    Hi,
The best option is to pull the card out and plug to your computer UNLESS your computer does not have a card reader. If your computer did not have a card reader, you need to map the cardreader on your printer to your network using the following method:

I have just sought  to update my lightroom and am now unable to access the develop function and get a note stating that I have reduced functionality what it this about and how do I get my product back

    Hi there
I have version 5.7 and every time I opened it I was told that updates are available and to click on the icon to access these.  Instead it just took me to the
adobe page with nowhere visible to update.  I then  sought to download lightroom cc and this is when I could not access the 'develop' section due to reduced
functionality  It was apparent that my photos had been put in cc but no way to access them unless I wanted to subscribe.
I have since remedied the problem as  my original lightroom 5.7 icon is still available on the desktop and have gone back to that.  I do feel that this is a bit
of a rip off and an unnecessary waste of my time though.
Thank you for your prompt reply by the way.

  • How to design and develop Cost center with SAP BPC 5.1 ?

    Hi all,
Can any one tell me how to design and develop cost center planning (what are the steps to follow) using SAP BPC 5.1?
    Thanks,
    Sandy

    Hi Sandeep,
1:We need to look at whether cost center planning is tied to a profit center level and/or to a company code level
2:We could have dimensions like Account(which in this case would reflect cost element),category, entity, time with additional dimension s like profit center(cost centers can have a direct mapping to profit center, usage of properties would help in here),WBS ,projects, investment position id's etc.
3:We could look at different applications like HR(pay roll related expenses),admin, capex(to bring in depreciation values) etc to bring in data to pull in data to different cost centers either directly or via script logic(usage of destination_app)
4:For those values not tied up to profit centers ,we would look at allocating/distributing the expenses to different cost elements
5:We need to decide whether we do the planning on a monthly/periodic vs yearly level where in we would look at actual values and incrementing at a certain % to fill in as the base for our planning(using category=actual/plan plus timeperiods). We could look at Top down vs botton up approach as well to segregate the planned costs
6:Consideration should be made at security level to identify/restrict different users who needs to access specific cost centers
Yes,this is just a small jist of structure, there are 100's of other considerations which would come into picture from a business requirement level.

  • Full production refresh to development systems and Charm?

    Hi SDN Community,
Where I work we have a policy of refreshing the development systems (ECC, CRM, APO, BI, SRM) on an annual basis with full production system data, HR data is subsequently wiped clean from the development system.
For each of our systems we have a development system, a QA system and a production system.
The decision to do these full refreshes was taken to ensure that developers and configurers can do decent testing in the Dev environments - prior to transporting to our QA system - to ensure that we have a reasonably stable QA system. Prior to the refreshes - QA was considered too unstable by our business to be used as a good test platform - the full D refreshes solved this problem.
We have recently installed SAP Charm (Change request management) which is a solution manager based product that manages the transportation of objects in change requests - attached to maintenance cycles.
During our first development system refresh we discovered that all open Charm projects (maintenance cycles) were placed into an unuseable status due to the refresh. This means we had to rebuild all of the Charm projects after the refresh - which took a considerable amount of time + resources and delayed project work. We don't want to be in this situation again for our next refresh.
SAPs response to us has been that they have no other customer that does full Development system refreshes - and also has Charm. I wonder if this is accurate, I think what SAP are saying is that they don't have many Charm customers... Is refreshing Development so uncommon?
We are considering products like SAPs TDMS - and alternatives (eg gold client) - but most of these appear a little immature - for refreshing complex system landscapes - such as ours and keeping everything in synch after the refresh.
    My questions to SDN -
What do you do - do you do full refreshes to your D systems?
If not - what are the arguments against refreshing D systems (is this considered bad practice)?
Are there any other Charm customers out there in a similar situation to us?
How do you manage the stability of your QA environments and stop the transport into QA systems of untested changes - if your D systems are not similar to you production system
(note we have some 300 active users in just our ECC development system)?
Any suggestions / recommendations as to how to best proceed would be greatly appreciated.
    many thanks in advance,
    Julian Phillips
Edited by: Julian Phillips on Nov 11, 2008 2:33 PM

