I say this because users complain performance problem with forms. The backup method has no impact on the system performance.

    Dear Malmstrom ,
    Hope U R fine,
I am New to Oracle AS. We r deploying an application created in Oracle forms and reports 10g using Oracle database 10gR2 and FRServices 10g.
We r facing a no. of problems
1). A very frequently accessed form generates FRM-92102 while accessing using web.
while other forms seems to be ok.
2). We r facing Some times Reports generated using Oracle forms does not display page or hangs.
What we accessed is that We have just Installed Oracle FRServices and did not configured it.
Both oracle Database and FRServices are on one machine using windows 2000 Adv. Server which is an IBM dual processor machine with 2G RAM and 2G Virtual Space.
We r also going to shift Oracle database on RHEL 4.0 with Database 10gR2 using the same machine while we have planned to install FRServices on a seperate machine that is P4 2.8 with 1G RAM + 2G Virtual Memory.
Our requirement is that Maximum of 200 users with 40 concurrent sessions.
PLS suggest us the recommended settings for Oracle FRServices.

  • Setting of init.ora file for 500 users

how to set diffrents parameters in init.ora file
    for 500 user
    (hybrid system)(oltp+dss)
    thanks

Yeah, it depends and you will need to adjust thoses parameters during the "life" of the database.
I give you some of my thoughts (that's just thoughts, not a rule => there is no perfect rule) :
    500 users = Unix box i guess so :
If MTS (dont think u need MTS for 500 users) => SGA = 75% of the RAM of the server
If NOT MTS (dedicated processes) => SGA = 50% of the RAM
Say 2GB of RAM on no MTS :
    buffer cache = 900 MB
    shared pool = 100MB to 200 MB
    sort_area_size = 256KB
something like 50 to 100 RBS (depends on how many users are connected simultaneously)
for the users which will not do some OLTP operations, you should make few BIG RBS and assign their transactions to them. for thoses users, you probably need a bigger sort_area_size.
    all the tablespaces LOCALLY MANAGED
    backup with RMAN

  • Any Recommended Purging policy for files in Archive folder?

    Hi All,
Is there any recommended purge policy for files stored under Archive folder after import from ready folder. We need to delete files that are piling up the Archive, but wondering is there any recommendations.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Yes it is possible to delete the files under Archive folder. Just follow the below steps:
    1. Create a text file which contain the below lines:
    cd {MDM Installation Path}\Server\......\Archive
    del star . star /q
Note: Instead of writing "star" use star symol
    E.g. C:\Program Files\SAP MDM 5.5 Server\Distributions\Test-MDM_MSQL\Test-Repo\Inbound\Remote_sys\Inbound_port\Archive
    2. Save the file with .bat extension.
    3. You can schedule this file using Windows Schedular. For this go to Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Scheduled Tasks and create a new one by double clicking on it. Select the bat file created and accordindly schedule it like daily, weekly etc.
    4. Now whenever the task is due it automatically executes the commands written in bat file and deletes all the files from Archives folder :).
Its working fine at my end...
Kindly Reward points and update the thread status

  • Different Password Policy for Different User Groups in ACS 4.2

    Hi All,
Can some one provide a solution for the below requirement?
We do have ACS 4.2 appliance managing firewalls of different clients. The users are common i.e, helpdesk administrators. One of the client came up with setting different password policy for managing their devices i.e, the client wants to have min 15 characters as password length. We do have currently 8 characters as min password length. Can we change the password policy to min 15 characters only for managing the firewalls of this client whereas for all other client firewalls we feel better to have 8 characters as min password length?
It seems that these password policies are global & affects all the users.
This is something like, having two sets of password (for each user) policy depending on the client which he is going to manage.
For my knowledge, i think that this is not possible. But, thought to cross-check with experts!
    -Jags.

    Hi jags,
Yor're correct. Password policy on ACS will affect all internal user. We can't create different password policies for diferent clients/connections/set_of_users
Password validation options apply only to user passwords that are stored in the ACS internal database. They do not apply to passwords in user records in external user databases; nor do they apply to enable or admin passwords for Cisco IOS network devices.

  • How to apply Software Restriction policy for specific user in local group policy object ?

