Welcome to the forum!
Whenever you post provide your 4 digit Oracle version (result of SELECT * FROM V$VERSION).

FLASHBACK TABLE myTable TO BEFORE DROP;
See the examples in the FLASHBACK TABLE section of the SQL Language doc
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28286/statements_9012.htm
>
Retrieving a Dropped Table: Example If you accidentally drop the pm.print_media table and want to retrieve it, then issue the following statement:
FLASHBACK TABLE print_media TO BEFORE DROP;
If another print_media table has been created in the pm schema, then use the RENAME TO clause to rename the retrieved table:
FLASHBACK TABLE print_media TO BEFORE DROP RENAME TO print_media_old;
If you know that the employees table has been dropped multiple times, and you want to retrieve the oldest version, then query the USER_RECYLEBIN table to determine the system-generated name, and then use that name in the FLASHBACK TABLE statement. (System-generated names in your database will differ from those shown here.)
SELECT object_name, droptime FROM user_recyclebin
WHERE original_name = 'PRINT_MEDIA';

Create a new row in a table without using add new row button
I want to add a new row to the table without using the add new row button of the table. I'm not able to display default row in the table. Though if click on apply the record appears after saving in the database. Any thoughts how to implement this functionality.
Here is what you have to do.
1) You have to handle this in processRequest()
2) In the AM code , u need to check if there is already a row exisit or vo is blank
if (vo.getFetchedRowCount() == 0)
// first time
vo.setMaxFetchSize(0); // THIS IS REQUIRED.
Row row = vo.createRow();
vo.insertRow(row);
row.setNewRowState(Row.STATUS_INITIALIZED);
else
//If already rows are there then you suppose to insert in the end
// i assume you would have execute your vo
YourVORowImpl row= (YourVORowImpl)vo.getRowAtRangeIndex(0);
vo2.insertRowAtRangeIndex();
It should work. -
I want to create an internal table without using header line and occurs 0?
hi experts,
Can anybody help me to declare an internal table without using headerline and occurs 0 options but still i have to use the functionalities that occurs 0 and header line options provide.Hi Saisri,
You can use the internal table without headerline and create a header for then internal table with the same structure. We need to use the header while manipulating with the data of the internal table.
example:
types: begin of ty_afpo,
kdauf type kdauf,
kdpos type kdpos,
ltrmp type ltrmp,
end of ty_afpo.
data : t_afpo type standard table of ty_afpo, " internal table declaration
wa_afpo type ty_afpo. " work area declaration
<after populating the data into the internal table>
loop at t_afpo into wa_afpo.
write:/ wa_afpo-kdauf, wa_afpo-kdpos, wa_afpo-ltrmp.
endloop.
This I think shall give you a basic understanding of how things work.

TonyThank you,
Yes we've done that. They've confirmed a problem with the links/scripts on the note. The 10.1 and up version was not really 10.1 and up.
As they would not have a new version available in time for the move we needed to perform, we switched our approach to using dbms_redefinition instead.
Thanks for the reply,

Add / Delete a row in a table without using a button
Hi,
I was just wondering if it was possible to remove or add a row in a table without using the button? I noticed that in all examples, it always involve putting code in the button click event but I wanted to add or delete a row in a table based on the fact if the row contains a certain value or not. Is that possible?
Much appreciated,
VincentVincent,
Here is the updated file..
https://acrobat.com/#d=bVDBNM0pnS2IpfE58V01Tg
You have checked the checkbox "Repeat subform for each Row" for Header Row under IndTable1. You need to do at Row1 level of Table1.
I bound the Row1 of Table1 to <Row1> tag in your XML which can repeat multiple times.
I wrote the code in the Doc Ready event of the Test1 field to check whether the value is existing or not. If it does not have a value, then I am removing the instance of the Row1 by passing the current index.. (You can check the code)..
While creating a data connection using XML you need to make sure that the below structure is repeated atleast 2 times. And while previewing you can use make a copy of this same XML and remove Row1.
<Row1>
<Test1>Individual Name 1</Test1>
</Row1>
Thanks

Add a new record in database table without using table maintance generator
Hi Expart ,
Plz. tell me how to add new record in database table without using table maintance ganerator ....give me one ex.
Regards
BhabaniHi,
The other way to safely handle the modification of tables is through is by programs that can be done with SE38 or SE80.
To insert into database table we use INSERT statement :
1. To insert a single line into a database table, use the following:
INSERT INTO <target> VALUES <wa>.
INSERT <target> FROM <wa>.
2. To insert a several lines into a database table, use the following:
INSERT <target> FROM TABLE <itaba>.
Or even we can use MODIFY statementas this single statement is used to insert as well as update the records of database table.
MODIFY <target> FROM <wa>.
or MODIFY <target> FROM TABLE <itab>.
thanx.