    Thanks Naushad for your reply,
I wonder if D refreshes are less common - more due to the additional hardware costs incurred (disk space needed to store full production data is usually pretty large) to do them - than due to avoiding disrupting development - probably a bit of both.
I did not mention this - but in our refresh we do reimport all transports that we open prior to the refresh - which used to solve our problems - in terms of restoring active changes - but with SAPs Charm system - this approach does not work as the Charm projects are left in an inconsistent status.
We are now leaning towards introducing a 4th set of systems into our landscape - so that we have the following platforms:
Development --->  Pre QA  ---> QA  ---> Production
This approach will allow us to keep both the Pre QA and QA systems refreshed every 6 months or so - and our new Dev system - we will refresh very infrequently (every 5 years perhaps) if at all. We will tie the Charm system to our new development - and this system will then not be impacted by refreshes. This approach means additional hardware cost - but as it happens we have a few spare boxes - so this maybe our best bet.
The core reason for our refresh is so that we will be able to preserve the stability of our QA test platform - which for us is the critical factor here. If QA has poorly tested work in it - we run a higher risk of disrupting other testing and also of this poorly tested work reaching production.
When we used to have a development system as you described and just the single QA box - we experienced frequent instability in our QA box - due to poorly tested working reaching it - and this delayed numerous projects.
Does anyone else have a 4 box setup like this? Anyone else encountered this on an SAP project anywhere? Pros / Cons of this approach?

  • Neptune for UI development Pros and Cons

    Hi ,
we are evaluating neptune for UI development for what are the pros and cons of using neptune.
i see only that webdynpro abap developer can be easily moved to neptune , some javascript knowledge is still required.
    some question
    1) can neptune make calls to odata services ? do that requires code in javascript or ABAP
    2) any accelerators provided by neptune  like for workflow scenarios , list and details .
    3) can sap standard fiori apps extensibility  or modification is possible through neptune
    4) security if its accessing business functionality directly
    regards
    Yashpal

    Hi Yashpal,
I will give you my view, but as Robbe says I work for the company and other SAP developers like DJ Adams has other development tool preferences than me ( I call his Sublime Text development spaghetti coding and he sees Neptune as a crutch that restricts a developer's freedom but this is just a friendly point-of-view discussion and I have promised him a beer in Walldorf next time our paths cross there)
So the important message is that SAP has opened up their platform for different development tools and it is now a choice for the individual developer or SAP customer. This is a fantastic move by SAP and I think a bit overlooked by the community, Look at the new Xamarin partnership as an example (and yes they are a competitor, but I did mention them )
Now the pros of Neptune are in my opinion:
ABAP developer friendly development (removed 90% of JavaScripting needed)
Connected to the SAP transport System (Software Logistics as is)
Drag Drop designer that gives structured code (easy for a new developer to take over code, compared to the spaghetti provided by DJ <-  I'll need to buy a few extra beers for that remark)
Native json communication provided by the Neptune Server (you can argue all you want about Odata, our solution is more flexible gives incredible performance and superb and easy to use offline capabilities)
Integration with Adobe build, use an SAP program to generate hybrid apps  (The average ABAP developer does not install cordova and build hybrid apps - with Neptune he/she does)
Integration with SMP. Automatic connection with the REST API's of SMP both on-premise and in the Cloud
Reduced time to market. One of the largest SAP implementation partners in the Nordics stated that Neptune reduced development time by 80%
Free templates (Advanced templates such as fully functional PM, HCM, SD templates are available Experience | Neptune Software  <- sorry for the marketing but you did ask)
UI5, all of the other third-party tools (Not SAP tools like App Builder, Eclipse etc) uses non UI5 frameworks. I personally believe that SAPUI5 (UI5) is the future of SAP UX and thus it only makes sense to keep a common and future-proof framework.
Network crunching. We optimize all networking. Which makes sense for mobility.
no extra infrastructure needed - it is a certified add-on and takes 15 mins to install.
Works with most versions of SAP. We even have alot of customers using 4.7 (we need the ICF so nothing lower). This is something the community often forgets. Yes it is cool to play with the latest Netweaver release, but do our customers have that installed?
    Cons (woot!)
Cost, even if Neptune is very affordable it still requires license for productive usage (free for developers though - and hey we need to live as well ) So custom coding  is cheaper in respect to license (but not in TCO in my opinion)
Generated code, even if we have added as much freedom to code custom JavaScript as possible there will always be restrictions in generated code compared to notepad. (But I haven't met an issue that couldn't be solved by custom coding in the Neptune Application Designer yet)
Other backend systems. Neptune is based on ABAP and as such it obviosly works best with an ABAP backend.
.... (Add stuff from other non Neptune ppl )
    Regarding your questions:
    1. Yes you can use Odata, best way is to consume it on the ABAP level, but you can of course consume it through JavaScript as well (Not recomended by me)
    2. Yes see above (free templates and also premium templates by our partners)
    3. No you can't modify a fiori app with Neptune, but the two solutions work perfectly together (You can add Neptune apps in the Fiori launchpad) One of our partners have created an RDS solution based on both Fiori and Neptune.
    4. Neptune is an add-on to Netweaver and as such has no extra security in itself beyond that (And we seek not to do that). But we support any security you wish to add on top. I strongly advice having a look at the SAP Secure offering (App protection and MDM)  as well as SMP (also the new Cloud edition which gives easy affordable protection for your backend)
So that was my very biased answer

