Records with a picklist field with empty values can't be seen from a report. I've created a report that have a picklist as a column. When there is no values the record(s) associated to this picklist don't appear. Do you know what are the common causes for this event?

go to SUIM > roles > roles by complexselection criteria>
under the selection according to authorization values give the object's form SU53 screen and press enter it will asks the values for given object pass the values as per the SU53 and execute it will give the list of roles.... capture the roles. The user gets access if you give the any one of the listed roles is assigned, assign the role as per your approval process.

Problem with modifying table field with SQL

In a particular table, there are some values that end with a null character (ascii(0)) and we don't want them null-terminated. I've been trying to use the following SQL statement to find those fields and then remove the null character from the end (each record has a 'field_id' field and the 'value' field which holds the actual value of that field_id):
update num_data
set value = substr(value,1,instr(value,ascii(0))-1)
where field_id = 'FIELD1'
select field_id
from num_data
where ascii(substr(value,length(value),1)) = 0
All it does is execute for several minutes before I just have to interrupt it, and no changes are made.

I see I messed up; the query should have been:
update num_data
set value = substr(value,1,instr(value,ascii(0))-1)
where field_id in
select field_id
from num_data
where ascii(substr(value,length(value),1)) = 0
But since I wrote this note, I ran that query again, and it worked as I wanted it to; maybe our DB was running slow at that time, though I waited a few minutes for results.

There should definitely be no issue. You can register more than one Apple device with the same Apple ID and get the same apps on both devices without having to pay for the apps again.
Alternatively, if you want all your settings to say the same, do a backup of your old iPod Touch and then whe you receive the new iPod, restore the backup on it and it'll save you the trouble from having to redownload everything.

Searching Web Apps with Data Source fields containing multiple values

I have a Web App with a field allowing multiple values to be entered similar to the checkbox list. I need to restrict allowed values to a large, finite list of values currently stored in another Web App as the data source. I can't apply the Data Source field type as that only allows single value selection. I also need to be able to use the Web App Search form to search for items containing 1 OR more values in this field (the search functionality of a checklist field type). Here's what I've tried for field types:
Text (string) or Text (multiline) field type - By saving a list of comma separated values (the same way that checkbox list outputs) to a text input or textarea, the search logic only searches for exact string (including commas) and doesn't parse the individual values.
List (checkbox list) field type - This allows me to search multiple values using OR logic, but the web app will only store values that have been entered as options in the actual web app field setup. I tried using a checkbox list with minimal or empty options hoping that whatever values I sent over in a comma separated string value would still get stored, but because the values came from my Web App data source and not the list of options stored with the field, they were not saved.
Has anyone found a way to do this?
My other question is about how I might use a similar multi-value field as described above but return search results containing items with ALL selected values for that field (AND logic).
Can anyone enlighten me to the inner workings of BC web app search logic?

You'll need to create your own interface to the webapp database for those kind of data operations
by this, are you speaking of the internal BC database which stores web app schema data? That would be great if it were possible to update that programmatically because I need to use the List (Checkbox List) field type (for the search functionality), but I need to supply the checkbox options from a web app rather than by manually updating the list entered in the Fields view of the web app settings (shown below).
I'm curious if anyone else has tried this?
Again, my reason for needing to use the List (Checkbox List) field type is that the page which processes searches knows to expect a comma separated list for this field type and then appears to be parsing out the individual values for searching out web app items with 1 or more matching values. You're right that text fields (string and multiline) just check for 'string contains' matches, and this would be ok if I was only ever needing to search just one value at a time. Here's an example of what I might do:
Web App item field value (as recorded against the List (Checkbox List) field type:
8294877,8294878
Web App Search value (for this same field):
8294879,8294877,8294885
The search would return this web app item because the field contains 2 (1 or more) individual values even though they were entered into the search field in a different order. If this web app item were just a Text (string or multiline) field, the searched value is not a substring of the web app item's stored value, so it would not find a match. Hence the need to use Checkbox List field type.
The web app will have thousands if not 10s of thousands of records, so dumping them all into one big array or object and searching on the front-end won't be practical (though it works great on smaller datasets).

