Reducing the effort of going to Tools to make pages available

Hi,
I have a major problem on my hand. Everytime I sync my application, I have to
go to the Tools and make all the pages available as well as make the portlets
visible and available. If I shut down my server, next time I start it up, I have
to sync the application and repeat the process. This is very irritating especially
when you have created more than 30 pages.
I have created my own application(similar to portal).
Plz suggest how I can avaoid this effort of going to the Tools everytime and making
my pages available.

what! You have the same 'problem' that I am trying to fix.
Looking at your form, you have a number of tabs. The default
shows as the music tab for me. From the bottom of the music tab to
the start of the search box you have a lot of space. This is
exactly what I have, and I can't figure out what style will reduce
the amount of space that is shown there. It is waisting an entire
line, and I'm trying to squeeeze as much as possible on the form.

There used to be a dropdown next to the arrows for going fwd and back through pages. It showed the last several pages visited. I also miss the option at closing that allowed you to reopen all the tabs you closed with. Can we get these features back?

What more do you need?

Firefox 4 will ''always'' save your tabs when you quit. To restore your tabs the next time you start Firefox, choose "Restore previous session" from the history menu, or press the "Restore session" button on the default Firefox home page.
If you still want to have Firefox prompt you when quitting (like it did in Firefox 3.6), you can enable some preferences in the "about:config" screen:

Do you try to go to the page to remove the bookmark?
An alternative method is to right-click on the bookmark and choose delete.

How to reduce the 'other' bar in my storage.

I have an 8GB iPhone and the 'other' bar when on iTunes take up 4.66GB. This makes my iPhone almost unusable as it is constantly telling me 'iPhone storage full'. I barely had any apps to begin with as I had to keep deleting them but I just did a restore and there was no change just the bar for apps reduced in size. Is there any way to reduce the 'other' contents on my phone to make it usable again?

Running Win7 and ITunes 10.6 - loaded all my old CD's in one user acct. I want to share these with all other users on the machine without reloading the CD's and without having to make copies of their disk images, if possible. Also, want them on my WinXP

Running ITunes 10.6, on a Win7 Home Premium SP1. Just loaded about thirty of my favorite CD's on my user account.
I would like to be able to make all of them available to my other family members in their accounts on my machine, without needing to reload them all and without having to store their disk images multiple times. Can this be done, and if so, how?
And can I copy the contents of a folder across to my wife's WinXP SP3 machine, and have them made available to each of us in our login accts on that machine?
(There are three of us, plus an admin and a backup admin account, on each.)
I will be really grateful if someone can help me do this for my family members, as we have shared the music on these CD's over the years, and I would like to make them available on the desktop for each of us.
Also, I'd like to be able to load them, or a subset of them, to my wife and son's IPods. Any Tips, Traps or Tweaks for that process, as well?

Not sure about the OS level for the IPods. I am doing this for my wife and son, using an account here created for my son, which he shares with me for support purposes. But I do know they both have IPods, and our PC's and their OS's were described above.

You can move the iTunes folder to a separate drive on your pc an then configure each account to use this drive / folder as iTunes library ... The problem is, that iTunes by default stores everything in your personal music folder which is separate for each user account in windows (and by default is on "C" drive).
I create a separate partition on every pc/laptop (and map a drive name) where I store music, videos and other mass data. This will also keep the "C" drive small, which is backed up from time to time and so my backup is also small.

Best tool to reduce the network bandwidth for WEBI reports

Hi Experts,
We have a central BO XI server installed in Head Office. Few users are needed to connet to Head Office from their place (Regions) to access the WEBI reports.
For this we have two options to refresh the report.
1. BO InfoView
2. Web Intelligence Rich Client
My question is , which is the best way to reduce the internet bandwidth. Since my users are on remote location and doesn't have good link, which one is the best option to reduce the bandwidth consumtion.

If you're launching Webi Rich Client in 3-tier (ZABO) mode there should be no difference from Infoview refresh, as WRC will utilize same webi report servers for refresh as Infoview does.
If you use 2-tier mode with WRC, then refresh will be local, using local connection to the reporting DB.
I'd say Infoview will be less bandwith intensive and you will be sending only structured and prepared data tot he client browser, not the rough data report needs.
To further decrease bandwith, you can design your server infrastructure to have regional processing, that way most communicatyions with be local and requests go to central location only for main data...

How can I reduce the size of a pdf file for emailing?

I want to send a pdf file which is 8 mb, it has bounced in an email because it is too big, how can I reduce the size of the pdf file for emailing?

Sometimes a simple "Save As" will reduce the file size slightly, but probably not enough to pass the <8 mb threshold of your recipient, as you need.
You've probably seen it, try the next option in the Save As menu, "Reduced Size PDF," and make it compatible with the latest version possible, again considering the recipient. This suggestion assumes Acrobat X. You don't say which version you're using, but this tool was available at least going back to Version 8, but in a different place, you'll have to hunt.
If all that doesn't work, you could remove some images from the source document, which also will reduce the overall size.