  • Buongiorno Pests- How to get your money back and why you should

Buogiorno, make millions from thousands of us who unknowingly are subscribed to services which we had no idea about. It is easy to get a refund and the service stopped because they are very aware that what they are doing is wrong, but they rely on the hundred and thousands of us who dont check our bills because lets face it a mere £1.00 here and there will not alert you. The reason I was alerted was because I have 4 children all who have Iphones and they are all on my 1 account and I pay a nominal amount on a contract, which all of a sudden started to go over by £11 one month and now the 4th month it has gone over by £50.00 all because of Buogiorno, none  of my teenagers knowingly subscribed to anything I contacted Tmobile who immediately blocked the intrusive company from any future attempts at taking money, but they could do nothing to stop them from taking money for the things we had subscribed to albeit without our knowledge. Tmobile sent me the following information 0207 6499customercareuk@buongiorno  I called them on a Sunday, got a response but had to wait patiiently on the phone going through all the options until I got to a human being. I was direct, saying you have essentially stolen money from my account and I want my money back for every single phone as we had not subscribed to any such service. The lady at the end of the line, was very nice very accomodating and effortlesly proceeeded to de-subscribed me, and even asked, "Do you want a refund for this account" so make sure you make it clear you want a refund because otherwise they will simply stop future payments coming out. it is clear that customer services are very very well trained in handling what they know is happening every day, complaints and refunds, and they happily oblige, lets face it the number of us asking for our money back is few in comparison to the hundred and thousands who dont even know whats going on. This is a multi million dollar law suit waiting to happen, any one out there with the time and money to take this giant fraudster on will make a difference.- These fraudsters are pretty cleaver a couple of pounds from hundreds and thousands of people accross the world will make anyone a multi millionaire if not billionaire. They still make you go through hoops to get your money back- sending you an email, then you have to apply for your refund quoting the refence number they give you and it can take up to 7 days and maybe 48 hours to get the email from them, basically they hope you dont bother feeling happy that they agreed to refund you. Do note that the advisor's are so well trained that they will not argue with you, will not agree or disagree to anything you say, simply give you a reference number for the call  and a reference number for the refund, thanking you all the way. Thousands of us have made millions and the same thousands of us can BREAK THEM-PLEASE GO AND GET YOUR MONEY BACK TODAY!! and  lets show them that covert fraudulent business will not get the better of us all the best I hope it helps and dont take no for an answer!!

After having been ripped off since March 2014 to the tune of 82p plus VAT per week, I decided to find out a little more about this Company and I called them directly....much to their surprise..!  Save yourself the bother of using the Customer Care number with it's barrage of automated questions and call the Buongourino offices in Shoreditch directly. They are based at 57-63 SCRUTTON STREET, LONDON , EC2A 4PF.  Call them directly on 0207 613 6000 and you will be expressed through to Customer Services  person and offered a refund via PayPal without any questions.  ******************** C A L L   O N   T H I S   N U M B E R   TO   G E T   S  T  R  A  I  G  H  T    T  H  R  O  U  G  H   ************************** ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••  0 2 0 7  6 1 3  6 0 0 0  •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••              (do not bother with the official Customer Services no. 0207 649 9636 - this is possibly a costly diverted internet number, not local) ***********************************************************************************************************************************************************A rather alarmed and flustered  Buongiorno receptionist initially denied knowing anything about this iFortuneCookie phone app scam , but coudn't hide it and then very swiftly put me through directly to an actual customer services agent who had a well rehearsed and scripted reply for everything.I suggested that I was about to issue Boungiorno UK Ltd with a claim for my money back through the small claims court to which she explained that their process is fully legal. Sadly, it probably is, but is morally twisted in my opinion. However, she struggled to talk me through the process of how I might have unwittingly signed up, but she let slip at one point that the 'subscribe' button is actually a 'play now' button. This practice is totally immoral, deceptive and it is hard to believe that this is legal. I asked for the name and addresss of their CEO  or Managing Director as I would like to send him/her a personal letter or maybe even arrange a face to face conversation to explain to me how they operate, but she refused to give out this information.I have yet to see if the refund happens..!If I do not receive a refund soon, I will be taking a visit to their offices, at 57 Scrutton Street to politely collect my refund in person.. I will keep you posted.. FYI:  Companies House information:  Name & Registered Office:

