Referencing methodAction in Default Value property - problem on Form page

I have a custom method returning a variable in my ApplModuleImpl.java exposed to the client.
In the page def file, there is a methodAction binding for the custom method as well as an invokeAction executable with Refresh set to PrepareModel.
In the Default Value for an attribute, the return variable is specified using #{bindings.method.result}
There are 2 pages using this page def file: a table layout and a form layout. In the table page, the default value in a new row is initalized correctly using the EL expression. Clicking on the New button displays the form page. In that page, the default value is not initialized. What step did I miss?

Try setting the refreshCondition to always.
My guess is that the custom method is no longer invoked when you click the New Button, can you test this by debugging and setting a breakpoint in your custom method.
Note that an alternative solution for the form layout is to call your custom method within ADF BC in the create method of the underlying entity object.

  • Setting a Default Value within a Tabular Form

    Hi All,
    Using Apex 2.2.1
    Hoping someone can assist. I have the following two scenarios where I would like to set a default value to a column within a tabular form.
    Scenario One:
    Prior to actually displaying the tabular form on the page, I have a region on this page where I ask the user to select a Application No. first (using a Select List with Submit). Once this item, say P50_APP is set to a value, the Tabular Form region is then presented to the user by where I then allow them to enter certain information required using the 'Add Row' button. One of the columns within this tabular form also represents the Application No.
    My questions are:
    a) I have made the Application No. within the tabular form as a LOV, so when the user hits the 'Add Row' button, how can I set the initial value to P50_APP value using the 'Default Type and Default' items within the column?
    b) Since I am trying to achieve a master-detail type scenario here, if (a) above is not possible, if I hide the Application No. column within the tabular form, how can I set it to P50_APP when the user presses either the 'Add Row' or 'Submit' buttons?
    Scenario Two:
    Is it possible to pass a value from a tabular form, i.e a column within this tabular form on one page, to another tabular form column on a another page (when the user presses the 'Add Row' button) within the same application?
    For example, on page 50 I have the column #APP_NUMBER# passed onto page 60 which is another tabular form that also holds the same column name #APP_NUMBER# , so when the user on page 60 hits the 'Add Row' button, I would like the App Number column default to the one just passed over from page 50.
    Is this possible?
    Apologies if I am asking the same things in both scenarios - just want to make sure I understand MRUs.
    Thanks.
    Tony.

    Hi Andy,
    Thanks for getting back to me but I think you are referencing these default values in the wrong section.
    What I am actually trying to set is the value of a column within a tabular form to P50_APP and it seems to me that the only available options for setting default values on a tabular form column are by using:
    Default Type: which can be one of:
    No Default
    Item (application or page item name) or
    PL/SQL Expression or Function
    and then actual source is set against:
    Default:
    Unsure as to how to actually set the value of P50_APP which is in session to the individual tabular column mentioned above.
    FYI, I have tried selecting for Default Type: Item (application or page item name) and then specifying for Default:&P50_APP. as well as Default Type:PL/SQL Expression or Function and specifying for Default: :P50_APP but to no avail.

  • Issue with setting a default value to a Tabular Form field

    Hi -
    I'm running into an issue setting the default value of a tabular form column. I'm trying to set the default value to the row number (#rownum#). This used to work in previous versions, but now it's returning 0. Is there a was to set this value in the default value attribute of the field with a substitution string?

  • Report item value carried over to Form page

    Hi all
    I have a dynamic LOV (form a table) on a report. To redirect to a new entry page, I want the selected LOV column (consultants name) to show as a default in the Dynamic LOV of the new page. The reason for the dynamic LOV on the new page is so that the name of the consultant will most likely be the same, but the option will be given for the user to change the consultants name on the new entry page.
    cheers

    Ian,
    You can pass parameters from one page to another.
    Create a branch to go to the second page and register the link-details.

  • Property default value in presentation doesn't work in vSphere Web Client.

