Redwood CPS - reports

Is there a way to use parameters and joins inside of the reporting functionality in Redwood CPS? This is the link definitions-reports.
For example, joining jobs and their children and passing a paramenter for date range.
Thanks everyone!

Hello Laxminarayan
The question that you have posed is not related to Solution manager and hence we would be closing the thread. kindly please open thread in a appropriate Netweaver forum.

Hello,
As per the installation guide you should create an Isolation group first and then create the SAP system when connected in that Isolation group. See also forum entry [here|Re: Create SAP Sytem in Cronacel]

• RFC Message: Internal Problem, in REDWOOD CPS.

We have Redwood CPS 7 connected up to SAP IS-U Supply.
We keep getting random RFC errors when executing a script.
Any Idea
ERROR LOG *******************
ABAP_RUN: R/3 call BAPI_XBP_JOB_OPEN failed
RFC error: XM034
RFC Message: Internal problem (function BAPI_XBP_JOB_OPEN)
TCTRETURNS/ : deleted
/ERROR LOG *******************

Hi,
if this is a random issue I assume that the authorizations of the CPS communication user are OK, otherwise please verify:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/49/bb35b8623a489aa63abd9f5ebf2448/frameset.htm
If this random issue happens only if you execute your custom script, I would assume that the script wants to create a job with invalid data. For example: some data is missing or wrong like start date/time, job class, job user, job name.
Let's analyze what you have posted here:
RFC error: XM034
RFC Message: Internal problem (function BAPI_XBP_JOB_OPEN)
-> XM034 point to the XMI log
-> use transcation RZ15 to analyze the XMI log
-> XM034 means "problem detected" (see appendix 8 of document ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/icc/bc-xbp/BCXBPDOC70V3.pdf)
I locked into the code and indeed it seems that function BAPI_XBP_JOB_OPEN returns this message if the job cannot be created.
So if Sys- and XMI-Log cannot help you in solving this issue, I would create a message for dev. support.
Cheers,
Martin

• Redwood CPS job goes to status ERROR but job works completes ok in SAP

Hi
When I schedule a particular ABAP job to run in SAP from Redwood CPS it always completes with the Error status in CPS, but the job runs okay and ends in the Finished status in SAP.
I tried a different ABAP job and this ran okay, with the CPS status going to Completed.
I had a look at the CPS log files for the Erroring job and there were no errors in the 'log' file but in the 'step1/spool1' file there is the line 'Processing completed with errors'. Is CPS doing a little more than SAP as regards checking job statuses and looking in the spool file for errors?
Checked the operator messages and all it says is:
Job 1501323 (submitted from ZGB_FI_KO8G_SETTLEMENT copy from 2009/08/24 15:34:54,250 Europe/London)) has aborted due to at least one error while running the jobs in step: Job 1501324 (submitted from ZGB_FI_KO8G_SETTLEMENT copy from 2009/08/24 15:34:54,250 Europe/London))
- doesn't elaborate why the job has status Error.
Is this saying the CPS part had an error or the ABAP part??
Ross

Hi Anton
I checked the Return Code Mapping for this system and it is empty. No post running action or a trigger has been configured.
The first time I was having the error was after setting up a 2 step job chain. When I got the error (and the second step didn't run) I then submitted this first simple step from the job definition SAP_AbapRun in case there was an issue with the way I'd configured the chain; it still errorred though. All I am specifying is the ABAP program name, SAP job name, variant and queue to run on, and it does run okay in SAP.
When you say "The actual error should be available in the logfile of the SAP job itself" do you mean the joblog as viewing in SM37? There are no errors in there.
I'll have a play with the Return Code Mapping part as if CPS does search the spool for errors (perhaps by default?) and sets the status to error in CPS, I don't want it to stop the chain - although I guess I can always set the post action of step 1 to 'on error' 'continue'...
Cheers

• Editing process chains of BW in Redwood CPS

Hi All,
I have imported the BW process chain in Redwood CPS (SAP_BW_ImportProcessChains) and ran the same through Redwood (SAP_BW_ProcessChainRun). It was running fine.
Now the requirement is to edit few steps (in sub processes of the main chain) and add new steps in redwood is it possible? (Main reason is to create dependency of sub process with other system job)
I am trying to edit the sub chains but I am not getting any edit option in sub chains to put some dependencies.
Experts need your suggestion on the same and I appreciate if any document or print screen is available to support your suggestion.

