Recording measured voltage and current values from LCR 4284A
Hello,
I want to use the labview VI to record the measured voltage and current values from LCR 4284A. These are shown as Vm and Im on the instrument screen. Is it possible to record these values using a VI?
I have looked through the drivers that are available through the "Instrument driver network" (Link) for 4284A but none of the VIs give any option to monitor Vm and Im. If you know how this can be done then I would really appreciate a reply.
Thanks
Mansoor
I haven't used the instrument but there are functions to enable/read voltage level and current level monitors. Are those different than what you are asking for? What does the manual say about Vm and Im and programatically getting them? If you can find the command in the manual, you can just open the VI Tree and do a text search for the command.

I want to know hardware to collect voltage and current from battery and read it through labview
Hi all ,
As per requirement of my job I want to measure voltage and current of battery connected to motor. I want to read those voltage and current through Labview. I want to know what hardware I need to acquire that voltage and current and feed it to computer and read through Labview.
I also want to know, whether I need to program according to hardware I use or Whatever I will program will read data coming from hardfwarwe?
Please give suggestions over it .
Thanks
c59409c54909,
It depends on what equipment you have available and what is your budget. You could for example use a storage oscilloscope with a current probe to accomplish this task. This will give you very good timing waveforms if your charging sequences are short.
If you are looking to automate I would recommend using any GPIB controllable power supply by Agilent or HP such as a (Agilent E3634A) and a USB-HS from National Instruments.
Keep in mind depending on how accurate you want your data you may need a GPIB current meter to read low currents in the uA. If you only need mA resolution you can usually use the same power supply you are making the voltage reading from. You want to make sure you pay attention to things like current limits on your supply and Over Current Protection settings (OCP) as they can make testing interesting.

"I am doing a data acquisition project using a 16 channel N.I. series 6020E card where I want to capture respective current and voltage sinusoidal signals. I am planning on capturing four pairs of matching current and voltage signals. I planned on taking one reading across the channels every fifteen minutes. This reading will need to be 60 data points per period or 3600 readings per second per channel in order for me to recreate the sine signal to determine the phase angle difference between the voltage and current. I was able to get one channel to capture a signal but could not get more than one working at a time. I am also trying to sycronize the data collection so all samples are with respect to each other. Thanks for any help."

"Hi Cappy,
Could you post this question to the Hardware > Counter/Timer or Hardware > Multifunction I/O forums? I think you will get more responses there. Here is a link.
The hardware is usually a better differentiation since software can support such a huge range of functionality.
The data rates you are talking about sound reasonable. Are you using the USB or the AT interface?
One other thing to be aware of is that the samples taken will not be simultaneous due to the multiplexed nature of the MIO board measurements. However if you know the channel clock rate(output from one of the VI's), then you can calculate the time difference between each measurement and correct your phase measurements by that amount.
If you have more questions, please post this to the other forum and copy all of our discussion to let everyone know what we have talked about already.

I am using the USB connection. If anyone can help with or has a similar VI for this, it owuld be appreciated so I can work on the larger aspect of the total project. The easiest VI to use for this acquisition is AI Acquire Waveforms in the data acquisition palette in LabVIEW. This VI allows you to perform a finite acquisition from multiple channels on your DAQ board. As John mentioned the acquisition from individual channels will not be truly simultaneous. There will be a slight time shift from one channel to the next on the order of the maximum acquisition speed of the card, 100kHz or 10 microseconds in your case. By accounting for this 10 microsecond delay between consecutive channels you can properly calculate the phase shift between voltage and current.

SCB 68 maximun voltage and current
Dear all,
can some 1 tell me whats the maximum voltage and current that my scb 68 for m-series is about the sense?i search the manual but i couldnt find.
cheers
ShawnHi!
I know you're a little confused
SCB doesn't have (perhaps I suppose...) electronic components, electronics is on the DAQ board! So you have to check for specifications of the board!
A s I told you, from SCB specs you find that it can handle 250 Volt inputs, but your board, the board connected to the other end, on its analog inputs, supports from -11 Volt to + 11 Volt, referred to ground. This means that if you connect a 200 Volt signal to your board (through SCB, of course), you will likely damage the board, even if SCB will not be damaged. Is this clear?
Carefully read specifications, there you can find many infos! Don't read just datasheets, search for device specifications, and user manuals.
Anyway, in general, in a system, you should take the most stringent value as maximum rating, so consider this for further analysis.
I've tryed to make it clear, i hope it is...
have a nice day, now I'm going out for lunch (in Italy it's 12 o'clock)!