    Hi,
    Some of my default values don't work in the vSphere Web client.
    Here is an example :
    The user need to choose a date, this input parametter is called "FormDateRealisation".
    In the next step, I have a user interraction with external input called "AppDateRealisation", that is an attribute. In the presentation, this parameter as a Default value property set to "#FormDateRealisation".
    It work perfectly in the Java client, but when I try the workflow in vSphere web client, the default value doesn't not work.
    Does anyone have an idea how to solve this ? I already found a solution to bypass this bug (Creating a script to transfert the input to the attribute)... But I would like to use the default value.

    Hi,
    I opened a ticket, they didn,t found the solution. But we found those logs:
    Execution of action com.DemandeServeur/EspaceDisqueMultiple10 returned a javacsript 'undefined' value. Perhaps a return statement is missing in this action ? Will be converted to null.
    Here is my code of "EspaceDisqueMultiple10":
    Return type: string
    Input: InGBHD (number)
    if (InGBHD%10 != 0)
      return "L'espace disque doit être un multiple de 10";
    else

  • Default Value in a DFF is not getting populated in Self Service Page

    I had an issue in Self Service Page.
    In the SS page there is hidden mandatory field in DFF segment,which should get populated with a default select statement.
    But this field is not getting populated with the default values.
    But this is working fine in Forms , i.e the default value is populated in forms.
    Why the default value is not populated in Self Service Pages?
    For Eg: If there is a DFF "SAMPLE_DFF" which has some context with segment
    Context Code : GB_CODE
    Segment : "Enter the Group"
    and this segment is made required and defaulted with a select stmt (select stmt returns 'XXXXX')
    In forms if am not entering any value, then its defaulted to 'XXXXX'.
    But in Self Service this is not happening.
    Can anybody help me out...

    Actually, I have narrowed down the problem. It is not quite the same.
    DFF is Receivables, Address Information (Release 12). We have 2 attributes defined and we want the default value of the 2nd to be dependent on what the user selects in the 1st.
    So the default value of the 2nd is defined as a SQL Statement, select :$FLEX$.INDUSTRY_CODE from dual (where INDUSTRY_CODE is the value set name from the 1st).
    We know the syntax is correct because if we actually hardcode a default value in the 1st attribute (select 'BLAH' from dual), then we do see that the default value for the 2nd attribute fills in with BLAH as well. However, we do not want that. We want the user to choose a value for the 1st attribute from the LOV, and then have the 2nd attribute default to that same value. This is the part that does not seem to work in OAF, but definitely used to work in Forms.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks much!

  • Best practice for default values in EO

    I have and entity called AUTH_USER (a user table) within it has 2 TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE columns like this ...:
    EFF_DATE TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE NOT NULL DEFAULT current_timestamp,
    TERM_DATE TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE
    Notice EFF_DATE has a default constraint and is not nullable.
    In the EO, EFF_DATE is represented as a TIMESTAMPTZ and is checked as MANDATORY in its attribute properties. I cannot commit a NEW RECORD based on VO derived from this EO because of the MANDATORY constraint that is set in the EFF_DATE attribute's properties unless I enter a value. My original strategy was to have the field populated by a DEFAULT DATE if the user should attempt to leave this field null.
    This is my deli ma.
    1. I could have the database populate the value based on the default constraint in the table definition. Since EFF_DATE and TERM_DATE resemble the Effective Date (Start, End) properties that the framework already provides then I could set both fields as Effective Date (Start, End) and then check Refresh After Insert. But this still won't work unless I deselect the mandatory property on EFF_DATE.
    2. The previous solution would work. However, I'm not sure that it is part of a "Best Practices" solution. In my mind if a database column is mandatory in the database then it should be mandatory in the Model as well.
    3. If the first option is a poor choice, then what I need to do is to leave the attribute defined and mandatory and have a DEFAULT VALUE set in the RowImpl create method.
    4. Finally, I could just force the user to enter a value. That would seem to be the common sense thing to do. I mean that's what calendar widgets and AJAX enabled JSF are for!
    Regardless to what the correct answer is, I'd like to see some sample code of how the date can be populated inside the RowImpl create method and it pass to setEffDate(TimestampTZ dt). Keep in mind though that in this instance I need the timezone at the database server side and not the client side. I would also ask for advice on doing this with Groovy Scripting or expressions.
    And finally, what is the best practice in this situation?
    Thanks in advance.