I am working on implementing user based software restriction policy programmatically for local group policy object.
If i create a policy through Domain Controller,i do have option for software restriction policy in user configuration but in local group policy editor i don't have option for that.
When i look for the changes made by policy applied from Domain Controller in registry, they modifies registry values for specific users on path HKEY_USERS\(SID of User)\Softwares\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Safer\Codeidentifiers
They also have registry.pol stored in SYSvol folder in Domain Controller. When i make the same changes in registry to block any other application, application is getting blocked.
I achieved what i wanted but is it right to modify registry values ?
PS:- I am using Igrouppolicyobject API

I achieved what I wanted but is it right to modify registry values ?
You also can modify a registry programmatically based policy. Check this:

  • Need help in setting up Group Policy for same user in local system and Terminal server

    Hi All,
Currently our remote users are using our network using VPN client over internet.
They are generally at their home computer and doing VPN as they have to work only in one RDP server for application.
We actually have a OU created for these RDP users and assign then some strict policy like they can not use any other .exe, they can not user any explorer ,they can not even use windows explorer when they are on RDP they just use one exe of their application.
Now what my management want is they want their home computers in Domain and want them to login via their same credentials they are using for RDP but they don't want them to restrict in their home computers with any strict policy.
Now my confusion is how can I configure different policies for same users or same OU.
Can any one guide me please...

you can achieve this fairly easily with group policy.
create an OU and put your remote desktop servers in that OU.
configure both user and computer policies in a group policy and link it to that ou.
you need to enable loopback mode - you may want it in merge or replace depending on your other policies you have. Probably replace though I would guess. this is set in the computer configuration > admin templates > system / group policy section.
now remove the policy you have currently setup for your users on the users OU containing the rdp users. If you want you can move these users back to your main users OU.
when your users login to the RDP server the settings in the user section of the GPO linked to the RDP Servers OU will apply.
when the user logs in to their own computer the policies from the user OU and computer OU will apply - but not the more restrictive RDP OU.
    hope that makes sense.

  • PF attribute modification in Access Policy for existing users.

    Hi Guys,
I have an access policy for provisioning a resource. Suppose if I make some changes for the process form attribute value inside the access policy,How can I have the same attribute value reflected in the process form of users who are already provisioned by the access policy?
Direct database update wont be a good idea here as I am having multiple access policies for the same resource. Is there any table which is having the relation between provisioned resource and curresponding access policy if at all I have to go for a custom scheduled task?
    Thanks,

Does this solution also supposed to work in OIM 11g? I Tried it but data on the main form does not get reflected on the process form of existing users. For child data it does work.

  • Authorization Policy for Modify user in OIM 11gR2

    Hi Experts,
Requirement: I want the users in particular org not to modify certain user attributes and users from other org should be allowed to modify user.
I have created user1 whose organization is org1 and role is role1. I have also created user user2 under same org and same role. I assigned the Admin Role "User Administrator" role to user2.
So If user2 from same org1 tries to modify certain attributes then OIM should throw error message. I have completed till this.
But when the user from diff org say org2 with Admin Role "User Administrator" tries to modify user, OIM is not allowing to modify user which should not be the case.
I want the Auth Policy to trigger only for Org1. I have specified the below condition for my custom policy in OES admin console but it is not triggering.
    The condition is
    IF ( OrclOIMTargetEntity = 'true' AND OrclOIMUserOrganizations = 'true' AND STRING_AT_LEAST_ONE_MEMBER_OF(OrclOIMUserOrganizations,['25','1000000']) = true )
    What am I missing?
    Any help is much appreciated.

    Hi
Can anyone let me know the steps to restrict modify user operation for the users belonging to specific organization in OIM 11gR2. The condition which I specified under Authorization Policy in APM console is not triggering at all.
    Thanks!

  • Access Policy for Existing Users

    Hi,
    Here is the Scenario:
    1. We have AD resource object having "Allow Multiple" Unchecked
    2. We have Users who are already provisioned to AD
We are trying to introduce Auto Provisioning into our system for AD, I know new users will be evaluated against Access policies and will be provisioned to the resource and hence groups management will be taken care automatically, Questions:
    1. If I disable resources (and not revoke) for these new users what will be the group membership status -will they be removed from group?
    2. How to pull existing users under this auto prov umbrella? My thoughts: by writing a custom scheduler that will check resource provisioned and make it as part of the group, but will resource be revoked automatically if group is removed for these users? If not what should be the approach for existing users?
    Thanks in advance

I've completed a similar tasks using SQL.Take a look at the following table and you can do these tasks:
UPP, UPD, USG, POG and AD group table 'UD_ADUSRC'

  • Recommend Backup Software for OS 10.3?

I need to get some backup software so I can backup only new files and files that have been changed. Can someone recommend a good utility for doing this on OS 10.3?
    Thank you!

