them money and a XFI for free, they don't want it! This is all what I can do as a customer. Sure, Creative is a big company and it's not the end for them if a guy that used CL products for 5 years leaves them, but I hope many of you will follow and let creative know that you don't like what they are doing right now.
    So it's time to say Goodbye! I wish you the best and hopefully you will get stable drivers and software one day. You paid a lot of money for your stuff and its simply the job of CL to make sure your stuff works fine! If they fail in this, you should not use their products anymore to show them that you don't like that!
    Last but not least: There are many great people here which do their best by releasing custom drivers or modified software, or trying to help other people that have problems. Those people finally get a big THANK YOU from me! It's nice to have guys like you here, without you we simply would be lost totally because we can not expect anything from Creative anymore!
    I could write 000 more pages about what I think about Creative and their products, but I think everything was already said 000 times in these forums and on other websites. To make it short: Creative Products suxx! Nice hardware, horrible software/drivers! But who cares

    Oh creative ... because I am pretty sure you will delete this posting ... do me a favor and delete my account here to. Like already said: I don't use your crappy products anymore and I am using a soundcard now that works fine! So instead wasting my time with complaining here and checking out new drivers (just to find out the release notes just look like this: - added BlueScreens for several Mutliplayer Games), I simply can start playing my games and don't have to waste my time here anymore! Something is really wrong there in your company, sad that you don't realize it. Some people there definitily need a new job!!! And if you don't realize that, ALL of you need a new job because no one will buy your products anymore in a few years! The XFI was your Flagship! If you don't support it, no one can help you anymore!

    Hello to all, i registered just minutes ago and i will not say goodbye.My first soundcard was the original Adlib-Soundcard, it only could do music, and i bought the Soundblaster .0 as early as one could do?(and the Stereo-Chips later).With one exception i had only Creative soundcards since then and i remeber my SB6 was one crackling bitch of hell and i was falling back to the SB Pro.Later i used the Digital 4. and the Li've 5. then Soundstorm2 on my Asus A7N8X-Deluxe and?the days?X-Fi?arri'ved at the shops?i was setting up a new system and got me the X-Fi Xtreme Music. I had really little problems with it (never used an Nforce after NF2) and was a satisfied customer.(i choosed the Xtreme Music?in the know that the advanced functions as X-Ram etc. will not find broad use or will not bring big performance).Eventually i decided to go risky and try to use Vista 64 Ultimate and for some Weeks only OnBoardsound worked for me and this is really bad sound compared to the X-Fi, so?i am happy i have my X-Fi working with the latest drivers. Thx Creative!?But i am only using 2. Sound or Stereo-Headphones, so i dont miss 5. or 7. Sound. I switched my Micro to a USB-Micro (from Logitech) as only this is working right so as i want. I had to disable CnQ on my machine as i?got frequently BSOD after installing my Soundcard, without CnQ i do not have any BSOD. One thing i can not blame to Creative, i had the Asus M2R32 and this Board seem not to work with X-Fi as i got the SOD around every 20 mins, but my PhysX was not working too, so i think the Asus-Board is crap!?I will say, there is good and bad about Creative and the X-Fi and the drivers, but it is the best Sound i can have and so far working good enough to not displease me, no crackling, popping, BSOD, only good Sound!Creative has some troubles (mainly from their own fault) and i hope they will find a solution for all the problems to stay in business another successfull decade.     You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed, filling out and submitting this form.
    They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

    As long as the report ends up with 'Permissions repair complete' then, as far as permissions go, you are fine. You can ignore the various statements in the report:

    Call the apple store you got it from and ask them. Sometimes in the past they've extended the 'no questions asked return' but only Apple can tell you for sure.

  • How long does it take for the auto updater to install a new version?

    I've just seen that Flash v11.4.402.287 is available.  How long should I wait for the auto updater to update my system (currently v11.4.402.278)?
    In the past I have waited 2-3 days and the new version still hasn't been installed, even though the Task Scheduler shows that the auto updater is running.  I've then given up and manually installed the new version as I think that this is too long to wait.

    The good news - the auto update has worked this time and I now have v11.4.402.287.
    The not so good news - I've had a look through both flashinstall.log files and there is nothing strange there.  I can see the times when the auto updater has done the update, and also the last 2 times when I've done the update manually.  There aren't any other entries - i.e. the only entries are for successful installations.
    As the update has worked for me this time I think that this can be closed.