    How about setting the default value property of the attribute in the EO to be adf.currentDate ?
    (assuming you are using 11g).
    This way there is a default date being set when the record is created and the user can change it if he wants to.

  • Enterprise Project Fields Default values do not Register on PDP Pages for mandatory fields

    Is it normal for "mandatory" eneterprise project field to come up as blank in a PDP page, when I have defined it to default value to a specific value in a list?
    I've inserted such fields using the project field web part within the PWA Category.  They display with the red astericks at the end of their name, but the field is blank.  The default value does not appear in the field.  However, if I select
    the button next to their name and display the the list, the default value is shown in bold as if it is the one selected.  I
    I am not using any workflows in the EPT that is responsible for displaying such pages.  Aslo, this is not a problem when the fields are not set to mandatory; they display the default value.
    the problem with this is that you have to manually select the default (or some value form the list) in order to check in the project.
    Would you agree that this is a bug in 2010?

  • Need to set default value in table EABL.

    Hi Experts,
    How to set default value of field ATIM form 00:00 to 23:59 ion field selection screen for table EABL in transaction SE16?

    hi jazz try this way.
    forget about every thing and come from beginning.
    by now i think your are familiar with shd0.
    firstly create a variant using shd0 for your table eabl with default value and save it and activate it.
    next check whether it is working or not by opening se11 or 14 and enter table name and click display, the you can you see your default vale in your required field.
    after it is done the come to second part i.e your se16.
    now create another variant for this and save it and activate it.
    (by this i mean to say you are creating two variants )
    hope this will solve your problem.
    if your purpose is not solved yet then please write to my mbox.

  • Default value in LOV field in Create and Update page in OAF

    Hi All,
    I am unable to default LOV field in Create and Update page in OAF.
    I tried in below way :
    OAMessageLovInputBean lovBean1 = (OAMessageLovInputBean)webBean.findChildRecursive("AAA");
    But I am getting developer mode exception, so please guide me how i can set the default value for create and update page instead of using code in process request method in controller.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    1) In case of create, you can default the value either in EOImpl or in AM while initializing the row:
    //in EOImpl
    public void create(AttributeList attributeList)
    super.create(attributeList);
    setXXAttribute(<value>);
    //in AM, VO new row initialization :-
    VOImpl VO = getVO1();
    VO.setMaxFetchSize(0);
    VORowImpl row = (VORowImpl)VO.createRow();
    row.setXXAttribute(<value>);
    VO.insertRow(row);
    row.setNewRowState(Row.STATUS_INITIALIZED);
    2) In case of update, execute the VO (also set the where clause if required) in PR method of update page.

  • Tabular Form - Setting a default value just on first row.

    Hi all,
    how to set a tabular form default value only in the first row?
    When I click on "add row" I want the new row have a blank value.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    When you add a new row to the tabular form, any existing rows should be saved to the database. You can, therefore, check for the existence of such records and set the value of a hidden page item accordingly. The default value for a tabular form item can then be based on this hidden item.
    This can be done by setting the Source Used to "Always, ..." on the hidden item called, say, P1_DEPTNO_DEFAULT, and the Source to something like:
    DECLARE
    X NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    SELECT COUNT(*) INTO X FROM EMP WHERE DEPTNO = :P1_DEPTNO;
    IF X > 0 THEN
      RETURN '';
    ELSE
      RETURN :P1_DEPTNO;
    END IF;
    END;This is a "PL/SQL Function Body" Source Type.
    In this example, we are checking if there are any EMP records with a DEPTNO value that matches P1_DEPTNO. If there are, then the tabular form must contain at least one row already, so we return an empty string. If there are no records, the tabular form must be empty, so we return the P1_DEPTNO value.
    The Default settings on the DEPTNO column in the tabular form would then be:
    Default Type: Item (application or page item name)
    Default: P1_DEPTNO_DEFAULT