Hi Babu Murthy,
Thanks for sharing your views I really appreciate it. I know that this is the only option but our requirement is to add other system jobs specially the operating system jobs (UNIX/SOLARIS) in between the BW process chain. It is not possible to add the operating system jobs in SAP (if possible please let me know) that is why I want to edit the chains at Redwood level.
Moreover, I am trying to create manual chains in Redwood as same as we have in BW system (but it is too much complicated and I don't think so it will work). Is this a good option? Or any thing else I can do for this?
Please share your comments.

• Comparision BMC Control-M to Redwood CPS

Hi,
We are in process of migrating a production system which currently using Control-M. Looking for a job scheduling tool which can cater to our heavy batch load. With regards to this had following questions,
1. Does the REDWOOD CPS have similar cpabilities compared to that of Control-M, in terms of large number of batch scheduling jobs.
2. Does the REDWOOD CPS capable to handle batch flows in sequence.
3. Does the REDWOOD CPS have alerting mechanisms set in case of job failure. Control-M has the ability to alert ITO through the tools such as HP Openview.
4. Does REDWOOD CPS have calenders, similar to that of Control-M, and lastly
5. Do we need to purcase additional licenses for REDWOOD CPS.
Thanks and Appreciate your help
Regards,
Abhi

Hi Abhi,
To answer your questions:
1. Yes, CPS can handle large numbers of jobs
2. Yes, CPS can handle both parallel as well as sequential dependencies within and between batch flows
3. Yes, CPS can also send out alerts in case of error, also to Openview/ITO and similar tools
4. Yes, CPS offers calendaring functionality, you can reuse existing SAP calendars (factory calender for instance), and you can define your own calenders by selecting dates or by defining rules so that you no longer have to prepare calenders for instance every year (rules like last friday of the month, but if that is a public holiday then the last workday before that friday etc.)
5. To answer this question, I would need to know more about your requirements. There is a free version with restrictions and there is a paid version. The differences are detailed in documentation on the SMP or SDN, and are also described in regular webinars hosted by SAP and/or Redwood.
Regards,
Anton.

• Redwood CPS - how to define dependant jobs?

Hi
I am trying to schedule a job to run only after another job has ran successfully using Redwood CPS. I understand that the best way to do this is as follows:
1) Define an new event - e.g. JOB_COMPLETION
2) Define a new Job Chain, and assign a Step and a the first job to run to this. Set the 'Raise Events' tab to JOB_COMPLETION and the drop down box 'Status To Raise On' to 'Completed'
3) Define another new Job Chain with a Step and the next job you want to run after completion of the first job. Set the 'Wait Events' tab to JOB_COMPLETION and Auto Submit to 'Always' and tick the 'clears event' tick box
4) Right click on the first Job Chain and Submit - set a time for the job to run.
What happens: the first job chain/step runs okay. Looking at the event JOB_COMPLETION it says both the Raise Event and Wait Event were both executed - and cleared afterwards - yet the second Job Chain was never ran? In the job status, it says 'Never'.... any idea how I get this to run on completion of the first job?
Thanks
Ross

Answered in the CPS forum:
Hi Ross,
I think the best way to do it is to just use the jobchain object. You can do as follow:
- Create a jobchain with 2 steps
- First script in the first step, second script in the second step
By default, script 2 does not run if script 1 failed.

• Incrementation of Laufi in Mass Activites in Redwood CPS

Hi,
How do I increment the Laufi field in RSI_COPY_MASS_PARAMETER in Redwood CPS
Basicly the mass activities copy script will be scheduled to copy a master parameter set every night, however this requires user input. I am using a orcale function to change the lauf date, however is there a built in function or increment Laufi?
Regards

Hi Lewis,
If it runs once a day, you could do something like the following default value:
(trunc(sysdate)-to_date('2000-01-01','YYYY-MM-DD'))
This gives the number of days since 1-1-2000 (of course you can change the reference date).
This would automatically increment.
You could also take the Redwood Jobid (jcs.current_job_id) to get a unique and increasing number.
Or use a custom sequence in the database.
Regards,
Anton.

