Recording User Input

Im trying to make a program that will record user's sequence of input (keystrokes, mouse clicks) and then replay it using a Robot class.
I know how to make a program to record user input on an applet or a java window, but I have no clue how to use listeners in other situatuions.
So my question is: How do you listen for user's input outside of java applet or program?
Usually you use listeners, but they have to be connected to an object...

Seems like the Robot class is made for this. It is made for automating user actions. However, first, you need to record the sequence of those actions in order to replay them...

  • Help needed, Createing Dynamic User input

    Hello,
    I am attempting to create some dynamic user input by "predicting" what the user requires in a text box.
    For example if the user enters "Smi" I have a select list pop up which gives the user all options that begin with "Smi".
    I am able to achieve the popups but the interface is quite jerky and not terribly responsive I am trying to solve this by using a thread which starts and stops when new input is received but it is still not quite right.
    The program uses a Sorted TreeSet to hold the data (I thought this would give me a quick search time) and a simple interface at this stage.
    Any help would be fantastic
    Thanks in advance :P

    Register at: https://www3.gotomeeting.com/register/157658438
    Enabling PDFs for various types of user input can strengthen the interaction between users and the content, and improve satisfaction due to greater user involvement/control. In addition, designated avenues for user input can contribute to documentation quality and provide outlet for frustration, for example by sending inputs regarding the documentation or the product directly from within the PDF.
    Techniques demonstrated in this webinar include features that are all embedded in PDFs that are viewed with the free Adobe Reader:
    • text fields where users can record data values and options
    • checkboxes to track progress
    • page marks and notes (optionally e-mailed)
    • embedded grading/feedback forms
    • storing of useful search queries within the PDF for future use

  • Capturing and displaying user input in Crystal Reports

    Hi all,
    Iu2019m creating a crystal report with SAP as data-source and want to capture user input and display it on the report.  I have defined parameters to capture the input and added them to the report header.   I have then created formula fields to capture user input using the JOIN statement to accommodate multiple values.   Everything works well when users enter values for all the parameters, but when they leave some blank I get an error message u201CParameter value is nullu201D.
    Has anyone encountered this type of problem;  Anyone knows how to resolve this?

    Hi
    In parameter window make the Optional prompt to True.  And change make change in your record selection formula like this :
    (not HasValue({?PrjMgr@SELECT Firstname,lastname FROM OHEM}) OR
    ISNULL({?PrjMgr@SELECT Firstname,lastname FROM OHEM}) OR
    ({?PrjMgr@SELECT Firstname,lastname FROM OHEM} = '') OR
    {OHEM.firstName} = {?PrjMgr@SELECT Firstname,lastname FROM OHEM})

  • How to create an user input variable for customer exit variable? - BW3.5

    Hi Guru,
    I have a requirement for the selection period of my reports. There are 3 possible reporting periods which should be user selectable:
    1. Month: Current reporting month
    2. Fiscal Year to Date
    3. Project Year to Date
    Here I need 2 variable to do these, 1 customer exit and 1 user input variable. I have created a variable customer exit to calculate all these requirement. But can any1 tell on how to create the user input variable for my customer exit? I need a user input variable with drop down list like below.
    01-Current month
    02- Fiscal Year to Date
    03-Project Year to Date
    I have create a new master data for this variable, but it's not working. What I need now is a standalone master data which do not need to link to any exiting records. Can any1 tell me how to create this?

    Just go to the definition of the variable for which you have created a customer exit. There you will find a check box for "Ready for Input". Just tick that checkbox and the variable will be available as a selection variable in the reports selection screen.

  • Duplicate records in input structure of model node

    Hi,
    Following is the way, I am assigning data to a model node:
    //Clearing the model input node
    for (int i = wdContext.nodeInsppointdata().size(); i > 0; i--)
         wdContext.nodeInsppointdata().removeElement(wdContext.nodeInsppointdata().getElementAt(i - 1));
    //Creating element of the input model node
    IPrivateResultsView.IInsppointdataElement eleInspPointData;
    //START A
    Bapi2045L4 objBapi2045L4_1 = new Bapi2045L4(); //Instance of the input structure type
    //Populating data
    eleInspPointData = wdContext.nodeInsppointdata().createInsppointdataElement(objBapi2045L4_1);
    wdContext.nodeInsppointdata().addElement(eleInspPointData);
    eleInspPointData.setInsplot(wdContext.currentContextElement().getInspectionLotNumber());
    eleInspPointData.setInspoper("0101");
    //Inspection_Validate_Input is the model node. Adding instance to main node
    wdContext.currentInspection_Validate_InputElement().modelObject().addInsppointdata(objBapi2045L4_1);
    //STOP A
    //Now executing the RFC
    Above code seems to be fine. Works very well for the first time. But, when the user clicks on the same button for the second time, I can see duplicate records getting passed to RFC [Debugged using external breakpoint]. When I am sending 4 records, I can see there are total of 6 records. The number keeps increasing when clicked on the button.
    I am adding multiple records to input model node using the code from START A to STOP A. Does the code look fine? Why do I see multiple records?
    Thanks,
    Sham