BK 9123A Voltage and current set problem
Hi,
I'm trying to use BK Precision 9123A power supply with Labview. I'm receiving error in the set operation of voltage and current. The error is attached. I've also tried other versions of the driver(2010,2009,8.2.1,7.1) but the error is the same.
The other operation, except for the voltage and current set, comes with the driver work good.
Thanks,

Calculate symmetrical components of voltage and current
Hi, all. i am working on the calculation of symmetrical components of voltage and current in Labview. I have attached the relationship between symmetrical component and sequence voltage as picture 1. I will use this calculation for several times, so I wonder if anyone have some better ideas bc so far I just wired so many things together to realize the expression. It looks aweful. Any suggestion? such as built-in function to realize this function? thanks

For example here's how you would create the A matrix from a given alpha.
Similarly, you can create the A^(-1) matrix (your definition of A and A^(-1) seem inconsistent, else you could just take the matrix inverse of A). After that, you can multiply with you V123 vector using AxB.

From two given tables, how do you fetch the values from two columns using values from one column(get values from col.A if col.A is not null and get values from col.B if col.A is null)?
Hi,
Use NVL or COALESCE:
NVL (col_a, col_b)
Returns col_a if col_a is not NULL; otherwise, it returns col_b.
Col_a and col_b must have similar (if not identical) datatypes; for example, if col_a is a DATE, then col_b can be another DATE or it can be a TIMESTAMP, but it can't be a VARCHAR2.
For more about NVL and COALESCE, see the SQL Language manual: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e26088/functions119.htm#sthref1310
I hope this answers your question.
If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all tables involved, and also post the results you want from that data.
Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
Always say which version of Oracle you're using (e.g., 11.2.0.2.0).

You should use the VI DAQmx Timing (Sample Clock), samples per chanel and sample mode is necessary.

9219 current sample conversion to current value from DMA FIFO
Hello All,
I am sampling two 9219 modules (24-bit universal module) into a I32 FIFO on the FPGA target (9072). I want to convert this sample into a current value for scaling in my host vi. The module reads a +/- 25 mA input 24-bit into a 32-bit memory location. I was originally performing the conversion on the host like so,
1. INPUT converted to I32, then to DBL
2. (INPUT* 25)/ ((2^24)/2 - 1)=CURRENT (mA)
3. CURRENT (mA) * SCALE = VALUE
My values seem very high. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Solved!
Go to Solution.Hello Gaussy,
Thank you for contacting National
Instruments! There were a few questions that I had for you in order to
continue troubleshooting this issue. My first question is what version
of LabVIEW are you using? If you are using LabVIEW 8.5 then do you
mean U32 instead of I32? If you are using LabVIEW 8.6 have you thought
about trying to use Fixed-Point so you do not have to worry about the
conversion? Here is a knowledgebase article that talks a little bit more about this topic.
After
looking through your conversion algorithm I did not see any specific
flaws. I was wondering if you could post the values that you are
receiving from the FPGA Target and then the values after your
conversion. Also, it would be good to know what values you are
expecting and why. This will help us determine if the actual signal
from the module is off or if the conversion is incorrect. I hope this
helps! Have a great day!
Thanks!

Process to add new field to Account screen and update value from R/3...
We have CRM 7 and just wanted to ask what the process would be to add a new field to the Accounts screen. This field will be a read-only field and we'll source its value from R/3, based on some of the other data entered into the Accounts screen.
What exactly is involved in this process?.
I think I can use the new Application Enhancement Tool instead of EEWB to create the new field, but how does one identify which structure/table to change for say the 'Accounts' data, and, where does one place the code which populates this field, and, once the structure has been changed how do I physically add the field to the screen. I should be okay with reaching out to R/3 and populating the data, code-wise, but again wondered if there was anything inbuilt to do this, bearing in mind the closeness and constant access to R/3 from CRM.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Jason
Edited by: Jason Stratham on Apr 14, 2010 1:11 PMJason,
If you use EEWB or AET,, there is nothing manual you have to do, the fields will be added to all related tables and structures plus UI too.
May be sometimes you have to run the UI configration tool to add the field to the UI, again this is just a tool, there is not manual coding required.
you can enter the value for the fields direclty via UI, BUT if it is a display only field, at the time of save, you have to write couple of line to populate this field ( see set_property( ) method in the context node ).
Thats it...

How to have an Oracle procedure send and receive value from a java program.
The below procedure is place inside a package. This procedure "get_extract_ready_headers " is selecting columns store_number, terminal_number, tran_number, tran_date, cust_id from the source REX_HEAD_EXTRACT table. This information is selected into a ref cursor. The data has cust_id field which is encrypted. How do I modify the procedure get_extract_ready_headers and accomplish 2 things?
1. Make this procedure to read the "cust_id" value from the source table and send the value to a Java program "getheaderinfo" (this java program decrypts the cust_id field).
2. When we get the unencrypted value back from the Java program, make the procedure accept this decrypted value and use it to update CUST_ID value in the target table TRAN_HEAD table. I am using Oracle 11.2.0.2, and TOAD 10.5.1.3.

INSERT INTO table_b( cust_id, <<other columns>> )
SELECT SomeJavaPgm( a.cust_id ), <<other columns>>
FROM table_a aIf SomeJavePgm is not a Java stored procedure, calling it from PL/SQL becomes much more complicated. You would need whatever machine hosts this program to expose an appropriate API (for example, a web service interface) that you could invoke via UTL_HTTP). You'd need to tell us what that API was, however.