Oracle 10g: How to reduce the select * time

We have 10 million entries in our database (Oracle 10g in windows 32 bit machine.)
The execution of 'select * ....' takes 3 to 4 hour. Is there any way to reduce this time.
Is any tool available which can read the oracle export data and produce the output in text file format.
or any idea ?

The reason I ask is that often people will say "It takes n minutes to run this query" when in fact Oracle is producing the result set in a few seconds and what is taking n minutes is to run the results past the screen.
You should take a statspack report while the query is running and see where it is spending its time.

How to reduce the redolog generation?

We have a database running in not archive log, we have an schema were all tables are in not log. We are getting 300 redologs a day the redologs are 10gb each.
The ETL tool is unable to add a hint like /* APPEND +/ to the INSERTS.
Is posible to setup an OUTLINE to make the INSERTS have the /* +APPEND */ hint?
Is any other way to reduce the amount of redologs?

Redo generation acording to what I know depent of 3 factors.
1)- The database is in archive log or not.
2)- The tables are have loging or not.
3)- what is the loading method. Direct path or not.

Satellite P870 touchpad is huge, any way to reduce the active region?

Hi,
I have P870. The touchpad is huge and is off-centre.
When I type my thumb naturally touches the touchpad intermitently.
When this happens the mouse pointer gets clicked into a different paragraph (or even window) and everything I type goes to the wrong place.
Is there a tool to reduce the active region of the touchpad?
I would like to disable about an inch of the left edge - I never use it except by accident.

Here in Touch Pad settings click on Setting button.
Now go to Inertial Movement area and decrease the movement area.

I am a newbie to FPGA design and implemetation. I have a design (H.264 Encoder) and implemented on zynq zc702 (which is having Artix7 FPGA fabric). Now we need to implement it on zynq zc706 with reduced gate count ( because we are going to add some more blocks like rate control etc.,)
How to reduce the gate count ?

Try to reduce the overall control set. Registers in the slice shares the same control set so if the number of registers in the control set do not divide cleanly, some registers may go unused.
Make sure correct DSP and BRAM blocks are getting inferred by the tool
Try to map FSM in BRAM.
Use Synthesis and Implementation level strategies.
See if any module is having high utilization and can be reduced by changing RTL: report_utilization -hierarchical -file utilization.txt

Does de-authorising reduce the authorisation count?

I have heard rumour that de-authorising previously authorised PC/devices doesn't actually reduce the activation count for ADE.
I this true?
I got a bit carried away when I 1st started and authorised 3 PCs at home and my bebook reader. My bebook reader had to be returned due to fault - unfortunately I didn't de-authorise it before it - adobe support tells me that there's nothing I can do about that (so that's one activation gone) and when the replacement reader turns up another activation will be used - that will be five in total - so if de-authorising does nothing to the count I'm left with one authorisation till the end of time - I've asked suppoort about this and haven't had an answer - I'm a little wary of buying more ADE books if the authorisations run out (due to pc failure or reader failure or uprades of either) and being stuck with a library I can't access.
I've checked around the forums and it looks like exceeding the authorisation count is not an uncommon problem and there appears little progress on fixing the problem on Adobe's part.
I am still waiting for a reply to the last post.
Following is my discussion with support -
Ok I understand that I can't de-activate the reader now it has been returned but assuming I keep using digital editions for years to
come, as PCs die or need the hard-drive replaced/reformated and the breakdown usually occurs without warning (ie I don't get the ch
ance to de-activate the PC) won't I eventually run out of activations? (I've already lost one to the returned ebook, one on the PC I
download with and one to the new reader when it arrives)
Under those circumstances do I have to then create a new accounbt and lose access to all my previously purchased ebooks?
I would have thought the record of authorisations would be held by adobe and therefore able to be removed/reset by adobe.
I'm just trying to understand the authorisation process before I invest too much in digital edition ebooks.
The number of authorisations is something else I'm little confused about I read in one place that I could have 6 PCs AND 5 ebooks de
vices but I think I reade on the adbode site that it is only 5 PCs or devices in total.

Hi, I'm new to digital editions and I tried installing and authorizing three PCs and one ebook reader while learning how to use digi

My ebook reader has a fault and I'm returning it and expect to recieve a new unit soon. My question is how do I go about deactivatin

Yes, you only want to deauthorize when getting rid of a machine (as a step remove your personal information), or when directed to by a competent tech support person.
If you run out of activations you will need to contact tech support by going to http://www.adobe.com/support/digitaleditions and clicking on 'Submit a web case'