• Launch a RFC in a SAP system from Redwood CPS

Hi,
How can I launch a rfc in a SAP system from Redwood ?
Ex : in SE37, the function DATE_GET_WEEK, with a date (DD.MM.YYYY) as input parameter returns the corresponding week (YYYYWW)
Regards.

Hi,
SAP CPS uses an RFC to communicate with a target SAP system via the XBP interface so that Jobs can be executed. The CPS executable only knows of the calls that are appropriate to that interface or function modules created when CPS transports are loaded. If there was an RFC type interface that exposed your function to an external executable then of course CPS could execute the executable.

• Remove/Delete a Partition and Isolation group in Redwood CPS

Hi,
I just setup a test CPS environment using our Solution Manager Java stack.
I created an isolation group and Partition to play around and figure out how to add systems.
Now I would like to delete this partition and the Isolation group that it is connected to.
When I right click on the Isolation group and choose delete I get this error:
JCS-102201: Partition ERP is used by Removed Job Definition 1,164,681
JCS-102201: Partition ERP is used by Removed Job Definition 1,165,959
JCS-102201: Partition ERP is used by Removed Job Definition 1,166,039
JCS-102201: Partition ERP is used by Removed Job Definition 1,166,119
When I click on Show error Details I get this:
JCS-122035: Unable to persist: JCS-MULTI: Modification vetoed: JCS-102201: Partition ERP is used by <removed Job Definition 1164681>
I removed all the job chains that I had created for it and I do not know where to go from here.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Neil

Hi Anton,
I tried waiting for awhile and it still kept giving me the same error. I decided to double check the job definitions and found out that I had missed a couple.
Once I deleted all the job definitions that I had imported from our sandbox system I was able to delete the partition but not the Isolation group. I was getting an error saying that the isolation group was part of some Operator messages. So I painstakingly went through and deleted all the operator messages while logged into that isolation group. After that was done, I was finally able to get the Isolation group deleted.
Is there an easy way to clear all the operator messages?
Thank you,
Neil

• Automatic emails from Redwood CPS or CCMS

Hi All,
Iam scheduling jobs from Redwood which will be executed in R/3 or CRM etc.
My requirement is to trigger automatic mails if some job gets cancelled or aborted.
Is there any facility in Redwood for this?
Or else generating automatic mails from CCMS
,in case of job failure, will also serve my purpose.
If any one done this please let me know the procedure.
Thanks.
Bapu

my job done.
If any one intrested, here are the steps to automate mails from CCMS for aborted jobs.
There are lot of notes and huge info abt this provided by SAP,so I request anyone to refer those as per their requirement, before trying these steps..
Now mails are triggered for aborted jobs for me
1.Log on to the central alert monitor in any working client nnn(CCMS central monitor)
Configure the method CCMS_Send_Alert_to_ALM.
Start transaction RZ21 and select "Method definition ->Display overview". You can use the method CCMS_Send_Alert_to_ALM directly or copy the method CCMS_Send_Alert_to_ALM. You must always select the radio button for "Any server" under "Execute method on".
2.Configure the method parameters ("Parameter" tab)
The value "CCMS TEMPLATE" is preset for the parameter name "CATEGORY".This is the alert category of the central alert framemork where you determine the details of the message. You can enter any name here; butmake sure that the corresponding alert category exists in the alert framework.
3.Go to RZ20 SAP CCMS Monitor Templates Background Processing  Drill down to Node “Aborted Jobs”
Select Aborted jobs node and click on ‘properties’ tab .
Click on ‘Method Assignment’ under ‘Methods’ tab.
Under Auto-Reaction tab, choose method name(radio button) under method allocation, and specify ‘CCMS_Send_Alert_to_ALM’ as method name and Save.
4.log onto client 000 of the central CCMS system; if you are using central auto-reaction, select the client where the job SAP_CCMS_CENSYS_DISPATCHER is scheduled (see transaction SM37).
Create an RFC destination in transaction SM59 for client nnn of the CAS with a fixed user/password.
The user entered in the RFC destination must be able to send e-mail and SMS messages. Adjust the address data of this user in transaction SU01 under "Further communication".
Start transaction ALRTCATDEF and select "Settings -> RFC destination of the alert server". Enter the destination just created here.
5. In client nnn Start transaction ALRTCATDEF. Under the "CCMS alerts" classification, you can now define the alert categories that you specified as method parameters in the CCMS if needed(i.e if you changed the value of Paremeter CATEGORY from CCMS TEMPLATE to any thing else in step 2 . While creating these categories, make sure that "dynamic text" is selected.
6. It’s assumed that SCOT is configured and normal emails are going.
If not configure SCOT first.