Few Projectproperty and Listproperty fields returning empty values (CrossListQueryInfo)

I am running a CrossListQueryInfo and the ViewFields for the CAML includes

I am getting empty values for Url and DefaultViewUrl, although it is returning Titles correctly. Is this some limitation or I am missing something?

XML Report completes with error due to REP-271504897: Unable to retrieve a string from the Report Builder message file.

We are in the middle of testing our R12 Upgrade. I am getting this error from the invoice XML-based report that we are using in R12. (based on log). Only for a specific invoice number that this error is appearing. The trace is not showing me anything. I don't know how to proceed on how to debug where the error is coming from and how to fix this. I found a patch 8339196 that shows exactly the same error number but however, I have to reproduce the error in another test instance before we apply the patch. I created exactly the same order and interface to AR and it doesnt generate an error. I even copied the order and interface to AR and it doesn't complete with error. It is only for this particular invoice that is having an issue and I need to get the root cause as to why. Please help. I appreciate what you all can contribute to identify and fix our issue. We have not faced this issue in R11i that we are maintaining right now for the same program which has been running for sometime. However, after the upgrade for this particular data that the user has created, it is throwing this error REP-271504897.

If you cant reproduce the issue on other instance, apply the patch on the test instance and verify all the funcionality related to the patch works OK. Then move the patch to production. Or you can clone the prod environment to test the patch.

With this new itunes I see you can download old song from other p.cs if they are listed in your itunes with a could next to them. How do I make it so I see the songs on my new itunes on a different computer?

When I first downloaded itunes 11 I saw all my old song that are on another computer listed in my itunes list on my laptop with a little cloud with an arrow in it next to the songs from my old itunes. When I updated to 11.1 the cloud icon stayed in the top part of the itunes list where you can click name, artist, all that to organize you itunes list but the songs from my old account were gone. I can't remember how, but some how I tuned the songs back on, if you will and all my old songs repaired with the clouds next to them. Well my boyfriend has the cloud smiple in his organize list thing, but no songs from his old itunes list of a different computer like me and he wants those songs back. I have been trying for hours to re-watch the itunes and icloud tutorials but because of my slow wi-fi I can't get the videos to load and they keep freezing my itunes so I can't even shut it down without restarting my laptop, so I need some help on remebering how to make the old songs show up in his itunes. Can anyone please help? By the way we both have Windows 7.

If you go to settings>music there should be a setting to show all music. Turn that off, and the cloud purchases should disappear. You may need to restart the phone to take efect

With icloud set up on my 4GS I deleted photos from camera roll. I run an older PPC G5 with Lion which wont run icloud. Can I transfer pics from i stream to camera roll to allow a non-icloud back up to my PPC? Precious photos are close to 30 day cut-off

With i cloud set up on my 4GS I deleted photos from Camera Roll to make space knowing I would have them backed up on icloud via Photo Stream. I now find that my older PPC G5 with Lion which wont run icloud. I have an ipad3 too, which of course does. I want to copy photos from Photo Stream back to Camera Roll on the phone so that I can back up "old school" to iphoto on my ancient mac. The controls seem to suggest that as an option but when I select multiple photos in Photo Stream and select "Save to Camera Roll" the photos do not appear on Camera Roll as expected. I am running close to the 30 day limit and do not want to lose hundreds of precious photos (or have to email them to myself individually). Can the ipad3 help at all? Any ideas good people? Dan

If only it were that easy Winston. I connect with a USB cable, iphoto opens and I can only see the photos in Camera Roll, not Photo Stream. There does not seem to be a way of aceessing other files in the phone from iphoto and, as in my initial message, I can not transfer the photos to Camera Roll on the phone. My iphone and ipad software is up to date, but my iphoto is '08 version 7.1.5 with my mac running 10.5.8 which is the best I can do on the PPC without messing everything up. I dont have the dough for a new mac or I would have gone for that option...am I stuck?