You can use apps such as Skype For iPad from the app store, but if you are asking whether you can make 'normal' phone calls with it then no, you can't.

Display distinct rows from Oracle table without using "DISTINCT" keyword.
How to retrieve distinct rows from oracle table without using 'DISTINCT' keyword in SQL?
Thanks in advance.
MihirWelcome to the forum.
Besides GROUP BY you can use UNIQUE instead of DISTINCT as well, but that's probably not wanted here ;) , and the ROW_NUMBER() analytic:
SQL> create table t as

3 select 1 from dual union all
4 select 2 from dual union all
5 select 3 from dual union all
6 select 4 from dual union all
7 select 4 from dual;

SQL> select distinct col1 from t;

Table is been dropped and i want o recover it.
Database is running in archive log mode and i had valid full database rman backup too.
flashback is disabled.
database version -10g
Please let me know the steps i can follow to recover the dropped table.Hello,
If your RECYCLEBIN is activated you may Flashback Drop your Table.
So you may check your RECYCLEBIN by using the following query:
select object_name, original_name from user_recyclebin;If you can see your Table (original_name) so you may execute the statement below:
flashback table <table_name> to before drop;Else, you'll need a Backup or a dump to restore your Table.
For instance, by duplicating your database elsewhere and get back the Table by DataPump (expdp/impdp).
Hope this help.
Best regards,
Jean-Valentin

Unable to display data no entry in the table without using Model clause
Hi,
I've an urgent requirement described below :
The previously posted Question has been answerted using Model Clause:
Is there any way out to solve it without using Model clause:
I've a table named as "sale" consisting of three columns : empno, sale_amt and sale_date.
(Please ref. The table script with data as given below)
Now if I execute the query :
"select trunc(sale_date) sale_date, sum(sale_amt) total_sale from sale group by trunc(sale_date) order by 1"
then it displays the data for the dates of which there is an entry in that table. But it does not display data for the
date of which there is no entry in that table.
If you run the Table script with data in your schema, then u'll see that there is no entry for 28th. Nov. 2009 in
sale table. Now the above query displays data for rest of the dates as its are in sale table except for 28th. Nov. 2009.
But I need its presence in the query output with a value of "sale_date" as "28th. Nov. 2009" and that of "total_sale" as
"0".
Is there any means to get the result as I require?
Please help ASAP.
Thanks in advance.

How to delete the record in the table without using lead selection?
hi,
I have added the separate column "delete" to the table uielement and so for each record or row of the table the appropriate "delete" link to action will be there................the code below works when the particular row is selected through lead selection only.......

The onclick event provides you with a standard paramater "CONTEXT_ELEMENT" which has the element from which the event is triggered.
so you can declare this in the handler(if it is not there) and use it as follows.
CONTEXT_ELEMENT TYPE REF TO IF_WD_CONTEXT_ELEMENT an importing paramater.
DATA:
NODE_MODULE TYPE REF TO IF_WD_CONTEXT_NODE,
ELEM_MODULE TYPE REF TO IF_WD_CONTEXT_ELEMENT,
STRU_MODULE TYPE IF_V_MODULE=>ELEMENT_MODULE .
data itab TYPE TABLE OF zac_modules.
CONTEXT_ELEMENT->GET_STATIC_ATTRIBUTES(
IMPORTING
STATIC_ATTRIBUTES = STRU_MODULE ). "Using the context_element paramater to get the static attributes.
NODE_MODULE->GET_STATIC_ATTRIBUTES_TABLE(
IMPORTING
TABLE = itab ) "getting all the data.
DELETE itab WHERE zmodule_id = STRU_MODULE-zmodule_id. "deleting the particular row from the table and binding it.