  • PDF reduce file size filters and CMYK to RGB conversion

This doesn't seem to be on-topic to this forum, but I'm hoping someone here has the expertise to answer my question. We have some scripts which take a series of press-quality pdfs and use the "reduce file size" filter to prepare them for viewing on the web. We run these scripts on a 10.4 machine, and the filter works very well, reliably reducing file sizes of all sorts of pages.
When we tried to upgrade the machine, we discovered that the quartz filtering has changed in 10.5 and 10.6. While it's usually an improvement, getting maybe 5-10% better compression ratios, it has become unreliable in that about 5% of my files fail spectacularly -- they blow up to 3, 4, 5, 6 times the original size.
The other thing that happens is that the 10.5/10.6 filters munge the colors up. I found the solution to this -- in the ColorSynchUtility, make a duplicate of the Reduce File Size filter, and add a Color Management Component called Convert To Profile. This allows me to set a filter that converts the CMYK content to RGB. The problem is that there are about 40 choices of profiles, and it's not at all clear what I should use. Many of them have printer manufacturer's names in them, some say "Adobe", others have cryptic codes (probably referring to various RFCs and schemes). I've tried a couple of the ones that don't look like they are for printers, basically chosen at random. They all produce files of slightly different sizes for the reductions that go well, but on the files that blow up, some filters are better than others. (For example, I have a 5MB page which reduces to 1.4MB with the 10.4 filter, but blows up to 27MB with the "sRGB IE61966-2.1" profile, but only 12MB with the "Adobe RGB" profile.)
    So I have 2 questions:
    1) Is there any way to configure a 10.5/10.6 custom profile so that it behaves as reliably as the 10.4 "stock" PDF Reduce File Size works? It doesn't have to be the most wonderful compression algorithm out there, just so that it never or rarely has a file blow up in size.
    2) For converting press documents to pdfs that are going to go on the web, what is a good "Convert to profile" to use of the 40-some choices on the pull-down menu?

    Cathy,
You have posted your question in a forum dedicated to the Final Cut Studio application Color. It is a very specialized program to grade (adjust) the color in video/film images. We know nothing regarding PDFs.
Have you tried posting this on an Adobe support site?
    Good luck,

  • Additive Cost and Variance Calcultion

We started using Tcode CK74N to enter additive costs for certian materials. I did the configuration needed in the costing variant and added a cost element for additive costs in the cost component structure.
Everything is working fine, when we run CK11n for a material that already have an additive cost estimate, the additive costs are being picked up and included in the cost estimate. if we mark and release the cost estimate the additive costs are being reflected in the new standard, so far so good.
My question is around the variance postings that happen once we enter a production order and settle the variance at period end.
    lets look at this example
    Assume the following:
    Material X current standard = $100
Order X quantity produced =10 cases
Material X NEW standard after negative additive cost =$80
Scenario 1 (no additive costs) the total debits (Actual postings form material consumption and activity confirmation) to a the order = $900
The total credit was $1000 (standard*quantity produced) , a $100 in variance will occur, and the posting at settlement will be to Debit the price difference account and to credit the cost of sales account for $100. This is the normal case
Scenario 2 : We included a -$200 of additive costs for that material in the standard (new Standard is 80) , the credit to the order will be $800 instead of $1000 , which will make the variance -$200 and the posting currently is to DR cost of sales and credit price difference account for $200
The business and Based on scenario 2 wants to automatically generate a posting to the ACTUAL side of the production order equivalent to the additional variance caused by additive costs? which will put the variance back at 100.
They would like to see a credit to the cost element used in the cost component structure to book additive costs. and the reminder of the variance 100 in our example should continue to be booked to the same price different account .
If this is possible and right to do? what account should be used to offset this credit that being proposed to the additive cost element ? Because I assume that a new FI document should be created to record the credit?
    Thanks for your help