Bapu

• SAP CPS Redwood Global Variables

Hello Everyone
We have job chain consisting of the below manner
1)Job1
2)Job2
3)Check whether the prior run of Job3 is success
4)Job4
In order to achieve the above requirement we are thinking to use global variables which will be updated at the end of every time when job chain runs successfully/fails.
Request you to kindly let me know whether the approach we want to use is fine .If it is fine then let me know how to write global variables in redwood.
Also Request you to kindly let me know any other approach we can use to achive the same.

• Redwood User Account error on Job

Hi All,
We currently had all our BWP jobs fail with the following error:
JCS-00503: OS account SYSJCS does not exist or is disabled on BRSAPPRDBWPV2
JCS-00315: job must run under OS equivalent of Oracle account SYSJCS
We run our oracle database on a Windows 2003 environment and also our Redwood/SAP servers are on a Windows 2003 server.
The job itself users "USER" account.
The only way we could get the jobs to start was by restarting the BWP Redwood services, and this worked fine.
Also want to state the we had the following issue at the sametime which was flagged up to us in "messages":
resubmit.update_job:
ORA-04061: existing state of package body "SYSJCS.CHAIN" has been invalidated
ORA-04065: not executed, altered or dropped package body "SYSJCS.CHAIN"
ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called: "SYSJCS.CHAIN"
All our BWP process chains are executed via the RUN BW CHAIN script, which is copied and renamed for the process chain.
We have tried to replicate the error in our dev environment but it worked fine. RFC points nothing at all.. Any help would be much appreciated. OSS note has been raised...
Thank You
Jazz

Hi Jazz,
The SYSJCS.CHAIN package is not used for BI Process Chains, only for CPS Chains. So the invalidation must have come from another source.
When this error occurs, as long as there are sessions started before the package has been re-validated (state reinitialized), you can continue to run into this error until all sessions have been restarted. The extend of the error depends on the package being reinitialized (how often it is used and the dependencies it has) and the session that needs to call it.
I think the error may already have been there before you did the chain import and just happened to surface shortly after the import.
Regarding your other questions:
1. RSI_IMPORT_BW_CHAINS or RSI_IMPORT_BW_CHAIN_DEFINITIONS:
the second one is only needed if you want to display the process chain definitions in the web interface before the chain is even running in CPS (in the job monitor you only see the processes that have started); if you do not use that, RSI_IMPORT_BW_CHAINS is enough
2. How would you go about maintaining BW process chains in Redwood (CPS)?
This is a question that every customer runs into at some point. First, you currently can not change a process chain definition in the BI system from CPS. Then there are cases where you probably want to leave the process chain structure intact (typically on the deepest level: drop index, do some work, recreate indexes). And there are other cases where it can be useful to bring some logic to CPS (typically on all levels where you have process chain within process chain in BI, ie. on all but the deepest levels).
For this last case, which is of course the most interesting for CPS, it can be very valuable to recreate the BI "meta-chain" structure in a CPS job chain.
So here you replace the BI "meta-chain" calling several BI process chains by a Cronacle job chain still calling some of the BI process chains (the ones on the deepest levels).
Now you can add all the CPS extras for error handling, retries, cross system dependencies, (external) events, alerting, etc. etc. on each and every point in the CPS job chain, so you get a lot more information, intervention and recovery points on your BI process than you would when running the entire thing in one big BI Process Chain (triggered from CPS or not does not matter).
Typically the customer's decision here mainly depends on the advantages that can be achieved, especially if there are service levels to be met on the reports that need to be delivered from BI and these deadlines tend to get tighter by the month.
By reducing the total runtime of the process or reducing the number of errors that occur or if they occur, the amount of work to fix it, you can save a lot of time, and thus money.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Anton.