Delete From More than 1 table without using execute immediate
Hi,
Am new to PL/SQL, I had been asked to delete few of the table for my ETL jobs in Oracle 10G R2. I have to delete(truncate) few tables and the table names are in another table with a flag to delete it or not. So, when ever I run the job it should check for the flag and for those flag which is 'Y' then for all those tables should be deleted without using the Execute Immediate, because I dont have privilages to use "Execute Immediate" statement.
Can anyone help me in how to do this.
Regards
SenthilThen tell you DBA's, or better yet their boss, that they need some additional training in how Oracle actually works.
Yes, dynamic sql can be a bad thing when it is used to generate hundreds of identical queries that differ ony in the literals used in predicates, but for something like a set of delte table statements or truncate table statements, dynamic sql is no different in terms of the effect on the shared pool that hard coding the sql statements.
This is a bad use of dynamic sql, because it generates a lot of nearly identical statements due to the lack of bind variables. It is the type of thing your DBA's should, correctly, bring out the lead pipe for.
DECLARE
l_sql VARCHAR2(4000);
BEGIN
FOR r in (SELECT account_no FROM accounts_to_delete) LOOP
l_sql := 'DELETE FROM accounts WHERE account_no = '||r.account_no;
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE l_sql;
END LOOP;
END;This will result in one sql statement in the shared pool for every row in accounts_to_delete. Although there is much else wrong with this example, from the bind variable perspective it should be re-written to use bind variables like:
DECLARE
l_sql VARCHAR2(4000);
l_acct NUMBER;
BEGIN
FOR r in (SELECT account_no FROM accounts_to_delete) LOOP
l_sql := 'DELETE FROM accounts WHERE account_no = :b1';
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE l_sql USING l_acct;
END LOOP;
END;However, since you cannot bind object names into sql statements, the difference in terms of the number of statements that end up in the shared pool between this:
DECLARE
l_sql VARCHAR2(4000);
BEGIN
FOR r in (SELECT table_name, delete_tab, trunc_tab
FROM tables_to_delete) LOOP
IF r.delete_tab = 'Y' THEN
l_sql := 'DELETE FROM '||r.table_name;
ELSIF r.trunc_tab = 'Y' THEN
l_sql := 'TRUNCATE TABLE '||r.table_name;
ELSE
l_sql := NULL;
END IF;
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE l_sql;
END LOOP;
END;and something like this:
BEGIN
DELETE FROM tab1;
DELETE FROM tab2;
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'TRUNCTE TABLE tab3';
END;or this as a sql script
DELETE FROM tab1;
DELETE FROM tab2;
TRUNCTE TABLE tab3;is absolutley nothing.
Note that if you are truncating some of the tables, and wnat/need to use a stored procedure, you are going to have to use dynamic sql for the truncates anyway since trncate is ddl, and you cannot do ddl in pl/sql wiothout using dynamic sql.

http://oraware.blogspot.com/2008/04/can-i-use-retention-policy-without.htmlKhurramHmmm, I can't see where the confusion originates. The table near the bottom of www.apple.com/timecapsule/specs.html has one row labelled "For backup using Time Machine" and another row labelled "For AirPort Disk with a USB hard drive".
The requirement for backup via Time Machine is OS 10.5.1 or better. Time Machine is not supported in pre-Leopard (OS 10.5) nor in Windows.
The requirement for using Time Capsule as a remote disk is identified as "Mac with Mac OS X v10.4.8 or later" or "PC with Windows XP (SP2) or Windows Vista; Bonjour for Windows (included on Time Capsule CD)".
Doesn't that pretty much spell out that Time Capsule works as a network drive without the need for Time Machine?
Also Joe (the OP) never indicated any desire to use it with Windows so I'm not sure why all the discussion about Windows compatibility. ??
Also the quote posted by Henry seems pretty clear:
"Time Capsule with Time Machine in Leopard is the ideal backup solution. But that doesn’t mean Tiger, Windows XP, and Windows Vista users can’t enjoy the benefits of Time Capsule, too. Because it mounts as a wireless hard drive, Tiger and Windows users simply access Time Capsule directly from the wireless network for exchanging and storing files quickly and easily."