    Issue solved.
    After executing RFC, I used following code to clear the input model node:
    try
         wdContext.current<yourBAPI>_InputElement().modelObject().get<yourinputnode>().clear();
    catch (Exception e1)

  • Date difference calculation with user input variable

    Hi,
    I have the following requirement in BEx:
    The user inputs a date value and I have to calculate the difference between the date entered by the user with the Due Date in the cube, to determine the number of backlog days. Basically, I need to calculate Past Due in number of days.  I need to display the Amount due for the Time buckets like 1 -10 days, 11 -30 days.
    The report output has to be in the format below:
    Columns:
    1 u2013 10 days Past Due      $100.00
    11 u2013 30 days Past Due    $15.00
    Rows:
    Customer#
    The cube has data from Jan 2005 to June 2008.
    For Eg:   User Input Date =   04/30/2008.
    It should compare the input date to the due date for each record in the cube.
    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Hi Kumar,
    We have developed simar reports in our previous projects.
    You need to follow the following steps.
    1. Create a new restricted key figure globally on Past Due $100. Restriction details I will let you know in the ensuing steps.
    2. Create another restricted key figure globally on Past Due $15. Restriction details I will let you know in the ensuing steps.
    3. Create a Z varuable on Calday and offset it -1 (use the button next to exclude button).
    4.Create another Z varuable on Calday and offset it -10 (use the button next to exclude button).
    5. Create another Z varuable on Calday and offset it -11 (use the button next to exclude button).
    6. Create another Z varuable on Calday and offset it -30(use the button next to exclude button).
    7 Restrict the RKF past due 100$ (defined in sl 1)between the variable range defined in 3 and 4.
    8. Restrict the RKF past due 15$ (defined in sl 2) between the variable range defined in 5 and 6
    Now drag and drop those two RKF to column and you will get the desired result in C1 and C2 as follows:
    Columns:
    C1 :1 u2013 10 days Past Due $100.00
    C2 :11 u2013 30 days Past Due $15.00
    If the above info serves your purpose, please reward me with the point.

  • User input formula variable with greater than/less than operators for KFG

    Hello all,
    I have used a formula in my query that is a difference of two key figures .For e.g:
    Difference = tax from system A  -  tax from system B.
    Now when the users run the report they should be prompted for the 'Difference' threshold for seeing the report say where difference is greater 100 or equal to 10 and so on.Currrently I have created a formula variable with 'user input' and created a 'condition' to display 'Difference' greater than the user entered value.
    However,it is required to have various selection options for setting the threshold of difference.For e.g User should be able to set say 'equal to'/'greater than/less than/not equal to operator for 'difference' in the initial selection screen of the report.
    With the current user-input formula variable I am not getting these 'greater than' etc operators.Any ideas on how to achieve this?

    Ya know, that's all well and good ... BUT ... WHAT IF you do want to sort text type columns with Greater Than and Less Than operatiors??
    SQL does it just Fine ... so WHY does APEX have the limit??? This is an Oracle BUG ... it SHOULD NOT limit the operators ... I realize "they" may be trying to be helpful with proper constraints to field searches ... but ... if SQL can do it, then ... no need for a limit.
    EG ...
    Show the records where
    the "Begin_Year-Wk" data is less than or equal to "2009-09" AND
    the "End_Year-Wk" data is greater than or equal to "2009-04"
    ... to give everything that was running in that 5 week period whether or not it starts within that time frame
    I can run this query perfectly fine via SQL ... but not in APEX ... unless I reconvert a lot of strings back to numbers, and for sorting / formatting / explain-to-user purposes, I really don't want them to be numbers.
    So ... there's gotta be a hidden tweak for operators somewhere ...

  • Displaying alert message based on user input on input param screen

    Hi,
    Based on user input I wish to display an alert popup on my report. I
    have provided the user 2 dropdowns called sortasc and sortdesc with all
    the column names used in the report to simulate dynamic sorting.This is
    because we do not have dynamic sorting in CR XI R2. When the user
    selects same column name in both sortasc and sortdesc then the sort
    type which has priority in the record sort expert is executed. This is fine but we want an alert
    or message popup displayed so as to prevent user from selecting same
    column names.
    I tried adding an alert with the following code:
    if {?sortasc} = {?sortdesc} then true else false
    So far I have not been prompted with any alert message box.
    Let me know if there is any other option.

    Hi Shalu,
    I have created a alert and it is working fine, please follow the steps
    Create a new Alert using two static parameters and give the condition for message like :
    if {?Myworld} = {?Myworld1} Then
    'You have entered a correct word'
    else
    'This is not a correct word'
    Then create a condition like :
    {?Myworld} = {?Myworld1} or {?Myworld} <> {?Myworld1}
    Also check the check box Enabled and save the alert.  Now it will popup if the myworld is equal to myworld1 or myworld is not equal to myworld1.
    Hope this will help you
    Thanks,
    Sastry

    I am having issues with getting user input to pass from a form that a user fills out into variables that I can then use in other methods and commands. (ex; SQL Query, SQL Data Add, ... )
    I have attached the Powershell script I am using in it's designed form but I am having issues getting the DataCollection function to grab the content of the InputBox and send it to a variable for later use.
    Note: I'm running this at this time from the ISE so I can actually see what is going on.

