i bought my macbook pro second hand and am looking for help as to change the main user of the mac so it feels like itsnow mine , the login has been changed to my name but the full user is in the name of the previous owner , someone please help?
I don't really care about all the lost files I'm just desperate to change this folder in users to my name so it's not someone else's , currently I'm in advanced options on users and groups , it says in this order, userID:501 , group:staff , account name:Bryce bell [which I changed and didn't change the folder] , login shell:/bin/bash , home directory:Brycebell [again I changed] , uuid:[some sort of code] and finally aliases:which is my email address

Did the message say what was corrupt. It is not clear from your description of "...it was corrupt" what "it" is. Sounds like the download of Lion was corrupt. Download it again. Downloaded files sometimes get corrupted due to network connection glitches or interruptions.

Hello everybody! My question is; my parents and I have a great number of video tapes (Hi8 and mini DV) and since I purchased a MacBook Pro (ME665LL/A) I would like to burn them onto CDs, but I do not know how to transfer those footage into Mac. What would you recommend(it can be a software, a hardware or combination of both)? By the way, I also purchased an external DVD-RW(Asus SDRW-08D2S) separately.
Just Google "convert hi8 to dvd" and you'll find a number of software/hardware combinations that will allow you to do what you want. One important piece of the puzzle is whether or not you still have access to the video recorder(s) that the movies were shot on.

Start up from your install disc, go to Disk Utility and select the disk and click erase - to securely erase data click Security Options and Erase Free Space which will entirely wipe your disk, overwriting it with zeros so that no data is recoverable. -

Many apps are not completely removed if the .app file is trashed (which is what I believe you've done so far).
If you don't want to dig through the system to manually remove library files, I recommend the use of AppCleaner, which does the job for you. -

After you go to system preferences/keyboard/input sources as suggested by sberman, click on the + button and scroll down to Portuguese and select that. Over at the right you will see the choices Brazilian, Brazilian abnt, Portuguese. You might want to add all three to see which you like best.
The "Brazilian" layout is pretty useless. It is identical to the US layout and the only way to make accents is via the option key shortcuts: option + n, then o gives you õ.
The Brazilian abnt and Portuguese layouts have dead keys for adding accents over at the right edge of the keyboard. But these may not match what is printed on your keys.
You may prefer to stay with the US layout. On that you can get accented letters by just holding down the base letter and selecting what you want from the popup menu that appears. Or you can use the option key shortcuts.
Another option is the layout called US International PC, which has accent deadkeys on ~, ', etc.
Which ever layout you want to use, you must select it in the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen.

Log in on iCloud.com and go to Mail. In Mail, at the bottom left you should see a gear icon. Click on it, go to Settings (or Preferences, I'm doing this from memory), and in there you'll find an option to forward your iCloud email to another service.

Assuming you are in an area where repeat downloads are allowed, and the content is still in the store... authorize the computer to your account, sign into the store, then go to iTunes Store > Quicklinks > Purchased > Movies > Not on this computer > Download all.

You can also re-download most previous purchases (not just songs) from the iTunes Store from the Purchased screen. So, you should be able to get the "one missing purchase" back too. Sign in to iTunes using the Apple ID used to make the purchases. Go to the iTunes Store. (With the new iTunes 12, select the Music category first, then go to the iTunes Store.) Click on Purchased (along right side under QUICK LINKS). From the Purchased screen, you can find and download previous song purchases, at no cost.
You can also re-download purchases from other iTunes categories, such as Movies and TV Shows.