If you get the downloads through another computer online,
be sure they are the correct stand-alone items; then you
can choose to never go online with the 10.3.x computer.
I have and use a USB thumb drive or flash drive to get
extra files between computers so they don't need to go
and do the same duty in duplicate online; this would also
work to get the actual files you needed via another Mac.
Be sure they are the correct ones, first, of course.
There are no currently supported browsers, for the most
part, for Panther 10.3.9; so secure online browsing is a
thing that may be problematic or issue-prone; yet the
internal server to Support updates, and the Software Update
app can probably be used to get info or the files you'd want.
And you need not install all of the found updates; yet by
now, those in-between and questionable ones would be
fewer than they were in the day they were new. I had a
few issues in Panther (and avoided some, then) in the
updates in-between. So, by now, there should be none.
In one sense, the Software Update app may be helpful
in finding the correct names of the files, then get the
few you actually may need, more manually from Support.
The 10.3.9 Combo, and the last security update, plus any
Java update(s) are likely to include actual useful offline
update materials. A few Panther/Tiger users had an odd
issue with going/staying online after one of the small step
updates to 10.3 at one point, and it was problematic. A
last Combo plus security update may avoid the issue.
This may be a mute issue at this late a date; but may be
worth checking into further, as far as it goes. And most
items made for Panther 10.3 generally were updated as
far as the last full stop 10.3.9; a few required that level.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • DESIGN-WLAN for 500 users

I have a client who want to implement a LAN in a new corporate site, and he want to implement all the LAN in a WLAN. The office is a three floor building where the company assign near 200 users per floor. Each user employ windows xp system with office, sql DB, file system, etc.
I search in the Cisco web page but I did not find example of a similar implementation. It is factible to implement? Has the WLAN a similar performance that a wired LAN?

You can build a wireless network like this, but you need to be aware that wireless has significant bandwidth limitations.
It is easy to build a wired network where each user will have guaranteed 10 Mbps connections to the server resources. This is especially true for a site with only a few hundred users per floor.
A wireless network, on the other hand, involves a great deal of planning in order to make sure there is sufficient wireless coverage and bandwidth. Users connected to a wireless access point share the bandwidth available to that access point--must like in the days of 10BaseT hubs or 10Base2 Ethernet. On an 802.11a/g network, the best shared throughput you should expect is 22 Mbps.
Here's my advice if you really want to build a network like this:
Unified Wireless is a must. You cannot be bothered to constantly tweak the settings on the 30 access points you'll probably end up installing.
5Ghz! You want to have a dense deployment of access points. That way you will have fewer people on one access point, and should an access point fail other neighboring access points can pick up the users who otherwise would be left without a signal. Do not play with 802.11g on the 2.4Ghz spectrum. 802.11a on the 5Ghz spectrum will give you 8 indoor channels and allow for a dense access point deployment. Try to keep your users per access point under 12.
Consider the AIR1252AG access point with support for 802.11n-draft 2.0.
If the client is considering doing this wireless implimentation to save money: get out now. They are going to try and build a bargain basement wireless network and it will not work. Users will be unhappy. You will spend weeks trying to troubleshoot dead spots and noise spots. A properly implimented wireless network is just about as expensive as a wired network. On top of that, it will be slower and more prone to failure. The only real advantage of wireless networks is mobility. Users can move around, office cubicles can be rearranged, and costs are saved in the long term.

  • How can I set OIM password policy for OID Users.

    Hi,
For me the target resourec is OID. When I create users in OIM, they get provisioned to OID. Their password also gets stored in OID.
Now, I have a password policy in OIM. In that policy, the password exipration day is set to 28 days. After 28 days, the user's password will expire in OIM. Is there any way that password will also expire in OID too, so that user will not be able to login in OID?
    Thanks in advance.

You need to do the following.
    1. Find the attribute in OID that determines the disable date.
    2. Add a field to your provisioning process definition form.
    3. Using a pre-populate adapter, use an input of your oim user account expiration date, and convert that to the format OID uses.
    4. Update your lookup for provisioning attributes to include this new field to map the field name to the OID attribute.
    5. Create an "Updated" task for this field so that when it gets changed, the new value is pushed to OID.
    6. Create a user form trigger value for the field that maps to the oim user account expiration field. For this trigger, add a task to your oid provisioning process that does the same tasks as your pre-populate adapter to determine the new date value and pass it to the field on the process form.
Now when the OIM expiration date changes, this value will be passed to OID, and also when the account is first created.
    Does this work for you?