    $button.Text = “Ok”
    $button.Add_Click({DataCapture})
    $FormDBA.Controls.Add($button)
    $FormDBA.Controls.Add($InBoxTxtSID)
    $FormDBA.Controls.Add($InBoxTxtUSR)
    $FormDBA.Controls.Add($InBoxTxtPCN)
    $FormDBA.Controls.Add($InBoxTxtDPT)
    $FormDBA.Controls.Add($InBoxTxtPCT)
    $FormDBA.Controls.Add($InBoxTxtMAK)
    $FormDBA.Controls.Add($InBoxTxtMOD)
    $FormDBA.Controls.Add($InBoxTxtOPS)
    $FormDBA.Controls.Add($InBoxTxtDIS)
    $FormDBA.Controls.Add($InBoxSID)
    $FormDBA.Controls.Add($InBoxUSR)
    $FormDBA.Controls.Add($InBoxPCN)
    $FormDBA.Controls.Add($InBoxDPT)
    $FormDBA.Controls.Add($InBoxPCT)
    $FormDBA.Controls.Add($InBoxMAK)
    $FormDBA.Controls.Add($InBoxMOD)
    $FormDBA.Controls.Add($InBoxOPS)
    $FormDBA.Controls.Add($InBoxDIS)
    $FormDBA.ShowDialog()

    Change this:
    $button = New-Object System.Windows.Forms.Button
    $button.Location = New-Object System.Drawing.Size(150,400)
    $button.Width = 100
    $button.Text = “Ok”
    $button.DialogResult='Ok'  #<<<<<-------
    #$button.Add_Click({DataCapture})
    Remove function andrun like this:
    if('Ok' -eq $FormDBA.ShowDialog()){
        $FormDBA.Controls|%{$_.Text}
    With names you can get values by control name.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    This suggestion works for the purpose I needed.
    If I could, I would attach the file instead of pasting the script so you can see what all I am using this to do.
    But in short, we have a main form we use to pull records from a database and call up an application at the click of a button for remote assistance.  However, we seem to now need the ability to have this application to edit and add new records into said
    database.  That's where this second form came in and also when I hit my issue with the information capture.
    At this time I'm getting this to format the information collected so that I can start using using it with SQL commands.

  • Linking user input to class

    Hello there,
    I have some code that records a ball around the screen for 30seconds, but i am trying to make this length to the users discretion. I have a seperate class which askes for the user input but I can not link this input to the lengh of scene integeger. I was told to use global variables but I have tried but it gives me 2 errors in my class where I have tried to add the userinput to the time frame;
    1. ; expected
    2.Cannot resolve symbol variable string
    here is the code where I have declared the global variable;
    public class Example2 extends JFrame implements ActionListener {
    public static String inputValue;
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
         if (e.getActionCommand().equals("Timer")) {
    String inputValue = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Length Of Scene");
    System.out.println("Length of Scene " + inputValue);
    and here's the code where I have tried to link the user input to the lengh of scene;
    public class Example extends Panel implements TalktativeGuy, MouseListener
         int timeFrame = String Example2.inputValue;
    any suggestions?

    Scope is the key.
        public static String inputValue;
        public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
            if (e.getActionCommand().equals("Timer")) {
                String inputValue = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Length Of Scene"); The first statement is a member variable in class scope (by definition). It appears not to be instantiated and so has the value null. The last statement is a local variable urelated to the first statement. If you remove the type (String) from the last statement then it becomes the instantiation/assignment for the first statement (which will no longer be null).
    About the two errors you listed: the stack trace will tell you what class each is in, the sequence of method calls in the class and usually will also tell you the line number where the trouble lies. You can use this information to track down the errors.

  • Refresh page but SAVE USER INPUT in tabular form WITHOUT UPDATE

    Hi,
    When there is a tabular form in the page and user refreshes it (in anyway) tabular form's elements are always computed with values from the table in db. Can we somehow save user input in fields so that after refreshing page user will see what he/she has typed but not submitted to db?
    Regards,
    Tom

    Hello Andy,
    Let me introduce you to the problem.
    There is a tabular form based on a source table. User modifies the data and after he/she clicks Submit button the validation procedure is being run before MRU. If the result of validation is positive then MRU is run otherwise data should not be submitted to db and user should be informed about the result. Moreover, he/she should see the invalid data in fields. Not the correct one from db.
    Is there any way to save a session state of these fields or of a whole tabular form? I cannot save the data in other table in db.
    User cannot click 'Add row' several times in my app because after he clicks it once then the button disappears and appears again only when he/she clicks 'Submit' first (so after validation procedure).
    Maybe there is some way to store fields' values in memory and then compute the form when page is loading again?
    Imagine the situation that there are 100 rows in tabular form and user modifies it for one hour, clicks Submit, validation result is negative and his/her whole one hour work is lost, because the form has been refreshed according to what is stored in db. Such situation should never occur.
    Regards,
    Tom