    Hey,
It depends a little upon the settlement rule of your process/production order.
If you are settling to the material (MAT), the price difference will only be accounted for with one line, without separation between difference coming from additive costs and other differences.
If you are settling not via within CO, you maybe have the possibility the way you settle, but I can not see how you can use such a logic in a settlement process.
What I would do, is to create a custom reposting program, which reposts the additive cost difference separately, after which the normal settlement can take care of the remaining difference.

  • How can Oracle ERP system reduce the total cost of ownership

i have read a report that describe the advantages of using Oracle ERP system in different organizations ; it is mentioned that
"+Oracle’s ERP solution suite helps customers achieve 30-80% lower total cost of ownership, benefit from a predictable cost model, and reduce risk+".
So does this means that Oracle ERP system reduce the total cost of ownership because it provides cheaper price comparing to other ERP providers, or it is meant that using Oracle ERP system will reduce the total cost of ownership for other assets in the organization by 30-70% ?
    Thanks

    My thoughts:
    1) Oracle ERP (or any ERP) typically replaces numerous applications. Each of those applications needed separate licensing fees, separate support mechanism, and separate employees in your organization to support them. By consolidating into one, it is easier to support it.
    2) Normally, Oracle ERP is cheaper than SAP but it certainly not the cheapest ERP in the market. There are some smaller ERPs which are cheaper but may not offer the breadth that Oracle offers. In fact, Oracle offers a small business ERP that is quite cheaper than EBS.

  • Reduce the Standard Cost by Percentage

    Hi All,
We want to reduce standard cost by certain percentage rate ( for eg 5 %) when we run standard cost CK11N. Please suggest how to achieve this.
For eg : - Standard cost is Rs 100/- for a material but while running CK11N we want it be reduced somehow by 5 % so that standard cost becomes Rs 95/-.
    Regards,
    Aakash

    Hi Aakash,
Why do you want to reduce the standard cost estimate like that, what is your actual requirement? I hope it is not possible as you say. I don't see any requirement from client like this.
If any experts have some idea on this, please share your knowledge, even I am eager to know as Aakash.
Looks awkward, why don't you reduce your BOM and routing (but it leads to high production variances) by 5% to get your results?
    Regards...

  • Workspace/Developer users and Oracle accounts

We plan to install Apex 4 (for first time) into an existing database with many schemas and users. Some users already have developer privileges in their schemas pre-Apex install. Will their user/schema privileges be 'inherited' into the Apex environment or will they have to be re-defined as Workspace admins/developers? If they have to be re-defined as developer user in Apex is there a way for them to keep their old passwords?
Also, we are implementing Oracle Identity Management and plan to move all developer-type accounts to be Enterprise User accounts in OIM. Will Apex developer users be compatible with this?
    Thanks,
    Pat

Yes, I have no problem with end-user authentication -- we have already implemented LDAP authentication in another Apex environment with our central LDAP directory as an alternate user authentication. I am glad to hear that some plans are being made for other methods of authentication of developers--why not become compatible with Oracle's own OIM and the concept of Enterprise User??
Quoting an Oracle whitepaper entitled: Directory Services Integration with Database Enterprise User Security
"... many enterprises today are still managing database users and privileges in individual databases. From end user perspective, managing passwords in multiple databases is confusing and results in poor user experience. From administration perspective, redundant user management is costly, and managing user authorizations in multiple databases is error prone. From auditing and compliance perspective, on time provision and de-provision of user access and privileges across databases is challenging.
Enterprise User Security (EUS), an Oracle Database Enterprise Edition feature, leverages the Oracle Directory Services, and gives you the ability to centrally manage database users and role memberships in an LDAP directory. Enterprise User Security reduces administration cost, increases security, and improves compliance through centralized database user account management, centralized provisioning and de-provisioning of database users, centralized password management and self-service password reset, and centralized management of authorizations using global database roles.