Passing single/multiple values to stored proc parameter from crystal report

I tried below solution posted on this forum to pass either a single value or multi-value to a sql server stored procedure parameter (varchar datatype) from crystal report XI R2.
In my crystal report , I am displaying all the available parameter values to the user and the user will select either a single value or multi value.
This worked when I select single value and when I say show sql query in my subreport I see the following:
{CALL "XYZ"."dbo"."storedprocedurename";1('Product 1')}
But this did not worked when I selected multiple values and when I say show sql query in my subreport I see the following:
{CALL "XYZ"."dbo"."storedprocedurename";1('Product 1,Product 2')}
I think it might work if it is as below:*
For multiple values:
{CALL "xyz"."dbo"."storedprocedurename";1('Product 1', 'Product 2')}

As you must be aware of that a crystal report created of a stored procedure will allow only a single value for inserting a multiple value as a parameter in your report and pass those values to your stored procedure please follow the below work around which will be helpful for you.
Symptom
In Crystal Reports, you want to pass a multi-value parameter to a stored procedure. The problem with doing so is that Crystal Reports considers the multi-value parameter to be an array.
How can you pass a multi-value parameter to a stored procedure?
Resolution
Here are the steps to pass a multi-value parameter to a stored procedure:
1. Create a Crystal report, and add a multi-value parameter.
2. Since the multi-value parameter is treated as an array, create a formula that uses the JOIN function. Create a formula as below:
//Formula: @JoinFormula
Join ({?Multi-value parameter array},";")
====================
NOTE:
In the formula above, a semi-colon (";") is the delimiter.
====================
3. Within the main report, create a subreport based on the stored procedure, and include the parameter to be populated with the multi-value list.
4. Link the Join formula in the main report to the stored procedure parameter in the subreport.
Doing so passes a multi-value parameter to the stored procedure.

First you need to make sure the stored procedure accepts multiple values in the fashion 'a','b','c'.
Then, create this formula in the Main Report:

left(s,len(s)-1);
Link this formula to the sub-report's parameter.

I have a table:
                    col1            col2               col3
row1              r1c1           r1c2               r1c3

I need col2 to be dropdown. Here when doinit default data is being passed to this table. Now when the WDA loads, i want col2 to be dropdown, but with only one value. whatever i have in backend.Here intially i want to disable col2. User should not hcange it.
But when i hit ADDNEWROW button, it shoudl create row4, with some (i m writing a query to fetch col2 values) values in the dropdown. User should be able to select any value here.
The r1c2 and r2c2, r3c2, should not change on ADDNEWROW. they should remain the same.

Please refer the code below for filling drop down in table.... this is hard coding i.e. i m filling value directly with out using database table .now wht u have to do is that you have to create an internal table with two column one key and one value. select data from database into internal table. thn just replace hard coding with the value and key column of internal table

How do I count/add fields with numbers and fields with letters?

This is an attendance calendar I'm making for my work.
Cells in CLIENT A column will be marked with either a number ( >0, indicating how many hours attended) or a letter (A = absent, H = Holiday).
I need 2 formulas/scripts I suppose:
1) I would like cell DP1 to represent how many cells in the CLIENT A column are marked only with a number >0 -indicating how many days were attended, not how many total hours there are.
2) I would like cell DA1 to represent how many cells in the CLIENT A column are marked only with the letter A -indicating how many days were not attended.

Let's say there are 20 fields in the column. In that case you can use these scripts:
Custom calculation script for "DPA"

Help needed with 'Conditions' for field with read only on demand

I really need your help now, i have two items named P22_LOGIN_TYPE (..wich can be 'Default' or 'Special') and P22_PASSWORD, i need to turn to 'read only' the second item when the first item is 'Default', i'v tryied the conditional option but with no success, i know is managed from there but it's not working for me, it seems that i don't know exactly how to do it. By the way, i have APEX 2.2.
I need an exact guide (explanation) on how to do it, thank you very much.

Firstly you could set your First item to be a select list with submit. Make the branch go to the same page.
Secondly, on the read-only conditions for your second item, use the condition when item in expression 1 = value in expression 2, and set that to 'Default' in expression 2.
Essentially this will re-submit your page when you make a selection either 'Default' or 'Special'. If 'Default' is selected, then the PASSWORD item will be rendered as read-only. If you don't want to display the PASSWORD item at all, you can put the above condition for the read-only, into the conditions section of the item.
Hope this helps and is not too confusing. It reads a lot worse than it actually is ;)

If your phone is in recovery mode, all the data on it, including those photos, is already lost. Leaving important photos on a phone for any length of time, such as baby pictures, as you've found out is a terrible idea.
You've no option but to restore your phone.
